Food and service are normally good at this restaurant but we had a different level of experience. There was a computer malfunction the day we went and I wound up paying cash. The issue was my card was swiped and the meal was charged twice. The restaurant removed one charge but had difficulty removing the second. Rather than become frustrated the manager Bridget proposed we come back for lunch or dinner to offset the charge. I look at this as a manager being creative in solving a customer issue and everything worked. This review is for brunch. Let me make this easy- Don't do it. Ordered cocktails and was served, what they called, a maple old fashioned but was informed they were "out of bitters" The crème brûlée French toast was a French toast with torbinadoo sugar dumped on top. The selection of brunch items was tiny and nothing anyone got at our table was particularly good. They service was fine. Looked nothing like the on line picture (ours were very tiny) and didn't have the usual spicy bang bang sauce. Not sure if this was because it was half price night on the shrimp or what. Dinner tonight started a little off - showed up on time for reservations made several weeks before. Young man was so soft spoken that it seemed like he didn't care about dealing with us. After stating our name, reservation time and size of party multiple times, he woke up and asked if we were here for the event? (Turns out they were having a wine dinner). We reiterated that no, we had reservations for the two of us for dinner. He seemed confused and said he thought we wanted to join the party. Another young lady pointed out something on their system and we were placed at a table right next to the large party - not ideal, but what can you do? Our waitress, Merideth, was excellent and explained the menu well, highlighting the various specials and answered all our questions. The complimentary bread with accompanying herbed oil was fresh and delightful. My Pan-Asian Butterfish was fantastic, and the spinach was cooked beautifully (so easy to overcook!). Bad service and they don't seem to want our business. If you make reservations at this restaurant, they will not seat you if you arrive 7 minutes before your reserved time. Even though there are only two tables filled and the rest empty. And then they will seat 7 parties that walk in without reservations while you wait for your "reserved" table. And when you see that and ask the hostess if they can seat you now, 2 minutes before your reserved time, they'll say they need to check with the manager. And when they don't immediately return to take you to a table, you give up and decide to eat at the bar. Whereupon the bartender ignores you and doesn't even come over. We gave up and walked out. One of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had in a while. Perhaps it was due to it being a Sunday evening. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full but there was a 10 minute wait communicated. Unfortunately, they gave our table away to another group that just walked in because they didn't write our name down. Not a great start. Once seated, it was close to an hour to get our entrees. We had to request lemon for the water and a few other things more than once. My meal was ordered as a medium bistro filet that was very well done(dark brown all through). No one at the table ate the broccoli because it was surprisingly soaked in lemon, which we are told is a new recipe that they are trying. It was also very off with brown spots and we did want to chance it. The first manager that came over and asked how the meal was. We explained the issues. He asked if we wanted to replacement for the broccoli and when we said no, he just said OK and left. A second manager was also roaming. Too bad they didn't put the extra money in to extra wait staff so that customers don't have to wait as long when the restaurant is not even half full. The bartender was actually one of the runners and clearing tables on the main floor outside the bar dining area. The second manager actually took the time to ask what's wrong with our meals and then provide a 10% discount for the time and the food that we couldn't eat because it was not safe... The staff here is very friendly and the food was great! We had to change our reservation time and they were responsive and updated it easily for us. Our waitress was very friendly and quick. She made sure we didn't need anything. We ordered a slice of key lime cake to take home, and it was brought out with the check- perfect timing. The wild flower martini was fresh and sweet tasting. The sparkling wine in it was poured at the table, which gave it a little show. The blackened shrimp with mexican street corn is my new favorite entree, which is unfortunate because it is a seasonal dish for summer. The corn was so creamy and there was just a hint of spice. We have eaten at other Bonefish grills many times. The restaurant ambiance is the same as always and we were seated quickly at 5 but things did start looking chaotic by 6. Our waiter was new and frazzled which was okay and expected with a new waiter. The bread and risotto and shrimp and fish were good but vegetables were a disappointment. The "brussels sprout salad" may have had one shredded brussels sprout on a big bed of lettuce with too much dressing and the broccoli that came with dinner was oddly a mixture if huge florets with most being almost raw, but some cooked. I honestly don't know how to rate this place. The food was good...well, the main course