Review #526 Sunday, 11/30/2025 Belated September Review for this business due to My Medical MIA for the last 3 months. I visited Marine City for My Birthday and was given a suggestion from the owner of The Heather House B & B to enjoy My dinner here at Anita's Riverfront Grille on Tuesday 9/16. The name was previously Anita's Place and has changed to Anita's Riverfront Grille. Yes this restaurant has patio seating for a "Riverfront view" of freighters passing by on St. Clair River. Of course, I posted a photo of one. Your choice of Seating is at the bar, high top tables inside, dining room areas and outdoor patio seating overlooking the River in Marine City. What a great place overall from a Welcome Hello upon walking in, also a Thank You come again when leaving from the Bartender. Sorry I didn't catch her name but photo attached, with a Happy Attitude! :-) There's always signs posted outside and on their website for certain holiday celebrations from Spring till Fall and Monday PIZZA night. Food: American and Mexican, Pizza. Great presentation, Delicious flavor on sauce for fish tacos and plentiful add-ons. Several Cooks are talented. Menus Offered good prices on daily drinks and food specials. Service: My Waitress was very friendly and attentive. I noticed other servers were fast and efficient too when assisting their table customers. Ambiance: Welcoming, Relaxed, Great Music but not loud, variety of areas to dine so pick a spot according to staff. Lots to view throughout which I enjoyed with decor and the atmosphere was casual. I'll definitely stop back in Spring 2026 to taste their Famous PIZZA, sandwich wraps and Large Bowl of Michigan Salads that I peeked at when watching orders come out of the fast kitchen. It was our first time here. I had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and my husband had the Fish and Chips. Both were very good. It is nice and bright inside with lots of seating. The service was excellent. We will be back. read more

My friend Cathy took me there last week to celebrate my Birthday and we ordered the Parmesan crusted Cod. We were amazed at how wonderful it was and so tasty and the coating was so light on the cod and not heavy. The green beans and my baked potato and the coleslaw were all really delicious also. Thank you for a wonderful meal. The service was great and the atmosphere is always a nice atmosphere. I will be back again for that delicious Parmesan Cod. read more

I'm giving Anita's Riverfront Grille a rating of 3 out of 5 Stars. This is based on numerous visits over the last 14 months. There are definite highlights, but also consistent frustrations that hold it back from being excellent. The Good: Food (Especially Pizza!): The star of the show is undeniably the pizza, particularly on Mondays with the half-off premium deal. The Large Chicken Alfredo Pizza (with the butter garlic Parmesan crust upgrade - highly recommended!) is absolutely amazing and worth the trip alone. The grilled chicken is perfectly cooked, and the Alfredo sauce is fresh, rich, and never broken or curdled. Everyone I've brought here agrees, it's some of the best pizza to be found. While enjoying it with a "tall dirty blonde" beer is a highly recommended perfect pairing. Cannot remember the name of the brewer, but they are a Michigan local. Ambiance (Outdoors): The best seats by far are the outdoor riverside tables. The view is truly amazing and significantly elevates the experience. The waitstaff in this section also tends to be more upbeat. Ambiance (Indoors & Layout): Indoors has a comfortable, typical tavern style with old wood interiors. Where the bar runs the length of main dining, with a few High top tables. Additionally, They have two separate areas for larger parties or when they are filled up, which is great for keeping big groups from overwhelming the main dining hall. The Bad: Service (Attitude & Inconsistency): This is the major drawback preventing a higher rating. There is a consistent issue with rudeness and dismissiveness, primarily from the younger staff (under 25), including hostesses. They often make you feel like you're an inconvenience just by being there. My teenage daughter refuses to return because of this attitude. This isn't a one-off; it's a recurring problem experienced on absolutely every visit. Service (Bar Specific): Sitting at the bar can be frustrating. You cannot call the bar staff over; you must wait for them to complete their rotation or they decide it's time to check on you. If you miss that brief window, you can sit with an empty glass for an unnecessarily long time. It's irritating. I've also observed a girl who appears definitely under 21 washing dishes behind the bar while giving customers dirty looks, which is unprofessional. Service (General): While the bar staff is sometimes "good," and the outdoor waitstaff better, the overall service culture often feels lacking in hospitality and attentiveness. The negative attitude from significant portions of the front-of-house staff overshadows the good food and view. Final Thoughts: Anita's Riverfront Grille serves fantastic pizza (especially the Monday Chicken Alfredo special) and offers a wonderful riverside outdoor experience. However, the persistently poor attitude and inconsistent service from much of the staff, particularly the younger members and hostesses, significantly detract from the overall experience. It's frustrating to encounter rudeness so regularly at a place with such great food and a prime location. I keep returning for that amazing Monday pizza, but the service issues make it a 3-star experience overall. Management really needs an overhaul or they must address the staff's attitude and give continual improvement training to unlock this restaurant's full potential. Otherwise, they only get my money on an occasional Monday. read more

