We love stopping by the Truro and Provincetown sites in the summer too. Everything is always fresh and made to order. It's a great stop on your way to the beach. We discovered that the Welfleet site is closed for Sundays in the winter, despite the "open today" notice on Yelp. The Provincetown site is also closed for winter. read more

This is the creator of the best sandwich in the world. I come here multiple times whenever I am in cape cod and have enjoyed their well curated rollwich menu since 1985. I suggest adding hot peppers and special sauce to everything. The owners are lovely people and these delicious combinations are untouchable. I consider myself a sandwich connoisseur of sorts. I think tomorrow I'll have a "monument" with hot peppers and some other additions. There are some interesting turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce that are aces too. I generally go back and forth between the turkey and ham boards but my mom swears by the "lobster my way". Don't cheat yourself and buy a bag of kettle chips as the crunch combo with these brilliant and fresh creations is sublime. read more

Not a fan. Giving 3 stars because it was clean and the food was fresh. Basically, look at the menu before you go. I looked at it and was like, "This really doesn't seem like something I'd like, but I'll give it a shot." Growing up, I spent my summers in Wellfleet and eating Box Lunch a minimum of once a week. My mother, who used to work there herself, was a huge fan. After selling our house there, we've made trips up, and came back with a cooler full of sandwiches to enjoy back home. It pays off to be adventurous there, something I've learned over the years. The breakfast wraps are to die for. I'll always be a huge fan, and can't wait for my next visit. I am personally a big fan of the Porky's Nightmare. read more

My last Porky's was incredible with the red onion. John Alden is great too but not as filling. I hate to inform the easily satisfied tourists that they are probably enjoying canned Canadian lobster which ideally would have quality lobster base added with enough mayo oh and mayo the bread. read more

We got rollwiches to take with us twice as we hiked in Cape Cod national seashore. The staff were friendly and efficient. I chose the Blue Pocket (sort of like a Cobb salad without meat) and my husband got a special one day and the one with turkey and cranberry sauce the next day. Sandwiches held up fairly well to being carried for several hours, except the last 1-2 inches of bread became saturated with dressing and disintegrated. Kudos to box lunch for being a really tasty, reasonably affordable option that gets you (and your sandwiches) on your way to the beach pronto. We found this place on a whim (and luckily during the off-season) and it was awesome! I cannot get over the rollwhich which is this super yummy flatbread they wrap around your sandwich innards. I had the lobster roll (which comes with a free cup of clam chowder!) for 9.99. It was great--not too mayonnaise-y, a decent amount of lettuce, juicy tomato...I just wish I would have remembered to order avocado on it. Everything was very affordable and wonderful. I really really want to try the guac pot---while we were eating three people came in and ordered just that! I bet it is great! read more

As the years go by, places come and go, but one thing stays the same. Box. Lunch. Box Lunch has now got franchise up and down the Cape, nearly one in every town (Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Dennis, Hyannis, am I missing any?) and the original in Wellfleet has remained the best (Hyannis is a close second, however). I've been eating these sandwiches for about 12 years now. The California Dreamer will always be my favorite. Truth be told, I don't think a lot of people have really tried more than two or three sandwiches off the menu. You get one you like and stick with it. The only problem with Box Lunch is ever year it gets more expensive. I can't take a star off for that, because everything else in this world does as well. read more
