Loads of character in this dining room.
Beth H.

We wanted a try a place we hadn't been before and SBS was just what we were looking for. I made a reservation for Saturday at 5p because their instagram was fire and there was a highlight for happy hour. I clicked on those pics and SBS boasted a Friday and Saturday happy hour 4-6p! Glad I called. Apparently those are old posts and they don't have a happy hour at all anymore. Bummer and I almost looked elsewhere. This is just down the street from the social district. The parking is much easier but they were still busy. The building is incredible. This is a very cool spot. Great for a date night and to meet friends. Lots of glass, metal and light. The dining room itself is very dark and intimate. I don't believe you will find quiet anywhere in this place. It's lively. It's also pricy. It's great that they are a scratch kitchen and the menu is fantastic. The plates going to other tables looked and smelled incredible and definitely influenced my choices. The Malbec by the glass is delicious but not the A-typical Malbec. Deep, rich and off dry. Not sweet but not mouth-tacking dry either. If I knew it was so good I may have simply ordered the bottle but now knowing that's it's about $10 for the bottle and they have it listed for $42, glad I didn't. We started with charcuterie. Iberrico ham, prosciutto, and chorizo. Goat milk Gouda, triple cream Brie and a red cheddar. Toast slices, jam, almonds and mustard. Everything was good but it was incongruent. None of the meats go with the cheeses but they were delicious on their own. Hubs had the pasta and I had fried rice. The pasta was a lovely al dente. Good portion and tasty. The rice was beautiful and piping hot! All elements were perfectly cooked. The salmon, the beans, the shrimp; all were great. The vegetable wonton was a big egg roll cut in half but it was not good. The wet soggy cabbage made the wrapper soggy too. The sweet sauce with the egg roll was odd and spicy. Not bad but not great either. The waitress was fine. Nice and just the right amount of attentive. The place was getting busy. We skipped dessert and paid the $100 bill and headed to Blank Slate for a scoop.

Single Barrel never disappoints! We came here for Sweetest Day Dinner and it was amazing! We tried the Surf and Turf for two! It was absolutely delicious!

Food & Service were spectacular. Delia was a fantastic server. I highly recommend this restaurant. Best steak I've had out in a very long time. Best wedge salad, Best roasted carrots, lyonnaise potato & horseradish crema. The calamari & lobster with artichoke dip was outstanding. The desserts & drinks were unique, creative & so delicious we all had to share. Wow. I'm definitely going back.

Absolutely loved this place! Stopped for a cap after dinner.. and will definitely be back. Great service, delicious drinks, and divine appetizers and dessert. Absolutely will be back for some of their steaks that I couldn't take my eyes off of.

Filet mignon with zip sauce and side veggie

This is my new favorite restaurant in the Brighton area! It is very trendy and has a lot of interesting things on the menu. The food was all really good! I ordered the filet mignon with a side of veggies and zip sauce and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. I love the crisp texture of the charred meat. They do use a decent amount of pepper, which I would ask them to leave off next time. The steak comes with your choice of side and I would recommend the whipped potatoes (what my fiancée ordered). We also tried the bread & butter, Guadalupe salad and whitefish croquettes- all delicious. I did not love the duck fat potatoes- just found them to be a little bland. The service was good & we're happy to share recommendations with us. They get pretty busy on the weekends so I would recommend making a reservation. There is also bar seating if you have a small group. The food is on the expensive side but worth it!

The squad was on a shred sesh, since it's one of those "it's been a while moment." We decided to go out for some drinks and grub of course. So we let my friend decide where to go and we ended up here. Nicely decorated, it has two bars and plenty of seating everywhere. Lighting and ambiance was on point. The booth we were on was adorned in ostrich leather, which was something I was partial to. Thumbs up to the decorator. I love the appeal. Now to the food... Oysters - of course we ordered a dozen. Half west coast and half east coast. Delightful of course. Steak Tartare - 5 stars on the plating. Also 5 stars on the flavors. Love the plantain chips. Perfect accompaniment to the raw beef. Don't like raw beef? I don't care what you think. Let's keep it moving shall we. Bone Marrow - As you've seen from my reels, I'm partial to this dish as well. These guys are superb. Spread a proper amount on the toast. Top it with the caramelized onions and prepare to melt your life away. Oh, you don't like that too?? Don't care, more for me. Let's keep it moving. Delmonico Steak - I make amazing steaks, and my friends usually compare mines to other restaurants. Yes, this cut of cooked beef passes with honors. Medium Rare was spot on and the roasted root veggies were phenomenal. Service was dialed in. Our server did not skip a beat. We were taken cared of every step of the way. I would definitely come back here and smash again. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!!!

