The reviews speak volumes. This restaurant is absolutely not deserving of anything above 2 stars. I drove an hour out to eat here and was denied a drink despite being closer to 30 in age than I am 20. She was thrown off by the fact that my friend and I did not have the same ID, which is incredibly common for a state to have multiple versions of a valid ID so clearly they are all untrained. It is common knowledge and pretty embarrassing that restaurant servers aren't aware of this. Along with her power trip came in an incredibly snarky attitude for someone who isn't very good at their job. Clearly they all lack proper training, and what an inconvenience to my night to not be able to eat until an hour later after finding somewhere else, and be late to my other commitments because of this. I mean...just look at the size of those nachos and you already know I'm giving 5 stars. I come to The Pound fairly often and am surprised I haven't left a review before. We went in tonight and were pleasantly surprised to find a table on the rooftop patio. Within minutes it started sprinkling. Our waitress immediately offered to let us move to a table with an umbrella. Nachos come out. It starts pouring. Our waitress immediately asks if we want to move and/or cash out. So appreciate how friendly, attentive, and flexible she was. I wish I'd gotten her name. We ended up cashing out and heading inside. Nachos weren't just big but excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to find they will do NA frozen drinks. I already knew they have a great NA beer (segars something or other) and of course lots of specials on "regular" drinks. My wife had a Slim Jim I had the Dublin as we had in the past they were terrible. Slim Jim very short on the ham and the Dublin was over toasted and no flavor. In the past they were always very good. The waitress was not good not rude just not very attentive. We will try them one more time to see if this was a fluke.I'm only saying this for the managers sake. i've been in twice now in the last month or so, and service was horrible both times. First time we sat on the rooftop, waited quite some time to get service, then waited for drinks. The server did not know anything about the menu, did not bring us silverware/ or condiments even when we asked multiple times. Ended up having to get up to ask the bartender for silverware, grabbed our own ketchup, as well as to go boxes. We also had to fix our tab 2 times due to things we didn't receive being on there. Second time we again tried sitting on the rooftop. We called ahead to make sure they were open and still serving food & drinks, which we were told we were more than welcome to come in! Once we arrived the server rudely told us "last call for drinks" over an hour before close- and would not let us put in food. Her attitude was not good whatsoever. We would've gladly moved downstairs if asked politely, but instead we headed over to label Kitchen & bar across the street - received significantly better service! It's unfortunate that the service is so beyond horrendous here, because the food the first time was really good!!! As well as the ambiance, they have a phenomenal view of downtown on the rooftop! Worst dining experience in my lifetime. After me a long round of golf a couple of buddies and me came in for some burgers and drinks. The hostess was extremely rude. She immediately singled out one of our friends because of his mixed racial background and made a comment suggesting he "couldn't eat for free." We were stunned. I was ready to walk out on the spot, but my friend quietly told me this wasn't even the first time he'd experienced comments like that from this establishment. The fact that he seemed almost used to it was heartbreaking. It was a beautiful day out, so we were excited at the opportunity to enjoy rooftop seating. Unfortunately, the table we were brought to hadn't been cleaned from the last customers and the employee rolled her eyes when we asked politely if they could clean it. We placed our orders quickly and it took over 15 mins to get drinks and over an hour for the burgers. The burgers were raw and the fries were dry and cold. When we politely informed our waitress, that the food wasn't acceptable, she immediately became argumentative and insisted there was nothing wrong because we'd each taken a bite. Finally, we had enough and asked to speak to the owner. The owner was extremely apologetic and brought us new food. However, when we recieved the bill, not only were we charged for the replacement meals, but we were also charged for the original raw burgers we couldn't eat. The owner's explanation? They had already prepared the food, and it wasn't their responsibility whether customers actually ate it. When we pointed out how absurd that logic was, the owner essentially shrugged and told us there wasn't much we could do because his business was well-established and one bad review wouldn't matter. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are plenty of places nearby that actually seem interested in serving edible food and treating customers with basic respect. read more

My favorite place to watch a game! Tons of TVs with great game sound and the staff and regulars are super friendly. They use beef tallow in their fryers, and the hand battered chicken tenders are so good. Also really family friendly! They have a good kids menu and my kids love the duck claw machine. read more

