This is a hidden gem in Raleigh. After driving past the place and number of times we finally decided to give it a shot. The place is split into a garage-like main area, which has Gulf Oil decor, board games and a cool post industrial vibe. There's also a brew yard that had live music and a pet friendly area. The pizza is good but I just had a cheese slice. I'd highly recommend as a place to grab a mid-afternoon drink, watch a game or just relax. read more

Flew in from out of state, visiting my daughter. Ordered pizza and 2 appetizers. They said it would be 55-65 minutes for delivery which I was ok with. I could track the delivery driver and saw where she was waiting on my order for a long time (around 25 minutes) It was finally delivered almost 2 hours after placing my order and the garlic knots were just hard bread knots with no butter/garlic and no marinara. The same for the mozzarella sticks, cold and no marinara. The pizza had pretty good flavor, if I were to try them again I would definitely go in person. read more

I am all around impressed. I grew up in Raleigh and so wish this were around when I was in my 20s. We visited on a busy, beautiful Sunday, 2 families with 4 kids between us, plus our sweet puppy. The bartenders are efficient and business like, the food (Vic's food truck) is great. They even have gluten free pizza and baked wings for my borderline celiac daughter. I love that Bowstring has fancy beers on tap (that my companions drank) but aren't so fussy that they refuse to serve light beer because let's face it, beer snobs, switching to light beer is a difference maker on the next day, especially when you start with the delicious Watermelon Mint Margarita like I did! I really enjoyed this place last night. I haven't tried the food but really appreciate the atmosphere and decor. There's a large outdoor area with a stage where they had a band playing. Heaters were also turned on . Beer selection was a bit limited at the outdoor bar but staff was super friendly. I'll definitely be back. I will say the one downside I can see though is parking. read more

Cool atmosphere, but the lack of parking is why we don't go anymore. On weekends forget about it. You'll have to park several blocks away, and wait forever for food. I've also seen them have cars towed and customers run out to try to stop them. If you want happy repeat customers you really need to fix the parking issue. read more

The atmosphere is good and they have a good selection of drinks but it's expensive. I got 4 drinks 2 mixed drinks and 2 beers with a 16" inch pizza and it was 100$. This is our third time being here, we started going out of our way to come here when we are in town. So why only three stars? Sadly, each time we've been back it's been just a little bit worse than the previous, and never quite as good as the first. This time we came in on a cold rainy Sunday afternoon in February. There were only three other parties present (one of which was a family that had already received their food, and two other couples) so it wasn't busy. Still, it took over 40 minutes for our pizza to come out. The one bartender took an initial drink order, but never came to check on us or offer us refills. She was much more fascinated with either vaping or playing on her phone. We had to go up to the bar to get refills on drinks. There was a second bartender who did nothing in terms of serving us. After waiting 40 minutes for our pizza, my boyfriend went up to the bar to ask about the delay. The bartender acknowledged (not apologized) it was taking a while and said she would check on it. When our pizza came, I was a little distressed to see that the guy bringing it in (from where they bake them outside in the bus in the parking lot...a cool concept but sort of crappy execution when you think about how to protect one's pie from the elements on a cold rainy day) he made no effort to protect it from the rain. As in, no umbrella, no insulated bag, just a guy in a mask (Thank you for that) with a pie on a pizza pan. He dropped off the pie and walked away to the bar. We had to go up to the bar and ask for silverware, red peppers and parmesan cheese. The bartender retrieved the plasticware, but the guy who brought the pizza had to go back outside to get the peppers and parm. As always, the pie tasted great, maybe a little colder than it would have been if not for the trek across the parking lot in 35 degrees and then waiting for peppers and parm. Again while we were eating, no one ever came to check on us to see how everything was, if we needed any refills, etc. I hope management recognizes that it takes more than just good food to keep a restaurant successful. Without excellent service you won't keep good customers. I spent years as a waitress (back when it was called waitressing). I have family who work hard and have to support themselves and their children in the restaurant industry, and I will recognize excellent service with excellent tips. I acknowledge mediocre and poor service accordingly. I prefer to tip in cash, leaving it on the table at the end of the meal, and I indicate that on the credit card slip receipt as well. I hope that is a lesson going forward. Tips are earned, not assumed. If you ignore me throughout my meal, the tip you get will reflect that (I did leave a tip, just not a very generous one) read more

First visit was on a Sunday afternoon with awesome weather. Great renovated warehouse space, great outdoor space, good selection of local craft beers and didn't make it to the pizza. Bartender was obviously having a bad day-rude-and on this day, which I can only rate, Bowstring was a potential hot spot if you would like to contract COVID--no mask, no respect for social distancing. Found the uncrowded space under a tree to the left of the building, drank one beer and hit a few other breweries. Bowstring definitely caters to a certain crowd which is cool. Opens up more space at the other breweries we love. This place has tons of potential and hope they do well. read more

Was there on Saturday - no social distancing. They have a sign no mask no service. That did not happen. People were standing at bar with no masks on. No dedicated lines to place orders. Really disorganized. The place was packed. I don't know what the capacity is but they were shuttling people in. Don't they know there is a pandemic. Will not be back.
