Everyone here is so kind, and they have all the state of the art equipment. Gamma high is dilated without even getting any drops in them there's a machine that takes them now. I had an eye exam at this office on Newbury Street on October 13, 2025. I ordered a supply of contact lenses and also replaced the lenses in my glasses based on the prescription they gave me. After about six months I started experiencing constant headaches, dizziness, and poor vision. At some point happened to impossible to drive a car and I didn't understand what's wrong with me, i look at one of the contact lens boxes and noticed it said -2.00. I checked the prescription from the office and it also says -2.00. My previous exam in 2024 already showed -2.75. I went to another doctor to recheck my vision and my prescription is now -2.75 I called the office to explain the situation, but they do not acknowledge any mistake and said they cannot help because six months have passed. Timeline: 2024 -- -2.75. October 2025 -- I was told -2.00 by this office. March 2026 -- my prescription is -2.75 again. Something clearly doesn't add up. Very unprofessional experience. All the store telling me that they have customer satisfaction 30 days which has passed. Although it is about my health, it's not like I bought some sweatshirt and I didn't like it. I put my life in dangerous by driving a car and wearing a wrong contact which was provided me by this store. So save your life and look for professional experience somewhere else. Update: After long discussions, the store told me the only solution was to come back for another exam there. I explained that I am currently in another state and asked if I could visit another store in their chain, but they said that was not possible. My options were either to fly back to Boston (and pay for my own flight just to visit their store) or pay for another eye exam myself in the city where I currently am. I ended up paying out of pocket to see another doctor and sent them the new prescription. They agreed to ship replacement contact lenses, but the first shipment was incomplete -- only the daily lenses were sent, while the monthly ones were missing. The package also had an error in my last name and did not include my apartment number. After another call they agreed to send the missing lenses. As for my glasses, I now have to come back to the store to replace the lenses. The issue is that I originally had -2.75 lenses, paid them to replace them with -2.00 based on their prescription, and now they will simply change them back to -2.75. In the end, because of an incorrect prescription, I had to pay for another eye exam and an unnecessary lens replacement, and those costs will not be reimbursed. read more

My eyeglass frame (which I didn't get from this store) was very warped and I was afraid it was irreparable, but MaKayla was able to fix it very quickly, and it is almost back to the original shape. I've gotten refractions, lenses and frames here (Brookline, corner of Beacon and Harvard) before, and I've been pleased with the service, so I thought I'd take advantage of the Memorial Day sale. I went in Saturday, but it was busy; one of the employees told me I could come back Monday for a refraction, and that the sale would run through Monday. I should mention that my eyes suck, so I get super expensive lenses and contacts, both of which I need. I just went in today, Monday. When I told the woman doing reception that I needed a refraction, she looked confused, so I explained that I needed someone to measure my eyes and give me a prescription for new glasses and contacts. She asked me my name and phone number, which she wrote down on a piece of paper (like I said, I've been there before, so she could have looked me up on the computer at her elbow, so this seemed odd), and told me someone would call me when they could find time for me. I said an employee had told me to come back Monday for a refraction and glasses order under the sale, which would still be going on. She told me that while they were technically OPEN, the docs who do the refractions were off for the day. Ha! Joke on me! No, she didn't say that. Just tried to tell me it was a misunderstanding. Oh, well, I'll be going to another optician. I'm sure they can get a new customer to replace me. That's easier than keeping an old one, right? read more

Kate and the man working on 12/7 which I think might have been her boss? Were terrible. There was essentially no customer service. Yes I was greeted but that's about as far as that went. There are sooooo many options here to look at & I was looking for my first pair of glasses So I was going to be a while... neither of these employees tried to help me make the process any easier. And by the way! I did let her know from the very beginning that I was there to buy my first pair of glasses. I also felt as though me and my boyfriend were being profiled due to the way we were dressed. It felt like they were constantly checking to see which glasses we had taken. It was an uncomfortable experience and I felt lost. They were more concerned with the glasses they didn't think to even remotely try to help me. I ended up leaving to go to Warby Parker and I was given white glove service & left with my first pair of glasses. I visited the doctor's office, and they ordered contact lenses for me to try one month ago. They said that "we will call you within two weeks". It has been a month and nobody called me from the office. When I called them back, they said there is a line and you have to wait 10 minutes in the line. Why do I have to wait 10 minutes in line? You take my number and call me back when you are available. I'm not going there anymore. TIME and money consuming, also bad customer service. The last issue, they put the wrong home address on their system, that's why I could not received my credit card and could not make a payment. I had to call synchrony to claim a file that i did not received my card and they sent me the new one. Time and Money consuming. read more

