Whenever I got an issue in front of the right person, they took it seriously and got things moving. The system itself is working great. The one area that really needs improvement is project management. From my perspective it was largely absent--I received essentially no responses from my assigned PM, and even my request for a new one went unanswered. Issues that could have been handled earlier, including a requirement identified before construction, contributed to an inspection failure and months of delay in fully closing out the project. I also had to request a final walkthrough myself, which seems like something project management should have coordinated. What is bizarre is how strong the rest of the team was. Operations in particular did a great job stepping in when things needed attention, and the people actually doing the work and operational oversight were great. It felt like a lot of very capable people were working there and able to get around the project-management function. I'd recommend Photon Brothers. I'm happy with the finished product and everyone that I interacted with were excellent with the exception of the nonexistent project manager. My main suggestion would be to make sure there is clear, responsive project ownership from beginning to end, including a way to hand a project to someone else when that isn't happening.

And, " I can't wait to see everyone on Reddit laugh at you" That response made me question whether customers feel comfortable leaving honest negative reviews after receiving that kind of warning. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I encourage anyone hiring these contractors to have security cameras and to document the condition of their home before and after service. We are now more than a month post-install, and continue to have excellent production that has fully covered our consumption (using net metering via Core Power). This was not a short process, but Southard did handle all of the HOA approvals, city permitting, and utility approvals. Post-deposit, they did have an issue with supply chain, and upgraded my install - at no cost to me - rather than waiting or downgrading my overall capacity. The supply chain issue probably delayed things by a month, so the 4 month process maybe could have taken 3. For reference - we put our deposit down in mid-April, received final approvals in mid-July, started and completed install within the next week, and completed city inspections and utility interconnect by mid-August. I'd recommend working with Southard since many of the timeline items were outside of their control (HOA, city, utility), and they did a great job of executing at a great price.

From a price point, they came out thousands less than the closest competitor, and I'd note the closest competitor wasn't willing to do a transfer of the rebates. Getting a less competitive design through a group-buy program was disappointing. Getting completely ghosted after I questioned it was worse. I wouldn't have confidence moving forward with them.
