It's a rainy day. I'm on my way to urgent care and the roads have been difficult. Maybe I could…read morehave found a closer urgent care, but I do like the Kaiser facility in Moreno Valley and it puts me close to this Middle Eastern market. I've got to see the doctor because my eye makes me look like a gargoyle and the itching makes me feel like a cranky gargoyle. My appointment is in a couple hours so I head over to Day Street Market. I've got my basket filled with Persian cookies, Lebanese yogurt, saffron, couscous, ghee, spices and pita bread. I'd love to buy some lamb and beef but I'm avoiding buying them until I trust the government. The man at the counter speaks with me about my fears and assures me his halal meet is 100% beef and lamb. I believe him, but I'll wait just a little longer and then I'll be back. Now, off to urgent care and off with my sunglasses. I could barely see anything in the market with my sunglasses on and they probably thought I was pretending to be someone famous. I'll be back for the meat when I don't look like a famous gargoyle.

Each time I visit I always find something else! From pickled veggies to prayer mats to boycott friendly sodas---and the infamous Dubai chocolate! I also found one of my red kuffiyehs here too, patiently waiting for a restock. The ambiance can be quiet, however it's nice to not feel so overstimulated the way I do in other grocery stores. jazakAllah kahir:- )

Day Street Market - The only store where I could find these energy drinks. They are so good. The customer service is great.

Seen this place because of the big sign on the sidewalk on my way to work. Finally had a chance to…read morestop in... Apparently everything is from local small farms around San Diego and possibly a few things owner made. A lot of items didn't have pricing which for me prevented me from buying more but I actually just went shopping elsewhere before stopping in so I would've bought more. The fruit and veggies are not all nice and shinny like at the grocery stores, these items look to be straight from a farm imo. Don't expect to find everything in perfect shape or that you don't have to look through the fruits or veggies and if you know, you know! Their items were a bit high but it's worth it when it comes to our struggling farmers!!! I'll buy more from them from here & out.

They consistently carry some of the best-quality produce currently available from San Diego and the surrounding areas, thoughtfully curated with real care. Misses are rare, and when something isn't right, they always make it right. What really sets this place apart is the knowledgeable team. They can tell you not just what something is, but where it's from, why it's special, and even how best to prepare it if it's new to you. They know which watermelon varietals are sweetest (and why), which tomatoes are best for different uses, and how to guide you toward the best choice of the day. We also appreciate the simplicity of the space. It's clear the focus is on quality produce rather than unnecessary overhead or décor that doesn't add to flavor or nutrition. We come in knowing our weekly staples, and we always look forward to discovering a surprise treat or seasonal treasure to add to the basket. We recently lived in Spain for a year and deeply miss the fruterías found on every corner, places that genuinely support daily health and well-being. In the U.S., truly good produce can be harder to find, with so much emphasis on mass production and appearance over flavor and nutrition. The Fruit Stand comes as close as we've found to that European produce experience. We're grateful this place exists and grateful for the care they put into what they offer. Thank you for being here--and we'll see you next week.
