Our waitress was super friendly and encouraging when we tried speaking French, so we really appreciated that! The food was solid and we were able to share the plates family style so we could try a variety of things. The sausage and the white asparagus were the standouts to me. For dessert, I really liked the profiterole. Dogs were allowed inside. The restroom is located downstairs. It's a casual vibe. read more

I am not really a huge French food fan. I do know I like this restaurant. There wasn't any extravagant flavors or foods. I had the salad and pork chops. The beef stew was excellent also. The service was quick. We came in late in the night and we were the last to leave the restaurant. They never rushed us and we felt bad holding them up. Recommended by our hotel as an authentic and inexpensive French meal and I can say it tastes authentic but not necessarily inexpensive. Our total meal was about 100 euro for 2 cocktails, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. You do definitely get your moneys worth. The food is delicious and just enough so you feel full but not weighed down. We had the pork chop, chicken and burger special along with the house wine, aperol spritz, chocolate cake and baba rum. Beware that if you order the baba rum dessert, they will pour straight rum over the bread and then leave you the bottle to add more if you wish. I loved it! Our server was so sweet but spoke limited English, luckily there were English translations on the menu. The interior is cozy and welcoming and you can tell that French people actually come here as well as maybe tourists if they are aware of it. It is next door to the casino so if you happen to be there this is a good stop for dinner. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. read more

A wonderful find for a late night dinner, well recommendation. When I travel I don't want to eat anything remotely American. I want to feel the culture inside and out the good and the bad. Though it's nice to find the good most of the time. When you walk in and it's bustling and the host pulls out an old red book and asks...do you have a reservation? Now keep in mind it's 11:00PM. All I can do is say no and ramble off with some really bad French and hope she takes pity on me...tonight I was in luck. This is a beautiful little neighborhood bistro with a gorgeous staff of four ladies. You sit down and with a smile a fresh sliced baguette, house sausage and champagne are delivered at once...so it begins. Let's start with a salad of greens, lardons and poached egg then Foie Gras de canard et chutney then tuna filet and salmon filet both with salad and vegetables then Saint-Marcellin cheese by Thierry Avisse cheesemonger and Soufflé glade au Grand Marnier. All I can say is wow! Now I would have paired the sides a bit differently on the entrees but that's just silly to mention this is a bistro anything goes. My 6 year old and I had an exhausting day of walking and got back to our hotel in the early evening and just wanted a quick dinner and get to bed for an early morning champagne tour. I was out of ideas so asked our concierge at the Hotel R de Paris (INCREDIBLE PLACE) and when I asked about the 2 restaurants directly across the street he said he did not hear the best reviews from other guests. He suggested we walk 5 minutes down Rue Clichy where our hotel was and try this restaurant. We arrived around 8 and the gentleman that greeted us was very nice and I greeted him in French and asked if he spoke English, which he did. I asked if it was alright to get a table even though we didn't have a reservation. He said he could give us a table but he had a reservation already set for 9 pm. I said we would be quick. We looked over the menu and there were great choices of food and wine. Since neither my 6 year old son or I are big eaters so we split a fish dish. Damn I wish I could remember the name of it because it was HEAVEN! The vegetables were delicious, the salad was delicious, the wine the gentleman suggested to go with the fish was delicious and we devoured the entire plate! This place was so great that we went back a second time during our vacation and was greeted by the same gentleman. Again we didn't have a reservation but he was kind enough to give us another table. We were seated next to an American woman on a business trip that said this was also her 2nd time coming to the same restaurant. She ordered the beef bourguignon and even though I no longer eat meat I wanted to inhale her dish because it smelled incredible. She said she came back the 2nd time just to have it again. It is a restaurant which is highly recommended by Parisiens and has a well-recognized cook. Therefore, you have to make reservation. If you are hungry, buy a menu (starter + main dish + desert) which is cheaper than ordering single plates. I had fois gras, entrecote and chocolat fondant. Overall, everything was tasty. The only thing I don't like much in France that the entrecote comes always with a lot of fat. The chocolat fondant is basicly a cake, indeed (not what you are used to get!). It is a very friendly place indeed and good for children, as well. Though not sure, if they had a child seat. read more

Good choice of Bourgogne regional food at a reasonable price. Service excellent, attentive but not in your face. Had a work dinner here with 6 people. Very cozy restaurant on a small street and it was not loud at all, which is nice. Nice variety of menu items. I had a sea bass with a lemon and thyme sauce over mashed potatoes. It was very good and I thought the prices were reasonable too. My colleagues had steak and said it was good as well. Maybe we were simply unlucky. This establishment epitomised quintessential French snobbery and bad service. After being seated we were ignored for the best part of 20 minutes. Not sure exactly why .... my French isn't great perhaps that's the reason. When the waitress finally showed up it seemed as though we were an imposition. But we were ready to overlook even that because of the supposed good food. The table next to us had a pate plate served with a jar of cornichon. Based on that my wife decided to have pate and salad. I had the frogs legs (actually pretty good). No jar of conichon showed up and our waitress again ignored us until our main course dishes were served. Which brings me on to the next bug. The Beef Bourginion. Again the table next door had prepared us for what we thought would be next to come. There's served in a Staub dish on the side with a plate of mached potatoes. Meat tender and with lashings of gravy. When our beef bourguinion showed up ... already plated ... lack of gravy and lumps of gristle. I've eaten beef bourguinion in other parts of France and prepare it regularly at home. Frankly this was the worst one I have ever had. My wife had asked for some water with our meal as well as wine and beer. The water didn't show up until the third time of asking and even then the response was surly at best (again perhaps it was my bad French). We never did get any refills on the beer or wine. We finally decided to call it a night and got the check. Miraculously that showed up 10 or so minutes later. Along with a business card ... as if I was going to recommend this place to anyone. Check paid and waited for change (yep no tips) .... followed by a second business card presentation. Of course if we didn't take the first business card it's a pretty good indication we aren't going to take the second one either. In closing we both agreed that the meal and champagne we had while waiting at Charles de Gaulle airport was far superior. Bourgogne Sud we'll pass next time we're in Paris. read more

Came here our first night in Paris very late, and they sat us and served us the most wonderful food! My favorite part would have to be the escargot (see picture!) It wasn't too salty, which I usually take offense with on this dish. The service was amazing, and the setting was exactly what you'd imagine a typical old fashioned french eatery to look like. Authentic, quality food, casual but nice environment at a reasonable price. For example the signature dish is cooked in Julienas, not cheap wine as other similar restaurants. Skip breakfast (OK, just one croissant...) as the portions are large and the food rich. It gets very busy weekdays for lunch, mostly local office workers, so best to reserve. read more
