Met up with my girlfriends today at Bourbons for Sunday brunch and loved everything about it! I was torn between ordering from the brunch menu or lunch, and decided on brunch since that is what we initially planned on. First, I will say I personally felt that the prices were fair for a 'made from scratch ' menu, and the portion size was just right for me. My boyfriend on the other hand has a big appetite, and he probably could have eaten one and a half or two brunch entrees. If you are really hungry, it might be a good idea to order an extra side dish. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was amazing. The chicken was so tender and the breading was delicious. The Michigan cherry sauce drizzled on top was homemade in-house and excellent. I would have loved a little more of the sauce, but decided to go with maple syrup instead and enjoyed that as well. I ordered a side of bacon to go with my meal, and it was thick cut and cooked to perfection [imho]. My friends ordered the eggs Benedict and French toast, and all three of us cleaned our entire plates. I also have to comment on the coffee because it was *that* good. I drink mine black and it was so full in flavor. I will definitely be back to try the lunch and dinner menus. **This Restaurant landed a spot in my "Favorite Breakfast/Brunch Spots" collection! Have been to Bourbons multiple times and enjoyed. Sunday brunch yesterday however was a disappointment. Had a reservation at noon, we're seated promptly and food was delivered within 10 minutes. Happy with quick service but we weren't even halfway through our meal and could already tell they were ready to seat another group at our table. We were barely there for 45 minutes and we're basically being pushed out the door. I get a 90 minute table all allotment but 45 minutes for brunch we're they advertise it as a leisurely place to catch up with friends is sad when spending 40+ on brunch per person. Also, very tacky to have people constantly looking over your table at your plate with their I pad to plan next seating every 5 minutes. :( read more

Loved this place. Great drinks, tasty food, and even better service. Perfect atmosphere for a fun night out. The seabass was kick ass, and the sauce with it was out of this world... read more

Had a great dinner at Bourbons tonight. Highly recommend making a reservation, the restaurant was very busy. I had the 6oz filet with redskin mashed potatoes and green beans and it was delicious. Not a huge fan of the burnt ends as an appetizer as they were pretty fatty and not burnt. We also had the hummingbird cake which was pretty delicious! read more

I don't feel that the food quality warrants the price. Several of the items are good like the fried Turkey breast, but they are not of better quality than Cracker Barrel who are less pricey than them. Save your money. Drinks are above local restaurants also, and not of better quality. I feel that Cracker Barrel provides the same or better quality for a better price. read more

First impressions can make a difference. We went to this restaurant this afternoon for lunch, the hostess sat us at a table inside. There were three waitresses standing towards the back of the restaurant and two of them saw us sit town. We sat and looked at the menu for a bit and no one came over to take our order. Waiters and waitresses passed our table numerous times and no one came over and spoke with us. After 10 minutes we got up and I returned our menus to the hostess, (she was on a call) I told her we were leaving as no one waited on us, not even a glass of water was delivered. They were not busy, as it was the end of the lunch crowd. Pretty disappointed. read more

stellar whiskey, scotch, and bourbon selection. I'm able to find "rarer" scotch here that others restaurants don't carry. the eggs benedict was phenomenal as was the french toast! recommend making a reservation on sundays for brunch. read more

First time checking this place out yesterday! Sat at the bar for happy hour and it was a great experience. The bartender is a mixologist who nailed my refreshing drink! I forgot her name- but black hair, and sweet as can be:) i ordered the Nashville hot chicken slider! Party in my mouth. Every bite was perfection. Covid- they have the safety precautions on lockdown! This was my first time eating out and I felt safe. If you haven't been- def check it out! read more

Very nice. Pleasant atmosphere. Tasty food. Attentive wait staff. A little pricey but that's pretty much anywhere you go anymore. My friend and I like to do lunch here sometimes and then walk main street and visit the shops. read more

This place has a great atmosphere. The menu has a lot of gluten-free plates. They do however need to specify not everything on that plate is gluten-free. The fries are not because they are cooked in the same fryer as the fried chicken. The cornbread isn't either because of the flour they use. The saving grace was my husband asking questions after we received his plate. The waitress was understanding and brought him a new plate and some green beans. My cocktail was an Alabama slammer on the rocks. They didn't know how to make it, but they looked it up. They didn't have sloe gin. Kudos for looking it up and not saying No immediately. A must place to eat read more

Caprese salad- excellent Fried chicken dinner- excellent, succulent Shrimp and grits - excellent Short rib dinner- excellent Everything we ordered was amazing! My wife and I have eaten here twice, once for the Sunday brunch and one other time for lunch. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich both times. I eaten at Hattie B's Hot Chicken in Nashville and in Birmingham and I think this is better! My wife doesn't like hot foods so she got it with seasonings and loved it too. She considers herself a fried chicken snob so that's a huge compliment. We were at the outdoor seating the second time there and liked "people watching". Keep up the great work! The waitresses were wonderful too, they were very enjoyable meals. read more

