Boundary Stone never misses. I'm always taken care of when I come here. The staff is welcoming and the food is consistent.

The best spicy marg I've had in the city so far! I've been hunting for a good actually spicy spicy margarita since September and I've finally found it. Not only was it good, but reasonably priced as well. The hummus and mozzarella sticks were great also with good portion sizes. Haven't tried dinner yet, but very much looking forward to it. Service at the bar is always quick and friendly. A very comfortable relaxing vibe here. read more

solid neighborhood spot, tons of room to sit inside and out. Service is decent, food is decent, everything is tasty but nothing outstanding. We tried wings (pretty good, very saucy), hamburgers (decent flavor but very average burger), sides (again average, tried green beans, fries and sweet potato fries), french onion soup also decent but not as cheesy as others. read more

Boundary Stone has changed a lot since the last time I was here - which doesn't feel that long ago, but time flies so who knows, maybe it's been longer than I thought. Menu, ambiance, everything is vastly different (I think the only thing that is the same is the menu has the honey hot wings/sandwich). If I had never eaten here before I might have come away thinking the vibe/food was not for me versus feeling disappointed. I'll try to be detailed, because I do think Boundary is now going for a different thing that just didn't align with my expectations. Went for dinner since it's down the street and didn't feel like cooking. First, you seat yourself - this feels very Irish pub, but unfortunately I live in the U.S. and this is not the norm in DC, so a sign indicating as much would be helpful. Instead, we stood around waiting to be seated until an employee walked by and was like "....yeah???" with raised eyebrows. She wasn't rude exactly, but are we really the first people to show up and not know we were supposed to seat ourselves? Or, maybe she was just rushed off her feet and knew she would only be getting (splitting?) 75% of a 20% surcharge + whatever the 25% is the restaurant claims is for PTO/healthcare on top of her wages. You order via QR code (which I personally hate; husband prefers); the card with the QR code has a handwritten question/discussion topic which was cute. My daughter immediately asked my husband and me the question (took me a minute to realize why she was asking) and it was a nice personal touch. There is a physical menu on the table, but it's not updated. The item my daughter wanted to order was 'out of stock' via the QR link. We ordered drinks, 3 appetizers, and entrees. I can only recommend one of the items, so I won't name them all. Drinks arrived fairly quickly, and about 30 minutes later all the food was delivered at the same time. Maybe when you're ordering via QR code you're supposed to just keep adding to your order as you finish dishes, maybe you can learn from my mistake. The patty melt was good and would def order again; other apps/dishes were ok (nothing we would order again), but the spinach and artichoke dip app was actually bad. It looked unappetizing, and it just tasted like those cardboard packages of frozen spinach from childhood. Kid loves ketchup and I ordered and was charged for extra ketchup for her entree, but it was not delivered, and no one ever stopped by to ask how everything was/if we needed anything so couldn't ask for it. The upcharge is nominal, but unfortunately this entire experience was so subpar that I'm mad about it. Don't have the option to add extra sauce if staff isn't going to read the ticket and provide it. Or maybe just leave a bottle of Heinz on the tables instead of acting like DoorDash? Interactions with the staff (outside the awkward why are you standing here, OH you wanted to eat here, go find a table conversation) included 1. drinks being dropped off 2. plates being set on the table, which I subsequently had to shuffle around because of course the runner had no idea who ordered what. Checked out on my phone. A 20% service charge is automatically added, which was clearly stated on the menu and fine as supposedly it's to provide a livable wage/time off benefits/healthcare to staff, but I was annoyed that on top of that a 10% tip was defaulted with the usual option to do 5% or more than 10%. There is not the usual 'no tip' option. You have to select custom tip and enter $0.00 if you don't want to leave an additional tip. A tip is for service, and no service was provided. Someone dropping off food I ordered on my phone at the table I sat myself at is not providing service. It is very normal in DC now for restaurants to have a 20% service fee, and I always tip on top of that, but this is my first experience with that at a restaurant that didn't provide standard table service. I do think the prices generally reflected the mediocre quality of the food - it's not like you're paying $30 for an unappetizing entree, though some items did feel overpriced for the quality - but the experience/service, food and ambiance were not what I was expecting based on previous experiences here (literally since they opened) and I was really disappointed. If I go back it'll be because I'm in the mood for wings (hopefully the quality of those hasn't changed). read more

