8/28/11 BEWARE! BEWARE! My daughter wanted a clarinet to rent for band in school. My in laws recommended boogie music so I gave them a call regarding the procedure to rent a instrument, over the phone they said they do not do credit checks witch was great because IM in the market of purchasing a home and did not want any inquires on my credit so I took a drive up there with my Kids after speaking with a store rep they said they would need my S.S. # I told him I would prefer not to provide that info, the rep said we do not run credit checks its just for collections while the owner of the store was standing there he said he dose run credit checks on certain people and he would need my S.S. # to do so or he would not rent to me and that hes not going to let me walk out paying twenty dollars for the rental and keeping a 500. hundred dollar instrument. insinuating as if I was planing on steeling because I did not want a credit check like they advertise on there website. My 8 year old was upset so I walked out ripping up the contract!! Someone this shady just to randomly judge people do not deserve my business. I've brought in two banjos for a full setup and compared to a big place like guitar center or Sam Ash, they definitely know their stuff! Just recently I bought a Deering Goodtime from a pawn shop. It looked like it was in great condition but sounded pretty bad. I thought it needed more than a set of strings so I brought it in so they could take a look. They ended up having to remove the neck, realign and reattach, plus ended up sanding the edges of the frets and did all of it for an extremely reasonable price. It sounds amazing now! I also go there for lessons and it's a great experience. I definitely recommend Boogie Music for a banjo player! read more

These guys are great. They know their stuff and will match prices with the big dealers. They'll also honor sales and coupons. Why buy from corporate idiots when you can support local mom and pop stores like this They also do great set ups. I've been in music from many different angles starting in the mid 80's. I'm not an 80's rocker but, just to give my background I've spent well over 200k on gear and equipment over the years. I bought my first real drum set from Boogie in 92 and have been a fan of their service and personnel ever since. I recommend them over the bigger music stores simply for the interaction that you receive there. At the bigger stores you are really just a sale and not a customer. The staff at Boogie treats you like a client, someone they want to retain for years to come. If you haven't been by their store before give them a try you won't be disappointed. read more

Have visited at least 5 times in the past couple of years. A couple times to get repairs on my sons' clarinet and the rest for various supplies. The store has been around for years and the owners are almost always there and are knowlegeable and helpful. Love to give business to and support a locally owned shop! Instruments are usually sent offsite for repairs so be sure to clarify when it will be back if you leave it for service. read more

I have shopped at Boogie for years and have recommended them in the past. That changed after my last experience. I went in to have my violin bows rehaired. The younger gentleman with dark hair had helped me in the past and was in the process of helping me when an older male employee rudely interrupted, took the bow, started talking over me when I had a question, and was trying to force me to buy a cheap bow. I was caught off guard by his abrasive manner and eventually had to ask him to quit interrupting me and let me finish what I was saying. His tone and manner of speaking was abrupt, condescending, and rude. In order to get out of there I told him I would think about it and come back another time, when in reality Boogie Music has lost a faithful customer. read more

I stopped here on a whim after being so disappointed at what Guitar Center and Sam Ash had to offer as far as Travel Guitars are concerned. I was surprised to see Frank working at Boogie as I remembered him from NoteWorks on 16th & Bell all those years ago. He's a nice, knowledgable guy and very easy to talk with. I found the perfect Travel Guitar there. Taylor Gs Mini. The guitar had very nice action right off the wall and they had a tech there ( wish I could remember his name) who tweaked it just right while I was there. The price of this Taylor was actually about about $30 cheaper than anything online or at the big stores and they included a nice humidifier. Guitar plays perfect..I love it! They have all kinds of cool guitars and amps all over the place! Don't let the look of the place from the street fool you..this is a first rate Music Store and I wish we had more of them here in AZ. read more

