Finally made it here ! Made the drive for Sunday chicken dinner special. Great back in the day atmosphere. Something to see everywhere you look. Great waitress! There was four of us three ordered the perch. I ordered a double hamburger the perch had a lot of breading. The hamburger didn't have much flavor. It was OK, I would not go back there again. If I did, I'd try their chicken that's supposed to be good. I don't know. read more

We got take out from the neighborhood bar. We got their Sunday special which is 4 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, small roll and gravy. (They do charge a small takeout fee to cover supplies. One dinner comes in two boxes. No tableware was included, nor was asked if we needed. We didn't need so it was ok. But with being charged, I should be at least asked. No butter for roll. No salt/pepper or napkins. We also got deep fried mushrooms, as you know those can be iffy. They were delish. Came with ranch dressing. The food is plenty for a dinner and lunch next day. LARGE PORTION. I have included pictures of both. read more

We have been coming to this bar for year's. The fish is outstanding. It doesn't matter if you get the perch or the pickeral( walleye). The perch is good, but the waitstaff is very rude, I have been enjoying their fish for several years unfortunately we will not be returning any time soon, I don't need to be treated like a inconvenience to a moody waitress who's just looking for a cash tip. Wish I would have took the girls name who basically told us that even thou we arrived at 7:00 pm that we would not be able to order food because the kitchen closes at 9:00 pm, if you don't want to be nice to people you should not be a waitress!!! read more

I've seen sloppy drunks and junkies at this place many times, but the minute a pretty lady closes her eyes for a sec, and I mean about 3 seconds, the chubby bar tender said, "you're going to have to leave". Then when I questioned her, she got all butt-hurt and kept trying to escalate the situation. It's definitely a low class kinda place. Okay for a beer, but don't expect friendly service or good food. read more

This place was recommended to us by coworkers, so we went out of our way to give it a try. It's out in the middle of nowhere. It's nothing pretty or fancy. We waited for a table out in their patio, which wasn't too bad until some classy person whipped out their weed and stunk up the place. Once seated, we waited again for the waitress to take our order, waited some more and asked if they forgot us, as we noticed several couples who had been seated after us had already received their meals, eaten and paid. The waitress told us it was normal for there to be a 40-minute wait for the food to come out. Sure. We paid for our drinks and left. If you can tolerate horrible customer service and the obvious preferential treatment for their regulars versus new customers, this is the place for you. Otherwise, don't waste your time driving out there. read more

My parents had been raving about the chicken dinner for well over a year now. When I came to Michigan for a visit they insisted we go for chicken dinner. I'm not a big fan of fried chicken or a plate of carbs but I went. Holy geez! So amazingly good!! Everything was perfectly prepared. It wasn't overly salty or greasy. The chicken melted in my mouth. When the food arrived I was thinking there's no way I can eat all of that. Well, I did! Lol The price, quantity and service were excellent. One of my favorite hole in the walls in all of Southeast Michigan. Yeah, I hear that the decor is dated - but when you can see the entire carved front end of a legendary Long Gone Detroit Bar (the Brass Rail) as part of it, I forgive quickly. Everyone has talked about the perch, and yes it phenomenal. But if it's not Lent or your not feeling like a fish fry, I highly recommend the chicken and/or any of the sandwiches. Reuben was mentioned, but the Steak Sandwich (when the have it) will blow your socks off. Look, the Adair is what it is, isn't ashamed of it, and you shouldn't be either. Killer horse shoes, peel and eat shrimp, PBR, High Life and all the old favs - you half expect them to dig out the recipe for Pfeiffers for Christ's-sake. In short, if your a pretentious prick who holds their pinky in the air when they eat or hates orange-shellac-knotty pine-goodness, it ain't for you. I have been stopping here for lunch on and off for years. Just down the street from the Achatz Soup and Catering, Adair Bar is absolutely the best bar in downtown Adair! Paved parking off to the side and entrance there. Once inside, a large wood carving adorns the front wall (there used to be a front entrance until the wall carving was placed). Wild animal heads are mounted high on the walls throughout. A pool table sits off to the side of the dining area during the heavy meal times. Always good food here. I usually order something from the specials menu. Fish on Fridays, chicken dinners on Sundays, and good food always. Friendly staff, with efficient service. They can get you in and out in a timely manner. I ordered a roast beef and cheddar lunch special, it came with pickle slices and a small cole slaw on the side. My dining partners ordered a fish dinner and split it between the two of them. A pitcher of beer was used to wash everything down. Horseshoe pits out back for warm weather fun. read more