This place just opened in downtown Brighton and is owned by the same people as Brighton Bar and Grill. My husband and I loved everything. He had the burnt ends and said they were fabulous. We tried the wings and hummus too and both of them had really great flavor. We were both surprised with how much we loved the hummus. My husband ordered the fried chicken for his meal and said it was very good. He really liked the Okra too. I had the brisket sandwich with no dairy (allergy) and they were very accommodating. The brisket is so good, it's crisp and juicy. I loved it! I imagine the sandwich is even better WITH the dairy. The service has been great too. Our waiter was friendly, funny and attentive. He made us laugh and the cougars next to us. The drinks are to die for. I only tried the blueberry martini and I didn't need anything else. Omg I want to have it on tap at my house, so yummy! This place is packed on a Wednesday, they're already doing so many thing right. Definitely try it! read more

Nice new place, interesting menu, friendly and professional service. Worthwhile a visit. Well done decor and design. Comfortable clubby feel. Nice art on walls. Nice bar area. Comfortable dining area and nice patio with mostly high tops. Higher end finishes. Lots of thought and money went into the design and buildout. Learned this is independently owned. Walked in for a very late lunch. Greeted promptly and seated. Waiter comes over quickly; clearly trained and knowledgeable of menu. Checked on us quite a bit, and offered good service. Interesting menu. Lots a different choices of southern inspired foods. Ordered fried green tomatoes for an app. Came out quickly. Just ok; batter crispy and good, but not the traditional corn meal breading. Tomatoes still a bit too fleshy and under seasoned. Tomato relish fantastic though. Manager did his first table touch as we were finishing them up. Asked how they were, and I replied "Ok". To his credit, he inquired further, as to what could be better about them. Clearly was interested in getting feedback. Hopefully they redesign the dish. Chicken corn chowder. Really really good. Not too thick, not too brothy. Great flavor. Jambalaya - great homemade flavor. Lots of meat. Tiny bit of heat, but not spicy. Tomato base. Shrimp and grits - solid but needs tweaking. The Gouda grits are fantastic. Comes with collard greens and corn. Issue I had was there was far too much of the bourbon honey sauce. It was good, but made the grits too sweet. Fried chicken - fantastic. Properly cooked boneless skinless breast. Perfectly crispy and crunchy crust. Mashed sweet potato clearly homemade and not sweetened. And the best part - the pink peppercorn citrus honey sauce. Out of this world good. Biscuit seems to be baked on premises. I ordered coleslaw instead of okra - just ok. Bit dry. Needs revamp of preparation. Brisket open faced sandwich. Really good - melted cheese and bbq sauce. Tasty meat. When the bill came, I noticed the manager comped the fried green tomatoes. Unnecessary but appreciated. This place still has a little growing to do, but I eagerly await coming back next time I come to town. I would have given this place 4 stars, but the overall dining experience was so good, I added an extra star. Think that's a first for me. read more

Excellent food. Great drinks. Nice atmosphere. We ate at the bar and the bartender was fantastic.

My Wife and I came to Bourbons on a Tuesday night. We were surprised to see how busy they were, but happy that so many others thought it was worth visiting as well as this place must have something going for it. We started with a cask strength old fashioned (excellent) and pink margarita (not much alcohol). We each ordered the house salad to get us started and loved both the citrus vinaigrette and honey mustard dressing which I'm going to have to find a recipe for. For the entrees we ordered the braised short ribs and she ordered the buttermilk fried chicken. Both dishes were excellent as well as the mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, and collard greens. The only disappointments for the night were the cornbread, biscuit, and hummingbird cake we ordered to go. The baked goods were all dry and without flavor. Would definitely visit again and glad to see a Brighton business thriving. Hope it's here for many years to come. read more

Went to Bourbons for their special St Patrick's day menu. I was the only one who ordered the corned beef and cabbage dinner. The rest of our group ordered from their regular menu. I was totally disappointed in the Corned Beef dinner. I was given two small slices of corned beef, that had no taste to it at all. The red skin potatoes had no taste and were overcooked. The cabbage was lukewarm, the carrots were as hard as a rock not sure if they were completely raw. I mentioned this to our server, his only response was....I will mention this concern to our kitchen. Normally Bourbons would get 4 stars from me, the Corned Beef dinner was the worst Corned Beef meal I ever had. read more

Great pet friendly restaurant. Excellent service . Play Blues music. IPA and salmon were great.

Had a great meal at Bourbons last Saturday. Got the fig, blue cheese, pear and pecan pizza. It was super nice with a wonderful crust. My only gripe - the pecans were raw and it would have been much nicer if they were toasted or candied. The smoked bourbon was lovely and unusual. Excellent service. read more

My girlfriend and I have come here twice now and we definitely can't wait to come back. Both times we've come with our wet dog right from the dog park and felt right at home. They gave our dog a water bowl and treated us like family. The Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Paul, our server was extremely friendly and hooked it up with the sauces. Also Jean the hostess always takes awesome care of us and makes sure that we have everything we need. We always like to split meals, and when you ask them to split it they truly do split it. They will bring out the food for you on two separate plates and make sure that you have more than enough for both of us. I very highly recommend this place! P.S. root beer floats were the perfect way to end the night. read more

Went there today, what an awesome place had the smoked old fashions and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich it was fantastic. Kathy had the shrimp and grits it was very good. Great drinks , was not the fan of the food, too much oil and not enough flavor but overall a very cute place with good service.

