Had a great experience from start to finish. Food, atmosphere, staff and customers. I sat at the bar, the bartender with helpful with recommendations. Then two women next to me who had eaten near the night before gave their recommendations for the Aji tuna. of course, went with the recommendation and it was a good recommendation. Then I started with the asparagus soup. It was very rich, but tasted great and was good consistency. Finally to complete the meal, I had cheesecake topped with local blueberries, it was delicious . Al also found other customers were friendly and had a nice conversation with someone who comes in the place fairly frequently . Overall, it was really nice of Douglas

I don't think much more needs to be said, but I'll set the scene... Visited on a slow winter day. Even on a Saturday, a reservation wasn't needed. Not positive what it's like in the summer with an outdoor area, but Saugatuck and Douglas are kind of dead in the colder months, unsurprisingly. Nevertheless, I don't think our experience was much different. I wouldn't say the food blew me away, but I think Borrowed Time has some of the most creative options in the area. The stuffed dates are probably one of those weirder things to get as an appetizer. We (two people) ended up getting three smaller starters with the lamb, pork belly and ramen and it was still under 100 bucks with a couple drinks. Pricing two drinks at $25 is... fine, but getting all that food for $75 is pretty good, given the variety and preparation. Usually places like this cost a little more, which is why I think five stars is the correct rating. Every dish had its perk. The tikki masala tzatziki sauce on the lamb, the cheese on the tart, the spaghetti squash with the pork belly. All of the ramen.

Borrowed Time is a cute tapas like restaurant. Reservations are recommended if you have a large party. The staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely order 2-3 dishes per person as recommended since the dishes are meant to be shared. Our table got to try about half of the menu. Overall, the food is pretty good for the area! My only complaint is that the duck egg fried rice was too wet and didn't really resemble a "fried rice."

I've been going there since they had their original location. My late husband always wanted to go there when we drove into Michigan. I was there over the weekend and told one of the owners and he was well impressed. The food is always good

We came to Borrowed Time for the 2024 Halloween dinner. Wow. Amazing food, wine, and service. Can't imagine it could be done any better.

The food, layout, service, and scenery was spectacular, but the plates really are small.

My wife and I came here for dinner while we were Saugatuck. It's located on the other side of the like which is nice because you can actually park without looping around and around like in Saugatuck. The food was excellent. Everything we ordered we loved. This is a shared plate restaurant which was perfect even though she doesn't eat red meat and I do. I had a Kumquat Caipirinha cocktail, which was excellent, and she had wine. We started with some marinated olives and the bread board. Both very delicious We then ordered the goose egg fried rice with kimchi. Very good with just enough heat. We then ordered the grilled carrots and peppers. Excellent. I ordered the seared pork belly and we shared the Sablefish dish. Both excellent choices. I did make a reservation the day of for 6:30 on a Sunday and we got sat right away. There were many choices available that morning. We left around 7:45 and they were definitely busy which was nice to see for such a great place. Some people brought their small kids (and one dog) but as talking with my wife, we would not have brought our young kids here. Our kids have grown up but I'm still not sure all of them would find something to eat here. 1 is a foodie, another is more adventurous, and the third is a burger, mac and cheese, or pizza kind of eater. Nothing here for her. Our dinner came to $123 which was under what our other dinners have been in South Haven, Fenn Valley, and Saugatuck.

Food was great, loved the building, delicious cocktail and very friendly staff. The scallops were a lot of fun.

Excellent but small menu. Fresh cream of asparagus soup was heavenly. Make sure you stop by this great restaurant!

Quaint Michigan-owned Wine Tasting in South Haven, Michigan. One block away from the harbor…read more Visiting on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, the store was not overly crowded. My friend and I stopped there on our leisure walk. There were 4 people inside, with 2 waitresses working. We were politely greeted by Kim, who explained the "run of the land." You get 5 tastings for $12. Like most wine tastings, there are options of whites, reds, semi-sweets, and sweets. There is a $4 uncharge to try the ice wine. Although I'm usually a "Red Girl," my favorite was the Beach White and the River Stone White. My least favorite was the River Stone Dry Rosè.Rose. My friend's last favorite was the PinoPinot Grigio. I must also admit that Pinot Noir is typically my wine of choice and this one was not very good to my palate. As a pleasant treat, this establishment also offers a variety of ice cream bars from another Michigan-owned business called Icebox Brand. We did not try them, but it is reportedly delicious with options for small and large bars. Another bonus is you get to keep your tasting glasses! Overall, it was a great experience with delicious options. As a seasoned wine taster, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
