If you have dogs with you, this is the winery to visit!They do have a couple winery dogs there, and if your dogs aren't friendly with other dogs, they'll put them in another room. This place has a fenced in area for your dogs to run, and there are tables inside the dog area you can sit at and drink wine. While the wine might be okay, this establishment is terrible. They are rude. The restaurant was empty, but they insisted on not letting our group join because we were more than 6 people. We offered to split into groups and were rudely told that is against their absurd policy. We were with a calm nice family and treated like a large group of drunk people. This was probably our favorite winery of our trip. The wine was good and had a reasonably varied but not overwhelming selection, which you choose five wines from. We did our tasting with Paul, who was knowledgeable and professional. The view over the vineyard and out to the lake is serene. We will be canceling our membership. The wine is good. But what a demeaning and disheartening experience to what was a staple of our yearly trip. Before we get the canned response from the owner, let me say it was 11:00am and we were a group of totally sober 40 something professionals that have spent a good deal of money here for many years. A great place with amazing views and even better staff! Completely dog friendly, with a place for dogs to run off leash and with a tent to allow them to be out of the sun. Wines were amazing and they offer cheeses, breads and dried meats to further the experience. The staff went above and beyond for us when after returning home (3 hours away) we realized we left our doggie care bag at our table. My friends and I came here on a beautiful sunny day in the fall- we were here on the early side (11:30am) so it was a little chilly outside (windy due to being high up!) which is where everyone had to sit due to covid. It was well spaced out with quite a few picnic tables set up- they also have an outdoor waiting area with chairs in the event they are at capacity. I had a full flight (you get to select your own choices) and because of the covid laws at the time, we had to order food so we grabbed some cheese and crackers. I really enjoyed their sparkling wines which I thought were very interesting and a little unusual. I ended up with a bottle of two of them. Our server was SUPER helpful and attentive- they were really nice here. However, the best part, as I mentioned, are the dogs!!!! They have some house dogs that were out roaming around saying hi to everyone and they were great! There was also the CUTEST pittie puppy there are the time that I wish I could've taken home with me! p.s. view of the lake is great! would probably be a good spot for sunset. read more

A bit off the beaten path, but once you take a moment and enjoy the view, you'll realize it's well worth it. The tasting room is beautiful, intimate but not small. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The owners (Bruce and Diana) are seemingly on-site behind the bar every weekend (which is sometimes hard to find), a pleasant surprise. If you get a chance, head down on an off day (a winter week day when you won't be bombarded with bachelorette parties or race fans) and talk to them- ask questions and learn about wine; the grapes, the process, the stories. They're proud, rightfully so, as their wines are refined but not snobby. Plus, the winery pups make the visit even better. On the wines: Riesling Riesling Riesling. First and foremost: try them all. They rank up their with some world renowned vineyards (please, do yourself a favor and buy a few bottles of the Reserve, to age another year or two). You won't find anything sweet here because they're trying to do away with the cloyingly sweet reputation rieslings have - and they're doing it well. (Dr. Frank and Chateau Lafayette Reneau used to have my heart when it came to Riesling, Bruce and Diana's work quickly changed that.) I've been hard pressed to find a rose that I enjoy, but find myself grabbing a bottle of the dry rose every time we visit- soft on the palate in the beginning with hints of cherry and raspberry, but finishes surprisingly sharp. Easy drink for a summer day. They've recently started pushing their reds a bit more. We've always enjoyed the Harmonic red however, the addition of a Cabernet Franc has thrown a new, exciting opportunity in the mix, if you can let it age that long. Right now, it needs a little time. It's light and easy on the mouth - no heavy tannins, light Strawberry, plum and a little spice. We have 3 bottles aging currently and are excited to see the profile changes when we uncork them. I also HIGHLY recommend the Gewurtztraminer. A perfect grape to grow in the Finger Lakes but so many wineries just don't do it justice. We love the light spice of BB's Gewurtztraminer, floral at the start but not overpowering, with a little green apple thrown in for fun. Great with Thai food, if you like some spice. Overall, if you can't tell, Boundary Breaks is a top choice for my husband and I and we highly recommend a trip. We are wine club members as well, and enjoy the members only events they host during the year. read more

