    Pan-Asian Butterfish
    David O.

Dinner tonight started a little off - showed up on time for reservations made several weeks before. Young man was so soft spoken that it seemed like he didn't care about dealing with us. After stating our name, reservation time and size of party multiple times, he woke up and asked if we were here for the event? (Turns out they were having a wine dinner). We reiterated that no, we had reservations for the two of us for dinner. He seemed confused and said he thought we wanted to join the party. Another young lady pointed out something on their system and we were placed at a table right next to the large party - not ideal, but what can you do? Our waitress, Merideth, was excellent and explained the menu well, highlighting the various specials and answered all our questions. The complimentary bread with accompanying herbed oil was fresh and delightful. My Pan-Asian Butterfish was fantastic, and the spinach was cooked beautifully (so easy to overcook!). Wife had the special, Unicorn fish, as we had never had this before. Good and well cooked. But not our favorite. Her asparagus, however, was steamed, bland and extremely overcooked. I definitely won! Nice enough meal, and decent enough options, but a little pricy for what you receive.

    Wild Flower Martini (summer special)

The staff here is very friendly and the food was great! We had to change our reservation time and they were responsive and updated it easily for us. Our waitress was very friendly and quick. She made sure we didn't need anything. We ordered a slice of key lime cake to take home, and it was brought out with the check- perfect timing. The wild flower martini was fresh and sweet tasting. The sparkling wine in it was poured at the table, which gave it a little show. The blackened shrimp with mexican street corn is my new favorite entree, which is unfortunate because it is a seasonal dish for summer. The corn was so creamy and there was just a hint of spice. It even still tasted good reheated the next day!

What better than to be surrounded by quotes and eat great food. Such a novel idea (pun intended)…read morefor a restaurant. The entire place has quotes posted all over. My obsession with quotes started in high school where I would scribble them all over my notebooks and folders. So in honor of my bday weekend, my inner teen got a gift too. Additionally there are cute cards on the table with riddles/ conversation starters and court cases that the table can discuss and try and guess the ruling. The food. Admittedly, we came here for the quotes and the apple nachos so I can't speak much to the food other than we split some fried ravioli, a rack of ribs and a side of mac & cheese that were absolutely delightful. As for those apple nachos, they almost hit the perfect mark and could've done so with a drizzle of caramel. Our waiter was eager to accommodate us and grab us some caramel, but we told him never mind just a suggestion to the Chef. The ribs were cooked perfectly fall off the bone with not too much sauce and that mac & cheese was divine. Service was on point, food delicious, and ambience - perfection. Highly recommend, especially if you're vacationing in Williamsburg it is a unique treat that you won't find anywhere else.

Our server , Eric, was super friendly and helpful with the menu. Food came out really fast. Stuffed mushrooms were the bomb. Not only was the ribs delicious but the meat fell off the bone. The crab grilled cheese sandwich was awesome. The shrimp chowder was okay. What turned this review from 4 to 5 was the bread pudding. To die for. Right amount of sweetness and topped with ice cream. The beer flight of local beers was fun.

We ordered a Diners burger, Virginia burger, and house wings. The Burgers were borderline inedible due to the huge amount of salt. If i had been dining in I would have sent it back. I would not feed that much salted meat to my dog. The burgers dampness also had literally demolished the lower bun and iceberg lettuce. So i had to disgard those sodding blobs. The Virginian burger also salty, and the crab cake, small and underwhelming. The Chicken wings tasteless and dry. On too of this i had no choice but to pay a 10% tip for "take out prepare ". If i can give zero i would. Id say "fire the chef"

We also split the pimento cheese with freshly fried pita chips. They make the pimento cheese and house and you can tell for sure! It always sucks to have to write a tough review for a place that does seem to try so hard…read more Unfortunately, the food here really has much room for improvement. Let's start with the good. There's plenty of parking and the ambiance of this place is memorable, in a really dated (like borderline cheesy nautical decor) 80's kind of way. This place is also insanely dark, which seems to try and convey a romantic atmosphere, but it's just plain dark if you ask me. Now sadly, the food really is, for lack of a better word, pretty bad across the board. If there's anything on the menu you should stay the hell away from, it's definitely the French onion soup. The soup itself was so salty, it was absolutely inedible. It was promptly sent back and replaced with a clam chowder, which was on the other end of the spectrum - totally bland and absolutely devoid of any meaningful flavor. The entrees were no better. The stuffed flounder was expensive but tasted nowhere close to the price tag. The fish, like the chowder, was completely devoid of flavor and was not seasoned. The crab stuffing was mushy and not appetizing. Generally speaking, there was nothing appetizing about the meal, including the palate cleanser, which had no discernible taste as well (even though it was supposed to be some kind of lime sherbet of sorts). Again, this place tries hard to be upscale, but absolutely falls flat on the food. Even the rolls and opening weird coffee cake like kind of bread they serve were bland or tasted off. The service was also spotty and confusing all night. Our server was friendly and did do her best to keep up, but generally the food took a long time and it took 20 minutes to even get water. At least the host was friendly and the staff in general did seem to try their best despite being not up to par to the kind of upscale experience they try to emulate. At least the meal ended alright. The flambe dessert (I chose peach) was a nice little show, mostly because this old fashioned dated experience is literally nowhere to be seen in the NYC area these days, so it was nice to sort of relive a cheesy memory. The taste of the dessert was also a nice throwback to older times, though I'm not sure if this was meant to be an actual nostalgia trip here. In the end, given the presence of better dining options close by, I'd say you're better off going somewhere else.
