White Lotus Martini (Happy Hour $6) and Blue Point Oysters (Happy Hour $3)

We came in for happy hour during the week. Happy hour is from 4pm-6pm Tuesday-Friday as of 4-2026. The restaurant offers inside and outside seating. The inside of the restaurant feels spacious, clean, has a modern vibe and their music selection is heavily Justin Timberlake. No issues with JT but it caught our attention. If you would like Chopsticks you will need to request them and they will bring them to you in a display box and you pick your pair. Our server Melanie was friendly and tried to make our dining experience as pleasant as she could. I would like to provide the feedback about the delivery of the food to our table because I would have enjoyed the dining experience a more if the food would have came out in a timely manner. One of my friends was among the first to place her order first for Spicy Tuna Roll and the our other friends ordered and received their food before her. She didn't received her food until we informed our server. The same thing happened with my order of the Bonsai Fries. The items were brought out, our server did apologize and informed us they would be removed from our bill. I also place a second order of the Vegas rolls and never received them but we were done with our meals therefore I did not inform our server. If this process could be reviewed and improved then it would make a difference in the customer experience. I ordered the following items during happy hour: Vegas Rolls $9 Spicy Tuna Roll $6 Bonsai Fries $9 Blue Point Oysters $3 Cherry Blossom $6 White Lotus Martini $6 The food was good except for the Bonsai Fries. Our server described them as having wasabi topping and I imagined them like an animal style fries but they were just fries with hints of wasabi. The happy hour sushi tasted okay but I would be open to trying the sushi on their regular menu. Happy Hour drinks tasted great!

Excellent reboot of one of our favorite sushi and Japanese restaurant in Chandler. The menu is fantastic with an excellent variety that fits every pallet. Highly recommend the Lobster potstickers. The service was attentive and on point. Very friendly and professional servers. Finally, fried ice cream is a must!!

Deal right now while the restaurant is under some construction they have BOGO rolls! The rolls were filling and delicious! My favorite were the Yummy Roll, Lollipop Roll, and Surfer Roll. The Alaskan roll was really good too, but the other rolls were just so good. The salmon was super fresh. The surfer roll was super filling and big. Portions sizes are great. Service was amazing. The place looks super nice and looks like when construction finishes, outdoor seating will be available.

Came here during a buy one get one offer and it did not disappoint. Ordering was quick and easy. Indoors is one of the nicest decorated restaurants in the area. Tall ceilings and warm lights. Order: *yummy 4/5. If you like cucumber wrapped rolls *lollipop - 4/5. Presentation is notable *surfer -5/5. Very sizable and lots of shrimp *Alaskan -5/5. lots of salmon on top

Love this sushi spot. Been coming here for over 3 years. They've recently gotten new management, but service is still great. Wish they kept some of their specials from previous ownership. Will be back again They do have two small t.v.s that play above the sushi bar. They also have booth and table seating. They also have an outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice.

Because sushi is one of my absolute faves, it's such a disappointment when I get subpar sushi. The last time I was here was pre-covid, so I figured it was time to try again and instantly regretted it as soon as I tasted the fishy rolls. We ordered 4 rolls: cowboy- spicy tuna topped with tuna sashimi with spicy aioli and sriracha, cowgirl- spicy yellowtail topped with yellowtail sashimi with spicy aioli and sriracha, spicy tuna roll, and yellowtail roll. I Immediately noticed how loose the rolls were! It looked very amateurish and the tuna and yellowtail sashimi on top of the rolls were so tiny! The most important of all, the taste of the rolls, was not good at all. Everything tasted fishy that no amount of aioli or sriracha could hide. Honestly, quality would've been better off at an AYCE. We ended up eating less than half and took the rest home as I hate wasting food. Well, I just could not get myself to eat the rest and ended up tossing it anyway:( Service was very lacking just like the food. The server was not friendly at all and acted as if he was being bothered. It was probably the worst service I've experienced in a very long time. I guess there was a good reason why I hadn't been here in so long.

I was looking forward to dining here as it was my first time here and unfortunately it was very disappointing. We ordered 4 different rolls and they all tasted fishy and there was so much sauce on the rolls that after a while everything started to taste the same. The tuna and yellowtail on top of the rolls were ridiculously tiny! It was actually quite surprising to get such poor quality food especially for what they charge. On top of lacking quality and overpriced food, customer service was no existent. Pretty sure I will not be returning here.

Daughters with their moms. First time for moms to meet one another. Food was FABULOUS and the Martinis were Stellar!