Terrible customer service. I came in on Friday with my boyfriend, I had just gotten my eye exam at a LensCrafters but a different location on Thursday (the day before), however I didn't have time to look at glasses that day. On Friday, we were shopping on Newbury and saw LensCrafters. I needed 2 pairs (one for home, and one to go out with), and my boyfriend needed a pair as well. When we entered, the lady did not seem to enthusiastic to be having us. Whatever it's been a long week and extremely hot out. The lady flat out asked me "ARE YOU JUST LOOKING OR WILLING TO BUY" are you serious?! I told her that I need glasses but I would like to take a look first. She then asked about my prescription, and I told her what I said above. She then makes it a big deal that in order to get my prescription she has to call them and have them fax it over etc. *i haven't gotten my eyes checked since 2-3 years ago, and I naturally thought since I got my eye exam at LensCrafters, that they would have my prescription in the system. Sorry I did not know that. The lady then goes back and forth and lectures me about how if I were to touch a pair that they'd have to take it off the floor for 6 ours to disinfect. I understand with COVID things are done differently. She could have said, "Due to COVID please only touch what you're interested in because we have to sanitize them in a long process" or something along those lines. BUT GET THIS, when I've finally had enough of being treated as though I cannot afford to buy on the spot, and said "It's okay, I will go back to the other location and buy it there instead to make it easier" this lady flipped quicker than anything you've seen before. Now she is willing to call and get the fax and saying "it's okay! It's not a big deal! I can just call them!" It's not about the money, it's about this lady's attitude. The optometrist said its like that but the threads/fiber holding the glasses was sticking out, they didnt even attempt to trim it down. STAY AWAY!!I I brought my irreplaceable and extremely expensive eyeglass frames here and talked to the store manager and optician Stephen about having the lenses cut on-site. I was very explicit that I did not want to risk having my frames shipped offsite (which I could do myself for 1/3 the cost, duh). No problem, they have an on-site lab and the glasses would be ready "in about a week." I called week after week asking for an update. "Oh, there's a delay in the lenses." Finally I stopped by FIVE WEEKS later and asked about my glasses. "Oh there's a delay in the lenses yada yada." I then said well OK let's just cancel my order now and return my frames please. "Well... actually... they are in Texas..." HUH??? I specifically chose this location for its on-site lab. I called in advance to confirm they have an on-site lab! I met with the manager! I said please please please treat these frames with special care and whatever you do don't ship them offsite! In any case it has been EIGHT WEEKS, no eyeglasses, no word from the shop or the managers or anyone at LensCrafters/Luxottica about my eyeglasses. I have initiated legal action for consumer fraud pursuant to Chapter 93a Section 9 of the MGL. Turns out the secret factory in Texas that LensCrafters outsources its "lens craft" to isn't even owned/operated by LensCrafters/Luxottica and they have zero quality control over the factory. Honestly if you see frames you like here, buy them online, and have the lenses cut via eyeglasses.com or whatever and save yourself some time and money and aggravation. UPDATE: initiating legal action worked. Luxottica tried to settle with me and I said NO -- find my glasses. They did, albeit ten weeks later. Anyway, if you want lenses cut on-site try The Eye Store in Brookline. Much cheaper than LensCrafters and they do great work, and quickly. read more

