I had heard really good things about BORI. With a more upscale menu and service, this is a great spot for a more intimate dining experience. I let my dining partner do the ordering for dinner, and he chose one of the beef sets. The banchan was good, but the meat was even better. Can't go wrong with some nicely marbled beef belly! The waitstaff did the majority of the cooking. Would return for a special night.
Came here with a large group to celebrate a friend's birthday. Honestly, I think K-BBQ is always better in smaller groups so you can get more pieces of meat and fewer requests to refill the side dishes! As for the food, the meat quality was solid for Houston K-BBQ, though the portions were on the smaller side. Surprisingly, the cold noodles actually stood out the most. The desserts, however, were a complete miss. Even though it is peak summer mango season, the mango tasted exactly like frozen fruit, and the cake was disappointing. Bottom line: Come for the meat and noodles, but skip the dessert.
This is not all you can eat. Very nice and boujee k bbq place. The area it's in could be better but the actual place is surprisingly nice. It looks like a nice place to have a meeting or to take a date or go with a group of friends/family. The servers cook the k bbq for you and the meat quality was the best I've had anywhere so far. The inside of the place had an art gallery, piano, and private rooms. They even have a bar in the back and a little garden outside. The downside of this place is probably cost but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality and experience. Parking is a little difficult but it does look like they have valet at night.
I love Bori so much for when I'm craving good kbbq while in Houston. Their food, service, and decor (specifically outside) are amazing. Our server was so awesome. Such a sweet guy and he cooked everything to perfection. My mom and I shared a plate of japchae and a small set of beef cuts. The japchae was really good! As for the beef cuts, it comes with beef belly and we ordered beef tongue and marinated boneless short rib. Beef tongue is really delicious and tender for all you wondering.. All of the beef cuts were delicious but beef tongue is my favorite! The beef cut set comes with steamed egg, kimchi (or soybean) stew, and corn cheese. I can't wait to visit Houston again just so I can go back to Bori.
Love the Korean modern architecture and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation! We ordered the japchae and seafood pancake that was recommended along with a pairing of makgeolli. Japchae was pretty good, but on the sweeter side and seafood pancake was delicious! For main course, I ordered the course option with the premium beef and pork options that yielded in 6 different types of meats. Our server suggested the large, but for 4 people I think we can do one size up. This came with steamed eggs, choice of soup, rice, and side dishes. I thought the soup size and side dish portions were very small for the 4 of us. The quality of all the meats were very good! This was the highlight of the meal. I felt like we could still eat more and ordered the bibimnaengmyun which is spicy cold noodle. This too was good, but on the sweeter side. Kimchi jjigae was also on the sweet side. To end it off, we ordered the mango wings, which was delicious. They added a mango sorbet to the top and pieces of mochi. Overall, portions were small and food being on the sweeter side, but the quality was good.
This place has the best SEAFOOD PANCAKE in Houston, and no one can tell me otherwise! Super fluffy and crispy. What an exceptional dining experience! I love kbbq, but if I'm keeping it 100, sometimes I'm just too tired or lazy to cook my own food. Here, they cook for YOU. I don't think it's even an option. We had the Butcher's Feast (Large) for 3 people and we were stuffed! There was a choice of 4 proteins and refillable banchan sides: kimchi, steamed egg, corn cheese, salad, fish cake, potato salad, perilla leaves, etc. My personal fave was the potato salad and kimchi. For the proteins, we chose the ribeye, boneless short ribs, pork belly and marinated pork. All were cooked to perfection. I was so hungry, my phone skipped some photos. :( An added bonus to dinner is the indoor art gallery. You can peruse while waiting for your table to be ready. Reservations highly recommended. This place is ideal for large groups. Service is outstanding, and did I mention they cook for you?? =)
IMO this place have new management and the food is not great. We spend over $200 for beef that is chewy than buffalo meat. I was very disappointed in their squid salad (they use to cut in thin slices & put on top of salad) .... Their kimchi soup so salty....their condiment side dish are smaller portions now. 2 yrs ago their food was very yummy. After returning this time I'm not ever coming back here. They need to taste their own cooking!!!