First off, I can't understand why I'd see only reviews from 2024 and earlier when I sort by "Most Recent". Sorry but that does makesme wonder. Our experience at the Pound has been (apparently) better than most, but so you know, our experience is limited to the half-price pitchers and pizza on Wednesdays and BOGO burgers on Thursdays - both whenever the weather allows us to have them on the rooftop. There's also generally live music up there as well so that ambiance makes up for a lot of potential downsides. The one downside where the Pound does lose a star is because they won't serve you Happy Hour stuff on the rooftop (and 120 West right across the street does, so when we're limited to Happy Hour on Fri - Tuesdays we go there instead. That said, given that we get what we consider GREAT value at the Pound at any time of the day on Wed and Thursday, it's a one star problem at most.) Servers are youngish but have always been polite and helpful, tables, glasses, and silverware are generally clean, food prep who knows, but it looks perfectly fine by the time it gets to you, so what's not to like. Keep in mind, the Pound is a bar and it's not pretending to be anything else - and I've seen and experienced far less value at far more pretentious places on the same street, so we'll continue to show up as long as the value does - which seems pretty likely as the Pound has a very long history of providing that kind of value during some part of the week for a very long time already. Hopefully this helps level-set expectations. Now that you know what to expect and when to go, you should be able to have a very good time at the Pound in downtown Brighton - at least on Wednesdays and Thursdays when the weather permits. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The service is absolutely horrid, and like others have said, we sat down and were ignored for 20 to 30 minutes while others around us were handled. The food we couldn't even get because no one wanted to service any tables, and they ran out of Guinness..seriously it's one of your staples. We assumed this place would be good because there were a lot of people on the roof and in the bar but the main restaurant had no one, that should have been a sign. Even with two hostess and a waiter that was chitchatting with them, we waited over 15 minutes before our drink order was taken. Our waitress spilled our water, not an issue at all, she was fine and cleaned it up and was apologetic about it. But that gives the overall vibe of how things were to go. A boy brought out nachos to our table, we didn't order nachos, and he spilt the salsa all over the table. Is the table cursed? He didn't bother to clean it up. We had to ask the waitress to clean it up. Food was reheated frozen bar food, Mac and cheese was cold, atmosphere was bad and the staff around us other than our waitress was terrible. I've been here a few times and I stopped ordering the food. It's very basic and when I ordered a Reuben, the corned beef was the processed stuff you'd get at a grocery store deli. I did not expect that. But the rooftop!! Nothing makes me happier than sitting on a rooftop, watching people walk by down below, drinking some drinks under the sun and listening to live music. The Pound is your typical Bar and grill with a fairly nice set up for viewing sporting events with numerous TV's scattered through the facility offering a good view of the game from almost any point on the floor. Additionally they have a large roof top dining/drinking area and another outside dining/drinking area adjacent to the lower level restaurant. The menu is your typical sports bar menu consisting of assorted burgers, sandwiches, wraps, fries, pizza ....etc. Relative to the liquor they have a decent selection of beers and a nice cocktail menu to complement the alcohol selection. For our meal we had the chicken tenders and Rosemary fries. The Tenders were a bit overcooked with OK taste where the rosemary fries were quite tasty and were the highlight of the meal. The cocktails we had were reasonably priced where they ranged in taste from good to so so depending on the cocktail ordered. Lastly the service was friendly and prompt but could use some improvement on the follow up once the food had been delivered. Overall the food was OK where it didn't really stand out as anything special where the strengths of this establishment are its outside/rooftop dining options and their setup for watching sports. If watching the big game or having a relaxed outdoor dining experience are your top priorities than I would say this restaurant would be an excellent choice for you. read more

Fine place to meet a group for a drink and snack. They are a very busy venue in downtown Brighton. Great outdoor space with live music and tables in the street. The smokers on the back deck influence the atmosphere in the main bar. It's a casual, biker-friendly place. Lots of hightop tables. The menu looked good but we were only there for drinks. We could hear the music just fine from our bar seats and were happily in the cool shade inside. Staff at the bar was nice enough. The host people are clueless and speak far too quietly to be greeting people at the door next to a live band. All in all a fine place for a drink. read more

Basic bar food with a really nice rooftop area and lots of TVs to watch the game. They have a reasonably decent selection of tap beers to complement the nice sports pub ambiance (I don't recommend the mediocre cocktails). That alone is enough to make your visit enjoyable. It's a nice place to socialize. Food is subpar (although my rosemary fries were decent), but it is ok after a couple of beers. Service is slow, but pleasant. I will likely return. read more

