The 5 stars is based on getting there for happy hour. For normal prices, I would go 4 stars because it is higher priced. The food is good and they do have seared ahi which is a benefit. We went there for end of school/summer. The seared ahi (see photo) and sushi was overall very good. Chicken katsu was not bad for the mainland, not too too heavy on the breading (see photo). Tataki salad was great with 6 solid pieces of seared ahi (see photo). Korean BBQ beef appetizer was good size but could have used a bit more sauce. Chimichanga roll was good as well. We use to go to the spot alllllll the time! We actually use to live across the street! This was one of our main go to happy hour places because on Sunday they have all day happy hour. Well now we moved about 30-35 minutes away. Yesterday we decided to make the drive, and we when sat down we immediately knew a lot has changed since we been there. The menus were completely different, they the vibe was different, they went from having HUGE happy hour selection to only have 5 rolls on there. They use to have the most delicious wagyu burger I mean it was chef kiss and it's also gone, prices sky rocked. Have you ever been so excited to go somewhere or to eat something and then when you get there it's not want you were expecting and it completely throws off your taste buds? I really didn't even want to eat there any more but we made the drive and stayed to eat. Also the waiter was kind of arguing with us about the burger and told us we had the wrong restaurant. No sir. Came here for my husbands birthday after other dinner plans went sideways. Absolutely wonderful experience! The restaurant was clean, offered multiple seating arrangements and options. Everything was lit intimately and was well presented. The food was wonderful as was the service staff. Try the Diablo roll it was our favorite! This place books up fast so.i highly recommend making a reservation. We went for the half off sushi .and happy hour. Happy hour really wasn't much just 2 dollars off some.drinks and some discounted sushi and appetizers. The drink menu has a variety of beers, cocktails, and wines. On Mondays sushi is half off as well. The list has a variety of different sushi choices but I was dissapointed to see majority of then had something spicy with them. For a Saturday afternoon, I was shocked it was not a heavier crowd for lunch hour, especially being situated right across from a condo complex. But, this is also in a newer developing area, so I do think traffic will double in the next 6 months. A girlfriend suggested we meet here for lunch- glad she did! We first went inside but the atmosphere was more a "dinner" vibe with it being darker, more intimate. It was a gorgeous day so we opted for the patio. And, the patio is very comfortable- umbrellas, cushions, looks like heating/misting when necessary. Promptly seated (or, told to seat ourselves). We were attended to swiftly. I liked the "whiteboard" style menu. Very easy. Lots of great options to choose from. But, the water provided was gross. No ice provided, just a jar of what tasted like dishwater. No straws, just gross. So, we were relieved to see dishes & utensils are provided. The sushi was really good! The presentation was perfect, quantity up to par & quality definitely social media worthy. Most important: the flavor delivered. We each ordered one roll personal + one to split & try something new. We loved each roll ordered. I opted for a cocktail and enjoyed it- not too strong but not at all lacking. I cannot recall the name (it was THAT good) but listed on their menu! Only thing I'll comment on in a lesser light is after we got the check- the service totally disappeared. Not that it was expected we be waited on hand & foot... but for a very slow afternoon it would have been nice to get a water refill. One of the better places I've been to. There's a lot more on the menu I'd like to try! And I think I'll see what the difference is choosing to dine inside next round. But, this was a great place to sit & enjoy the gorgeous weather with some good food & drink! I'll come back for another round for sure wether it be inside or out. Overall it was a nice offering & I love where they're located because there's no traffic noise! We come here quite frequently when we are craving good sushi but are starting to come less and less due to price. We love the atmosphere and the menu but again, pricing is becoming outrageous. Just placed an order to go and paid $77 for four rolls and a side of chicken fried rice. $77!!! They started charging a to-go surcharge as well as hike up their prices for to go orders (if you look at their menu online there is their regular menu and then a to-go menu in which prices are significantly different) which I have never heard happen at places. This is the last time I'll be ordering for a while. Ridiculous. read more

We came in as a party of three and it was already getting really busy so we were happy there was a table available This is about 6 PM (reservations accepted ) so we were excited to have our meal and try Rock Lobster. Our waiter's name was Michael and he handled everything that we needed. He even made our drinks custom and perfectly and he offered suggestions and got us excited about a meal we've never tried before. Last time I will be visiting Rock Lobster. We were promised a heater if we sat on the patio, so agreed. Once seated the waitress told us the table behind us was going to leave soon, and once they were gone we could have that heater. Once they left another waiter- MIKE- took that heater to a table of 3 people that already HAD a heater on them. When I let him know it was promised to us, he said SH*T then just moved it over anyway. There were almost more heaters than people on the patio but they didn't work- except the 2 on the table of 3, and 1 all the way on the other side of the patio. I just spend 55 dollars I ordered the albacore tuna nigiri and the coconut shrimp Edamame and a crunch roll. Seems a little expensive considering the tuna was terrible smelled so bad! This place is really cute inside and on the patio! We typically sit up at the sushi bar since we like chatting with everyone! They also have a Teppan table as well which can also be a lot fun! Rock Lobster has a pretty great happy hour! They have specials on both food and drinks with plenty of options for both! We ordered the Cowboy Roll and Tataki Roll along with Calamari and House Salad. We added slivers of lemon on our sushi and gotta add that jalapeño spice!! Everything we've had there always tastes really fresh and delicious. I love the firecracker sauce that comes with the calamari... I even dipped my sushi in there! Another food item I absolutely love there, funny enough, is the Asian wings! First of all I should say that the food was actually average. Not great not bad. But not worth teppanyaki prices. The place was dirty and disorganized. It was also dark and hot. Like they are trying to save on their electric bill. You would also think they could afford to put some ice in their drinks. When the bill came there was a 3% surcharge for Prop 206. If an operator needs to charge more to cover their costs it should be priced in. This is nothing but a whinny employer trying to pad an extra 3% on their pricing without telling the customer up front. They don't tack 3% on for credit card payments, 2% for their electric bill or 10% for their last rent increase. This is a political statement and if you want to politicize your business I'm not interested is being a customer. It's bad enough we tip servers because in our history restaurant's could get free labor. I don't form lasting relationships with people or businesses that deceive me. One and done. Fine Japanese craftsmanship would be a good description for the sushi rolls. I loved the taste, texture, and even the bright colors on my plates. They worked well together. In fact, the presentation was perfect. I would have to rank these as some of the meatiest sushi rolls I have had. In particular the salmon roll and tuna roll were amazing. Exactly what I wanted. Service was super fast and efficient. I'd say this was one of the fastest table service at a sushi restaurant that I've ever had. And this is not my first time having sushi. A shout out to Shay, she was my server. There's plenty of convenient parking off street parking spaces. I would classify the decor as contemporary, Asian, hipster. We got several rolls, including, spicy tuna, spicy salmon & cowgirl. The spicy tuna and salmon was not spicy. The rolls were small, which is okay if they are bounding with flavor, but they were not. Flavor was very bland. Staff was very unprofessional. People were wondering in the dinning room with their friends, then casually walking behind the sushi bar helping out. Server was polite, but very inattentive. The worse part was how dirty the place was. The bar wasn't clean. The glass displays between the sushi bar and the customer counter were dusty. Rock lobster I definitely enjoyed the specialty rolls here. We got the dragon roll, popping and a few others. The nigiri butterfish was amazing, I highly recommend this!
