I purchased my son a pair of shoes for back-to-school just three weeks ago, and within less than two weeks of normal wear, the shoes were completely shredded and falling apart. These were clearly defective shoes, not simply shoes that had been worn out over a long period of time. My husband and I went into the store right when they opened to see if we could exchange them for a different pair or receive a refund. We had the original box and proof of purchase with us. When we got to the counter, the older brunette employee looked at the shoes, gave me a dirty look, tossed them back into the box, and said, "We don't take worn shoes back." I understand that stores have policies regarding worn merchandise. However, my issue was that these shoes were purchased only three weeks ago and had fallen apart in less than two weeks because they were defective. I explained that to her and asked to speak with a manager. The manager was standing right there and was already being extremely rude on the phone with another customer. The cashier even said, "My manager is right here, and she is a very big stickler for the policy." At that point, I said I would wait to speak with her because I understood that determining whether a shoe is defective was up to management's discretion. Unfortunately, the manager didn't even properly examine the shoes. She immediately told me, "You don't have a receipt, and it's been worn. I'm not doing anything." I explained that I had proof of purchase and that the shoes were defective. She cut me off and repeated, "No, it's been worn. I won't do anything," while rolling her eyes. The entire interaction was rude, dismissive, and completely unacceptable. I wasn't asking for something unreasonable--I was asking for help with a pair of shoes that had literally fallen apart after less than two weeks. What is especially frustrating is that we came in first thing in the morning, had the original box, had proof of purchase, and were simply trying to resolve an obvious quality issue. Instead of even looking at the shoes or trying to help, we were treated like we were trying to return something we had intentionally ruined. I will not be shopping at DSW again, and I would caution others to think twice before purchasing shoes here, especially for children who wear their shoes every day. If something goes wrong with your purchase, don't expect much help from this location.

I found another pair that I liked and that were summery, but for the price I really didn't need just another pair of shoes. I was in the need of sandal so I perused the sandal selection. I haven't had cute sandals in years. I have functional hiking/water type shoes, The heavy duty type Teva and Keens, both great for hiking and water activities, but definitely not cute or sexy sandals. Now a days I need comfortable shoes for my old feet so it's hard to find something that will work for me. I picked up a pair of BIza sandals. I'm really hoping and crossing all my fingers and toes that they will be comfortable not just sitting around, but also walking. And that is the type of stores they have in the Fountains. I did se my older aunt wearing them so I'm hoping they aren't too old lady like. I want to still look young and fun even those I'm also getting up there in age.

Now I don't think I can even run a block so it's a little bittersweet... But alas, Fleet Feet has stayed consistently awesome all these decades later. Today we stopped by to inquire about new work shoes for my husband. He's been experiencing some foot discomfort so we thought maybe he needed new insoles and now maybe new shoes. Thought we'd also have him reevaluated for fit, to make sure his shoes were a good fit for his feet. When we walked in on Sunday early afternoon, we were greeted by around 6 employees and an empty store. Wow...Fleet Feet definitely wants to make sure they have enough employees for their customers' needs, which I respect. Brooke greeted us with a friendly smile and then made a big wave across the store and said, "You have the whole store to yourselves today!" :) For the next 15-20 minutes or so, we got to try on several pairs of running shoes, including ones by Brooks, Hoka, On Cloud and Altra. For each pair, Brooke would patiently take the shoe out of the box, loosen the shoelaces, place them on my husband's feet and then tie the shoelaces. I admired her patience. :) Brooke was so upbeat and knowledgeable about feet differences and knew the different features of the shoes. After stacking several boxes all around us, we had a couple pairs that we really liked, but they weren't available in the color we wanted. Brooke cheerfully said that she could help us order them or we could order them on our own online. We also learned that they don't earn commissions for sales, so I was even more amazed at how she remained so friendly and cheerful throughout the entire interaction. (I think I might have grumbled about taking all these boxes out, having to fix the shoelaces and put all the shoes back in boxes, then have to take them to the back of the store and reorganize them, hehe). We were totally impressed by Brooke and the professionalism she exhibited for Fleet Feet. They are definitely lucky to have an employee like her! If you've never been to a running store and had your feet/gait evaluated so you can find out if you overpronate, underpronate or have flat feet, you definitely need to stop by Fleet Feet to get a proper shoe fitting, especially if you're doing a lot of walking or running. (My Ironman coworker had instructed me to go to Fleet Feet and Running Warehouse/Zone back when I first started training for races and I'm so glad she pointed me in that direction!) Thanks again, Fleet Feet, for being in the area and being so knowledgeable about feet, shoes and running/walking!

But first a fun fact about me is that I'm a sneakerhead and I try to have as many colorways as possible of Dunk lows and Jordan 1 lows. So what I love about Finish Line is they just about always have amazing prices compared to other shoe stores in the Galleria. They are always my first stop when looking to add to my sneaker collection because they always have really good sales and really good variety of colorways in stock. I also find their employees are really great at a reliable friendly greeting and always ask you for help before you even realize you need it. My last visit I took my son, who was on leave from the Air Force and his Jordan 1s were looking bad so we went straight to The Finish Line and copped him a sick pair with a white and blue colorway. The clincher of the deal was they were $20 off regular price and so we bought them without hesitation. So in closing, I highly recommend if you're in the market for some Dunks or Jordan 1 lows, head on down to The Finish Line at the Roseville Galleria and I'm sure the friendly workers will take care of you.

But my son kept being asked if he wanted to see this sneaker or that sneaker in his size and he was like no. We had such a wonderful experience with Bella at Boot Barn! She was so happy, friendly, and genuinely helpful from the moment she started helping us. My husband was trying to find a particular pair of boots he loved, but the product number inside the boot was so worn that we could barely make it out. Bella didn't give up...she took the extra time to help us track down the exact right pair. That kind of customer service is hard to find these days! Ran over to the large higher end department store in the mall, found an Italian made shoe of the same type for 30% less. When staff brought it out, the toe of the shoe was uneven with a texture like orange peel or goose bumps on the toe. I asked to see another pair, but it was very crowded and he didn't have time. I decided to spend the extra. Upon returning and being fitted by Dylan, in close examination of the shoe, I saw a slight texture similar to what was on the less expensive shoe. In rechecking the display model, I saw it also had a similar slight texture. These are highly polished shoes, but I've never owed a pair, so I don't know if this is typical. I specifically wanted patent leather, rather than a man-made or plastic upper. Dylan was very patient and customer service focused. I decided to purchase the shoes and he offered to lace and polish them, which I appreciated and accepted. He was very thorough in the sales process: offering shoe trees, socks, etc. Excellent service all the way around.

He then says ok, and gives me a pair of composite toe boots with a heel hahaha. They absolutely do not care what people are there for, only interested in making a sale. I'm sure they won't be around for very long unless a new owner comes in and revamps the place.