I may not be able to eat sushi anywhere else after this!…read more I came for the Restaurant Week lunch deal and am so glad I finally made it here. Everything from service to ambiance to food was excellent. And I love that they brought lunch service back to this location! Friday, Saturday, Sunday only and still make a reservation! It was busy! I wanted something fun to drink but non-alcoholic, so the bartender stopped by to help me decide. I got the Miso Sour and it was so good! This had a nice balance of flavors. I started with the Hamachi Crudo which has grapefruit ponzu, lemon mayo, Serrano pepper, and thin cucumber slices. This was so good! Refreshing with just the right amount of spice. Next I enjoyed chopped salad and miso. The salad was very fresh and had a variety of goodies including edamame, purple cabbage, and avocado. The miso is so good!! It was delicate and yet so flavorful. I chose the Yuzu tuna roll option which has spicy tuna and avocado inside, with big eye tuna on top, garnished with micro cilantro, red onion, and yuzu. This was so good! I also thought their ginger stood out - I would bet they make this in house. I can see why this always has such great reviews!

My boyfriend and I came to Shimogamo for Mother's Day and ordered the five-course meal. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing compared to our previous visit. The biggest issue was the service. Our waitress, an older woman, came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude throughout the evening. When we were seated, she offered complimentary rosé. I accepted a glass, but my boyfriend does not drink alcohol, so he politely asked if he could order a mocktail instead. Before he could even finish, she abruptly responded, "No, you can wait to place an order for that," as if he was trying to substitute the complimentary drink, which he was not. He was simply trying to order a beverage. Later, when the braised beef course was served, my boyfriend politely asked if he could have a spoon or fork. The waitress loudly repeated "A SPOON?" in a mocking tone in front of nearby guests, which made the interaction uncomfortable and embarrassing. As for the food, the five-course menu was average at best and far below what we expected from Shimogamo. The salmon tartare and sushi course were both excellent and showed the quality we remembered from our first visit. However, the remaining courses fell flat. The fried branzino was dry and seemed poorly prepared, despite the promising flavors of capers and cream sauce. The braised short rib felt completely out of place on the menu and lacked refinement it was dry, heavy, and more reminiscent of a chain steakhouse meal than an upscale dining experience. The entire dinner also felt rushed, with little attention to pacing or hospitality. What makes this especially disappointing is that we dined here back in November on a double date and had an incredible experience. We spent over $600 that evening, and the service and food were exceptional. Our waitress at that time was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She guided us through recommendations, and every dish impressed us. That's why this visit was so surprising. Shimogamo clearly has the ability to provide an outstanding dining experience, which makes the decline in both service and execution even more concerning. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because this restaurant was once one of our favorites.

The restaurant is fairly large, and seems like a lot of people like coming here for family/friend dinners. Like the name insists, the teppanyaki is the way to go. Their menu isn't that large, so it was pretty easy to make a decision. I opted for the filet mignon (rare) along with shrimp. Teppanyaki is really more of a show/experience, so the food comes out to you in sections (versus all at once like at a traditional restaurant). The filet was so soft, and was perfectly rare, and the shrimp was so good. I think in the future I'd eat a whole plate of shrimp. I also got to try the yakiniku, and that was also pretty good but very sweet. Their Boo Yah Ka roll was also pretty yummy. It's essentially a spring roll, but with some spice and citrus to it. I felt that the portion was good for a large meal, but my friend who got the chef's combo definitely had enough for leftovers.

While we were waiting they sat another 4 with us. We all expected dinner & a "show", but none of us expected the show we got. One of the staff started screaming at another staff member. We had no idea what the female staff member was saying since her words were not in English. She was so loud & screaming in the bar area so the entire restaurant could hear her. A couple of staff members tried to claim her dow. This went on for several minutes. It was crazy. All us customers were silent & just looking at the girl screaming & yelling. The next thing we know, round two. It was unbelievable. What was even crazier was they didn't send the staff member home! No one came over & said a word. No one apologized or said anything. After all of this, they sat couple with us. Finally the chef came to the table. By this time it was 20 til 6:00. Hubby got the filet with fried rice. I got the shrimp with fried rice. The food was good. However, hubby's steak was over cooked. Thankfully, hubby told the chef he wanted to change the steak from medium to medium rare, or it would have been even more over cooked. I also watch all of the employees but one prepping the food without gloves. This used to be our go to place for, but now with all this issues this time, we will probably have to find a new place.
