Ordered the New York style hot pastrami on rye with coleslaw and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. The pastrami was the highlight. Piled high, tender, and full of that classic deli flavor with just the right amount of richness. The rye bread held everything together well and had a nice bite to it. It's the kind of sandwich you have to take a second to look at before figuring out how to eat it. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, a good balance to the sandwich, and the cream soda was cold and refreshing. Also ordered a slice of pistachio cake to go. Absolutely delicious. The place has that old school deli feel, busy but in a good way, and full of character. Service was friendly and efficient even with the crowd. Definitely a spot worth stopping at if you're in Palm Desert and want a proper deli sandwich.

Service was excellent. Seated immediately and ordering minutes later. Got extra cream cheese on request and our coffees were diligently refilled. The main attraction was the pastrami sandwich. Totally to my wife's taste, extremely lean and stacked high. She had to take half home. I tried an omelette with corned beef and loved it. The everything bagel was perfectly acceptable, not too "bready." So: service good, pastrami good, and bagel good. Everything good about a deli is covered.

Why is no one talking about this place?!!!…read more I can say this place is one of those rare finds you measure other meals against afterward. I stumbled on The French Corner while driving cross‑country, expecting another forgettable meal- and instead walked into what felt like an old‑world kitchen with a dash of current period wrapped in quiet romance. The room has a warmth and charm that you just don't see anymore: soft, unpretentious, intimate, like being welcomed into someone's home rather than processed through another restaurant. In a country where corporate dining has made every exit start to look the same, this felt almost unreal, like I'd slipped into a little pocket of time that somehow survived. We came in the morning and started with pastries, and that's when I realized this wasn't an ordinary stop. The pastries were next‑level: delicate, rich, clearly made with quality ingredients and real care. You taste butter, you taste texture, you taste intention. It was one of those moments where you look across the table and both of you know--you've found something special. We were so impressed that we didn't just talk about coming back; we had to come back that same day for dinner, which they've only recently started serving again since covid, and it felt like being let in on a secret. The food carried that same homemade soul the pastries promised--deep flavor, thoughtful seasoning, nothing rushed, nothing generic, fresh vegetables etc It was the kind of meal where conversation lingers, bites are shared, and you suddenly realize hours have slipped by without you noticing. There's an intimacy here that no chain restaurant can manufacture. As someone who's spent years chasing good food from the road, I can say places like this are heartbreakingly rare--far and few between, and fragile in the best way. I already know I'll be pining to return, measuring future road trips against the hope that I can swing by again. If you're anywhere within reach, don't wait or assume it'll always be there. Go now, sit down, and experience it while you still can.

I was accompanied by a chef who has owned and dined at the world's finest establishments. His verdict-rare and deeply considered-was unequivocal: superb ingredient quality, flawless execution, all delivered at a remarkably fair price. The warm, enveloping atmosphere, almost familial in its intimacy, completes an experience of rare harmony between culinary excellence and unpretentious elegance. A must-visit. Unreservedly recommended. Georges and Lisa