The food is still good here Me and my friends were walking by after we left Jamison's, we had our take-out food in our containers, time was approximately 11:30 PM, the bouncer gave us a hard time entering "the pound" with our leftovers from Jamison's in our hands. He made us keep them outside, and then told us he was going to throw them away because we left them by the door. The guy was unprofessional, inappropriate and BAD for business. He was so not accommodating. Big deal if we bring our leftovers and from another restaurant, we were coming into YOUR bar to spend alot of money on drinks.!!!! Any time we think about going to downtown Brighton or have someone asking for recommendations, we suggest The Pound. They have ample indoor seating as well as the rooftop. In September, it was open. But the chilly late October night, it was closed. I hope they open it up and put out those tall patio heaters for the cooler months. The only reason I docked a star is the service was super slow. I understand covid has put a huge damper on things but our waitress kept forgetting things like plates, napkins, drinks.....literally everything we needed and the purpose of coming there. Thankfully us 3 nurses had zero care going savage on a full plate of nachos but we made an absolute mess and had no way of cleaning it up. Went to the pound for drinks for my younger sister's 21st. Bouncers were the most unfriendly people and that's an understatement. We were a large group all traveling to Brighton from out of state for Christmas-- meaning many out of state ID's from a large group of upper 20s and they could not wrap their heads around this. Michigan cherry salad is just sweet goop on lettuce. Chicken flavorless processed strips. Chewy and rubbery. Cobb salad is not a Cobb salad. Has a quartered egg, processed rubbery chicken, some flavorless dressing, and just not good. Calzone is mostly bread. Pretty bad. The spicy chicken sandwich not good. Went to the pound for the first time this past Saturday for some pizza. Great pizza, the bartender Garrett is hilarious. This dude made my wife a pink shot and it was delicious. Definitely will come back. Also if you're into like a sports bar, that's what this place is. Buckle up for the horn. Yes, a horn. The evening we were there, they had a band playing outside. They were quite good and it really added to the experience. Went to the Pound to try the Fri night "All you can eat Fish & Chips" as advertised on the website. Unfortunately, they do not offer "All you can eat" due to limitations on food deliveries thanks to COVID-19, but I did get the 3-piece of Fish and a side of sweet potato fries instead. I want to start by saying I am typically very nice when it comes to reviews on restaurants, because I work as a server/bartender myself, so I get it. However, I am very disappointed at, The Pound. I got the California chicken flat, which is pretty much instead of bread for the sandwich, it's pizza dough. Sounds amazing, right? Wrong. This was dry, hard, and flavorless. My friend ordered the queso dip as his meal and his cake first and mine didn't come for another 20 minutes. When I first arrived I went to the rooftop where the seating was very nice, but you seat yourself and wait for the server. I made eye contact with several servers, but no one greeted me for 15 minutes. Finally when one came she simple asked us if we were ready..... no, we're not ready! We don't have any menus and no one has even acknowledged us. Two tables sat down around our table and they all got greeted with menus and drinks, right away so I don't know why we didn't get the same service. So all in all, the service sucked. The flat bread I got sucked and the queso appetizer tasted like it came from a jar. I don't recommend this place at all. Brighton is a nice place, spend your time and money elsewhere. read more

The two stars are only for our waitress Addi who deserves five stars. Great upper deck, went at 4:30 on a Monday. Out of 12 inch pizzas which also meant all of their oven folds which also use the 12 inch pizza doughs were out. Also out of french fries and ranch, again this is 4:30 plenty of time to make amends. Very slow when we arrived but a margarita and strawberry margarita took 15 minutes. Bartender seemed like he had better things to do. Ended up ordering a beer off their "deck menu" had to be cans but even though it was on their deck menu the bartender said it was only available in bottles downstairs. I showed Addi the deck menu and she went back to the bartender and amazingly they had my canned beer. When the average at best food came out it was from a food runner who auctioned it off and nothing came out even close to the same time. When we went downstairs to the restroom their open kitchen showed two cooks moving at snail speed with no hair restraints. If Addi wasn't doing everything in her power to ensure we had a nice experience and the fact the deck was really nice (perfect weather helped) this review would be much worse. read more

We've been hanging out here and cannot say enough positives about the staff, ownership and food. The bar staff is engaging and energetic. They pay attention to us and out requests. I've personally seen the owners bussing tables and interacting with customers. I'm really impressed with the bourbon selection. Not what I would expect here. It's better than a lot of other pubs in town. Food wise, tHe pizza and burgers are awesome. Always a hit. We know we can come here, get a friendly smile, a good drink and good food. Always come here with friends or by myself for a drink and some good food. It's a loud bar, but the rooftop is cool! Also, I've always enjoyed the food. They have healthier options, and options for those who are gluten free. Trivia on Wednesday nights and love music on the weekends! Their Bloody Mary bar on the weekend is good, but I wish they also had a brunch menu to accompany it. They only have their regular lunch/dinner menu.
