From the reviews, and a repeated customer we met while travel in Cedar City told us about Bowmans, specifically about Prime rib nights Fridays and Saturdays. Our first visit during the week was Monday, initially a great meal , and met someone outside of the restaurant that said Prime Rib was the best they ever had, so we decided to go back on Friday, to have their prime rib, and this is my review, First of all, the young man that was the server, was great, cheerful and eager to please, I put no blame on him as he tried to be very accommodating to the fact that the largest beautiful slice of Prime rib , that I recieved was bloody rare, as I had requested med, and specifically said a light pink center. At the first initial presentation the meat was bloody rare, as soon as he layed down the plate, I didn't touch it, and said Im sorry dear, but that is to bloody for me to eat, he also said he thought so himself, can you send it back and do you have a grill? to put it on ,he assured they did,I waited patiently watching my husband eating his enormous salad, that looked totally delicious, the primerib arrived again looked like it was cooked in a liquid, and as the server could see my expression, he said cut iinto it so I could see if is cooked well enough, which I did, still bloody, I asked him again do you have a grill? Please put it on a grill, he takes it back, I heard a LOUD female voice from the kitchen area say No, I asked my husband did you hear that? he said no, at first but then heard her say later.. then again he heard a women's voice saying something, so Im waiting and finally the server comes back, the prime rib is in pieces, clearly not cooked on a Grill, I asked why? HD regulations he was told from the kitchen, then told me that they cannot take food that is served to a customer back negative way to cook a prized cut of meat like this I DID NOT ORDER A FRENCH DIP again not the fault of the young server, he tried his best, But as I was about to explain the dissatisfaction my husband stopped me, and let me tell you why Im a Chef, classical trained, I would have liked to heard from a manager immediately after the issue was going on, any well establishment, would have definitely sent one over, given the hypocrisy of the first excuse ,the second excuse, I never touch the plate, and you took into your kitchen. tried 2x times to make the inadequate problem worse..I come from one of the strictest heavily regulated health departments..meaning if you could not accommodate, slice another cut of prime rib throw it on the grill and cook it right, PROBLEM SOLVED read more

I got the Spanish trail pasta with chicken and no Alfredo sauce (3/5); it was ok but not anything special. It also did not come with the garlic bread mentioned on the menu. The shrimp escalante did not look like much food, especially for the price. However, the street tacos pulled pork looked like a great value! The service was good (4.5/5); our waitress was very nice and kept our drinks full! The restaurant is well decorated and has a country vibe, especially with the horse kennels right there (4/5). Friendly, clean restaurant with decent food, good value. I really liked the cornbread. The steak was ginormous and very filling. Chili soup was very good. The cheese curds and the jalapeño popper grilled cheese sandwich were salty and dry. But we enjoyed the experience enough to return for breakfast the next day, when we ordered eggs, bacon, peach cobbler à la mode, and El Bandido omelette (very good, lots of food). Cowboy themed family run restaurant, reminds me of cattlemen's ranch but without the bad food, overpriced dishes, and loud noise...... Negatives: -I hate that we're from California and that I we can't go here every week. Positives: -service was impeccable. Our server was very kind to us and regularly checked on us. Even the young man/boy checked on us too. -the food was great. My wife got carne asada tacos and I got the campfire steak. The campfire steak had a great wood fire char that lingers in your mouth. The kind of lingering that makes you want more. The Chimichurri sauce was amazing and even the sautéed vegetables were good. Vegetables are normally an afterthought, and this time I finished every last bite. My wife's tacos were okay, but she loved their breaded fries. So much so that we got a side of the fries to go. -the value was great and they even gave us free fresh cornbread at the start. They're little bites that were moist and went well with the sweet butter. Overall 5/5 This place makes me want to leave California lol read more

We got there on a Saturday at 5:30 without a reservation. It got really busy about 45 minutes later. If you're going to be there much after 6 or 6:30 I'd recommend a reservation. We received a friendly greeting when walking in and were seated right away. We ordered the hickory cheese fries which were great but a little much for two people. Three would be perfect, or come very hungry. We ordered the ribeye and meatloaf entrees. Both were very tasty and the steak was cooked to perfection. Drinks were topped off as we waited for our meals and during our meals. That's an important thing for me and they did great. The restaurant is decorated cowboy west style. There are cow hides and a coyote hide on the walls. Cowboy art as well. The desserts looked great but we were too full to order one. Next time....yes, we'll be back. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Cedar City. The meatloaf is my favorite, they serve it with a roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes (I think you get a choice of sides but that is what I get). You can add the Cowgirl salad for $4, it is SO GOOD! I can never finish this meal. They make lemonade and iced tea in house and serve an array of sodas and alcoholic beverages. This place is DISGUSTING!!!! SERIOUSLY, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! Go somewhere in downtown Cedar. We attempted to try something new and it was a HORRIBLE mistake!!!! There was a WHOLE FINGERNAIL IN MY FOOD!!! So UNSANITARY!!!!! Why weren't gloves being worn while they were making food?!!! I ran to the bathroom immediately and started throwing up excessively!! THE IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!! DISGUSTING!!! Shame on the health district for allowing this place to operate under these unsanitary conditions!! I cannot believe this happened!! Words cannot express how horrific this was!! I will be traumatized for a while from this!! They need higher standards and better management and training!! Food safety is a serious matter and I wouldn't be surprised to find other unsanitary conditions in their kitchen!!! I hope the health district looks into this place!!! I wanted to like this place ,but it just wasn't good. I tried to find something on the menu that sounded appealing... I finally settled on something only to be told that they didn't receive their meat order that day and several items were unavailable. I settled on the chicken fried steak. Not something I would normally order, but that's something they're known for... It was bland and oily, the "vegetables' were really just bell peppers with a couple of pieces of zucchini and some unmelted cheese thrown on top. The mashed potatoes were flavorless. My husband felt the same about his food. The vibe is weird. The service was poor and the menu is lacking. Like I said, I wanted to like it more, but I would not choose to go back. read more