Wow ....the definition of complete incompetence. I walked in with a pair of glasses $800 custom frames where a screw had fallen out I asked if they had a replacement... they said sure .... I watched as they attempted to insert a screw that was clearly too large - I pointed that out and asked if the threading pattern was correct - they insisted it was fine. It was not - THEY STRIPPED THE HOLE. So nothing will fit -THEY TOTALLY RUINED MY GLASSES.... The level of terrible customer service (or lack thereof) I receive at this store keeps sinking to a new low every time I go in -- which is only out of location convenience and usually to just get my glasses tightened. The past two times, however, I actually needed something and was looking to buy. I just spent the past 20 minutes wandering around, trying on different pairs of glasses, walking back and forth across the store. The only time someone spoke to me was when I first walked in and they asked me what I was looking for. I said, "prescription sunglasses." And they just pointed to where those were. That's it. Plenty of people were standing around and no one engaged with me or was even approachable for me to ask for help. Glasses are such an important thing and beyond expensive; how they look matters. The time before, I called to ask whether they could order a replacement part for my glasses since they broke (I had the brand and model number) and the person who picked up the phone (who happened to be a manager) wouldn't answer me. I had been to a few optical shops about fixing them and they--including another LensCrafters location--told me what was wrong and what part I needed. I was just asking if they could order repair parts. The manager couldn't have been more rude or dismissive if she tried. I found out she was a a manger because I went to the store like she told me I had to, only to have her tell me they don't order parts at all. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Yes, I saw you were all busy with customers and no one was standing around doing nothing, but how long does it take to indicate "I see you and will be with you when I'm done?" I am so surprised to see such negative reviews for this LensCrafters store! I chose it because it is conveniently near my work and I will continue to give them my business because so far I've had nothing but great experiences. My first experience at the store was exceptional. I had an eye exam with Doctor Sun, so when I told the reception downstairs they had an associate walk me to the optometrist waiting and reception area and introduced me to the receptionist. Everything They were very organized, giving me two copies of receipts, prescriptions, and insurance benefit details. Once I had my prescription, I was escorted back downstairs to an associate who would assist me in picking out the perfect pair of frames. I was given honest feedback about which frames best suited my coloring and my face shape, and pretty quickly I had narrowed it down to a favorite pair. Additionally, they measured my face to ensure that the frames allowed me optimum range of vision. I have progressive lenses (like bifocals without the line) so I assumed that it would take quite some time for the lenses to be done, but they were ready in only an hour. I was also very happy with my contact lenses experience. Dr. Sun offered me some samples of a few different lenses until I found the ones I like. I had check-ins scheduled to touch base about them, which I was not charged for. Great place! read more

I've been to some good Lenscrafters locations before, but my experiences with the one near Copley in Boston have not been memorable. Sure, they were happy to help when I was shopping for a new pair of glasses, but since then, each and every time I've gone in for adjustment in the past two years, I've been ignored and/or just treated very rudely. And even when they have finally come around to adjusting my glasses, it is usually rather poorly done, thus I've had to come in time after time. I'd suggest that you try another Lenscrafters store nstead, or another eyeglasses store. I'm certainly going to consider that next time I need a new pair. read more

I could not be more disappointed with the folks here. I have ordered contact lenses here two times, each with very negative results. The first time, they didn't apply my vision insurance correctly, short changing me out of over $70 by only applying my insurance to one box of contacts instead of both. They also didn't call me to tell me my lenses had arrived. The second time, I also didn't get a call letting me know that my lenses were in so I stopped by the store over a month after I placed the order. After a very confusing conversation with the customer service associate, I found out that the order that I paid for had never been placed and that they didn't have any boxes of lenses in the store that fit my prescription. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is that of times they screwed up, they have tried to make it up the next time, by giving me 50 off my order and then rush-shipping the order they forgot to place. Despite that, I am done ordering lenses here. I'd rather a place that doesn't screw up in the first place. read more

A little advice.. don't tell your optometrist you thought that the 5 second rule could apply to contacts that have fallen on Boston sidewalks that probably still have remnants of Red Coat blood. Just saying. I don't know. I'm always uncomfortable in doctor's offices so I make awkward jokes... like telling a physician you ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's to "make the pain go away".. can land you a prescription to a psychologist. I digress. Dr. Jeff at Lenscrafters was incredibly nice. He didn't use any highfalutin terms in explaining my eye problems and he was very personable. He also let me try out a contacts for a few weeks without the pressure to buy from them. OH.. and if you have long eyelashes.. be prepared to have them taped back (think Calvin and Hobbes nose) when they do that little x-ray-ish type thing to your eye. Or maybe they just did that to me. As far as glasses go.. I stopped getting them here once I discovered the amazing world of Price Club (AKA Costco). Although the optometrist's secretary was very nice I didn't directly deal with any salespeople. read more