A great local spot for a solid meal and great drinks. The bartenders are friendly (I always sit at the bar) and I generally just love the atmosphere here. read more

Stopped by this bar for a pre-dinner drink and had THE BEST experience! Our bartender was extremely friendly and had great recommendations for drinks on menu as well as items off menu to try. Each drink tasted yummy but also had a delightful presentation touch we weren't expecting. Our experience was a highlight in our day; ask for Gordon and you will not be disappointed! read more

The best brunch spot. Bottomless mimosas for $20 and really good vegan options. The cocktails on tap are great too

Great staff, tasty menu options, nice location. Would definitely eat there again in the future.

I will dream about those chicken wings and the hot honey chicken sandwich for the rest of my years. I might fly back to DC just to eat that sandwich. Husband had the pork belly blt and it was the best prepared pork belly either of us have had. 10/10 food. read more

They played the women's college basketball finals with audio which gives it 5 stars in my book! Really generous service as always and solid bar food and drinks. Have been here often for trivia and other events and it's always a good time. Solid local spot. My only complaint is they really need to improve their soda water. It is almost always flat whenever I'm there and they seem to be aware of the issue but don't do anything to change it? read more

Brunch food was fantastic. The hot chicken eggs Benedict was incredible and will be getting it again without a doubt. Originally we sat outside but us and our food were attacked by flies so they moved us indoors. Drinks weren't anything special especially for brunch. Prices were also fine. Food was delicious though! read more

*Short and sweet visit* Came here after a run for happy hour. I love the location and the inside. Only had one beer (my favorite DC Brau). I saw a stage for possibly live music. I will definitely be back. read more

Me and my roommates were looking for a bar that was showing the wizards vs warriors game (around 10:30 pm). We walked around for a bit till we found Boundary Stone. There was an event going on so most of the common area was full, and the tv's were playing different games since others had dibs on it. The bartender (Garett or Gareth) was extremely accommodating since he set us up in the back room with a tv to ourselves. Watching the game and drinking a milk stout nitro (Left Hand Brewing Co) was an awesome time. Steph Curry had 51 points so I'm glad we were able to check it out. Definitely will try to come back and try their food when the kitchen is open. read more

Boundary Stone is OUTSTANDING! My sons and I enjoyed an early dinner and it hit every mark - excellent service and food. It is obvious Team Boundary Stone loves their work. They take pride in their food and are cheerful. The bartender thanked us for coming in when he dropped off our drinks. Details matter and Boundary Stone pays attention. Their oysters are perfectly shucked and chilled. Their sauces were all delicious. We also enjoyed the mozzarella sticks and boneless wings to start. The boneless wings were made in house. As my son remarked, it may have been the best fried chicken he's ever had. For entrees, my sons ordered the burger, fried chicken sandwich and salmon BLT. All raved about their choices. The hot honey sauce was a crowd pleaser. I opted for the fish and chips. They are the best in the DMV. The fish was firm, perfectly fried, and the batter to fish ratio was genius. When I shared this with our waiter he humbly said, "We're Irish, we better be able to make good fish and chips..." Boundary Stone's neighbor are blessed to have such a great restaurant and bar in their "hood." I wish I was so lucky. We all agreed, we cannot wait for our next visit. read more

They add a 20% service fee to every check... yeah not for me. The food was okay , drinks were good but the service was great.

