Always love to visit local businesses when we are visiting! This is a great way to give back to the community and promote small businesses! We found Swiss Donuts which is a small donut shop on the way leaving Cathedral City. Just like your typical donut places, they have donuts, croissant, and other bakery items. We had their ham, egg, and cheese croissant, which was delicious! We didn't know the croissant was so big that we could just share one. The egg was cooked nicely with toasted croissant making it nice and warm breakfast. The donut holes was great too! Really enjoyed their food here.

this place seemed nice. The breakfast sandwiches were expensive. I got halfway through and realized there's mold on the bagel.

Ordered the New York style hot pastrami on rye with coleslaw and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. The pastrami was the highlight. Piled high, tender, and full of that classic deli flavor with just the right amount of richness. The rye bread held everything together well and had a nice bite to it. It's the kind of sandwich you have to take a second to look at before figuring out how to eat it. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, a good balance to the sandwich, and the cream soda was cold and refreshing. Also ordered a slice of pistachio cake to go. Absolutely delicious. The place has that old school deli feel, busy but in a good way, and full of character. Service was friendly and efficient even with the crowd. Definitely a spot worth stopping at if you're in Palm Desert and want a proper deli sandwich.

Hostess and waitress were both professional and friendly. Our husbands ordered the pastrami, one in the and the other on a Kaiser roll. I split a turkey Sammy with my friend and we also split a root bear float. The pastrami was very tender and tasty and not at all too salty. Rye bread was good but too much bread with the Kaiser roll. Turkey sandwich was very dry and nothing to wow about. They served us pickles at the beginning of the meal which was good. Got a piece of chocolate cake to go as well as their rice pudding. Great experience but sandwiches are not worth the price.

For my extended family out here in the outsize long-jump pit of Palm Desert, Sweet Basil has become…read morea go-to location for celebratory meals of late. Unlike so many other parts of trips out here - the oppressive heat, dodging careening buggies driven by seemingly lost and possibly inebriated golfers, and the discovery of sand in eyes / nose / shoes / liver - it's a tradition that sits very well with me. I'd even go as far as saying that the food here makes all of the above worthwhile. The restaurant has a car park to the rear and limited street parking in front. The interior has a lovely ambiance, quietly refined by subtle lighting and a gentle arboreal theme. I've seen it busy and our party has also had the place to ourselves on late visits, but I'd definitely recommend a reservation just in case especially with a larger party. The staff provide attentive and genuinely caring service, and the portion sizes are substantial and easily justify the more-than-reasonable cost. The food itself though is the reason this place is always a highlight reel spot for me. Every dish is a feast for the eyes as well as the palette, beautifully presented and packed with flavor. My personal go-to is the perfectly seasoned and healthy Harvest Salad, usually with an added protein (the blackened chicken adds a real flavor kick and the variety in texture that I love in great food). Fortunately my partner happily defaults to the opulent and delightful Lobster Lasagna, as I'd be loath to miss out on a bite or three of that too. Appetizer-wise, I'm yet to regret any soup-of-the-day choice. The Zucchini last night was... well... yep, perfect is no overstatement. Sweet Basil is an absolute gem, and a must-visit for any visitor here. The only even remotely negative things I can think to mention is to be aware of the rather early closing time for at least part of the year.

We had the Grilled Portabello Mushroom topped with melted Gruyère, roasted tomatoes, garlic aioli. Very yummy that melted on top. The Chicken Curry with cashews, dried cranberries, garlic aioli was delicious as well! The naanwiches came with orzo pasta salad which I really enjoyed. The restaurant was pretty nice and comforting. The service was pleasant and attentive.

The breakfast was good. We have Titanium status with Marriott hence we get the continental breakfast for free but we always paid the $10 extra to upgrade to the full breakfast with hot items. The options are somewhat limited but sufficient for anyone even if you are picky. We stayed there for 10 days to relax and over that 10 day period we have only seen two breakfast items change. The pancake was changed to waffle for 1 day and there was another item but I couldn't remember what it was. Overall the food quality was good though variety was limited. I wish they could have change things a little. The service was fantastic and we absolutely LOVED our interactions with every one of the staff working there, from the reception staff members to their service members. We stayed there for 10 days and had breakfast there everyday, their staff quickly remembered our preferences and would lead us to our usual spot without asking. A few staff members really stood out. Lisa from reception, Lucy and Corinna from the restaurant service team. They remembered our preferences. They would also go beyond what I would normally expect and offer additional help, often without us asking. The dinner was good too. We had bacon wrapped dates and it was absolutely delicious. Overall we really enjoyed our breakfast and diner experience here.

It did take a while for us to get our food once it was ordered, but in all fairness I was happy they seated us to begin with, as I believe they were closing in about an hour, something I didn't realize when we walked in. I ordered the BLTA and it was HUGE! The avocado and aoli used in the sandwich were so good. The bacon was crispy. The fries are those big crunchy steak fries and they were tasty! Additionally, it is a pretty nice view of the pool from there which makes for a great atmosphere and feels like you're on vacation when you're there for work.