I've been to Bori several times now, experiencing both the main dining room and the private room. I must say that Bori consistently provides excellent service and delicious food. The entire property is beautiful from the Hanok style building, the outside landscaping, the art gallery, the multiple private rooms, and the large main dining area. Reservations are not necessary, however highly encouraged as it does get busy during peak hours. Their meats are high quality. I haven't tried everything, but I truly believe you cannot go wrong with anything you choose here. I've enjoyed their japchae and Galbi jeem as appetizers. For meats, I liked their beef belly, spicy pork, marinated short rib, their NY strip. They cook the meat right in front of you, so you don't have to worry about cooking. There is a reasonable amount of desserts. Nice to finish your meal with. Have not tried their cakes, but their ice creams and mango bingsu will suffice. Highly recommend Bori, whether if it's just for a date night or with your whole family. You'll definitely enjoy dining here.
This is probably one of my favorite Korean bbq places in town. What we've found is that it's best to order one of their meat platters because they will include kimchi stew, cheese corn, steamed egg and white rice with your meal. Of course, they also bring you unlimited banchan dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, potato, salad, etc. The meats are high quality, tender and flavorful. One thing to note about this restaurant is that your server will cook your meats for you tableside so all you have to do is eat, eat, eat.
Went for lunch with my girlfriends. Plenty of parking, and it's nice and cozy inside. I can see how in the evenings it could be a great date night place due to the lighting and the snazzy interior. Servers and everyone were pleasant, got us seated right away, and came by plenty of times to check our water and replenish accordingly. Their lunch menu has a great variety of options and the prices are reasonable. I had the Udon Yookejang, and it was delicious. The serving size was incredibly large. Four people could have eaten out of my one serving. I also wish it was just a bit spicier or that they had better chili crisp? But the udon and brisket were perfectly cooked and I enjoyed my meal. My companions had the seafood pancake, japchae and bulgogi stone pot. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and we were are astonished by the portion sizes. We definitely had leftovers for days. I can't wait to go back and try more options.
I came here in a big group of around 15 people and someone already pre-ordered all the food. Sadly, I forgot to take photos of everything. Everything was happening so fast. The waiter was very quick in bringing us the food. We were also put at a long table that does not have a grill so everything was precooked to medium and brought to us. Of all the food that I could remember, the fried chili eggplant, marinated short rib, ribeye, and steamed egg was my favorite. The decoration here is intricate and very modern. I really like how there is an open art gallery right next-door. Great place for a date or a child free night. We did have a hard time flagging the waiter down for drinks or to ask questions. Parking is free in both the front and the back .
Bori is good, or even very good, Korean BBQ. No doubt that the quality of meats, sides, and drinks here is very high. Where I struggle is the value. We made a reservation for 5pm on a Friday to take full advantage of their happy hour. When we arrived there were already a couple of tables enjoying their meals, but we were one of the first. It got quite busy after we were seated. We ordered the seafood pancake, beef cuts (with ribeye and marinated boneless short rib), a pork jowl, and a couple of glasses of wine. The meats were delicious and well marbled and perfectly complimented with their variety of banchans. I particularly enjoyed the combination of ribeye, kimchi'd garlic scapes, and kimchi'd radish all wrapped in lettuce and perilla leaf. Where I struggle to provide a strong recommendation for Bori is the value. Yes, they are trying to be a high end establishment and have set a good foundation for them to be just that. However, I feel that the AYCE KBBQ options in Houston have gotten so strong that Bori just seems less compelling. The likes of Garosu and Handam offer high quality meats, unique cuts of beef, and stellar marinated meat options, but they are unlimited. The side dishes at the AYCE places mentioned also tend to be quite strong. All of these are available at a much lower price point than what we had at Bori. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed my meal and was very full afterwards. The service is great and all of the food is delicious. I just can't find myself coming back if there are other very strong options in town.
I am a but conflicted on my bori experience because it was surprisingly underwhelming. Service was good in the sense that they cooked our meats for us, but there were things they did not do well. For example we were not provided all our sides. We had no rice, and when we asked about it, the waitress said we already had so much food that she didn't think we needed rice. The photos below reflect the food we had for a group of 3. The waitress also kept making comments about how much we were eating which i personally did not appreciate. As a business, why do you care how much people are willing to buy? This is not a buffet or ALL YOU CAN EAT, so again why are you being stingy with food we are trying to buy? The second area of concern is the sides were not great, kimchi was drowned by fish sauce that you couldn't enjoy it. And THE MEAT, even the "seasoned" short ribs, had barely any flavor. It felt extremely overpriced for the value you get. The only hype here is the A5 -- and that also, did not impress. I had such high hopes.

