Bowstring Pizza and Brewyard - Bars Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

Arrived a Friday night several weeks ago. Parking a slight challenge. Met with family and friends to have some drinks, all appeared to have a glass at the ready and the bar was humming. Good service, fast moving lines. The pizza wait was far too long, thus am unable to offer input. Good for all ages, would like to see some arcade equipment for added entertainment. read more

Great place - parking nightmare - food great - atmosphere great - very busy and happening.

Ugh, I used to LOVE bowstring, but it has kind of gone down hill. The pizza recipe has definitely changed and is sadly not as good. And that is what we loved the most! Also I feel like $90 for two pizzas is outrageous!! The drinks are good but it doesn't seem like the workers really care to make the drinks the correct way. This makes me sad because I used to love bowstring! read more

I've only been here twice and both times were at the outdoor venue for music. I ordered pizza both times and both times it was excellent!

I like this place for the pizza, but not for the brewyard. Bartenders are very slow and rude. The pizza (from Vic's Italian Restaurant) is absolutely amazing! Parking is a nightmare, but there is a lot of nice outdoor seating if you can find a spot and get there. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to go for football, day drinks, new beers, great seltzer selection and overall great ambience. Their outdoor space is like no other outdoor space in Raleigh and their pizza is top notch! read more

Happened upon this place when I was in town for work. LOVED the pizza and the drink specials. Met lovely local people. Live music was great. Enjoyed the fire pits and the whole warm feel of the place. Just loved that this place is dog-friendly. Would return without hesitation. read more

Good food and drinks, but matters on time of day you go, and who is working. Sadly we went at a time of day where the outside area was being used as an obnoxious parents kid hangout where the kids were running around, trying destroy stage equipment, being mean to other kids, and the restaurant help on duty did nothing about it. Luckily, there are better pizza places around where you don't need to deal with the possibility of having a kid assault your toddler and have to get into a shoving match with their parents. While the employees don't care about customer and child safety. read more

I very much enjoyed my time at Bowstring. There's a huge amount of outdoor seating, there was live music across the parking lot from where we were sitting and it sounded good. My drink was delicious, a watermelon mimosa. The food looked good, I had eaten dinner before, so I didn't have any, but my friends had pizza, wings, garlic knots and they looked and smelled delicious. The only thing that was weird was that if the parking lot is full you have to park around the corner and leave your car in a parking lot and then take a shuttle bus back to Bowstring. If I had been alone I would not have liked that. read more

Great atmosphere for everyone! They have a great setup for adults and kids. The pizza was phenomenal, I enjoyed the wings and great selection of beers. Will definitely be going back! read more

Bowstring Pizza and Brewyard - Baked Buffalo wings Sausage and cheese pizza - Bars Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

Great outdoor seating! The yard area is huge, and it gets full sun which is great in the winter and not as great in the summer. The patio space has plenty of heaters for wintertime, and the inside space has good seating. They even offer games, bar seating, and they have roll-up doors for great weather days. The pizza is delicious. The wings had good flavor but they were definitely over baked and small. The beer selection isn't great, but unlike some "breweries", they have liquor as well. read more

Three stars because this place is expensive for what you get. But they have vegan pizza, which is a plus. Always on the look out for Vegan/Vegetarian options. The drinks(cocktails) are $10 - $13 dollars, they come in clear plastic cups. They are easy drinking, and minimal alcohol. Noone at the table could taste any alcohol in the drinks, but on a hot day you don't get too picky. The better option will probably be to go for the beer on tap. Pretty good rotation and mix. Service is good. From what I could tell there were 2 different sections to eat and drink. You order at the bar and get a number to put on your table. They have 2 overflow parking lots, one of which is a 3-5 min shuttle away. No extra cost for the shuttle, but tipping signs placed with in view sight. I suppose if you stick to beer and just plain cheese slices, the place is worth it. Don't know that I would go back due to price/quality of the drinks & food. read more

Parking is terrible, you have to park down at a random church for overflow parking. The bartenders don't wear masks. The pizza takes 1.5 hours to come and is meh. The beer is okay but nothing noteworthy. Overall, there's better breweries in the area to check out. read more

I've tried not to be biased and judge a place on new covid related things but WOW does this have a lot of outdoor seating, and kid friendly. Really this is where you come for games, outdoor seating, space. Now they don't brew their own beer which was a slight letdown, and I didn't see any specials other than crown on a Sunday... which I'm not really that much of a partier. But kid friendly for sure! Convenient food truck set up with planned seating. Oh and I'm not going to comment on their pizza because it's NY style pizza and I don't eat that stuff since Chicago deep dish is far better. read more

