Found this local gem when looking for a place where 8 of us could eat outside! We are still getting used to being able to go to a restaurant for anything other than take-out! Our service was excellent! And the food, the food was outstanding. We tried a variety of appetizers for the table including the Sweet Vidalia Onion Dip, actually had two orders for the table and every bit of it was devoured. We also tried the Pork Belly Burnt Ends which were delicious too. We wanted to try the French Fried Pickles but they had just sold their last order for the day. We had the Caprese salad and shared it as an appetizer as well. The orders that were the biggest hits were the French Dip (which was my order and I would definitely order it again!), the Baby Back Ribs and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The food is delicious , the menu holds true to its southern inspiration. Service is always great - very busy but they manage to do a great job with the amount of traffic they get. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable , slightly upscale but not too much . It would do great if there were more space. read more

We went with some friends for a late lunch on 4/15. The food was quality although our waitress was quite slow. I will never go back to this place on principle after we received our bills and found we were billed $.50 for tap water on each of 3 people who did not order other drinks. Between our 2 families, we spent around $200 and most of us had one or two adult drinks. However, my teenage son only drinks water as did 2 other people at that time. Obviously we can afford the $.50 but I find that so incredibly insulting that a restaurant would want to tack on $1.50 for tap water when people are in there paying (as example) $20 for a French dip sandwich and running $200 bills. read more

Unexpected find - wonderful drinks and food. Hubby had a flight of bourbon, friends had smoky old fashioneds - outstanding! We ordered the bacon Mac and cheese for an appetizer - tasty but I have as better. Shrimp and cheese grits were really good as were the ribs, fried chicken with honey the blacked grouper - a little taste of New Orleans! All good portions and the corn bread was moist and warm. My wife and I joined another couple here last evening for dinner. We arrived a bit early to take advantage of the $5.00 Vidalia dip with sweet potato chips. The dip was amazingly good but we were both very disappointed in the quality of the chips. They tasted stale and were not crisp. Another serving of chips was brought out but they were not much better. Had it not been for the chips, I surely would have upgraded the rating. We shared a filet which was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. These items were very tasty . We also tried the fried green tomatoes, along with the burnt beef ends. Ordered carry-out for a special dinner. Ambience doesn't apply, however if carry-out is a large enough percentage of business, some thought and planning should go toward making it easier access for the client as well as staff. My husband had to lift the bag above his head to get through the tight aisles to the exit. The food was excellent! Still warm when we arrived at home, short ribs were tender, juicy and flavorful. Cajun Rattatouille was delicious, mushroom pizza was a bit cold but taste was amazing. Finally, the Bourbon St. burger was cooked perfectly, was not greasy and toppings were fresh and crisp. We had ordered a chocolate decadence (fantastic) and a piece of hummingbird cake ( dry and tasteless...seemed like it had been around for a few days uncovered). My wife and I had dinner with another couple on a busy Saturday night. Some people complain about the noise and the crowd, but I think it's a good sign when a restaurant is packed. We had reservations at 7 PM and waited about 15-20 minutes before getting seated. Not a problem for us as we prefer to have a drink at the bar before being seated anyway. And for the review(s) that said they couldn't hear each other talk, that was not the issue for us. We could hear each other just fine. Yes, as mentioned in previous reviews, it took a little bit longer to get noticed and the drinks didn't come out lightning fast, but if I wanted quick service and cheap drinks, I'd go to the Shamrock or just stay home. We paid about $7 for a Buffalo Trace on the rocks, which to me is a fair price for a decent bourbon in a nice restaurant. Once seated, our server greeted us quickly and was super attentive the entire night. He was helpful to our table full of first-timers to guide us toward appetizer and entree choices. The timing of everything was exactly as expected. Despite the packed house, not one of us felt like things were dragging. I was disappointed that they were out of brisket - it was my top choice and I suppose it's another good sign that they sold out. My wife's order came out incorrectly but our server owned up to his mistake (fat fingered the computer) and the correct order was brought out as quickly as it could be, and she got a free dessert for the inconvenience. The dessert she chose was the pecan pie, and if you are a fan of pecan pie, get this one. So good. The kind of good when you make a bedroom sound after taking a bite. The mushroom pizza was probably the highlight of the table. It's probably the most reasonably priced item on the menu, too. Delicious. My pulled pork sandwich was very good -- but I still would have preferred the brisket. The onion dip appetizer was also great (just a little pricey.) I'm going with 4 stars not because of 86'd brisket or the order mistake -- those things happen and at least they handled it fairly and promptly. My only issue is that some of the menu items seem to be priced a bit out of line. I don't mind paying $7 for the bourbon, but $10 for the onion dip and $6 for a cup of corn chowder was a little high for the portion sizes. As I said before, the mushroom pizza was the best value (I think it was $12.) It was more than enough for one person and it was excellent. I'd say the onion dip should be priced closer to $5-$6, and the corn chowder should be $3-$4 considering the portions. Plus, I'd be apt to actually spend more and order two appetizers if the prices were more in line. If you're on the fence, give this place a shot. Just plan ahead if it's a weekend night so you're not shocked when there is a wait for a table at 7:00 PM. Enjoy a bourbon while you wait and be happy that people in our local community are out and about spending money. It's a good thing. read more

