When it comes to the service, the dentist, and how they handled my root canal I would give 5 stars. But for insurance and payment they get 1 star. I was charged $1200.00 the day of service. My insurance sent me a letter and advised my responsibility was only $115.00. It has been over 2 months and I am still waiting for a refund and am always referred to the office manager who is never there. It is really frustrating on how this is handled. This place found a cyst and infection in my took along with another tooth that needed work. None of this can be seen on a regular x-ray. Practices, equipment and training have been able even to add to patient relationships. ASK FOR COSTS BEFORE SERVICE! This bill was for 1 root canal. I called a dentist and made an appointment for a root canal, having been through this before with past pregnancies. They booked me a 10 minute appt so they didn't have time. They referred me to Specialized Endodontics in Bloomingdale so I could be seen immediately. I was told the price was about the same. I soon became aware of a CT scan I needed on my mouth for $175. I wasn't happy but it was still under the $400 I paid 6 years ago for the same. I get done at the Endodontist and the receptionist hands me a $1,040 bill that I'm expected to pay before leaving! I negotiated to pay $520 now and 520 in 2 weeks. I was literally in tears leaving that place. I have 3 kids, 2 special needs, and one on the way. I thought medical costs were supposed to be upfront. In terms of service, immediate (I was in pain). The doctor and staff we kind and considerate until they needed money. COVID safety measures were in place physically but mentally, in a pandemic, you cannot expect someone to drop $1000 on a surprise bill! Do Better! read more

I suffered with an abscess over Labor Day weekend. I was referred by my dentist to Specialized. I called at 6:30am on Tuesday and told the office what was happening. The woman on the phone was extremely nice and accommodating. She scheduled my root canal with Dr Choi that afternoon. He was great! The staff was very professional! My tooth felt better the moment he numbed it and got better since. No pain during the treatment. Next day eating normal. Unbelievable. Thank You! Dr Choi was fantastic. I was referred to a couple of different endodontic doctors and I didn't find good Yelp reviews on the first one after making an appointment, so I called the dentist office back and asked who else they had. I cancelled my initial appointment and went with this office. The office was really nice, very high tech. Dr Choi himself was friendly, professional and efficient. I really appreciated him working out a way for me to communicate with him, once I couldn't talk and had to keep my mouth open. I was pretty scared about having a root canal done, but he really put me at ease. I appreciated his bedside manner which was just fantastic. I didn't feel any pain, just alot of numbness after the procedure. I was also concerned that the temporary seal wouldn't hold, but the procedure was about a month and a half ago and it has held just fine, considering I haven't had a chance yet to get a crown. I was also concerned that there could be issues after the procedure, but I have not had any pain, and side affects and no problems at all. No problems on the pricing either, it seemed fair and I even got a small amount back after insurance. I wouldn't recommend a root canal, but if you need one, Dr. Choi is a great choice for your Doctor. read more

Very disappointed. I scheduled an appointment with an endodontist named Dr. Choi (?) I was never able to see him. When I arrived, they had me fill out paperwork on a computer at a separate desk in a quiet room. That part was ok but things quickly went downhill. The technician took two x rays and let me know that someone would be in to take a 3D scan. I asked if insurance would cover this scan and they said, "no" and that the test would cost $160. I let them know that I had not brought $160 and that I just wanted to know if a root canal would even be possible. I have had other root canals based upon x rays and a 3D scan was not required for these. The dentist (in another room) apparently told the technician that without this scan, he could not see me. I was told that my appointment was now cancelled. When I got to the front reception desk, I commented to the receptionist that they should let people know that there will be a $160 charge due at the time of the appointment. She said, "we tell every patient that when we talk to them." Not me. If they had, I would have brought the money and not wasted an afternoon having my appointment cancelled while I was in the chair. She also said that "a consultation is not free." I never said that it was and when insurance pays for x rays or a consultation, that isn't "free." So now, I am stuck rescheduling myself for another endodontist. Hopefully, my tooth will still be savable by the time I get in somewhere else. read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Nudera for a root canal. As soon as I met him I felt like yes this the right man for the job. He is laser focused on you as a patient. This place was great. They saw me within a few days notice to help me for a complicated root canal. They have a 360 X-ray scanning machine which really helps to see the problem areas much better than a standard 2d image. All of my questions were answered and the staff were all very friendly. I had my first and only root canal here in May 2015 upon the recommendation of my dentist. She had placed my first crown and I experienced so much pain and difficulty with it, she sent me here for a root canal to be done through the problematic crown. I came back to to the endodontist at 6 months instead of 1 year post procedure, as I still had pain. I was basically blown off. It is now December 2017 and I still have pain. I see my original negative review was removed. I would recommend you consider a different practice for your endodontic needs. Or at the very least, seek a second opinion. read more

Yelp is customers and clients giving reviews for other users to reference so that no one else would be subject to bad practice, or in many other cases, so that we can share good experience with good business. I was referred to Dr. Chon through my dentist for a root canal (which I had put off for at least 10 years). I went for the initial exam in which they took x-rays and a CT scan of my lower jaw. I then met with Dr. Chon who explained everything to me, down to the actual procedure. He knew I was very nervous about the whole process but told me not to worry. I returned a few weeks later for the root canal and again expressed my fears. Dr. Chon was extremely patient and professional with me. He continually asked me if I was doing ok during the procedure. Afterward, he explained the procedure to me again and told me everything he did. I really did not have a lot of pain and I can't believe I put it off for so long. Dr. Chon was very friendly, professional and very nice to me. If you are a chicken like I am, I would recommend Dr. Chon as he will ease you through the entire procedure. read more

As a response to my previous review (which is currently among the not recommended reviews with other negative reviews), Dr. Nudera explains that the insurance sometimes reimburse more than they expected and then Specialized Endodontic Solutions issue a refund promptly. They never provided my insurance company with the documents the insurance requested to finish processing my claim resulting in an overpayment on my part of over $100. As the person in charge of billing explained to me, they are not legally required to use the rates that were negotiated with the insurance to create an estimate so they don't (and use a much higher rate of course) which results in a higher estimate than it should be. They make you sign a treatment plan before the doctor has even seen you and determined the course of action. I was in a hurry and didn't take the time to get an estimate from my insurance. I would recommend that anyone seeking treatment there, get an estimate first from their insurance and only agree to pay that amount. Or go somewhere else altogether. I have not experienced such issues anywhere else. read more

Patient beware!!! This office LIED TO my daughter who is a struggling college student!! They quoted a procedure low even though they had all the information from our insurance company (the insurance company has record of this conversation). Now they are harassing her about the balance. How pathetic is this? When I called to ask I was met with a condescending Nelly who admitted the insurance company gave her the percentage they would pay for this service. They took away any option for her to have a different procedure that she could afford. If they have to lie to their patients to get business, I would think very hard before I give them any. read more