We just recently moved to the Cedar City area from Nebraska and we have several eating establishments we would like to try. Today, we (Carolyn and Clint) visited Bowman's Cowboy Kitchen. Riley was our waiter and what an excellent young man that provided excellent service! He took the time to share some history of the place as well as letting us know the weekend evening specials for dinner. It felt like he was extending a personal invitation when he invited us back again. The place is clean and well kept. The food was excellent. This has been one of the best places we have found for dining, so far, since we moved here in January of 2025. read more

The food is great but when they say expect a 30-45 min wait and the people that came in after you are getting the check before your food arrives that is just not good at the 2 hour mark. Bowmans nails the kid's menu with the essentials: mini corn dogs, chicken tenders, hamburgers and they all come with amazing french fries and a kid's drink. All for $6.25!!!! Food was good but not so good service. My friends and i are in town for a visit, saw the reviews on this restraunt and were very excited to try it. The thing that left us feeling we should have gone elsewhere were the 2 waitresses that waited on us, very nice but really not good at this job, really didnt know what they served, how to do simple tasks and so on. I have been going here for a few years. To be honest, mostly in the summer due to it being way out there. I have seen them remodel recently. However, this last visit has me feeling like it needs to be my last visit. I question if they are under new ownership because of the recent changes. My last visit, I had the French dip. I'm not certain how they managed to give the au jus a burnt taste. It was really gross and inedible. Now I personally don't like my French dip so dry. They used to have this delicious cornbread muffins served with your meal. So delicious I always ordered more, happily paying extra to enjoy them. This time was two thin slices of a very small loaf of cornbread. Definitely was not the same taste or quality. The young lady serving us seems to need more training and further education on customer service. We ordered items that never made it to our table or on the check. Getting a refill of water was impossible and she was a bit curt for my liking. There are plenty of places to eat without the trek. I bid this place well but I don't plan on returning to be so disappointed again. read more

The food was pretty good but beware of garlic everywhere! I have a severe garlic allergy. The vegetables were sauteed in garlic. Even the potato had garlic butter. It's quite a drive from Cedar City. We missed it at first because the front of the building is a coffee shop, which was closed. Our gps said we were there but we couldn't see where to go. Finally we drove around the side and found the entrance. I was comped a peach cobbler with ice cream (due to the garlic issue) and it was tasty. I had a salad, my husband had grilled chicken. I got the cowboy chicken salad and it was delicious! Very huge too, which isn't quite captured in this photo but the plate was bigger than my head by a large margin. I will note that they forgot the corn on the salad, which was unfortunate as I was looking forward to trying their seasoned corn. It took over an hour to get the meal so I didn't want to wait for them to make more and the waitress asked how everything was only after I'd finished. They seemed pretty slammed though on a busy Sunday evening. The location is off the beaten path with lots of beautiful pastures and horses. All in all, I'd go again. We had such high hopes for this place on our trip to Cedar City and it sadly majorly disappointed in many ways. We had a reservation for 6:15 to ensure that we were able to make our show in time. We did not as our meals were not delivered to our table until after 7pm. Being out of the main area, I expected everything to be exceptional and some of it was. I loved the complimentary corn muffins and cinnamon butter, which tided us over until our meal arrived. Our waitress was very friendly and apologetic about the wait checking in on us at least a few times during our meal. I guess my real question is what is the point of having a reservation if our food wasn't going to be served until an hour later. They were having a special event, which may have been some of the cause for delay but the reason I wouldn't go back is due to inconsistency of the food. The mushroom burger and salmon were great. The fries were overfried and tasted like oil, the steak on the salad was rubbery, the country fried steak was under seasoned. My jalapeño popper grilled cheese was just average but not worth the drive. It was also quite confusing to find the entrance as signage was inconsistently clear. read more