Single Barrel Social is decorated in the fancy gastropub style that a lot of trendy Michigan eateries seem to follow. As soon as you enter, your nose is smacked with the delicious aroma of wood & meat. Reservations are definitely recommended, as this place is really popular. They offer an extensive drink menu. Their food is elevated versions of familiar dishes. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The prices are kinda high, but you're paying for quality.

Having said that, if it had come with pickles it definitely would have amped up the flavor profile of this burger and made for a better sandwich in my opinion. Possibly something to keep in min d and ask for if you go the Burger route. Aside form the burger, I ordered an Old Fashioned with Makers Mark Bourbon as the base for my cocktail. The drink was well made and quite tasty and a deal at $11 in my opinion. Aside from the burger there were an assortment of food options that I would classify as Elevated Bar food bordering on a Bistro style Menu that looked very interesting. Nice! The bar itself has a dark vibe to it to go along with the Western accents making for a nice ambiance to enjoy your drink/food. Plenty of tables running along side their massive bar and numerous TV's scattered about to allow you to watch the big game. Staff is quite friendly with good follow up throughout the meal. Overall a nice place to enjoy a well made drink and grab a bite to it. Its central location in the business district is also another huge plus if you want to make an evening of it in downtown Brighton.

We had water within a minute of sitting down. Our order was very fast. Easily within 10 minutes. Very impressive! I loved the southern fried chicken with the mashed sweet potatoes. Their cornbread was so moist and had a nice flavor. The breading on the chicken was perfectly cooked and had a nice sweet flavor. We decided on the bread pudding for dessert which was easily a shareable item. So much flavor and wasn't too overly sweet with the candied pecans and sweet drizzle topping. It has been a long time since I have had this dish from a restaurant done well enough to like. It was delicious. My only complaint is that the shrimp come tail-on... i know thats a thing these days, but ive never liked it. Anyways - the greens were tasty, the cornbread was good, and main portion.... delectable. We sat on the patio area. There was a nice breeze, and we joked about some of the people being scared of the sunlight because it was a bit darker inside.... Great food, great experience.

Very attentive and the food arrived quickly and accurately. The group ordered mostly the carne asada and the Al pastor tacos. It arrives mostly on the same tray and each person grabs their tacos. They were all Presented nicely with tasty toppings. Another person ordered the quesadilla and another ordered a rice bowl, I ordered the wet burrito. It was very big and was filled with a good amount of chicken and lots of rice, topped with queso. We ordered the chips and salsa and the chips and trio, this includes salsa, queso and guacamole. We requested the hot salsa as well. We enjoyed everything! We left full and satisfied. I would certainly eat here again. Great flavors! Quick side note, the prices are on the high side, chips and salsa are not complimentary and each item is ala cart. A side of rice and each salsa, jalapeños etc. gets pricey and when it's added to the tacos priced individually, the bill climbs quickly. Just something to take into consideration when planning an outing.

Our party of 6 arrived about 130 pm. The outdoor seating area was open and bustling. The indoor space was less than half full and we had no wait to get a seat except that no one was at the hostess station. The bartender did greet us and another group relatively quickly but this was the only thing that was quick this visit. Without going into great detail, we were seated for about 10 minutes before a waitress came to the table. We ordered drinks and it took almost 20 minutes for them to start to arrive and 30 minutes to get all 6 drinks. It took over an hour to get food and the entire visit was almost 2 1/2 hours. Mind you this is an upscale bar not a multicourse fine dining establishment. We were told that they were understaffed due to people not showing up but from what I could see they had 2 servers and a bar tender for about 15 active tables. Our waitress, while nice, was inattentive, often leaving us with empty drinks. The food was as good as we have come to expect as were the drinks when we could get them. I will say the chicken tenders my son ordered were over cooked but still tasty. Normally, I would rate this location as 4 stars but not this trip. Again, I hope this was just an off day but service like this again will result in losing our business going forward.

On the plus side, she brought a cup of lemon wedges--which we did not want. She finally took our order and again we waited FOREVER for the food. My order was wrong--regular not pretzel bun and cheddar, not Swiss. Of course, she didn't return for a long time, and we needed to be somewhere, so I ate it. By the time she returned to see if everything was ok, it was almost gone! They did take $1 off the bill and offered that there was a new guy in the kitchen. I did not want to grow old waiting for a remake! They have disappointingly switched over to coated French fries. Their fries used to be good. These are not especially. All in all, it was a slightly unpleasant experience. I doubt we will be back soon. Seems there might be a staffing problem at this location--or a management problem.