When we came for dinner previously, we noticed they had a good selection in their lunch menu and thought we give it a try. Lunch specials the whole week. We ordered the Galbi Tang (short rib noodle soup), sizzling beef belly, seafood pancake, tofu soup and hot stone bowl bulgogi. For lunch they served 4 different panchans (side dishes) including a couple of kimchi varieties, potato salad and fish cake. All very good. The Galbi Tang comes in piping hot. The short rib was tender and fall off the bone and the btoth was beefy and you can bring it up a notch with the side sauces to adjust to your liking. The beef belly was tender and the accompanying sauce makes it good. Their seafood tofu soup was good although it seems a bit salty for my taste. Seafood pancake is delicious! Cooked well on both sides. The sauce complemented it well. Probably the best seafood pancake I've had outside Korea. Staff was very attentive and made sure our cups were full. They are also friendly suggesting recommendations that they like. Restaurant gives an intimate vibe. Overall, happy with lunch menu. Offers great value considering how good they are. Highly recommended. read more
Was craving some Korean BBQ, and this is still one of my favorite spots in town. One thing I really appreciate is that the staff grills the meat for you, so you can just relax and enjoy your meal without worrying about overcooking it. The quality of the meat is consistently excellent. It's a little on the pricier side, but definitely worth it for the quality and service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu, making the dining experience even better. The restaurant is also clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly doesn't leave you smelling like BBQ afterward, which is always a plus. read more

I love coming to Bori!! Every time I come here, the food does not disappoint. Meat cuts are high quality and servers cooked them really well for you. They're known for the meat cuts, but I also recommend trying their appetizers and entrees, especially the seafood pancake and japchae!! This place is a good place for special occasions or a nice dinner on a random day of the week. The place is decorated really well and even have an art museum before you enter that you can go in while waiting for your table. I do recommend reserving a table ahead of time in case they're busy. One down side is that their parking is limited but there's vallet and street parking if needed. read more
I am no stranger to KBBQ restaurants, and this one was interesting. It is an al la carte, not all you can eat. The exterior had some cool decorations and they have a mini art museum you can peruse once you're done. I went with my friends, 3 of us, and we ordered the $200 (around this) platter. We ordered 3 soups, assuming a combo would include one for each of us. The meat was very high quality and savory, however you didn't get that much. The sides weren't bad but I've had better (personally). At the end, they charged us for 2 extra bowls of soup, which was not previously disclosed or we wouldn't have ordered them. And I can confidently say, this was the first time I ever left KBBQ still feeling hungry. For the price, the amount did not justify the price. read more
I went to BORI in Spring Branch for a work lunch, it was definitely a fun and memorable experience, especially since it was only my second time having Korean barbecue like that, and it was year ago The setup is impressive, and the food presentation feels like an event in itself. They cook the meat for you at the table, which is great if you're not totally sure what you're doing (like me). Everything was well-prepared and tasty, with a lot of different flavors to explore. I really appreciated going with two Korean colleagues who explained some of the dishes and added a cultural perspective to the meal. Even tried barley tea, which looks like slightly tinted water, but they says is good for digestion! All in all, a great spot if you're looking for more than just a meal. It's not an everyday lunch, but definitely worth trying for the experience. read more
Superb service from hostess all the way to the waitstaff. Food quality was superb, the lighting and overall atmosphere was great!! Pricey but worth it.. definitely recommend and will come back read more
General Description: Upscale Korean Steakhouse located in a random neighborhood. Good: - Side dishes: I can generally tell if a Korean restaurant will be good by their quality of kimchi. I would give it 7 out of 10. - The mul and spicy naenyuns were good. Although I prefer a lighter taste, they tailored the dish to fit more the American palate (full flavored). - The rib finger fried rice was also good. The rib eye was super soft seasoned well. - Clean decor. - Service was great. Bad: - parking is limited - If I could knit pick, the rice was a tad bit overcooked. - pricey Overall: Possibly the best korean food in Houston. read more

