I'm not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews regarding the service or interior is here. It's a diner, it's small and you can reach over and grab your drink from the counter. If this type of experience doesn't appeal to you, don't go to a diner. The menu is on the wall and is vast (again this is not a negative). Service has been great every visit and I've had different waitresses and staff working the grill each time. Breakfast is good and portions are large. American chopped suey is veryyyyy good and reasonably priced. Another go to is the cheeseburger platter with fries and pickles. Place is 24/7 and prepared food is made daily, so at the very least, skip the likes of IHOP and Denny's and get a decent breakfast here. read more

This review could help of a few vegetarians( Eggitarians) out there. So late night breakfast is the best food one can have. I went for the home fries with toast. The fries were seasoned with perfection not too hot, but they had a uniqueness of their own. The portion was more than sufficient. The Italian toast is perfected with a generous amount of butter. Pancakes is what I would try when I visit them again. All in all, if you looking for great hospitality(there were two guys around) and good food, you should definitely go to this particular diner. Maybe I should have looked to see that there hasn't been many reviews here lately. Based on the two most recent ones, I shouldn't have bought the Living Social deal that brought me here. My experience left much to be desired. We walked in and there were a few people at the counter and in booths, we still had options on where to sit. Our drink order was taken quickly and found out the hard way that the only menu is the one on the wall. Not easy when my companion is a five year old who can't read. Our order arrived fairly quick. I ordered an onion and cheese omelet. Not the largest or best tasting food in the world but it tasted OK. For nine bucks however, I expected a bit more. After our food was delivered, we weren't checked on until after we had finished our food. No offer of a refill either. Guess it's a good thing we didn't need anything. Plenty of other options right there on Shrewsbury Street for me to try next time I'm in the area and hungry. read more

It's a classic. You go see a show and then you go to Boulevard. Went there this week. Got fries and wings. The wings are battered, Like little fried chicken legs. Not so great for my gluten sensitive partner. The fries are nothing to write home about. But it was all hot, and freshly cooked. The staff was nice, if a bit harried. The omelet was fantastic and came with old fashioned home fries and bread. The food was made to order, hot, and tasty. The breakfast with coffee came to $9 and was will worth it. The food tastes OK it's definitely not anything special but the portions are large and the prices are reasonable. Best diner experience in Worcester, which is saying a lot! The Bully has been around since the '30s, and the interior is incredibly well-preserved. The food is good, the toast is great, and most importantly, it's open TWENTY FOUR HOURS (except late Sunday). This is really important, because most diners in New England are not open 24 hours, and are in fact usually open only for breakfast and lunch. The servers are very experienced and friendly. The quintessential diner car experience in Worcester-- I even took visiting relatives from JAPAN here for burgers. The five of us squeezed into the wooden bench seats at a table intended for four, and watched as the servers took and called out orders from behind the counter in the midst of efficient chaos. Regulars sit up at the counter, nursing coffee and sodas. The car is decorated in such a way that gives you that "old time feeling"-- I guess the place has a lot of history (I think it opened in the 1930s??). The staff at Boulevard Diner are busy and blunt, but they call you "honey" and that makes you feel like family. So, the burgers are tasty, cheap, small and simple. I've also enjoyed breakfast here a couple of times-- pleased with the eggs, home fries, toast, and coffee...all for under $4. This is the definitive casual dining experience. The Worcester Lunch Car Company distributed many vintage eateries in the first half of the 20th Century, and this is perhaps the ultimate example of what a diner should be. The food isn't exquisite, but it's delicious and comforting. The service isn't over-the-top, but it's warm and friendly. The decor isn't fancy, but it's familiar and nostalgic. There's no bar, but they let you B.Y.O.B. until eleven. It's also open 24 hours. I can't tell you how many times I have come here, whether it was two in the afternoon or three in the morning...heck, I even counted down a New Year inside one of their cozy booths, watching Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve on the tiny T.V. tucked away in the corner, while indulging myself in a chili omelette. It wasn't on the menu, but they made it for me anyhow. It seriously feels like family. I guess it's not the cheapest place for diner food around (close, though), but it's worth it. Great place! Had a classic diner experience here. Fantastic old, original diner car and archetypical staff. Friendly regulars at the counter, including two cops having their dinner. This was like something out of central casting. Almost everyone had a conversation with the women behind the counter and got hugs when they left. I'll start by saying the only reason I am even giving this two stars, and not one, is my long standing relationship with this place. Me and my boyfriend went in for breakfast, and after finding another local breakfast spot that we had been enjoying recently, I insisted he had to try this place because it used to be one of my favorites. We walked in, and were the second table in the place. My boyfriend ordered a coffee and oj, to which his drinks were placed on the counter top and the woman behind the counter said "Here you go." I had to get up and get our drinks.... THAT was a first. You really couldn't come from behind the counter top to serve us our drinks? Seriously? And that wasn't the only time... I also had to get my own drinks, AND our food... Which brings me to the most disappointing aspect of the meal...The food. We got simple eggs, bacon, home fires, and I got a side of french toast. The bacon, under cooked, chewy, and just not what you want in piece of bacon (which I do respect that some people like bacon that way, BUT that usually something people will request). The home fries (which had always been a favorite of mine) we're cold, and a lot of the bigger pieces of potato were undercooked. The french toast, was undercooked and soggy in the middle. I understand that french toast is suppose to have that soft center, but this was just completely undercooked. The toast served with the meal was more like a giant crouton, and just crumbled in our hands when we went to break our bread to dip in the egg yoke. Not to mention, my boyfriends coffee was full of grounds. How do you own a breakfast diner and mess coffee up like that!? Just, a totally disappointing experience all around. My boyfriend was actually pissed that he even had to tip, considering our "waitress" didn't actually do anything to tend to our table except throw our food up on the counter and tell us we were "All set" and made us get our food and drinks ourselves. Unfortunately, considering there is another breakfast place the same distance away from me, I will never be returning here for a meal. "The Bully" is a classic. I know it best as purveyor of world-beating drunk food, but it's great any time. The meatball sandwiches are great, as is the chicken parm. The tuna melt had the potential to be gross, but was supremely delicious (but do keep in mind I was drunk). The chili when they have it is to die for. My vegetarian girlfriend proclaimed the eggplant parm the best she'd ever had. The cooks/servers are blue-collar and rude, just like you'd want them to be. Sports is always on the tiny tv, and both the retired-caboose environs and eclectic dining crowd provide plenty of atmosphere. I love the Bully.
