After some very thorough research on conch fritters and fish sandwiches, my hubby and I decided to eat at BO's during our one day stop in Key West. BO's did not disappoint! I had high expectations going in because I'd read so many good things, and my expectations were largely met. We got there early on a Friday so we didn't encounter any crowds or lines. We ordered 1/2 dozen conch fritters and a fried grouper sandwich. The fritters were wonderful, and very filling. I couldn't even finish all six! I don't have much to compare them to since this was my first conch fritter experience, but they were wonderful. Kind of like a hush puppy with chopped peppers and conch mixed in. Mmmmmm.... The grouper sandwich was great as well. Very lightly fried, and served on fresh french bread with a tangy key lime tartar sauce. They really should bottle that tartar sauce and sell it! (does anyone know if they do?) The sauce was also amazing with the fritters. So the place is definitely a shack - check out the pictures on here for confirmation, but it's very charming and laid back and just had that quintessential key west vibe going on. It was nice to go here and get away from the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing-drunk-at-11am-tourist crowd. Prices are decent. I believe the fritters were around $7 and the sandwich was $8. Wife and I ate here tonight. Had high hopes based on the reviews but we were sorely disappointed. This place is a super tourist trap. One sandwich, one limeade, 3 small conch fritters and a small salad for $40. They are cash only. The fried grouper itself is really good but the thin filet of fish is lost in a thick bland white bread smothered in 1980s cole slaw. The conch fritters were not fried correctly. They had no crunch to them. They tasted like something had been totally burned in the oil and they were very greasy. The $6 side salad was a small paper tray of romaine, cucumber and onion. If you're reading this, save your money and go down the street to Bien. We ate there last night - similar outside eating concept but much higher quality food. read more

This is a little shack right on the corner of the street. We actually picked here to go because when my friend and I were shopping around we asked several different locals were they would eat, and everyone always referred us here. The food was pretty good and fast. I liked the ambiance of this place as well. Like all of Key West though, its HOT and this is outdoor although covered seating. Minus extra stars because I did find this a tad expensive for what it was and portion size, and the people seemed a tad indifferent to your order. I will say this was one of my favorite spots while in Key West! It was hot as hell out so we stopped in for a beer and something quick to eat and a break from the heat wave! I ordered the fish tacos because when your near the ocean why eat anything else besides seafood! My tacos were delicious! Food was amazing and the ambiance is cheeky. A hen and her chicks were strolling through the seating area, super cute. I had a fried mahi sandwich. The roll was light and easy, the fish was flaky and fresh. I also had a bowl of the red conch chowder. There was plenty of conch in the chowder. My friend had some ahi tuna tacos with a side of black beans and rice. These were also tasty, and, a large serving size. Went while on a Royal Caribbean stopover. We were looking for something a little different and found it here. Little shack-like vibe with seating for large or small groups. The patio fans keep it cool and breezy. The food was delicious. Crab cake sandwich was juicy (I prefer mine a little drier), big, flavorful, and fried perfectly. I had it with an Estrella Jalisco and was very satisfied. Family members ordered the grouper and mahi, and said they were amazing as well. The prices were Pretty good for the location, my soft shell crab was $17, but some menu items were less than $10. also great customer service and the food came out quickly. I knew on my first trip to Key West I had to try some Key Lime Pie and Conch Fritters. I had read from many sites that this was the place to have some of that fritter goodness. This place is always a great stop while visiting Key West, like they say don't judge a book by it's cover! Some of the best restaurants around the country are some of the most "un flattering" to the eye. The staff here are extremely polite and friendly. Walk up and place your order and they will either bring you the food or they will call your name to pick it up. Be sure to keep an eye on the special board. We personally love their burger, order it with everything you will not be disappointed. It's large enough to share if your going to order some fries or their homemade rice and beans as a side. This review is going to touch on a few areas that get the five star approval from me and why this place is a must-stop whilst in Key West. First is the food, just the food. It is BOMB. My dad brought us here and I wished it had been on the first day of my trip so I Could've gone back again. Everyone was psyched about their food. Next I'll say the guys that worked there were hot. Nothing I'd complain about if they weren't but they all looked cute and charming and the food was so good. It wasn't too much for me tho, I tougher it out. Then there's the actual place. It's like indoor, but it's outdoor. There's bands of chickens and chicks and roosters running amuck. Wild and free. On your table, past your feet. I loved them, they were cute. And there's all these smashed phones and silly signs and business cards and stuff. It's awesome. We rode out bikes and parked right outside. Although I wasn't able to find shrimp tacos on the menu, I did see a shrimp sandwich and figured I was willing to settle for that. Ordered a beer from a local Keys brewery and waited for the tacos. Two tacos came out and had shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and chopped tomatoes on them. Three small containers of sauce were on the side with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream as well as a lime wedge and I dressed my tacos with all of these options. Tacos were decent, fresh tasting, but not particularly flavorful. Slaw was crunchy and lightly dressed which was nice. Overall, the food was fine but not really notable in any way. Great dive spot for seafood! My wife and I stopped in because we were tired of the tourist traps for seafood. This place did not fail to deliver. The ambience is very eclectic, which we love. You order at the bar and it gets delivered to your table when ready. The beer is buy one get one free until 5pm! (A big plus when trying to not break the bank). Everything is fresh! Another plus! The conch (pronounced "Konk") is pretty good here. I had it as the "conch ceviche", which was pretty good. Also, I had the Swordfish tacos and my wife had the Shrimp sandwich. Both were amazing! I highly recommend getting here before 6pm. That's when the beers are buy one get one free. Ultimately, I'd come back here again. This place was well worth the walk and the fish is outstanding. Everything is old and dirty looking .. the floors had water on it and it just looked sewage like to me but I guess that's part of the key west charm. It is a very fun restaurant. I was immediately attracted by its decorations, then after I tried the food, emm...I need to share this with friends, it is great. I was passing the street, and noticed this restaurant. It has an old car as a decoration outside the restaurant. I immediately took my camera and caught the view. Then I wanted to see how's the inside look. The theme of the restaurant is "old", so you could see old ship stuff, like anchors, float balls. This place was recommended to us by several locals. I wanted a not-so-touristy spot with delicious seafood and we most definitely found it here! We ordered the crispy shrimp tacos, a burger, the conch fritters, and an order of fries, and we shared their house limeade! EVERYTHING was AMAZING!!! The conch fritters with their house aioli was delicious and came out hot and fresh. Her burger was cooked perfectly, and my tacos were to die for. If we had a couple more days to spare, I would have gone back. Had I known how big the portions are, I would have left out the fries. They were good, but just WAY too much for two people. And can we talk about the adorable fearless baby chickens?!? They jumped on our table at the end of the meal when I was done and put my napkins on top of my plate and they started eating my leftover rice and beans! During the meal they walk all over the restaurant, under your feet, behind you, in front of you. I'm certain they are very well-fed by the guests who dine there and are just as enthusiastic about dining with cute baby animals, to the dismay of the employees, who grabbed squirt bottles and shooed them away with water (the quote was "I'm watering the chickens, they have to grow so we can feed them to you later").
