Let me tell you I had all my upper teeth pulled at Aspen Dental and they put in a full upper denture. That was a nightmare. However a few days later I had many REALLY sore spots where I could t even wear the denture I was so depressed and discouraged I called Aspen to have them get me in to adjust it so I could wear it. They told me they couldn't get me in for 14 days !!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter did some research in my area and called Modern essence and they said they could help me the next day. I was scared but as soon as the sweet dental assist greeted me I felt like I was in good hands the dentist and Tony the lab tech and the dental assistant all came to my rescue!!!! The tech sat with me and took the denture in and out and shaved down all the sore spots. When I left I had no pain !!!! the next day or so I felt one other spot and called them they got me in the same day and fixed it!!!! They were so accommodating and kind I recommend them to anyone who feels they are not getting the care they deserve. The office is beautiful and clean and everyone is very nice. Make them your new dentist they care much more that the previous place where I felt like just a number. read more

I normally don't leave subpar reviews but I didn't have the same experience similar to what others reviewed. I came here based on the positive reviews. First- The dentist technicians are good. Ericka and Dr Brainard did good work and made me feel comfortable during my procedures. I first came here and was told I had two cavities and needed $800 worth of deep cleaning. Ok done, they ask you to fill out a survey on what's most important to you (trust, price, comfort, etc...) that was kinda strange but ok whatever. No choice for all of the above I guess. So I agree to the $800 of deep cleaning including laser treatment, did all the producers 4-5 visits meanwhile never took care of my 2 cavities. They tried to schedule me for another cleaning, and I was like hold up, what about my 2 cavities? Okay so they fixed my cavities and now I need an additional $1400 in Dental work (root canal & crown) I was upset because I would of like to have known that before spending $800 on deep cleaning. During my laser cleaning I was told the laser may be hot, It wasn't the laser that burned my mouth but the hot metal of the laser instrument touching the inside of my cheek. They require you to sign a paper basically saying they will add laser treatments to all cleaning going forward which I didn't agree to. Another thing I wasn't okay about was the young pretty women with the trimmed eyebrows who gave me sassy attitude about requesting to reschedule an appointment 72 hours before hand and giving me a lecture about how appointments work, this after spending $800.00. The constant calls to schedule the next cleaning were annoying as well. Reminded me of telemarketers. Good dental technicians, but my overall experience was unsatisfactory. Upon writing this review I am at a different dentist office in a neighboring town and the Dr doesn't recommend a root canal or crown at this time. I'm glad I went for a 2nd opinion. My advice, get a 2nd opinion after coming here. read more

Nothing but good words to say about my experience with Dr Llanes and Modern Essence Dentistry. They were very hands on and accommodating. Cleanings were always a pleasant experience. I had a rotated tooth that did not bother me but when I mentioned to Dr Llanes of his recommendation because you can see it in photos, he recommended Invisalign to straighten my smile and fix my bite. It was a long process but the results were amazing. The attachments were probably the most adjustment I had to deal with but even then it was very minor. But you get use to it in like 1 week, after that its just routine dental care such as frequent brushing and flossing. You get more confident on each tray and every new tray you use can be really tight but to pain or discomfort, it is also the most addicting feeling. Never had to use any pain control because to discomfort and very convenient. Highly recommend to see Dr Llanes and his team. read more

Who doesn't hate going to the dentists? Not me. I've been through a few different dentists in my life and none of them has stuck longer than a year. Either because my insurance changed or they became out-of-network, but mostly because I had terrible experiences. One dentist told me after only seeing my x-rays that I needed surgery and proceeded to add all kinds of things that are wrong with my teeth. THAT scared me to death and she didn't even try to comfort me. Never saw her again, thank God. I still remember that horrible feeling I got when leaving her office 2 years ago. But I must start 2012 by doing something good for myself, right? Right. Looking at my in-network provider list, I found one by my house. Modern Essence. Yelped it - good reviews. Google reviews? Raving for this place. I booked an appointment and just had my deep cleaning yesterday. Oh how I love Mary Ann the hygienist! She is gentle and extremely thorough; I feel so safe in her hands. There's a TV in the room and she gave me sunglasses to protect my eyes from those bright lights. Everyone in the office was very nice and courteous. From Jennifer at front desk (who called me today to see how I was doing) to the assistants to Dr. Brainard (who extracted my last wisdom tooth), they treat you with respect - I was able to relax more than I usually am at dentist's office. My appointment time was 2.30pm and I think by 2.35pm I was already sitting in the "exam chair." Talk about being on time, I LOVE IT! I'll be back for another cleaning next week and after that, looking forward to see them every 6 months! read more

