    Fried Chicken

One of the best dive bars in the state. If you are in the area on a Sunday stop by for the chicken dinner, it is delicious! They have a fire with tables outside, along with horseshoes.

    Take out chicken dinner.

We got take out from the neighborhood bar. We got their Sunday special which is 4 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, small roll and gravy. (They do charge a small takeout fee to cover supplies. One dinner comes in two boxes. No tableware was included, nor was asked if we needed. We didn't need so it was ok. But with being charged, I should be at least asked. No butter for roll. No salt/pepper or napkins. We also got deep fried mushrooms, as you know those can be iffy. They were delish. Came with ranch dressing. The food is plenty for a dinner and lunch next day. LARGE PORTION. I have included pictures of both.

Prices are a little pricey for drinks. The wait staff is slow. I had to wave down the staff for attention.

First and foremost $$$$CASHONLY$$$$.... but. No fear they have an atm inside. They are well know for the perch dinner. It was good. The beer is cold and normal priced. Staff are nice. Not much more to say.

I visited Marine City for My Birthday and was given a suggestion from the owner of The Heather House B & B to enjoy My dinner here at Anita's Riverfront Grille on Tuesday 9/16. The name was previously Anita's Place and has changed to Anita's Riverfront Grille. Yes this restaurant has patio seating for a "Riverfront view" of freighters passing by on St. Clair River. Of course, I posted a photo of one. Your choice of Seating is at the bar, high top tables inside, dining room areas and outdoor patio seating overlooking the River in Marine City. What a great place overall from a Welcome Hello upon walking in, also a Thank You come again when leaving from the Bartender. Sorry I didn't catch her name but photo attached, with a Happy Attitude! :-) There's always signs posted outside and on their website for certain holiday celebrations from Spring till Fall and Monday PIZZA night. Food: American and Mexican, Pizza. Great presentation, Delicious flavor on sauce for fish tacos and plentiful add-ons. Several Cooks are talented. Menus Offered good prices on daily drinks and food specials. Service: My Waitress was very friendly and attentive. I noticed other servers were fast and efficient too when assisting their table customers. Ambiance: Welcoming, Relaxed, Great Music but not loud, variety of areas to dine so pick a spot according to staff. Lots to view throughout which I enjoyed with decor and the atmosphere was casual. I'll definitely stop back in Spring 2026 to taste their Famous PIZZA, sandwich wraps and Large Bowl of Michigan Salads that I peeked at when watching orders come out of the fast kitchen. "May All Employees" continue to Keep Up their Energy with Happy Hospitality, Super Chefs Cooking Great Menu Entrees, Fantastic Cocktails from Bar...All in Memory of Previous Owner Anita! That's how I'd describe Catch 22. This does not look like a cutting edge restaurant. It looks like the kind of restaurant your parents ate at in the 80s (and the kind I ate at in the 80s). That's not totally fair, because it does have a nautical charm that represents the community. But, of course, the food is what matters most. It starts right away with freshly baked bread (how many places since the 80s do that anymore?). It was served with a sweet butter, but they have no problem providing a regular butter. We were told the mushroom soup was good, but the waitress undersold it. It was rich and savory and flavorful, the kind of soup that makes you wish you were at home so you could lick the bowl. My wife was territorial about sharing her salmon, with good reason. This is a fishing community that prides itself on the quality of its seafood. I loved the flawless preparation of the sliver of salmon she reluctantly shared with me. I didn't mind because the ahi tuna was magical. I offered her some, but she was happy with her salmon. Her loss. I ordered it medium rare; I enjoy my tuna steak the way I enjoy my beef steak. And, this was a beautiful cut of tuna. It was encrusted in peppercorns and sesame seeds, giving it a little bite. Take that, Gordon Ramsay! I got it with a side of perfectly lumpy mashed potatoes, with robust dark gravy on the side. Combined with the tuna, it was a lot of food, but there was never any doubt I was going to eat every bit of it. I ordered a local brew, Anchor Bay Noble Mutt red ale. Not as malty as a typical red, which I enjoyed. It didn't interfere with the meal. The service was also very quick, and cheerfully rendered by our server. It's not cheap, but there's no way something that good should ever be cheap. We're already trying to figure out the next time we can come back here.

I've travelled quite a bit to Sarnia on business. I've heard from local colleagues that I should try Halibut House Fish and Chips. What drew me was the fact that they served haddock as one of the fish, and I have had fond memories of haddock fish fry. My colleague and I went there the other night and we really enjoyed our dinners. Both of us tried the haddock (and I also tried the cod which was also excellent). I loved the accompanying cole slaw which was not mayonnaise based, but vinegar based. The fish was a very large portion. It was not greasy (because they fried it at a high temperature), and it was flavorful. Lots of other places don't pay much attention to frequent change out of their fryer oils which take on a bitter taste and will be imparted to the food. That's because the structure of oil has changed from their use. This was not an issue at Halibut House. I didn't notice any after-taste. My compliments to the crew for paying attention to these details. The batter was very light and it complemented the fish, which was very fresh. As the frequency of my travel there is increasing, they can count on my future visits.