A large group of us visited here recently for the first time. It looked like a fun place and we were looking to enjoy ourselves, which we did. We ordered quite a bit of food and drinks. We liked the pizzas, but the wings were below average, as were the mixed drinks. The girl at the counter could have been friendlier, but in her defense, it was somewhat busy. The question I have is regarding the charge, which I didn't look at closely enough until later. I was charged $10 dollars tax on an $81. bill (see picture), which comes out to about 13.24 % tax. I'm not from NC, so maybe there is something that explains this that I'm not aware of. I didn't notice any signage there that explained any hidden charges, and neither did the receipt. I visited other restaurants in the area, and the tax was much lower. Hopefully, it is legit, and the person who monitors this page can explain it. Otherwise, I'd say there's something going on here that shouldn't be. read more

This place is really cool! There's a great drink selection, lots of outdoor seating, games inside, and the pizza was delicious. It's awesome that they sell both whole pies and slices. They may have changed up their pizza recipe recently because a lot of the photos look different from what they're serving now but maybe the also sell mini pizzas. It would be cool if they'd add some more non-alcoholic options to the menu as well in case I'm stopping by for slices with people that don't drink. I'll definitely be back! read more

Pizza was terrible. Beer choices were decent. Service also terrible. Not the best place for little kids so I don't know why it says kid-friendly read more

No parking! Expensive canned beer! Over an hour wait for pizza on a Sunday afternoon! Not many options for pizzas either which means they should be able to crank them out. The pizza was okay. read more

We stopped in for after-work drinks on a rainy Wednesday and practically had the place to ourselves although I can see it being popular on a pretty day. We only enjoyed cocktails so I'll be back to update after a future visit that includes the $10 pizzas. There's a decent wine menu selection, good cocktail lineup (although our Bulleit Old Fashioneds were a little too heavy on the Ango and Luxardo), and a nice variety of local taps. Lots of good social distancing practices in play, too! The old garage vibe is super cool and I loved the blues music selection. read more

Ugh, was excited when told about bowstring but it was not for me. For starters, the parking is horrendous. I went to one of the overflow lots, only to be told my the business that it is not overflow parking and if i didn't move my car, it would be towed. from there, had to park in a pretty hard to maneuver lot about an 8 minute walk away. The pizza was okay, nothing too crazy. All of the bartenders had spoiled, rude, careless attitudes. Not to mention the smell in there...yikes read more

Love the atmosphere here. Always lively and a lot going on. Great beer selections. Pizza always and food truck options. Not sure if they have anything online about their live music, but have come several times when there happened to be live music. Lots of spots to order food and drinks. Nice and spread out, so easy to come with a big group. Also lots of young families read more

Clearly serving pizza to be open, but doing it well. The place makes storage max look boring. Yard games, mixed drinks and beer. But wait, its a restaurant with wood fired pizza with up to 3 toppings. Pepperoni, sausage and/or banana peppers. Plenty of spaced out seating inside and out. read more

The pizza is a cross between a frozen pizza and decent pizza...room for improvement. The bartenders are less than enthusiastic but the vibe and games are cool! read more

Drinks are standard, food is subpar. Do not go on a weekend, the wait for food is 2 hours and when it arrives it isn't even very good. Could make a homemade pizza from scratch, cheaper, faster and better. Cool atmosphere saves this from being a one star experience. read more

Great Brewery addition to Five Points! Features two large outdoor spaces with partial shade that are family and pet friendly-- a grass yard with picnic tables (kind of like Ponysaurus in Durham) and a patio adjacent to the main bar building. Enter the bar to order a drink then go sit outside. All staff was wearing masks. Good selection on tap with a mix of local breweries and other standard beers. Wine available too! read more

We went for the first time and they literally had no COVID-19 protocols. No bartender was wearing a mask, and no guest was asked to. The bartenders were vaping while customers were waiting in line, which says all I need to know about management. There was no social distancing enforced of any kind. Additionally, the drinks were straight mix with limited/watered down liquor. This place is a covid super spreader event waiting to happen. Pretty sure they will be on Bar Rescue soon. read more

We've wanted to check this place out for a while. On a prior attempt, there was a sign saying it was a 1-2 hour wait for a pizza so we left. Returned this past weekend; Saturday afternoon. Parking is scarce. Then I thought there might be Bowstring beer - but that must not be a thing. They have about 10 rotating (?) taps. Didn't love the choices, either (only lager or pilsner was like a big Mexican beer company, nothing local or craft). The beers and cocktails we ordered were served in plastic cups! The cocktails were so basic - Tito's and soda and they charged me $13 for a single and $16 for a double (which makes no sense - so $3 for the vodka and $10 for a plastic cup of club soda?). No idea why it is so popular. Never tried the pizza but the rest of the experience told me all I need to know. read more

