Last night around 7 me and my family went to Bonzer Shack for dinner. We put our name on a waitlist and after about 30 minutes the man hosting outside called our name and we sat in a picnic table. Immediately after sitting kids start running around our table and throwing sand everywhere. The host then came out and explained to the parents that there were other families dining around them and their kids couldn't be running around disturbing other customers. The parents ignored them and the kids continued to disturb other people. The host then came over again and explained the same thing only to be yelled at by parents, the family soon left after being completely disrespectful to the host. The situation was handled very professionally and am thankful that he intervened. I feel so bad for him! On a side note the queso and fish tacos were very good! :) read more

We stopped by this restaurant while on our honeymoon over the weekend. We really enjoyed our time. Hostess/waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the cozy feel inside too. All of the surf themed stuff everywhere was cool to look at while eating. read more

It was okay. No crabbie patties- they said crab is too expensive right now. Mahi tacos were very well made. Only lightly coated in batter and the fish was juicy. Flour tortillas were super dry and the cabbage was you know cabbage. The sauce was like any other spicy mayo junk. It came with very boring and dry rice and beans. Husband's burger was nothing special but the smoked gouda ($1 more) and bacon ($1.25 more) helped out the beef patty that tasted like it was cooked from frozen. He did not finish his fries but if you like battered fries you will love these. Japps (Jalapeno apps) were described as baked but they had a "boiled" consistency- the cream cheese filling was delicious if you can get past the soggy peppers. Not a very welcoming place - you order at the bar, you pick up your own food in to go containers and you seat yourself. So yeah - maybe if you drink more it will seem cooler? My dad and I decided to try out the Bonzer Shack for a late lunch. We were not disappointed. Fried green tomato BLT, good lord, it was so good! The Gouda grit cake, ehhh, not a fan! Very bland. But everything else we ate was really good. I would definitely return. The place is clean, the staff is super friendly, and the decor is very beachy. Can't wait to go back! read more

Eaters beware!!!!!! Fiancé went to use restroom and cook was in the bathroom using the stall, cook proceeded to use restroom, walked straight out back to the kitchen WITHOUT washing hands. We watched him from bar in the kitchen and he did NOT wash his hands there either; meanwhile touching plates, brining food to tables, and using bare dirty hands to get tortilla chips and plating them. We decided to visit last night and we were turned away because our party of 15 was too large. We offered to break up the group into smaller families. They still refused to seat and serve us. The excuse was that they were a small operation and couldn't handle our size. What didn't make sense is people kept coming in same smaller groups they said they couldn't cater too. Amazing BBQ shrimp! Description says they're skewer but they aren't served on a skewer. The veggies were grilled zucchini and squash. Other reviewers rave about the grit cake but for me is was just ok. And I love grits. My husband got Cobia, which was a special. Said it was very good but very spicy. Even the chutney that came with it was spicy. He also got the grilled veggies. Good portions- left full but not overly. read more

Granted I was there in April which could be the off season but I went looking for a vegan option and the black bean burger was well seasoned and the plantain appetizer with the curry dipping sauce was good. Stopped in for lunch. Very happy with our food. Got the chicken tacos which were yummy. They were just the right blend of hot and sweet. The chicken itself was a tad dry but the cucumber salad they put on top helped and I loved the little kick of sour from it. My daughter got the pimento burger and devoured it. We did not have a good experience. Service was incredibly slow, the restaurant smelled of dirty dish water. My husbands dinner was way undercooked chicken. We have been here in past years and it was the best. It is just not what it used to be. The menu has been adjusted to where prices are just too high for what you are getting. My shrimp tacos came with 2 tacos, each had 2 shrimp each in them, nothing else. No slaw. No sauce. Nothing. And they were $18. Prices are increasing everywhere, so it's expected, but this was over the top. 1 drink, 2 "entrées", no sides, the bean dip.. $75. That is insane. Dont waste your time, Go to Bernies. read more

Cool little place. I don't recommend getting burgers or wings. We had 3 burgers and an order of wings and they were black. They don't allow you to choose how it's cooked so unless burnt to a crisp is your thing, I'd avoid. Server was very nice and crab patty was good. Fries are super good. read more

Came here for dinner just before 9pm listing says it's open until 2am. Bartender met us at the door and told us the kitchen was closed. Place was filled with locals, and before we even got to the car, my husband immediately got the feeling we weren't welcome there. If your kitchen truly does close, it should be posted clearly. read more