If you need a new pair of glasses, avoid this place at all costs. This is long story, so buckle in... I got a new prescription for progressive lenses. I've had them before and they haven't worked very well, but the salespeople here convinced me to try again, and that I could get bifocals made if I didn't adjust. I kept coming in to get the frames re-adjusted with because my eyes weren't adjusting to them. I was consistently told that my eyes were just taking a little longer to adjust and to continue to give it a chance. It was six weeks later when I finally said I can't do it, they're not working, and I want my bifocals back. You'd think it would be fine and I could get a replacement pair made for free, like they promised upfront, right? You'd be wrong. I had to pay for a new pair of lenses because the salespeople kept pushing me to give the progressives more time. There's only free replacement within 4 weeks of buying the lenses. At that point I was stuck between a rock and a hard place because I was getting migraines with the progressives so I begrudgingly paid for a new pair. This was 4 weeks before I was taking one of the most important exams of my life, and was assured it would only take 7-10 days to get the lenses in. I got a call 2 weeks later and they were finally done. I got there, they checked out the lenses, and immediately knew they were wrong. The bifocal was so high in the lenses that I couldn't see out of the distance portion of my lenses. So they sent them back to the lab to redo on rush. 7 days later, I get a phone call saying they're ready (apparently rush only means low end of regular speed?). Recall it had been 3 weeks, and I needed my glasses 1 week later. I go out of my way to pick them up, and when I get there, apparently the technician who cut the lenses chipped mine when they were cutting them. I didn't get a phone call telling me there had been a mistake. I got there - having left work early to pick them up - and was told that they were damaged and I'd have to wait ANOTHER 7 days (yes, I missed the deadline for the exam). I asked for literally any kind of discount - you'd think after the ordeal I went through, including buying a new pair of lenses that insurance didn't cover after being promised I could get a replacement would merit something. I got a $10 off a $120 purchase coupon. To add insult to injury, when I needed to replace the lenses a few months later, I was told by someone who knew what he was doing that the lenses weren't even cut correctly. The bifocals were at different heights and crooked. Save your time, money, and aggravation. Go somewhere else. read more

Much better! Not only was I greeted the instant I walked in, but I was also given a tray to put the glasses I was interested in so I could stand and compare them! The selection was pretty good. A lot of higher end brands as well as some that were more affordable, and they were all broken down by style. To my surprise and delight, this store seems to specialize in Ray Bans! Maybe its because Wayfarers are so "in" right now, but I appreciate being able to look through the whole collection in one spot. I'm a big fan of Ray Bans for their quality and affordability. They actually aren't that expensive when you compare them to the high end designer frames, plus I like buying glasses and sunglasses from a company that specializes in eye-ware. The man who helped me was not the slightest bit pushy, but gave his opinion and helped me pick out a great pair of Wayfarer style Ray Bans. Bold, geek chick! What can I say, I have a face for classic yet funky frames. He helped me compare the different lens options, and unfortunately because my prescription is so high my lenses were not ready in an hour. I was told that they would take about a week and half, but they would do everything they could to get them in faster. Lo and behold they were ready in only a week! Now a different guy fitted the frames to my face using that little heat thing on the desk, very carefully making sure they fit correctly. This is actually in stark contrast to my experience at a location closer to my apartment where I had to call the guy back after he tried rushing me out, that the frames were too low on my my nose and I couldn't see out of them! Not here, he did a great job! Also, he fitted my non-prescription Wayfarer sunglasses that I hadn't even bought there, and told me to come back any time if I needed either frames adjusted. Will do! I'll definitely come back to this location in the future. Note: In contrast to another review for here I saw signs EVERYWHERE letting customers know about the AAA discount. Also, know your insurance, Harvard Pilgrim customers get 35% off. read more