Met a buddy for lunch today at Bourbons. I have not been here since new ownership took over and re did the inside of the restaurant. I did like the decor much better not as dark and dingy as the old place. Our waitress/ bartender Tony was very nice. She was very informative regarding the menu and drinks even though we didn't have a drink. We ordered an app of fried pickles which were good the dipping sauce was very good. The gold standard to for fried pickles is the Tahquamenon Falls brew pub. We also ordered the burnt tips and we also split the the pulled brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The tips were somewhat fatty a few we couldn't eat the were all fat, the brisket was terrific and the slaw was just ok. Being polish I am critical of good slaw this was just ok. I would go back solely because of Tony and to try some of her drinks as a mixologist and other food choices. read more

The ambiance and restaurant is so beautiful. We sat by the fireplace and I loved it. The service was ok, a bit slow but very nice. We went on a Wednesday around 3 pm. The onion dip was very tasty, needed more sweet potato chips with it though! The pizza was okay, it was a little lukewarm when it made it to me but the flavor was very good. My sister got the pear salad with blue cheese and she really liked it. I would go back. read more

Went for the first time! A little noisy. Limited menu but some pretty yummy items. I had the shrimp and a side salad. The citrus dressing was really good. The fried chicken looked soooo good but I'm trying to be good lol. The mushroom risotto also looked so yummy. The drinks were delicious. So much for trying to be good! Hubby had grouper and said it was good but the blackened was a little bit too much. Can't wait to go back and try something else! read more

We got the pork belly burnt ends and the French fried pickles. Both very good. I had the BLT and it was good. The bacon was a little too done for me but still ok. My husband had the cherry wood smoked brisket and it was excellent. We would definitely go back. read more

Great food and superb drink selections. Next time I'm in Brighton I will be going back.

Food and drinks were great. However, after ordering dinner, drinks, and dessert, we were being rushed out. We hadn't even been there for 90 minutes snd were still finishing our drinks. I expected a more relaxed experience, especially when we were dropping over 150 dollars. read more

Ever since the pandemic I've found I need to lower my expectations with dining out -- most places are usually short-staffed and the resulting food and service suffers. After visiting Bourbons I now remember how dining out at a nice restaurant is supposed to be. The place was packed (for good reason), but you could tell they had the staff to handle it. We were greeted by a friendly hosting staff and seated right away (recommendation: make a reservation online). Our waiter Matt was a very personable guy who was there immediately to take our drink orders and made sure we had what we needed throughout the meal. Whenever a plate was empty, there was another gentleman there to clear it right away. Now the food -- it was awesome! I had the blackened grouper and my wife had the shrimp and grits. I lived in Florida for 9 years and it was right up there with some of the best I've had. I've now found a new favorite restaurant in the area... read more

Went in yesterday for drinks/dinner with friends. I guess there was a time limit at our table. So while we were still finishing our meals and drinks we were being given our bills, the waitress apologized and said she had no idea we were given a time limit and said they were going to force us to leave. They had someone reaching across our table to clear it and check our drinks. We all still had full drinks and the hostess said that was our problem, we were over the time limit and it was time to leave. she was very rude. There we're people that were in the same area as we were seated prior to us and they weren't asked to leave. it was very unpleasant. read more

We had family from California visiting and this was the goodbye dinner. Service was great. We opened with a couple plates of pork belly burnt ends, and everyone loved it. Dinner came out after a reasonable time, but apparently the kitchen lost one ribeye order, and they admitted it, and it came out fairly quickly. My ribeye was extremely flavorful. One nit; more soubaise sauce please. The braised short rib was praised too. This place was packed, with a line outside. Overall a great experience and I'd go back. read more

We won't be back. I picked this place for my birthday dinner and brought four family members with me. The burnt ends appetizer was mostly fat, barely any meat. I had the Georgia pecan salad and the lettuce was very limp, like cooked spinach. Other family members had issues with their food also. The drinks were the weakest i have seen at any restaurant ever. I usually have one drink with dinner. It was my birthday so after two drinks and feeling nothing, i ordered a third. Still nothing. Wow. It was the Cajun lemonade. So after paying top dollar for three "craft" cocktails (they came in a small glass) and feeling nothing I figured they owed me a free birthday shot. Having served at many restaurants, I thought this was a pretty fair request. As a server I always had latitude to comp items. It's about good service. The server asked the manager and she said no. No offer for a free dessert or 1/2 price cocktail or anything! Just no. Wow. Horrible greed of a restaurant that can clearly afford to treat a customer something on their birthday. It was our first time there and we won't be back. A restaurant should be about good food, good service, and taking care of customers. This is just a greedy, nasty company with bad food and absolutely no care for their customers whatsoever. read more