Came for the food and bottomless drinks, stayed for the service. Made a reservation (would recommend) and got seated right when we arrived. It was all our first time there and everyone collectively agreed that the food was better than we expected and the bottomless drink option was actually a great deal(love that you could switch between mimosas and a spritz). Tucker was our main server, I blame him for my headache later that day because that man was at our table FILLINNNGGG our drinks. He was chatty and funny. No complaints whatsoever read more

Awesome atmosphere. They had good happy hour specials and friendly service. I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich and it was perfect. I will definitely come back. read more

The best neighborhood bar. Awesome staff, great drink selections, and good food. Great place for live music and they engage with the local music scene. They renovated during the pandemic and flipped the stage around and its a much better flow. Scheduled events through out the week- trivia, open mic night, newly added bingo. Also a great spot to watch nfl football, they have a large projector in the stage area. Only down side is they are actually an Eagles bar :p. Also, menu is limited if you are vegetarian. read more

Boundary Stone - 10th anniversary event - New American Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I've been to Boundary Stone Public House a few times and really like it. The minimal decor is well-done with an old-school twist. It's super chill with an amazing whiskey list, plus good beer and wine. Service has been excellent. The website is decent, though could use some updated menus and a happy hour menu. The one thing I don't like is the food. I've had a few things (crostini, quesadilla, and chicken sandwich) and have been sorely disappointed. I've found everything quite bland, not well executed, and small portions. So, 4 stars for drinks and ambiance, but more like 2.5 for the food. And while I won't begrudge their popularity, it does get crowded. It's definitely a great choice though, just eat before or after. read more

I've been here a few times for drinks and once for food. It's a pretty standard neighborhood bar, and it's got a decent drink selection. I like the outdoor patio area, and it's situated in an area that's not too busy. Unfortunately, their food is pretty mediocre. I've tried the fried pickles and the Honey Hot Chicken sandwich -- the pickles were soggy and salty, and the sandwich had a nice flavor but felt a bit wilty. I'd recommend this place for drinks, but not for a meal. read more

Boundary Stone is situated between the boundary of NE and NW and hence the name of the Resto-bar. This is a major hipster joint, but in a good way. There are other hipster joints in the DMV that are just pretentious but this place is the real deal. Although on the weekends, there's plenty of hipster activity, there is a varied crowd, which is always good. I've been here on both the weekdays for lunch and weekends for dinner and whether it's day or night, I've always had a great time. In fact, I brought my Mexican and French friends here when they were in town and they loved it. I would probably go there more often for the food except it is somewhat out of my way and I hate driving on Rhode Island avenue because of the speed or red light cameras in DC. Anyhow, this is definitely one of the better restobars in the area. Good stuff. read more

Three stars and change for a chill neighborhood spot. Live music starts up late on the weekend. Their Old Fashioned is tasty! Skip the cocktail with pepper-infused vodka though-- I love spice, but it was so undrinkable that no one at my table wanted more than one masochistic sip. I liked the beets in their signature burger, and the fries were properly crispy. The seasonal deviled eggs were just okay, but the quesadilla al pastor is very yummy. read more

20% service fee on all tabs. Came to eat here and the service was ok and the food was decent. But when I went to pay there was no mention that the tip was already included and when I asked what the "20% service fee" is, only then was explained that it is a tip pool. read more

Came here with my GF and two sisters as the first leg of a Saturday out and about. I emailed the Restaraunt for a reservation and they were very attentive and allowed be to alter my reservation via email. The ambiance of the Restaraunt is great. Two separate inside rooms and patio seating. The Restaraunt has a lot of natural elements to its decor, and the music was chill and perfect for enjoying a conversation. Food was great. Most of us got the fried chicken and French toast. Chicken came out crispy and juicy, and French toast was thick but not too soggy. Also got bottomless mimosas which ended up being a good deal. Service was fine. Not horrible but not above and beyond. Mimosa refills were decent, but took a little while for our food. We got sat right away when we arrived. All in all a good spot for a delicious brunch that isn't over the top expensive and a good value bottomless mimosa. Will consider coming back read more

We needed a bite to eat and walked over to Boundary Stone. I and the honey chicken wings and I am obsessed with wings. These were REALLY good. I appreciate a great restaurant with great wings. I also had the guava beer and that was delicious as well. My friend had the burger and the mozzarella sticks. This was a great pick and the outdoor patio was nice! I would definitely recommend coming back here. I've heard great things before but I finally got to see what my friends were talking about. Our waiter was really nice and the space was very casual and not loud at all. Apparently they have a live band, but not the night we went. I enjoyed my experience here. So far this place has been the best dining experience in DC we've had and would definitely go back. Food was excellent and didn't wait too long , drinks from the bar were on point , waitstaff were very friendly and prices were reasonable considering. They do have an 18% gratuity tax to make sure their staff can make a living wage which I think is fantastic, we also left cash on top of that. Area can be a bit sketchy once it gets dark so plan accordingly. read more