This relative newcomer was the clear favorite among the six wineries we visited over Memorial Day weekend. The bright tasting room strikes the right balance between rusticity and refinement. The best wines are the usual Rieslings (bought the 198) and Gewurztraminer, delivered here with elegance - no off flavor notes. Without making any effort, we wound up interacting with both owners - Diana at check out and Bruce when he brought us cold ice water as we enjoyed glasses of Riesling in umbrella shaded Adirondack chairs with lake views. The setup reminded me of William Hill in Napa, except here you are looking at a lake and not a, hill... Grab some cheese and crackers to enjoy with your wine. Definitely worth a return visit. Went to the finger lakes to have a relaxing weekend with my girlfriends. We had 9 people so had to get a bus, we pulled up and the owner SPRINTED ONTO the bus and said you don't have a reservation. Invited himself on bus, didn't ask name as we did in fact have a reservation for 1:00. Said I'm the owner and sorry we can't let you in. I understand that working in Covid can be stressful, but we had a whole weekend planned with an itinerary and all. The owner was rude and didn't even try to reschedule or accommodate. I absolutely loved this place! The tasting room was gorgeous and they had a dog! This place is dog friendly. The dog they had there was very cute and brought us her tennis ball. There is both indoor and outdoor dining areas. There's also a bar outside. I was able to try many of their rieslings and a few of their wines. They specialize in rieslings. My favorite that I had was the bubbly dry (I think it was called). This was also the 1st tasting they gave us. Each riesling bottle ranges from $18-22/each. The names for the drinks are straight forward and typically describe the flavor/style. The back area overlooks Seneca Lake and has lots of areas for lounging. They also have a fire pit. They have outdoor umbrellas too. The space indoors has a modern barn house chic look with white shiplap walls. This place is ranked #45 in top 101 wineries in the US! I can see why they made the top 101 list. The woman who worked there greeted our large group as soon as we got out of the limo. She told us a bit about their history. They also have ice wine here. I definitely want to come back here with my fiance and family when the weather's warmer again. read more

We finally made it! We've been trying to get to taste the wines here for quite some time but never were able to until the tasting room has been opened. Now I know what all the fuss is about. And it is well worth it. The winery does exclusively Rieslings and they do them really well. The dry (#239) and the semi (#198) didn't get a chance to try the #90 clone but expect it to be just as good. The Rieslings they make are very close to what I've tried in Germany from Mosel. May or may not be because the clones but then again on that point I don't really care because the wine is so good!!!! read more

Spent a long weekend on the lake for some wine tasting and exploring at Watkins Glen. Before the trip I watched some YouTube about places to go and this winery stood out. The owner stated that since they are off the beaten path, you need to be looking for them and not just noticing them along the busy road. A little something for everyone here. Ambiance/View: Best view we found at any of the wineries we visited during our trip. Absolutely breathtaking. It is down a kind of sketchy gravel road, but I promise, it is worth the drive. The tasting room is beautiful and the welcoming committee (a sweet brown dog named Ziggy) was our favorite. Plenty of outdoor seating (lots of it covered if you want) and they even have a fenced dog run/park if you bring your furry friend! Education: Fantastic education here; the tasting room staff described the winemaking process and the history of the winery, plus the tasting sheet itself has some great charts and other bits of educational material which was nice to have. Bob, our bartender, also explained using charts and photos the stage that the grapes were in in their growing process, which was very cool; something I've never learned before. Other: I mentioned a bit previously, but this place is super dog friendly! Dogs should be leashed, but they do have an off-leash area customers can utilize. There is a "house dog" there when we were there, though, so be aware that you will likely be greeted at the door. read more