I have been four times now. The restaurant itself is very cool, a great environmental. My husband and I came once for drinks and apple, we sat at the bar. Everything was good. We came once for pizza with our son, that was good too. We had a reservation for Mother's Day. Sat at our table for over 10 minutes and never acknowledged by anyone. We got up and left, I don't think anyone noticed. I went in today with my parents and my son. We ordered the chicken wings for an appetizer. After asking about the order 30 minutes later, we were told he though it was part of our lunch order. Which was two salads and an order of grilled salmon. About 5-7 minutes later our whole order came out. My parents like their salads. My salmon was dry on the outside and almost raw in the middle. He offer to keep cooking it, but I declined. Waiting nearly 40 minutes the first time, I didn't want to risk waiting another 40 minutes for something else. I don't think we will be back, at least not for a long time. The food is good however the way they rush you out at the end of the meal is very uncomfortable and rude. We've been twice in the past three months and both times we were rushed out. Bringing boxes while we're still eating, trying to take away glasses that still have an alcoholic beverages in them, clearing the table as we stand to leave, blocking us while clearing, asking us if there is anything else they can bring us repeatedly while we're still eating and drinking. We have never experienced anything like this at any restaurant! Very Disappointed and so uncomfortable that We Will Not Return! Absolutely the WORST customer service experience ever! I get they want to turn over table but OMG this was absolutely ridiculous! I do want mention the noise level is extremely high and it's very difficult to have a conversation with anyone, even across the table! Avgerage food with less than average service. The not so good: Service. Our drink order was very slow. Drinks arrived almost at the same time as soup and salad. Did not bring water until after the meal. The highlights: Jambalaya was very good and salad was very good with their house made dressing. The atmosphere is pretty nice and it has some character for a new place. Detailed review below. Entrees:. The fried chicken was good enough, but like another review, I expected more than a bonelss chicken breast. Sweet potatoes were decent and biscuit did not compare to the cornbread. The Low Country Boil was alright. Mostly made of muscles, a couple shrimp and a half of a king crab leg. This is pretty typical for the cost. The shrimp was a little over cooked. Muscles were tender and delicious and the crab was split in half, which I personally do not prefer. The side of corn bread was pretty tasty. The service was less than average. Slow to get a glass of wine and a cocktail. I had to ask for another glass of wine, which arrived after my meal was finished. We also asked for a glass of water when our soup and salad arrived. Near the end of the meal I had to ask where our water was (when my wine finally arrived) and finnaly received it when the plates were paicked up. We will try again, I'm sure. Just a random pick of a restaurant tofst and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly somewhat attentive and the atmosphere laid back with soft music in the background. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It came with saccatoush greens and cornbread. My husband ordered the hot chicken sandwich that came with coleslaw and pickles. The side was fries or sweet potato chips. We thought it was going to be a long wait, due to the large parties that were there before us. I was pleasantly surprised with a short wait, large portions and very hot food! I wanted dessert but was too full. Maybe next time. We needed our food boxed and the bill. The bill came to $41 and some change. Not bad for the quality of food we recieved. The saccatoush needed a little salt and pepper everything else was very well seasoned and tasty. My only complaints that I have is the waiters/waitresses boxed everyone's food but ours. They returned to the table with their boxes in bags and we had to do it ourselves and ask for a bag before we left. I found that VERY odd. I had it on good authority from my sister that Bourbon's had some really great fried green tomatoes and one of her favorite shrimp and grits dishes. We stopped in after some shopping to grab a snack and a drink and check this place out finally. In all fairness I should mention that they were switching over from Mother's Day brunch to lunch and they had warned us that food would take extra time to come out. No matter, we pushed on. I ordered us the above mentioned plates with a request for their Alabama White sauce on the side, along with an Old Fashioned for me. I will say this for Brighton, the restaurants here make well made cocktails. My Old Fashioned was solid down to the Luxardo cherry. I later decided to try their Creole Cocktail which was also really nice and served in a coupe glass, which I appreciated. The tomatoes ($12) and the shrimp and grits came out together and it took awhile longer than they warned so the manager was kind enough to offer us dessert to make up for the delay. That said, it wasn't necessary and we politely declined. As for the food, the overall presentation for both dishes was OK. The shrimp and grits ($23) looked tasty but the grits were a drier grit that were clumpy and resembled scrambled eggs. The fresh corn on the side was a nice addition. For the tomatoes, there were 5-6 on the plate each dolloped with red pepper jam. On taste and execution the tomatoes were paper thin which took away from their flavor. The cornmeal batter held a lot of the cooking oil making them a little oily while the red pepper jam overpowered the delicate flavors of the tomato. IMO I'd have tripled the thickness of the tomato put the jam on the side and showcased their Alabama White sauce in it's place, also on the side. The white sauce was great. As for the grits, they used a heartier larger grain of grit lending a lot to the texture. The flavor was right but they were too dry. The shrimp was a little overcooked and the sauce was too sweet for my tastes, but to each their own. Service was great here. We were sat by the manager and also addressed about the wait by him, and our server was pleasant as was the expediter. I'd like to come back and check this place out again since the rest of the menu looked interesting. read more