Got my teeth cleaned 3 times so far by Maryann and she's very gentle. Everyone explains whats going on thoroughly and keeps me at ease. I hadn't been to the dentist is a very long time, but I knew I had some problems that needed to be dealt with. I was referred here by 1800Dentist. The office turned out to be right around the corner from where I live. During my first appointment I had the most thorough cleaning I have ever had (I probably really needed it). The dentist examined me after that and then we sat down and he told me exactly what he thought needed to be done, gave me options, a treatment plan, and the approximate cost. At one point, he was talking kind of fast, and I just looked at him and said, "What?" He had no problem going through it again. I went back twice more to have cavities filled. It wasn't the most pleasant experience of my life, but they made is as easy and comfortable as possible. I have problems with jaw pain, and Dr. Llanas made sure to stop and give me chances to move my jaw around while he filled the cavities. I was very grateful. I have to say I am very relieved to have these problems taken care of, and I'm happy I found a neighborhood dental office with extremely friendly, caring, and competent people from the front desk to the dentist. It was very obvious everyone was very skilled at their jobs. I will definitely be going back for preventive care. It's also nice to know that I now have a dentist to go to in case an emergency occurs. I always worried about that before. I definitely recommend Modern Essence Dentistry. read more

A quick search brought me to Modern Essence Dentistry, it is located in an unassuming shopping center. It was nice to start fresh with a new dentist, I got my dental timeline all figured out as I needed several things done. A little less than a year as a patient and I've gotten several cleanings and just completed my Invisalign treatment. I was completely satisfied with the whole process and coordination of my treatment. The staff is fantastic, Dr. Llanes has great chair side manners and is very approachable. The front desk staff is easy to work with when it comes to billing and scheduling appointments. The feature that sold me on this practice is that they have TVs in each room, I get to watch the Food Network during my appointment! Doctor can only perform basic dentistry; same as a student in college. Anything else he ALWAYS says you need to go see a root canal specialist; same one too: Renovo in Schaumburg. Seems like a bit of "double dipping" going on here; at my expense. Went back to my old dentist and took care of a loose cap same day; no root canal specialist needed. Takes x-rays when not requested just to make some more money and billing department is ALWAYS making mistakes. Horrible doctor. Hygienist is good though. read more

I just moved back to the Chicago area and needed to find a new dentist. Dr. Brainard Llanes was on my insurance provider list so I called and got a new patient appointment within a week. Today was my visit for a cleaning and a check-up and I'm extremely happy! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a full fridge of bottled water in the waiting room available for anyone free of charge. It was near 100 degrees today and that was awesome to have. I filled out the normal first-time patient paperwork and was called back to my exam room about two minutes after I turned in the paperwork. The hygienist showed me a remote control and told me I could change the channel on the flat screen tv right in front of me (I didn't have to - it was the Cubs game). Dr. Llanes came in first to introduce himself - he was very nice - and he actually explained my insurance policy and went over what I would be getting done. Right away I had that feeling of relief that this dentist cared about the fact that what insurance covers matters to the patient - me! I got my x-rays done and Dr. Llanes came back in to look those over. Bad news - I had assumed correctly that I had a cavity. Good news - Dr. Llanes was able to take care of it right then instead of only doing the cleaning and making me schedule another appointment for the filling (I hate having to make two appointments!). He filled my cavity - no pain, really quick, and then straight into my teeth cleaning. What impressed me the most about this visit was the way Dr. Llanes handled my ongoing "baby tooth problem". Every dentist I have ever seen has looked at my baby tooth with no permanent tooth to fill its spot (I'm 31 yrs old) and told me, "I need to pull that tooth out and put a bridge in", and I've always refused. Dr. Llanes sat down and told me my options, the risks, and explained everything! Finally - a dentist who didn't just want to pull it out. I now know that it's fine to keep until it causes me problems and after hearing my options I know I will get an implant. It was so refreshing to have an actual conversation back and forth instead of just being told what had to be done to my teeth. My appointment started on time, I got all the work I needed done in one appointment, it was painfree, and I finally felt like the dentist saw me, and not just another mouth full of teeth in the chair - he sat, he talked with me, he asked me questions and listened to me, he answered my questions...