Co-workers sent me here for a purpose... to eat fish! I had to smile when we were escorted to our table by the waitress along with a MASSIVE squirt bottle full of tartar sauce. If that didn't shout out what we were supposed to order I don't know what would. I had the perch and my husband decided on the walleye. We were happy with our meal choice, but when we go back again we will both have the perch. It was well worth the drive to head here for an EARLY meal on a Friday. If you save space for dessert they serve the awesome Achatz pies here. We shared a slice of Lemon Meringue. I understand about the pandemic. But when a wAitress actually avoids you is another issue. She knew we were ready to order and continue walking to other tables to clear dishes, etc. Even after I told her the second time we were ready to order she continued to do other things. We have been going to Adair bar for their fish dinner for over twenty years. Have definitely noticed a change in wait staff. Tonight was the worst. We waited over an hour for our food. Food got delivered and the waitress never came back to our table only to give us our bill. Also noticed that the portion sizes are getting smaller. $17 for a perch dinner is a little high. Enjoy the fish dinner but the service needs to change. The pandemic is not the cause of someone being rude read more

Good spot for locals if you're into dive bars. The beer is always cold and great prices for drinks. Saturday is burger day. Pool tables are free which is hard to find in establishments, there are horse shoes and a bonfire pit. I think there are seasonal leagues for both pool and horse shoes. read more

This would definitely qualify as an "out-of-the-way" place. Located northeast of Detroit just off highway 94 on the way to Port Huron. Go on Friday - fish fry. Perch and Walleye are delicious, beer is cold, and the horseshoes out back competitive. This is a locals place. We went with a party of 11 and everyone was satisfied and very full. The prices reflect the Michigan economy so it's a bargain. The have a great selection of the old beers - PBR, Old Milwaukee, Miller High Life, etc. I'm also told the burgers are very good but have not tried them. Put on your tore up jeans, old t-shirt, and bring your appetite. read more

Friday night fish fry - don't go. The hostess staff was terrible. I asked twice to be put on the list when we walked in and twice was told they would be right with me. Then someone walked in after us and was put immediately on the list. Watch the hostess station or you will miss your seat. The kitchen staff leaves a lot to be desired. It took an hour to get our food. The fish may be good but the service leaves much to be desired. I wouldn't go back on a Friday, ever! read more

Thank you YELP. Went to the Adair for some fish but we were a bit early for the dinner menu. Our waitress informed us that they have $1.50 burgers up until 4, so its burgers we had. Yummy great bar burger, just right after a round of golf. onion rings were a pricey at $5 for premade frozen, which they overcooked as well as the fries being overcooked and hard, hence the 1 star deduction. Will be back for some fish or the chicken dinner on Sunday. read more

A plate of delishishness is the way to describe their perch. Yummy hot, moist and the way lake perch should be. Decor is super casual (think up north bar) but that adds to the whole vibe. Go early this place gets packed on the weekends, but it is worth the drive and the wait. Burgers are yummy too and we sometimes get both and split them. read more

He offered to give me another thigh, but I was already turned off and declined. They didn't take anything off the price of the meal. Our friend ordered the boneless wings and sent them back twice due to the terrible. They actually did take them off of her bill without question. My recommendation is to stick with the burgers and don't stray too far away from easy food to cook.

When you're charging $50/entree everything else has to be perfect. My husband and I can for date night, and the music was SO loud we couldn't even talk. The place is on the small side so there was no getting away from it. The wine list is just ok. The cocktails are good, not great. The bread is good. Now for the not so good. The dinner salad was like something my young child could have made. Romaine, two cherry tomatoes, and 2 slices of cucumber. That's it. French onion or mushroom soup (both delicious) are $8 up charge! My scallops tasted like ammonia, which if you google that like I did, it means they are spoiled. My husband had steak it was "meh." Third or fourth time we tried this place, always leaving less than thrilled unfortunately. Update: I did have food poisoning for almost 24h after eating the 2 1/2 scallops.