when you have a reservation at a place for 7pm, your expectations are to have a decent table around that time for dinnwe. at bourbons, that is not the case. they could not care less about you. we were sat 45 minutes after our reservation at a table that was literallly in the waiting area and had everyone at every other table had to basically brush our table to get to theirs. on top of that, the moment we got our bill we were basically told to leave and that we were taking too long. one of the most insane experiences i have ever been through. there isn't a chance i would ever go back here. Another new hot spot in Brighton that's a hit. The owners opened their second establishment just down Main Street from the long running successful Brighton Bar and Grill. Hopefully, the history of three failed restaurants that previously occupied this location will not proceed Bourbons. The drink selection off the chart with a hefty Bourbon selection, I had both the Brown Sugar and Fig Old Fashioned and the Smoked Bourbon, both done well the later...needs more smoke. My wife had the Cajun Lemonade which was refreshing. We tasted the Onion Cheese Dip with Sweet Potato Chips, WOW! Fantastic. We ordered the Fried Chicken, tender, sweet, melt in your mouth with mashed sweet potatoes were killer and the Shrimp and Grits were perfectly prepared. Though the first Saturday night they've been opened, bar and kitchen were slow, BUT manager Jeniffer responded solidly and came to our waitresses rescue. Our first time to Bourbons was disappointing. It was about half full at the time of our visit. It took 15 minutes to get a drink as the bartender was more interested in entertaining friends than waiting on customers. After our drink we moved to a table. The waitstaff was very friendly . I ordered the Blackened grouper which was dry and not very tasty. The Creole sauce was good but could not save the fish. My date has the country Boil. It was acceptable but had little seafood in it for a $ 29 meal. We plan on trying this place again,but will be staying away from the high end of the menu. read more

Stephanie was our waitress - we had a party of 10 and she was funny, attentive and engaged. Yummy bourdon drinks - we tried several different cocktails and all very good.
