Christmas Brunch this year was not good. We gave it a D We take the family every Christmas. This time the service was horrible. They now charge $20 if you would like champagne. That was very disappointing. The 18% gratuity was added on every check. It didn't matter if it was a party of 2 or larger. This explains the poor service. We had to ask other members to get us more refills for our drinks. No pre bussing etc. The food was the same and nothing was different from last year. The set up was the same. The piano player was not in the best location. It was by the hostess area which didn't make sense. We have decided to go elsewhere next year. Our bill was close to $900.00 which is ridiculous. Party of 5. The ground are very festive with families and friends. Anything goes as far as dressed casually to Pajamas. Some people dress up. Got to the resort late last night, about 45 min after reservation and just before closing, we were greeted delightfully by and prompt seated. I even asked if it was okay and they agreed to seat us! Our server Elena was amazing!!! She was so nice, friendly and took great care of us. She had excellent recommendations for food and dessert and drinks and was super attentive the entire time we were seated. The food came out fairly quick for the kids and then us, drinks too! I got the spicy cucumber margarita and it was one of the best I've had! The restaurant itself is very nice looking, nestled at the water with the swans swimming around! Which was disappointing because I would've loved to have some seafood! Instead of the dinner buffet they offered a sad breakfast selection. $40 a person is ridiculous for what they served. Rockwood is a good vegan option if you stay at the Marriott. We've been staying at the hotel for many years and we always have dinner here at least one time. The menu includes at least one vegan entree that differs by season and it's usually great. The inside of the restaurant looks very luxurious and the lakeside terrace is amazing if you can find a spot or make a reservation ahead of time. My recommendation would be to make sure there's enough staff during busy nights and that they are all properly trained as to what vegan and vegetarian means. read more

Meh. It's New Years Day so they are very busy. We approached the hostess and she just seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. She never came close to cracking a smile. We watched her go back and fourth seating others looking miserable the entire time. It was raining so we weren't able to eat outside. We got to our table and we both noticed that the chairs were filthy. They were actually pretty gross. They need to get new chairs! The waiter was very pleasant. He took our order but it took a while to get our food. Again, they were very busy so not going to knock any points off. All the wait staff were working very hard. The food was just ok. I had a wonderful experience last night eating at Rockwood Grill. I am a foodie and go to many restaurants. It started with a great cocktail to be followed with the most spectacular Calamari and then the Tomahawk Porkchop. The food was absolutely superb. But what stood out beyond compare was our waitress. In all my 70 years I have never had such impeccable service as I did with Elena. She made our dining experience just that much more. She was quick, friendly, and simply put "went above and beyond" it is so wonderful to see such great attentive service in today's world. She made our meal that much better. Gotta say outdoor / lagoon area needs all new chairs , cushions old and bird droppings everywhere ! All filthy and worn. Bryan was our server. We went to this place for breakfast. It was good. Can't do much with Avocado toast but they did. It was served with picked onions which gave it a great taste. However a poached egg was missing. We tried this restaurant 3 times during our stay at the JW Marriott. Two experiences were for breakfast and one for dinner. I'll start by saying it's very overpriced, but everything at this hotel was. Food- breakfast buffet ($40) was good, lots of items, not spectacular though. 7/10. Kids under 3 get food from the buffet for free, which is much appreciated! Avocado toast with smoked salmon added- my husband absolutely loved this and ordered it twice it was so good. 10/10. Huevos Rancheros- yummy and the perfect size dish. I enjoyed the large pieces of chorizo, the beans and crunchy tostadas. 8/10. Breakfast sandwich- this was really great. Soft bread, cheesy, hammy, mustardy. The breakfast potatoes it came with were pretty lame. 8/10. Half rotisserie chicken- meh. Wouldn't order this again. There was really nothing I was interested in on the dinner menu and everything was just so overpriced, so I thought this was the best looking item. I liked the mashed potatoes that it came with. 6/10. Calamari appetizer- this was really good. We liked how it also had fried artichoke hearts and olives. The sauce was also nice. 7/10. Came the the resort for 4 days to celebrate our wedding anniversary and honestly we ate most of our meals at Rockwood Grill. We had the buffet breakfast every morning which was great, but what really took our breath away were the views at night sitting outside. We even came once to sit at the bar to watch the Cowboys & Giants game and ordered from their Happy Hour while we waited for our room to be ready. Every server we had was just absolutely top notch and would love to thank all of them for treating us so well. Our last night here we ate at the best table outside which was right next to the water. Our server ended up giving up complimentary champagne since it was our anniversary and that was the perfect touch to end our vacation here! After dinner, we ordered a bottle of Meomi's Pinot Noir and sat by the fire pits as we talked about what an amazing trip we had under the stars. We loved it here! read more

She did things I never thought about, but made a difference: our food was brought out by someone else, but Elena personally came out to serve us the food, she voluntarily suggested to take our pictures after our meal, she brought out a complimentary cake for us (even though we didn't tell her we were celebrating anything) and she took a genuine interest in us and our dining experience. We ordered the tuna tartare and crispy calamari for our appetizers then had 2 grilled salmon, and scallops for our main for our group of 4 shared as family style and it was plenty! We even had leftovers that went to waste! Over all food was great! The service was amazing. Our water was very professional and very friendly and went above and beyond! He even made sure our 2 friends who were celebrating their birthdays had cakes for their celebration! Ambiance is nice and definitely the service, impeccable! Will definitely go back there again! After many years of eating at Rockwood Grill, we were very disappointed. They have changed their menu at the fire pits to a bar menu. Service was confused and inept. The ribeye was mediocre at best and if blind tested one would assume it was grocery quality without much flavor cooked without sizzle. read more

This is maybe my 5th or 6th time eating at Rockwood Grill (inside the JW), and I really do love it each time. Being a Tuesday night, they offered a 3 course price fixed menu that was an excellent value. It's offered M-Th I believe, for $48 per person. I had the Caesar salad, full portion, great salad, a farmer's salad, ahi poke bowl or soup were the other options... then I had the large and delicious half rotisserie chicken over mashed potatoes. It was outstanding. Really spectacular flavor, tender, and the mashed potatoes were scrumptious. It was supposed to be served with English peas, but because they were out of them, they offered me grilled broccolini instead. Other entree items offered on the fixed menu were a mushroom pasta or a barramundi fish. And dessert was included as well. I left so full from my meal, I asked for my dessert to go, I plan to eat in later when I've walked off some of this dinner and found room for dessert. I must end my review by calling out my wonderful server, Isidro P., he was so kind, friendly and attentive. Very helpful suggestions and anticipating my every need. I have actually had him as a server once before, last year sometime, and I remember thinking he was fantastic then as well. The views were gorgeous, and I left absolutely stuffed for a great value. We were a party of 6 (4 adults/2 kids). 2 of us ordered off of the 3-course menu, which was phenomenal. The best part of the meal was the attentiveness of the wait staff, led by our head waiter, Lance. From the moment we were seated Lance was there answering our questions about the food; making suggestions and recommendations both for the adults and the children.
