I highly recommend BoxUp. The boxes were picked up and delivered on time in excellent condition by friendly, hard-working people. Renting reusable moving crates was probably the smartest decision in our moving process. It's not just the best decision for the environment, it's the most practical way to move. Having a stack of empty crates ready to be filled helps you pack faster. Having a date set when the crates need to be picked up helps motivate you to unpack! BoxUp was also very accommodating when we ran out of boxes and had to order more, and when I needed to adjust the pickup time of day. I recommend ordering at least 3 dollies, especially if you're doing the move yourself. We are so please with our Boxup experience! Despite the time slot we needed not being available online, they were able to accommodate our last-minute needs over the phone. Reuben was like a cheerleader for us when he dropped the boxes off, and he arrived at the very beginning of the drop-off and pick-up time windows (after giving us a 15 minute heads up, of course). The 35 boxes seemed like a lot at first for my one bedroom apartment, but it ended up being the perfect amount (we used them all). We also really liked the paper to wrap glasses, and it worked like a charm as nothing broke during our move process. I highly recommend Boxup! I found this company in the middle of a moving emergency - namely I had to switch movers on a Friday for a Monday move and the new movers couldn't pack me so I would have to box up everything in 2 days. Considering I had one leftover Amazon box and I was recovering from knee surgery meaning I couldn't carry things up and down stairs, I needed a place to deliver a lot of boxes and supplies asap. It was also the last week of July so yeah . . . rough. After a Yelp search, I reached out to 5 different firms. Lily was the first to get back to me. I was a disaster but she calmly focused me and rearranged their schedule to accomodate me. She got 25 boxes and supplies delivered to me immediately by two lovely gentlemen who were quick, efficient and even made friends with my super-mad-at-the-world-because-we-were-moving dog. The boxes were a dream - easy to pack, easy to move, requiring about 1/4 of the paper and bubblewrap my prior moves had required. I especially loved the glass box as I have about 57 coffee mugs (what?) and this didn't hurt or scuff a single one. I was packed in 2 days and unpacked in 2 days, requiring them only a week (THAT EASY). This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had with a moving company. Their customer service was top notch. I rented 35 boxes for two weeks. It ended up being cheaper than buying boxes for my 1 bedroom move. Not to mention, more eco-friendly. The delivery was on time and the delivery man was very friendly and professional. A dolly and pull truck was included in the delivery, which ended up being a HUGE help. When it came time to retrieve the boxes from the new location, everything worked out smoothly. I will never go back to cardboard moving boxes again! So glad I got the recommendation for Box-Up from my moving company. We went with the 2br package (50 bins), and it was the perfect amount. Also so helpful that it comes with a dolley to use during the rental period. SO much time saved not having to purchase, put together, take apart, and dispose of paper boxes (plus eco-friendly), AND the design of the bins is really genius. The way they open, close, and stack made it SO easy to pack and they are designed for every detail even such as being able to hold them and put them down without smushing your fingers! I've used BoxUp a few times now and they never disappoint. Always deliver and pick up on time, and are always super communicative and friendly to deal with. My last move hit a snag which meant I had to keep the boxes longer than anticipated but Lily was super helpful and helped coordinate an extension with me. Lily has been nothing but rude and abrasive. Every question I asked her was met with hostility. Moving is stressful enough, no one needs your terrible attitude. Absolutely fantastic experience. They carried the boxes up our 6 floor walkup in Manhattan quickly and on schedule. Despite it being a warm day they were fast and professional. The boxes were AWESOME for moving. Although we should have gotten slightly more, we opted for 35 for our 1 bed + den, but should have gone with 40. The warddrobe boxes were great, and the dish and plate dividers worked well. The actual move went so much faster, just in terms of time savings the boxes were worth it. Lily is great! Highly recommended. Boxup are beyond amazing. For the same price as it would cost to buy a tonne of cardboard that you have to pick up, tape up then disassemble and dispose of yourself, you get all the boxes you need, delivered to your door. This company is EXCELLENT! The crates are so much easier and faster to pack than boxes ... especially using the glass and dish dividers. I had a ton of supplements and spices/herbs and oils and bath products in glass bottles because I hate plastic and they fit so well in the glass dividers. There's room to throw in light things on top. Lily could not have been nicer or better with her communication. Everything was clean and both delivery and pickup were at the times we set. It's super convenient, you don't have to build a million boxes together and deal with messy tape. And a bonus that it's an eco-friendly way to move reusing these crates. They deliver right to your doorstep! (extra fee to bring up a walk up) I love that they give you labels to keep organized and easy zip ties to secure closing the lids. I did a 2 week rental, so it was a great amount of time to slowly unpack. The pick up was even better, I had all my boxes waiting on ground level. When I buzzed them in about 5 min later I got a text saying they had everything and thanking me. Didn't even see them! A few tips - The boxes can get heavy, but I personally used a moving service. I ended up using all 25 of my crates. I had a very small apt so didn't need to get a dolly to move crates around, but if you're in a bigger space it's probably helpful to assist with packing. This was my first time using BoxUp (I usually use BinIt) and I can't say I was terribly impressed. The delivery window was 8:30-10:30. They arrived very early at 7:45 AM on a Saturday morning and woke me up. I had to let them in in my pjs which was very uncomfortable for me as a female alone with 2 male delivery guys. They also did not provide me with nearly enough zip ties (enough for about half the boxes) which is confusing to me because it's really easy math. The boxes are standard and I do really like their wardrobe boxes. Customer service wasn't great, not friendly or accommodating but that's not important to everyone. read more

Because signing my new lease took a little longer than I was comfortable with, I waited until the last minute to secure services and materials for moving. Since I lucked out by getting a batch of services who really did the job well, I feel like I should recognize their quality so others can make moving less painful! BoxUp was one of these. I contacted several reusable box companies days before my move and BoxUp was the only one willing to wedge a box delivery in for me the very next day (thank you so much!). I was living with roommates so only moving with the contents of my room and my kitchen items, so I did the mini move with 15 boxes. I literally packed 15 boxes and nothing more, so this was the perfect estimate. Everyone I spoke to by phone and email was extremely helpful and courteous (the gal who called me to schedule a pickup time was very patient even when I was in a loud subway station and got the job done). All of the boxes were clean, the delivery and pickup guys were extremely polite, and I cannot recommend the eco-friendly and belonging-protecting aspects of the reusable bins enough. One extremely minor gripe--please include more zip ties! The bins stay shut and I didn't have any mishaps but had my moving crew been less careful I can imagine some disasters.