I came to BORI for a lunch meeting last month. I was blown away with the atmosphere and service. I couldn't believe Houston has a fancy restaurant like BORI tucked away in the Spring Branch neighborhood. From the moment I entered the parking lot to the dinner table. Everything was so immaculate and no shortcuts to perfection. Because we were here as part of a tour, the group lead ordered 4 signature dishes to share amongst 8 of us hungry tourists. We first arrived at the gallery while waiting for the rest of group to arrive. This facility is incredible. There are so many possibilities for many venues to be hosted here. I heard there is a patio for private setting. Wow. Is this a dream? We didn't have Korean BBQ because it was too common. But it's on my list of things to try when I come back one day. read more

1. Service - wait staff were super nice and professional. These guys are trained well in their knowledge of the menu, and outstanding customer service. I am impressed! 2. Price - the place is pricey and not a good bang for the buck. We've paid roughly $100 for 2 adults and a toddler. Still hungry afterwards. I rather go to a nice Brazilian steakhouse if I'm spending that much. 3. Ambiance - the place is gorgeous inside and out. It feels like an art museum. Speaking of which, they actually have an art gallery inside. It's nice, but at the end of the day, it's still a smokey Korean BBQ place. This is a place where you may want to bring your boss or date to impress them. 4. Food - the food was tasty, but the portions were a bit small. We've ordered the BORI BEEF CUTS (S) and a Kimchi Pancake. Sad to say, but I was a bit disappointed in the portion I got. Take a look at my pictures for a gauge of what I'm talking about. 5. Cleanliness - Dining area looks clean, restrooms are spacious. However, first thing I've noticed was that the floors are greasy and slippery. Better bring a nice pair of non-slip shoes to eat here. SUMMARY - this is an upscale Korean BBQ restaurant. You're paying for the ambiance and the food. There are other places in Houston that I rather go for Korean BBQ. Unfortunately, I may not frequent this place as I would like. read more
We had the Bori beef cut combo and were pleasantly surprised at how authentic the dishes were. All the side dishes were so good we had to ask for a refill. The fluffy Steamed egg and Soybean stew were pretty good too. The staffs grill the meat for you and I liked it that they give us enough time between each meat so that we don't have to eat in a rush. They also ask you what's your preference before grilling the ribeye. We chose medium and it was cooked perfectly medium, although it was a tad bit chewy. read more
Overall: 4.75 This is as close as I've experienced in Korea and LA, CA. This place's decor is impressive, but the only thing that didn't give this a 5 out of 5 is the ambiance of Korea or KTOWN, LA. Pros: - Parking is abundant - Couple of locations - Meat quality - Staff was quick - Side dishes were flavorful - Full bar Side Notes: - Happy Hour M-F - Closes at 9.30 PM - Montrose hours are diff - OpenTable reservations - Gallery at Memorial location What We Got: - NY Strip Tartare - Butcher's Feats (L) - Ribeye, marinated short rib, jowl - Corn Cheese - Steamed Egg - Soybean Stew What We Loved: Design: The Interior with the gallery and a feeling like you were in old-school Korea mixed with a modern twist on the inside. The plating of the dishes made the higher prices notable, as you weren't just at any Korean BBQ spot. We went a bit at night before they were closing, so it wasn't as crowded as it could be during lunch or peak hours during the weekend. Food/Drinks: We have a few sides, and the butcher's feast is large. It was only for two people, so we had leftovers as that was way too much to order, but our "eyes" were HANGRY. The meats were perfectly marinated, and the side dishes were pretty flavorful. They aren't the highlight, but you could tell that this place paid attention to the banchan (side dishes in Korean). We had nothing from the bar and only a few beers, so nothing special. The corn cheese didn't feel stale; it had that sauce that kept you eating it. Get the tartare, too, if you love that style, because it was REALLY GOOD! Staff: Everyone seemed friendly, given they were ready to go home. Waters were filled, side dishes replenished, and the food quality reminded me of what Korean BBQ should be like in the South! Opportunities To Improve: The music was low because everyone was going home, so I don't remember it. I don't want it to be an EDM club, so everything was good there. I was there with a friend, so the staff and the food quality were perfect. The menu is easy to order, so study it before you come. If you are hungry, like I was, you want to order everything and get lost reading the menu. Summary: What a great addition to the city of Houston! They have tremendous food there but wanted a place that wasn't AYCE (lower-quality meats). I love this place, and the new location in Montrose looks really incredible. When I'm back in Houston, I'll be back at BORI! read more