Boundary Stone was great! I went with 2 friends for bottomless brunch. This deal is one of the best in the city. Just $17 for *strong* bottomless mimosas that keep flowing. The server never let it go empty, and I really appreciate that. Most places I have to bug the server for a refill. I ordered the brunch burger. The egg was cooked perfectly and it was overall a great burger. However, I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was very well done. That was disappointing. My two friends ordered the chicken and waffles and the huevos rancheros. I tried both and they were great. I would definitely order the chicken and waffles when I go next time. Overall Boundary Stone is a great find. It wasn't too crowded or too loud and it was a nice casual, comfortable vibe. I hope it doesn't become more popular :) read more

Came here for brunch. It gets pretty busy so make a reservation if you can. We were seated immediately and promptly given water and menus. We ordered: Hot wings: super flavorful and comes with tasty homemade blue cheese sauce. Texas french toast: get this. Mouth wateringly fluffy with the perfect amount of crunch. Deviled eggs: nothing amazing but super tasty. Yogurt granola: ratio was off but overall delicious. They offer a pretty solid bottomless mimosa deal at $14. I give them points for their champagne to OJ ratio, and they come back immediately for refills. Not into minosas? They also make a mean Irish coffee. Worth checking out if you're in the area! read more

One of my favorite spots. The food here is reliably always good and the service is always excellent. I'm a big fan of their maple bacon grits for brunch. Their french toast and frittata are knock outs as well. There is outdoor seating but it can get quite crowded so if you're visiting during COVID try to go at a less crowded time. read more

Very nice bar, good stuff , decent food, except one thing... what's up with the bartender's attitude? This guy has some anger issues and does NOT like to work with people at all! I don't want to come back just because of him! read more

Boundary Stone is a wonderful neighborhood spot. It's casual enough for families, cozy enough for a first date, and friendly enough for a solo dining/drink adventure. Their veggie burger is one of my favorites -- I get it almost every time I'm there. I highly recommend checking it out, stop by for a drink, or share some appetizers on their outdoor patio. Post-pandemic, I'm hopeful to see more live music in their back room. read more

Brunch was perfection. We made reservations for brunch for a party of 6 on a Saturday. Zero crowd and we were seated right away. I ordered The Full Stone breakfast, which is an American rendition of an Irish/British Full fry. Well done, well done. Growing up in Europe, I'm not stranger to this plate. Baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, over easy eggs, bacon for miles, wheat bread buttered and toasted to perfection, a house made sausage with an incredible assortment or herbs, and a crispy fresh hash brown. The only thing it was missing was a grilled tomato to really seal the deal. Aside from that - Dear. God. And all for $15. My boyfriend got the Fried Chicken and French Toast. They say "Texas toast" - but damn, still doesn't do the size of it justice. I'll be back. read more

Boundary Stone is your classic neighborhood bar with local feels and solid bar food. Their burgers and chicken sandwiches are always solid and when there isn't a pandemic, they are a fantastic place to go for happy hour. Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner with a couple of friends. Our server ( I don't remember her name) was great. She was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations. We started out with the fried pickles which were wayyyyy too salty. Two days later, I'm still chugging water from those pickles. They were also not fried enough. The deep fried must've not been hot enough so some of them were soggy. I got the al pastor quesadilla, which was good but nothing special. My friends got the hot chicken sandwich. I had a bite and while I love fried chicken, it just felt heavy and the lettuce was sad and wilted. My other friend got The braised short rib which looked delicious but the portion size was small. We got bread pudding for dessert which was probably my favorite part of the meal. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a moist delicious bread pudding - yum! I'll come back, maybe not for food but for drinks. read more
