I have a medical condition, which I had to have a six-hour surgery to correct my condition. I rather not go into further detail about it. However, I almost lost my vision. Thankfully, I had the surgery just in time. It is very important to take good care of my vision by having yearly check ups, wearing sunglasses, and following instructions. After working three months in my current job, I was finally able to use my insurance to cover the cost of being fitted for glasses and contacts. The doctor was great! She went to Boston University and decided to stay in Boston in order to serve people of the same culture. She was very attentive and did not push me to buy anything. I do have to say that I do feel a bit rushed every time I visit, but the quality of care is amazing. This is why I gave them 4 starts instead of 5.

I didn't feel welcome and should have gone by my gut impression. Still, I scratched it up to perhaps he was having a bad day and went there for new glasses, the first pair I'd have for both far and near-sightedness. Mr. Nicholson's attitude wasn't warm, yet it wasn't so unpleasant as to turn me off, so we continued our exchange, and I bought my glasses from him - a mistake. I went back two days later with questions about my focus and the slanting, and curved images I was experiencing. Mr. Nicholson replied by explaining what he explained when I first tried the glasses - that I had to adjust my vision lower to read with transition lenses. I concurred that it will take some getting used to after never having the experience before. I explained that I'm a seventy-five-year-old man, who needs to get accustomed to wearing them and adjusting my eyes accordingly, and that I had other questions. There was never a simple acknowledgement that there will be a learning curve to getting used to something new. Rather, a younger man (an optician student) stepped forth from the back of the store and explained the cause of some of my concerns and agreeing that it will take time to get used to the new glasses. After thanking the young man for his assistance, Mr. Nicholson again tried to explain what he had already done, that I must focus lower on the written word. I tried to explain that I "got it," that he had explained it more than once and was now talking to me as one might talk to a child, when indeed I had other questions. Mr. Nicholson then talked over me, telling me and others in the store that I wanted to talk and not listen. As I don't argue with people yet felt myself getting angry. I turned to leave, stating that I do not do business with people who yell at me and treat me in a demeaning manner. He continued to berate me further and more loudly and talk about my listening skills. He was even asked by a woman who also came from the rear of the store to calm own. I was leaving, on my way out the door, when he added, he'd rather give me my money back. Oops, what!? As a person of integrity, I understand full well when one doesn't want my business. Such a statement was insulting and obviously one in which he in fact didn't want my business. I'd have been a fool to leave the store with the glasses, so I turned and said that was for the best. Give me my money back, here are your glasses. I stood quiet while he undid the transaction. He reversed the charge to my debit card, and I left without speaking another word. I write because it's important that people know (in spite of some positive reviews) that Mr. Nicholson can be quite rude, insulting, arrogant, and indignant with an air of superiority. I would not have felt good about myself if after such a comment, I continued on my way before indeed, requesting my money back and relinquishing the glasses. I was not rude, never raised my voice and was simply asking normal questions one might have from wearing a new pair of glasses after never having the experience previously. I would not recommend any self-respecting person to do business with Eye & Eye Optics. You might get spoken to as a child and told outright that they don't want your money. Thinking one is always right, not allowing the customer to explain him or herself, and reiterating the same message for an innocent and appropriate question is no way to do business. Avoid this company.

Working with Christos was by far the best experience I have ever had. With other opticians I've found that they tend to just say "yes" to whatever you pick or to base their recommendations solely on style rather than paying attention also to fit and functionality. I inevitably left with glasses that never felt quite right or kept slipping down my face despite paying hundreds of dollars. Christos, on the other hand, is a true expert who knows how eyeglass frames should fit a face for maximum comfort and functionality while still working to find the best-looking frames for you out of his vast selection. After purchase, he is also meticulous about adjusting the frames for your face. Unlike other opticians, he actually has an opinion and can help you figure out how the frames ought to fit. And unlike most of the opticians I've purchased from in the past, he's genuinely skilled at adjusting frames and will really work with you and keep tweaking until the fit is *exactly* right. After my experience at Soma, I refuse to purchases eyeglasses from anywhere else. This is a true gem of a store and I plan to recommend it to anyone who will listen.

But the real star of Soma is the service. I am not exaggerating to say they go so far beyond the call of duty, it's almost unbelievable. Seriously, I am telling the truth. They are great. Highly recommended without reservation!

The sales person was lovely until she heard online order and handed me the sealed box. When I asked to check if prescription was right or to have any adjustments to fit, she said they did not do that with online order. Mind you, I spent hundreds on these glasses and have bought glasses with LensCrafters before. I asked what if prescription is off, they said I could return them online. Only when I continued to ask about policy of not giving any service to online orders did another staff person say they could check. Terrible customer service. When people are trying to limit their time indoors, ordering online makes sense. Saved time for the staff too. So why not take care of the fitting process? I advise going to a shop that actual cares about building long-term customers.

After about six months I started experiencing constant headaches, dizziness, and poor vision. At some point happened to impossible to drive a car and I didn't understand what's wrong with me, i look at one of the contact lens boxes and noticed it said -2.00. I checked the prescription from the office and it also says -2.00. My previous exam in 2024 already showed -2.75. I went to another doctor to recheck my vision and my prescription is now -2.75 I called the office to explain the situation, but they do not acknowledge any mistake and said they cannot help because six months have passed. Timeline: 2024 -- -2.75. October 2025 -- I was told -2.00 by this office. March 2026 -- my prescription is -2.75 again. Something clearly doesn't add up. Very unprofessional experience. All the store telling me that they have customer satisfaction 30 days which has passed. Although it is about my health, it's not like I bought some sweatshirt and I didn't like it. I put my life in dangerous by driving a car and wearing a wrong contact which was provided me by this store. So save your life and look for professional experience somewhere else. Update: After long discussions, the store told me the only solution was to come back for another exam there. I explained that I am currently in another state and asked if I could visit another store in their chain, but they said that was not possible. My options were either to fly back to Boston (and pay for my own flight just to visit their store) or pay for another eye exam myself in the city where I currently am. I ended up paying out of pocket to see another doctor and sent them the new prescription. They agreed to ship replacement contact lenses, but the first shipment was incomplete -- only the daily lenses were sent, while the monthly ones were missing. The package also had an error in my last name and did not include my apartment number. After another call they agreed to send the missing lenses. As for my glasses, I now have to come back to the store to replace the lenses. The issue is that I originally had -2.75 lenses, paid them to replace them with -2.00 based on their prescription, and now they will simply change them back to -2.75. In the end, because of an incorrect prescription, I had to pay for another eye exam and an unnecessary lens replacement, and those costs will not be reimbursed.