As a KBBQ enthusiast, every time I try a new KBBQ spot in town, I find myself thinking, "Is this as good as BORI?" So far, the answer's been a sizzling no. Located in Spring Branch area, BORI is slightly tucked away compared to other Korean restaurants on Long Point. Given its increased popularity throughout the years, parking in their private lot could be very limited, however, there are valet parking and street parking available. The building and interior is modern with hints of Korean influence. They also have an art gallery which is pretty unique. BORI has an à la carte menu. Our go-to are the seafood pancakes and the Butcher's Feast combo which comes with beef belly, rib finger plus 4 additional meat of choice, and 3 sides. The seafood pancakes tastes freshly made, soft and moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The meat quality and flavors are solid. The servers are attentive and cooked the meat perfectly for us. You might be slightly disappointed if you are used to DIY spots. I'm also a fan of the steamed egg, corn cheese and kimchi stew which came with the combo. While the main courses are delicious, the banchans are refreshing and tasted traditional. Overall BORI is a great spot for date night or if you crave solid KBBQ. I would suggest making a reservation ahead of time to avoid long wait. read more

Enjoyed all the dishes we ate here! All the soups had a deep, rich flavor. The galbitang is one of our favorites--it's what had us coming back a second time for lunch. We liked the Udon Yookaejang too. We enjoyed the combo of the thicker, chewier noodles and the clean, spicy soup. If you come here, you should expect a wait, even during lunch hours. This is the one minor complaint that I have about this restaurant; there are plenty of larger tables and event space in here that sit empty while the line for the main dining area gets long. read more

I've tried so many kbbq in Houston and this is my number 1 favorite. The quality of meat is as good as it gets. They have a lot of variety of dishes, side dishes and sauces too like seafood pancake, kimchi soup, corn cheese, japchae and they are all worth trying!! The atmosphere is also beautiful and they have a nice back garden and art gallery to look at while waiting for the food. Service is good! read more

Review for BORI Restaurant We have been frequent visitors to BORI and have always enjoyed the great-tasting food and consistently good service. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will be our last due to the way we were treated. On December 21, 2024, at 5:30 pm, we brought close friends to BORI for dinner, hoping to offer them a comforting evening after the recent and heartbreaking loss of their 10-year-old son. While the meal itself was enjoyable, the experience took a disappointing turn at the end. Upon check-in, we were informed of a 2-hour dining limit, which we understood. However, at 7:20 pm, while we were finishing dessert, the hostess abruptly entered and rudely told us that our 2-hour limit was up and that we needed to leave. Her tone and delivery were shocking--leaving our entire party stunned and us, as the hosts, deeply embarrassed. There is a respectful and professional way to communicate that information, but the hostess seemed completely unaware of how to do so. We have dined at many fine restaurants with similar two-hour time limits and have never been treated this way. Most establishments understand that a party may run 10 to 20 minutes over and handle it with much more professionalism and courtesy when enforcing the policy. After spending over $400 on dinner, we expected more professionalism and sensitivity, especially during what was meant to be a supportive evening for grieving friends. The hostess's attitude and lack of proper training completely soured what should have been a pleasant experience. This incident has made us question ever returning to BORI. We are extremely disappointed. read more

I thought BORI was just ok. I think the service was great but for the price I expected more meat with the order. The flavor of the meat is pretty good and our server was excellent. He was nice and attentive, and also did a great job cooking. There are options to order and have them cook at your table, or cook in the back, the cook at table options were priced between 100-200 dollars. We ordered a meal option that had them cook at our table,it was fun to watch but the table was crowded between the cooking and all of the salad and filler you get with the order. This location has a pretty cool art exhibit across the hall you can visit for free with a ton of detailed paintings, so I guess that offset the price some. We paid around $300 for a table of 4, so with the price being what it was I would rather go to a traditional steakhouse personally. read more
My favorite place for Korean bbq so far. Our server was incredibly attentive and everything was grilled to perfection. The quality of the meat was excellent and we loved the short rib combo platter. The seafood pancake was one of the best I've had, and crispy all over with plenty of fillings. All of the side dishes were tasty as well. We had a great experience and will definitely be coming back again. read more
What a cool place for dinner! The waitress cooked everything for us and the meat was cooked to perfection. We got a combo meat and ordered another serving of pork belly and we were all stuffed. The ban Chan was also delicious. The combo came with soup and steamed egg. The restaurant is clean and decorated well. There is an art show in the restaurant which was also very neat. Would come back again! read more