Great customer service. I ordered a new set of lens for my favorite glasses. As promised, they were ready in just a couple hours. Unfortunately, my old glasses broke when they were snapping the new lenses in. Kind of a bummer, but these things happen. And LensCrafters went above and beyond to fix the problem - they had a loaner pair of glasses ready to go when I arrived, and stayed open late to let me choose a new pair of replacement glasses, free of charge. This review is for the optical shop (LensCrafters). The doctor's office is fine, nothing special. The customer service at this location is excellent. I've mostly worked with Williams, but everyone is competent and patient. They let me take a long time to pick out frames and really worked to make sure the glasses and the price worked for me. I had to go in for several adjustments in the first week, and they tried different things to make sure the glasses were comfortable. I was in the store to get my frames tightened last week and I was also so impressed when I saw Williams and Naome handle a very difficult and mildly threatening customer with SO much patience and grace. They didn't get flustered and the customer actually left wishing them a nice day. Definitely worth your business. read more

LensCrafters has good prices and a lot of good options. All the associates at this location are helpful when it comes to picking out glasses. I came here on Sunday to get a new pair of prescription sunglasses (5 years over due) and had many options to choose from. I ended up with a very fun pair of Burberry sunglasses and with my prescription and insurance they came to around 300 dollars. The associate who helped me quoted me for a price that included protection for a year and then told me he'd give me the protection at no extra cost - didn't realize until I looked at my itemized receipt. I didn't make a huge fuss about it because I probably would have bought it anyways but I thought it was very sleazy and of poor taste. So, this past May I was due for an eye exam. It had been 2 years since my last one, and my glasses were pretty beat up anyway. I had been using Lenscrafters in Maryland for years so I naturally went looking for one here in Boston. This one is in a great location. I was able to schedule my appointment online. The exam went very smoothly and the staff was great. They were also able to use my old frames and just put the new lenses in! Downside? Even using my old frames and having AAA discount it was like 300 for the exam and lenses. I get featherweight transition lenses. read more

There was one optician that was really patient and the rest of the staff just don't seem to care. I didn't get any suggestions for my exchange and I just wrapped up quickly and left. Great service here! Maria helped me and the lady pick out a sweet pair of frames. My glasses finally broke after 14 years of loyal service. Some loved them, some hated them. It was like in Uncle Buck when he says to the kids, "you know, a lotta people despise this hat. I'll tell you a story about that on the way over." Saved a good $250-$300 total on frames and lenses together considering what I would have paid at my eye doctor's. She even did the math to see which would save me more - their current promo of 50% off lenses or the AAA Member discount of 30% off the whole shebang. AAA won out, so if you're a member, take note. If eyeglasses were a commodity good, Lenscrafters would be king. As would befit an international conglomerate, frame and lens selection were excellent. Staffers, however, seemed to operate from a paint-by-numbers approach. The fancy-pants frame/lens fitting software? Probably designed to mask the inexperience of its associates. Word to the wise - the glasses-in-an-hour guarantee only applies to run-of-the-mill consumers. On the other hand, I had the pleasure of waiting two weeks for my high-index lenses to shipped in. And the further pleasure of noticing my new hipster frames on no less than four other people at my place of business. So much for originality, save for my myopia! Regarding pricing, wait until they offer the annual 50% off frames and lenses promotion. Purchasing glasses at any other time is an unnecessary hit to the pocketbook. read more

I normally don't do Yelp reviews unless things are either really good of terrible. In this case I am very happy to report it is the former. I recently got my eye exam done at the LensCrafters location on Newbury street, and subsequently purchased a pair of Versace progressive glasses from the display shelf. After taking it home I found that the frame had a scratch on it. Long story short, the staff there were super helpful in finding me a replacement - especially a nice associate by the name Khan, who was extremely patient and took great care to ensure that I was 100% satisfied before walking out the door, and indeed I was. I walked in and was escorted around by a very nice lady who showed me which all the best glasses for me were, and then when the doctor was ready to give me the eye exam, another very nice lady pulled me into the office. Dr. Norden gave me a very quick and diligent eye exam and then sent me back out into the store. They brought me all of my information while i was browsing. All the staff is very friendly and helpful, but they just can't seem to get a lens order correct. I've now gone back 3X and need to make a 4th trip... I don't know if they just don't listen in this store or the location that makes the lenses does what they want, not what you want. This trip I'm going back to get my money back! read more