My 10 year old son and his stepfather went and bought a acoustic guitar and literally was sold a piece of junk. Being a professional musician and very passionate about guitar playing. I was told by the salesman what did I expect for the "dollar amount " which is very condescending . The only reason I go to Boogie Music is for the absolutely wonderful work the Luthier, Brent does on my guitars at a very reasonable price. He gets 5 stars!!! Also the instructors are very good, at least I can say that for the guitar instructors. Now the reason for the rating. They have poor selection and fairly high prices. As far as guitars go, they only stock Taylor guitars (which are very good). Go try them there and find a better price on line. They do have some electrics, but mostly used or consignment. Now, the number one reason for the poor review is the owner. I give him a rating of ONE! To say this man is unpleasant, is being generous. He doesn't want to answer or makes you wait for the simplest of question. He can't handle more the one thing at a time. He will not let you see or talk to the other staff in the shop. Just today I picked up a couple of guitars I had work done on. The luthier was out. I said OK and paid for the work and took my guitars. I got home check them over and all was perfect. I wanted to call the shop and thank Brent personally for the fine work. The owner answered the phone and I asked to speak to Brent. He said, he's to busy and we are taking all calls for him. Didn't ask if I could leave a number and have him call me back. No pleasantries of any kind and would not let me speak with him, period! No other options where given to me. I have been going there because of the luthier for over two years now. I stopped going for months because I didn't want to run into to the owner. So my suggestion is, if you want great work done on your guitar and can avoid the owner, go. Otherwise find somewhere else. All the other staff is quite pleasant. Unfortunately I will have to find another place to go. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of altitude and service from this person. read more

these guys are great! not only did the tech set up my guitar, he went through all the electonics, polish3d and clean my insturment and gave me knowlage on how to set it up my self. plus, he was waaaay cheaper than guitar center!!! customer service was awsome, no pure presure sales or pushing the house brand on me. very knowlageable. frank is a great guy (front desk) and brent the guitar tech is bar non the best in az. dont spend ur money anywhere else. if you want a zero ego, down 5o business knowlageable staff and friendly... this is it! thanks again guys!!! read more

Well, I give the store a -1 score because the owner treated us like we were there to rip him off and didn't give a darn about our child not being able to carry the heavy case included in the rental. He insisted in talking over me, interrupting and verbally pushed us around like a bully. We were there to rent a drum and wanted a soft, backpack type of carrier. He went on for 5 minutes about how the kids ruin them and it costs him $80 to replace each one every year. When we finally got a word in edgewise that my 10 year old couldn't carry the case and drum because it is too heavy, he started ranting AGAIN how it costs him $80 to replace them. I told him that I don't care about his $80, but that I'm concerned about my son's ability to carry the instrument and ENOUGH about his money!! He continued to be rude and we left tearing up the contract as we walked out the door. NEVER again would I step foot into that store. Shame on that guy for treating people like criminals and idiots. read more

I've been frequenting Boogie Music since the late 1990's and their service has been consistently fantastic. I recently got back into playing guitar and making music after being away from it for nearly five years and decided to go back to Boogie Music to get my gear set up and to get some new items. Not only was I happy that they still had an excellent selection of instruments, accessories and still actually give reasonable money for trade-ins, they actually remembered me! Their technician/repair (re-strings, tune-ups, etc.) department is the absolute best in the valley and is very affordable. The staff are friendly, helpful, and, unlike what I've experienced at most of the chain stores around the Phoenix area, they're very knowledgeable. I believe they also match prices so even if someone else has what you're looking for at a lower price, give Boogie a chance. You'll not only get the same product, you'll also get better customer service which always helps out in the long run. You wont be disappointed. As far as musician services are concerned, this place is by far the best in the state. read more

Before going to Boogie, I went to another music store fully intending to leave with a guitar but while I was in the store they didn't really seem to notice me or care if I was there or not. I looked around a bit, but knowing that this was a major purchase for me, I decided to make the hour + drive to Boogie and see how it went. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and the young man asked how he could help me. I told him I was interest in a Taylor and he said here they are, look around and see what you like while I send someone over. A couple minutes later, their guitar tech(I think he said Brent) came in and covered all the models with me, the differences etc. he was patient and answered all my questions no matter how dumb they were. I am admittedly no guitar expert. The whole time he was helping me he was also bouncing back and forth helping other customers. Pretty soon Clint came in and took over. He picked up right where Brent left off and had the same demeanor. Friendly, knowledgeable and patient. At no time did they push me toward this model or the next and at no time did they try and "sell" me anything. They helped me to make a decision that I was comfortable with and pick the one I liked best. So, I bought the guitar. Then Clint spent probably the next 20 or more minutes covering every aspect of caring for the guitar and WHY each step it is important. For me, this was a major purchase (dollars wise), and I left the store happy with it. I am glad that I made the drive and gave my business to Boogie- I would recommend them to anyone! read more
