Just stopped by for the first time yesterday. My wife, pup, and I were looking for a late lunch. It was a slow time of the day, but I think they get busier around the afternoon cruises of the Huron Lady tour boat that boards right near Bootleggers boardwalk deck entry. First of all, service was excellent. Attentive but not overwhelming. And they took great care of my dog too! Great view, right on the river where we watched tons of recreational boaters entering and leaving Lake Huron. Now, we weren't there to toss axes, but you could if you wanted. We were just there to eat and enjoyed the food. I had a bison burger- juicy and perfectly cooked. My wife enjoyed two tacos (shrimp and brisket) and a blue slushie drink that she said was tasty and fun. read more

We came here for dinner before a boat cruise and it was fine but nothing special. I didn't want a big meal so I got the New England clam chowder and a shrimp scampi appetizer. The shrimp was soaking in butter which might appeal to some people but I didn't care for it. My friend got the cod fish and chips and the fish looked a bit overcooked and the fries were waffle fries. We came here after the beach and we sat on the patio where you can watch the boats go by and the bridge go up and down. The service was great! He was so attentive and informative, he even brought us a nice cloth to clean the baby without us asking. Husband said the beer menu was great! The cheese curds were delicious! We got them deconstructed since I don't like tajin and hubby does. The tomato sauce that came with them was also good. I ordered the chicken fingers and they were just ok. It was a lot of dark meat and a lot of breading and some weird spots. The fries were good. Husband said his burger was just ok and a little overcooked. Overall we enjoyed our experience. read more

This place is great. It's nice inside and super clean. It features waterside indoor/outdoor seating and there is a speakeasy underneath on the weekends with live music. The food is fantastic. I tried the elk steak with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. They have an extensive full bar list with many great beers on draft. First time and last time coming here. Such a terrible experience. First of all we seated ourselves at the window to watch the boats. I had high hopes for this place since it's right on the water. Boy was I sadly mistaken. The waitress brought over 3 dinner rolls for the 4 of us and said they ran out! Then we ordered dinner. I ordered butter chicken no rice. When it arrived it had rice and was obviously microwaved. Some Parts were cold and others hot. She said oh they put rice on your plate - want me to have them take it off? Why didn't she just do that in the kitchen before bringing it out. They ran out of elk and wagu steaks which we found out after ordering it and getting a piece of overcooked I don't know what. It was 6:00 on a Tuesday and it's boat week. How can you run out of meat? There were only 8 total people in the place. The cook came out and spoke to the table next to us and said he searched the freezer and couldn't find any more steaks. What a terrible experience from start to finish. We went on a Tuesday evening and the place was basically empty. The menu states that free rolls are served after 3:00. The waitress brought our group of four 3 rolls and apologized they are out. No big deal at this point. One person at our table orders the elk steak, another waygu steak, one butter chicken, and I asked for the elk steak. She told me there was only one elk steak left. I decided to go with the waygu. When she brought the steaks to the table my steak looked nothing like the other two so I'm not sure what it was. The waitress said she even asked the cook because it didn't look right and he said it was right to send it. The butter chicken was half hot and half cold. It was also ordered NO rice. The waitress brought it out and even noticed and said oops they put rice anyway, can you pick it out?. Clearly microwaved which they did not deny. When cutting into my steak it was well done and was ordered medium rare, she took it back and returned 10 minutes later stating that was there last one which explains why they served me some random cut of steak. At this point I didn't even want to order. We let her know the whole experience was terrible from start to finish. Short on rolls, no steaks, cold butter chicken not made the right way which was not eaten. The waitress disappeared for a while and came back and said she was going to waive an onion ring up-charge, 15% off the butter chicken meal and remove my steak meal since I didn't get it. The cook came out and told the table behind us that he searched the entire freezer and couldn't find any steaks, they had to order soup and sides . We kinda chuckled and the manager gave us an evil eye and decided she was going to deliver the bill herself. She was not professional at all. We let her know we will not be coming back and she replied with an okay. They claim the weekend prior was busy and they ran out of a lot but by Tuesday on one of the upcoming busiest weeks in port Huron there's no reason to not have food. read more

This is an enthusiastic review for a place that punches way above its weight! This is an axe throwing place which is perfect for a fun evening for groups of friends. But I was there to eat and I have to say. I was expecting truck stop food and instead had one of the best steaks I've had in town! The garlic mashed potatoes were spectacular and even my green beans had a nice flavor. They have a carefully crafted menu with diverse food items and my group praised everything they ate. They have deck seating that overlooks the black river. The service was polite and pretty speedy as well (and I think she was a new waitress) I confess that Five stars might be a stretch but this was such a delightful surprise that I have to gush. Waffle fries and brisket sandwich were good. Elements of this were solid; such as the pretzel bun and coleslaw. However, the portion I got with the fries was small (this was the same with the rest of the group) and the brisket was sliced in a way that it felt more like roast beef. Still good flavor but it wasn't what was expected of a brisket sandwich. Portion of the onion rings was perfect for the people who got it. Would be cool if salt and pepper was available on the table. read more

Hidden Gem Alert!!! A group of 6 of us went here tonight, as first time visitors, and HOLY COW IT WAS FANTASTIC!! The staff was so friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome. The axe throwing was exciting and well-organized, with knowledgeable instructors who made it fun and safe. We all ordered different entrees, and we all raved how good they were. I ordered the Butter Chicken, which was exceptional! The portions were generous, we all had left overs to take home for tomorrow. The drink selection, especially the Revolver Reloaded, was impressive and perfectly paired with our meals. They cook everything here from what I am tasting. We had dinner on the deck overlooking the water. The chicken tacos are really spicy and the brisket falls apart easily but is not fatty. The smoked salmon is smoky and salty. We had a cherry cider and I loved it. read more

Great newer restaurant! Where can you go near the Thumb of Michigan (middle east side) and get Thai, Indian, Mexican, Greek, etc, dishes that are exciting to eat?!...or even in most of Michigan?! Food was not good. We ordered the chicken tacos and we were not asked if we wanted soft shell or what they consider "crispy" shells. Came crispy, if that's what you want to call it. I bit into mine and it was so chewy that everything in my taco came flying out. And the chicken was questionable looking. We were so hungry that we just attempted to make the best of it. The service was ok, the waitress did however take a while to get our order and drinks. The manger did take 6.00 dollars off our bill but I feel like one meal should of been totally comped at least.