They have the best pizzas. All the food is good but I go for the pizzas. Service is friend and food always comes out quick, fast, and hot. You have to try their award winning nachos but be warned, bring your appetite, they are worst every penny and piled high! read more

Onion rings were great, but the burger was so salty I couldn't eat it. This was my only meal this day, so it was super disappointing.

5 stars to today's lunch! Met with 4 other ladies today and it was all our first time here. The outside patio was really nice with big umbrellas for shade and nice tables and chairs. It's literally on the water so it's a great view. Food was all fantastic and well done. Traverse City Cherry salad, the fajita salad salad...fresh, crisp and tasty. The quesadillas are stuffed fat and so good. The service was excellent! Stephanie was our server and she obviously enjoys her job. Very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. read more

My husband and I sat on the patio and had a great dinner. He had the BBQ chicken sub and I had the chicken ranchers sub. Both were fantastic. The sub bun was fresh, toasted lightly and full of chicken. Andrew was a great and attentive server. The only problem was a bee that wanted to get into my glass of diet coke. But, I covered it with a napkin and it was fine. Prior to being seated outside, we were warned that there may be bees on the patio. read more

Love the pizza here - it's the best in the area. It's nice to sit on the back porch overlooking the river in the summer!

Normally the food is really good here I'll give them that. However today I got salmon salad. I don't recommend this dish. It's around $20 and the piece of salmon you will get is not much bigger than a silver dollar. In my mind definitely not worth the buck. Most places you go for that price and get a piece of salmon that's at least two to three inches and length here expect half that. read more

Since I am always one the look out for good pizza, my daughter and I took a drive to Marine City. The restaurant is right on the water with outdoor seating. Even though it was a perfect day to sit outside we did not. The restaurant looks narrow but there is additional seating spread throughout the building. I liked the look of the inside, very clean with exposed brick. We ordered a medium hand tossed cheese and pepperoni with garlic butter crust, water, Diet Coke and a side of ranch. The food arrived in a normal amount of time for a Friday. The pizza was really good, nice and hot with fantastic looking pepperoni's. The garlic butter flavored crust was a nice addition. Came to this place because of the view. The menu looked good. We ordered a cowboy burger onion rings and a Mexican sandwich. With in a hour of eating which neither of us could finish we both regretted our choice to eat there. I felt like a pepto commercial. I'm sure you can hear the song in your head. Anita's... one word- NACHOS!!! And go hungry!! Great views of the St. Clair river on their large riverside patio and great service too. They have delicious food and drinks with a big menu. The pizza is great, the subs are yummy too- my favorite is the buffalo chicken with crumbled blue chz added. I always love their salads and they have many choices. Spent a nice lunch together with family at Anitas out on the back deck enjoying a nice summer afternoon by the Saint Clair River. Service was fine although I did have to request a refill on water after a bit of time went by. My meal was average, order a Salmon Salad. It was fresh and portion size was good but the Salmon could use more seasoning maybe some Lemon as well. My co-diners food looked good and everyone seemed satisfied. The Italian sub was delightful! Huge portion. The fresh cut chips were great too. The blue Hawaiian frozen drink was yummy- large- not very boozy - more like a desert. We wanted to sit outside but heard they were closing soon so we ate at the bar. We have queso and chips, and split the Italian sub, each had a blue Hawaiian, one draft beer, one seltzer our bill was $50. Good deal. The drive out this was is great! I came here with a group of 9, and there was a slight wait. Once inside, we were seated and then it took quite a long time to place our orders. That being said, the waitress was great, but my pizza was lackluster. It was overly salty and soggy. After the meal, I went to pay with the app they've been promoting and it was just way too many steps. Overall, just an average experience: I've had better. I've had worse. read more

