We come here frequently, service and food are consistent, it is a little wait in comparison to other places but if you want a good sandwich it's worth it. I always order mine with NO SALT, their fries are over salted in my opinion. As far as their other foods, the bowls are really good and salads are decent (I don't care for the cheese they use in the salads). Homemade ranch dressing is awesome and the sneed sauce is perfect. From the outside this place doesn't look like much. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised at a bright, friendly atmosphere. It is a seat yourself establishment, and it was very busy the night we were there. We got lucky and a table opened up quickly. This place was LOUD. I couldn't hear my husband who was sitting across from me, or the waiter. Their craft beer selection is impressive. Drinks were a bit slow to arrive. We ordered, then waited quite a long time for our food. My son was given a full size chicken fingers and fries, even though we ordered from the kid's menu and he's only 4. We were charged full price but the bill was adjusted when we mentioned we wanted the kids size. The chicken fingers were bland and unimpressive. Chicken and breading, no seasoning whatsoever. I had a Pittsburgh-style chicken salad. It was also unimpressive. There were more fries than lettuce in the salad. Fries were also bland. My husband had a sandwich that he said was okay. We just moved to Monaca, and wanted to try some local places. Let me start by saying, we loved it! It was a little awkward to find, and the exterior made me wonder if it was an ok place to bring our kids. Once we got in, I realized we were all good. Banners of the local senior football and band members hung on the walls, along with other sports memorabilia and pull handles for various draft beers. The atmosphere was exactly what we had been looking for; a cozy hometown bar and grill. The servers were sweet and helpful. Now on to the food! It was great! I like trying different beers, so the wide range of craft beers was nice. The wings were perfectly cooked. Outside was crispy, while the inside was perfectly moist. The southwest ranch sauce was creamy and delicious. Portions were excellent. They do not skimp on the fries. My husband got the Buffalo chicken wrap, and it, too, was delicious. The ingredients were all fresh. So many times we've encountered limp, gross old lettuce and dry, cracking tortillas. Not with this. The wrap was still soft and pliable, and the lettuce was springy and crisp. The buffalo chicken was as well cooked as the wings. I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu. They had a promising burger selection, and some salads that look like they'd make a great lunch. I'm also anticipating getting the chance to try more beers and wing flavors. Had the steak salad and later tried the grilled cheese with brisket and that was delicious. If I were to be back in Monaca, Pa. this will be my go to place for brisket. Folks, don't be intimidated by the looks of the restaurant for not having windows. There is an old saying that hole in the wall restaurants are better and that is the case here. This is definitely a neighborhood hangout and also a Pittsburgh Steelers fans hangout. I used to order from there very often. On several occasions there where mistakes made but my daughters really liked their salads so I excused them. Last night I order a salad and boneless wings. Pretty simple right? Well I get the food home to my hungry children and open t-z he bag and to my surprise tbe wing sauce covered everything. OK things happen like that I completely understand. I already did my part by paying for and picking up my food which should've been checked and right before given to me. But they want $15 a hour minimum wage but can't put fries on a salad. I swear since covid restaurants have gotten lazy and feel you should just accept what they give you and you should be greatful. I was asked never to come back because I said "it's not my fault a retard couldn't put fries on a salad" and gladly I won't and will also tell everyone I know not to go there either. The waiter that I just saw taking out the trash and smoking a cigarette didn't wash his hands, took my drink order gave me a menu. From my seat I saw the nasty kitchen area. Cardboard on the floor covered in grease with trash everywhere. No food for me there... but the drink was affordable, hence the single star. Go hungry or eat somewhere else. I've been back several times to Bowser's and thought that maybe I'd increase the stars on my initial review. Every time, I've had a different waitress and none of them have introduced themselves. The service ranges from bad to dreadful, and my party is often wondering if we've been cut off on our lemon water or raspberry iced tea. I can honestly say that I have yet to have a satisfactory waitress. The wings are their hallmark food, but they look terrible. If I was to give you advice, I'd say go with the chicken tender sandwich. The fries are well below average, too. The sandwiches seem pretty consistent, but the amount of fries you get on the side ranges from 4-5 up to almost filling the basket. I understand why they do it, but I think it's kind of corny to charge for a side of Ranch dressing. No other restaurant I've ever been to does that. read more

I had sort of a middle of the road experience here...my waitress was the sweetest woman on the planet, which is of course always a plus. My food came out very quickly, another plus. The food was...just ok. It was "Smoked Chicken Wednesday" and the waitress told me they smoke it here, so I opted for the smoked chicken wrap. The chicken was good, although there wasn't a lot of it on the sandwich - more coleslaw than chicken. And the wrap it was in was stone cold - would have been much better warmed a little or at least at room temperature. She also encouraged me to get the fries ("they hand cut them here!")...ok, so I don't need much encouragement to get the fries! Flavorwise, good fries. But soggy, which was a letdown, especially because they LOOK great ("hand cut!"). So, I'd give them another chance and wouldn't tell people to stay away. The prices on some things might be slightly high but for the gigantic portions that you get its worth it. Bowser's gave me food poisoning. Seriously. Back in January, me and a few friends ordered take out from Bowser's. I had some kind of Primanti's knockoff sandwich (their sandwiches are all named after sports stars). The bread was soggy, the meat was cold, and the fries were dry. I decided to eat it anyways, and hours later, I had to run to the bathroom. I'll spare you the details, but needless to say, I had a horrible day after that. The place is as strange as a place can get away with in Pittsburgh. I expected a bar atmosphere but I'm not sure what it is. But I guess I get surprised frequently when out of NJ because they sensibly sell alcohol most everywhere you eat. There is a bar and it looks like it belongs in someone's basement. Tables were filled with families which surprised me again since I expected a bar atmosphere. The music was teen pop and mellow indie mix. At first, before entering, I thought I might end up staying here if it was fun. I know I will eat and run but that's ok if it's good food. The menu is bizarre to me but I settled on a salad that was fresh and crispy iceberg and the Heinz Ward Sandwich. From my understanding, it will be lean pastrami with provolone, cole slaw, fries and everything in an Italian roll. Side of gravy if the fries fall out. So the sandwich came out huge! Guy Fieri DD&D's huge. 5" high huge...but disappointing. The bread was sliced not a roll. Not a problem but 1" of the profile. The slaw was the next 3/4", the fries were 3" and the remaining 1/4" left to the meat. My math right? If not the point is there was no more than a 1/4", maybe 5 slices of thin but lean pastrami. If my eyes go foggy back at the hotel room watching the Grammy's I know it's from the carbs overload. And at $9 a sandwich that's a high margin dish. I can say I tried a Pittsburgh Style sandwich but I wouldn't order another one if this is indicative of the ratios. Btw, if you're reading this and you're from Pittsburgh, try out a Jewish Deli or diner anywhere in NJ or NYC and that's a pastrami sandwich Heinz Ward would want his name on it! read more

They have great reviews on their Pittsburgh sandwiches that didn't fail our unadventurous palates. I ordered the Hines Ward sandwich and Justin ordered the Arnold Palmer. Their appetizer platter is the bomb. Great samples of everything fried: zucchini, jalapeño, fried mac and cheese and mushrooms.