Okay...we went on a Saturday afternoon around 4:00, parking lot was already full and we had two toddlers so parking in the extra lot, across the street behind snoops wasn't ideal, but we did it. The side patio was reserved for a private event and then the lawn area was also being sold as a "ticked" event since they had bands which wasn't communicated at all on social or the website. We ended up grabbing a picnic table where the lawn games are and it was fine. Pizza was delicious, I thought it was well worth the price even though others said it's overpriced. If you are trying to make a reservation, do it 24-48 hours in advance, otherwise you are out of luck. Beer selection was meh...but overall the vibe was fun. read more

Pizza was ordered at 6:55. Promised at 7:35. Still waiting at 8:10. No one seems to really care. 8:31 update. Manager came out and said there was an issue with the screen. No ETA on pizza. Already paid or would have left. Pizza received at 8:44. Manager said he would comp it but didn't see him when I got the pizza. Will contact him if not. read more

Horrible parking situation. Ordered wings which took 30 minutes to get and they were awful. Not a good beer selection. If you ask the bartender/cashier any questions they have a attitude. I see there are a lot of negative reviews on here and there is a reason for that. read more

Terrible. Waited an hour for three slices of pizza. For it to not even come out. We had to get our money back. Alcoholic drinks are watered down also. Pizza slices are reheated... it shouldn't take an hour to heat up 3 slices. read more

This is a fun spot! Stopped in here with a group of about 10. There are two sitting areas, one near the bar and the other quite far away with a bunch of picnic tables. We ended up at the picnic tables and it was a bit of a hike to come back in for a beer or to use the bathroom, but there was a lot of seating. The picnic tables have fake grass under them, that we noticed had a lot of ants and mosquitoes in it. We ordered two pizzas, one was a cheese and one was a supreme. The pizza was huge and pretty good. The real winner though was the buffalo wings which were really delicious! They have a nice selection of beer on tap, and there are some options for non-craft beer drinkers like cocktails and standard lagers etc. I do have one gripe about this place, and it's the parking. The parking lot is so tiny and you're forced to pretty much park at a random lot down the street. When we got there we had to park over there and walk about a quarter of a mile to get back over. Not super annoying, just kind of inconvenient. At the end of the night they had a shuttle that brought us back to the parking lot, which was nice. The parking lot is extremely tight and hard to get out of though read more

Avoid this place like the plague, two hours for a pizza and when you ask about the status they tell you "it's not in the oven" and then a hour later you ask and they say "5 more minutes" took 3 hours for a pizza. Absolutely mismanaged, I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and never have seen a place this bad. read more

I felt incredibly uncomfortable here. It felt like a super spreader event for COVID-19 full of careless college students. They were not limiting the amount of people, they were not enforcing masks for customers, they were not promoting social distancing. The pizza was good, the beer on tap was refreshing, although we had to rush to drink it and leave because we did not feel safe with the lack of health and safety measures. I hope this does not reflect poorly on the pizza truck, but the rest of the brewyard needs to do way better. read more

We went to watch live music and eat pizza. They have a covered music space outside along with a full service bar outside. The food was very good and the service was great. This place is great. I came out to see my friends band play here. I noticed they had some bad reviews but I couldn't disagree more. The staff and service was A+. Super welcoming, kind, and helpful. Great space. Parking is not bad, but this place is great so of course it's going to fill up fast! The pizza was pretty solid (coming from a New Yorker). And it came out in under 10 minutes. Great drink selection as well. 10/10! read more

Glad to see another place open with lots of outdoor space. The service was little below par but with enough waving to get attention you can get a server. We sat at a table outside (side porch). Pizza was pretty good (food truck partner). Drinks were good. The place got busier and busier while we were there. As we were leaving, we could not help but to notice how packed it was inside with more than 9 out of 10 people in the packed crowd not wearing masks and less than a half foot apart from each other. Disappointed and disturbing to see that. Likely the next covid super spreader event/location. Didn't get a good photo of it as we didn't want to go near that situation. But if you zoom indoors, you can see a glimpse- what you see is about 5% of the actual crowd size. The place was packed with people talking loudly over each other, closely standing and packed, and again only about 10% of the people in the packed indoor crowd wore masks. The walls/doors are open to let air in but the place was so packed it didn't matter and still indoors with only one side of the four walls open. A very typical bar scene of pre-covid days. We all miss those days... boy do I miss it... but with this kind of behavior accepted at establishments like this is why the covid positive number is going up exponentially and more deaths everyday. read more