Went to Marine city and decided to eat at Anita's after a friend recommended it to me. It's a nice restaurant by the water. So you can choose to dine inside or outside. We ate outside so we can see the water and the boats. We ordered their famous nachos, chicken barbecue pizza and a burger with brisket and bacon. Everything was good but prepare to go there on an ampty stomach. The servings are big enough to be shared. The burger was so big my daughter didn't know how to eat it! read more

Pizza was fantastic and we loved having drinks on the patio watching freighters go by. Our waitress was nice, fast and straight to the point. The patio did have chairs along the edge that kind of block your view. But it was a great experience with delish dishes. read more

I was in your establishment today with a guest of mine. We were greeted by a rude 16 yo that sat us in the very back of the restaurant. With maybe 6 people in the building total. My guest and I sat patiently with no server ever coming to our table. Mind you two separate servers had been in the room. Five minutes goes by nothing. 10 minutes nothing. Mind you. Both servers were in the room. Talking to each other and the other table. 15 minutes nothing. So we left. Terrible service. Atrocious from the Anita's I grew up coming to. On top the menus were so dirty you could scrape stuff with your hands off of them. Have a great evening. Step up your game. read more

Had lunch at Anitas, and was very disappointed, l had the Roast Beef sub, the worst sandwich l ever had. Too hungry to return. My Wife had the Salmon Salad and said it was very good. I have never had a bad lunch/dinner at Rivieras restaurant down the street. read more

Had a large take out order for visiting family. Meal was well prepared and whole order was made correctly.

Very nice find !! We were camping at the State park down the road. Really nice service and food. The manager came over and introduced herself to us and was very nice. I had the nachos and my husband had the wet burrito and then dessert which was really good! read more

Went here last night for dinner with the in-laws. MIL ordered the Mexican combo plate, which arrived barely warm. They offered to remake it or reheat it, and she opted for the latter because she did not want her food to arrive long after ours. They did remake it, and it arrived piping hot. The food was still mediocre. FIL enjoyed his hickory burger and fries. My salmon salad and spouses grilled salmon were decent. I will recommend the green beans, which were not cooked to death. This could have been a four star review, but the service here was sorely lacking. Our server did not bring water when first requested, ran the bill without asking if we wanted dessert (which we did) And then took forever to pick up the check when she left it at the table. Excellent service & food during my first visit to Anita's. We had a 25-30 minute wait last night but it was well worth it. People were social distancing and being respectful, seated away from others even while being outside. We sat outside with a party of 6 and 1 toddler. They have a huge menu with a variety of items. Everything our party ordered was excellent & served hot out of the kitchen. Burgers, Steak Fajitas, Pizza, Sub, Kids Meal of Chicken Tenders and a few appetizers. My first trip to Marine City.. such a cute downtown area and it's nice to see people out enjoying themselves. I'd like to come back earlier in the day and check out a few of the other shops. Love the ambiance of this riverfront grill. The food is good, the drinks are good, the dessert is good the service is hit or miss. Ask to sit in Joys section she is one of the few good waitresses in the place. The deck is very nice in the summer and they have great pizza. We had a party of 3 and ordered Nachos, tacos and a BBQ chicken sub, drinks and artichoke dip with house made chips cost was just under $40. The nachos were perfect almost too much toppings; the jalapeños were perfectly chopped and the tomato was fresh! The Taco's had fresh shells and were packed with flavor. I didn't try the BBQ sandwich but he said it was delicious the sauce was not hot and had a good flavor not too sweet but just right with a hint of smoke flavor. Ya! Good. The dip was super yummy and again was a good portion size for two to three people. read more

I thought I reviewed this before. Nice place, needs a sign out front you can see from the road. Large menu, fish, steaks, burger and Mexican. I had the jumbo burrito this visit and it was excellent and sized just right. It's summer so we sat outside over looking the beautiful blue St. Clair River (actually it is a straight connecting Lake Huron to Lake St. Clair). Large place, three storefronts, long bar with excellent tap and the service is small town good! read more

Gonna give the benefit of the doubt on this one. Don't recommend the burrito. $13 for one to go. Fake processed liquid cheese, gross. Tossed it. Wouldn't let my mom eat it. Went to Taco Bell instead. Taste better and a whole lot cheaper. Not opposed to trying something else though. Maybe I will return. Some day. read more