was good. I have never had any complaints about their fish. What is lacking is attention to detail here. When we walked in, they had an incredibly shy young person who had a very thick accent, seemingly incredibly confused & not knowing how to handle people that came to the hostess desk. We gave our drinks orders and then asked for a few minutes to view the menu. She was super sweet and answered all of our questions before leaving us to decide. We were able to order after a bit and she left us to devour the bread (we were very hungry). After a bit, our first course came out. My mother got the lobster bisque and seemed happy with it. I got a simple side Caesar salad and was horrified by the rotten lettuce that was used. As I didn't want to get e.coli, I called the server over & asked that it be taken from the bill as it was unfit for anything to eat. She totally agreed and took it away. After a bit of sitting & having a conversation, the manager came over to ask us if we were having a good time. He asked us what we ordered (why???) and to let him know if we weren't happy. We reminded him that they already failed with a simple salad but we'd let him know. It was a little odd frankly. I don't mind when the manager walks around but to go up to every table & ask what people ordered? Stalk much? Eventually our fish showed up. I ordered the grilled mahi with jasmine rice & spinach, my mother got the better dish with grilled halibut potatoes and broccoli. The broccoli was gross. Just gross. The halibut on the other hand was grilled to perfection and was so tasty. Like, seriously. I should have gotten it. Not that the mahi was bad, it was delish, seriously delish. That halibut though....oh bliss! While we were eating and chatting, we noticed some of the patrons coming in. This is where I have to question the restaurant practices. Seriously. There was a woman that came in wearing gym spandex, like she just came from the gym. The thing is, like the typical American now, she should not be wearing spandex outside of the gym if you catch me. I'm a big girl myself and you wouldn't catch me dead wearing spandex outside the privacy of my home (I do love leggings). There were men in sweatshirts or hoodies with trucker hats over greasy hair. Loud children screaming & crying with their parents ignoring them. It was chaos! Here's the thing, Bonefish Grill is a bit more upscale than a local Appleby's is, people should really care more about dress codes when you go out on a Saturday night. Maybe it's just me, but don't you kind of miss when a place had a dress code and people cared enough to dress before dining out? We chose to sit in the bar rather than wait, not a desirable location due to the nearness of the door and coolness but our choice. A waiter finally came and left bread and olive oil on the table with no utensils nor napkin nor plates. Finally he returned to take drink orders. But, that ended up being about a 40-minute wait. The food ultimately arrived and was good enough. The service received throughout the ordeal was almost non-existing and what was offered was rudeness. Interestingly, what seemed to be the manager wandered back and forth in the main dining room checking on people but didn't bother to check in on the bar. My family and I have been to Bone Fish grill many times in another state. However, I want to share my experience from yesterday at the Williamsburg Location. So we booked our reservation via online for valentines day. We were running behind and called and the host was gracious enough to push the time back for us. We arrived the ambiance is very nice, romantic, dimmed lit with candles. We were sitting in a highly trafficked area (of servers and bartenders) we sat there for ten mins and no one came to the table so my spouse had to speak to the host. Who apologize, walked over to the bar and told the bartenders about our table. The bartender (brown skin, thicker woman) looked right over at us as the host was pointing and her demeanor instantly got unprofessional. We had to ask for the bread that is normally provided at the beginning of the meals. She begin to shake her head no. We then watched the host walk away from the bar and we asked to speak to a manager. The manager came over right away and got our drinks started, then sent another bartender to us. She was some what good she fixed my drink to make it goowhen I thought it was extremely strong, and she seemed nice. The only thing is she didn't check on our table, I had to stare her down to get her attention. The food came out, and was very fresh and tasty per usual. If it haven't been for the food I would have probably given it a 2 star. read more

Visited yesterday, we had gift cards and decided to use them. We were seated promptly without reservations, our server arrived soon after and got the drink order, then we decided on dinner. Hubby had the fish and chips, it was a lot of breading, not much fish, but he enjoyed it. I ordered the Trout, Oscar, it was a filleted trout with a lemon sauce, asparagus and crab on top. It was overdone when the server brought it out, sent it back for a redo and the second time it was perfect, tender, moist, and tasty. The french fries were hot and crisp on both meals. We just went into Bonefish for a late lunch. It was 2:00 and there was only one other table occupied in the entire restaurant. The host seated us right behind this occupied table. Their waitress came and checked on them/brought them refill drinks/doled out leftover containers four times in the 12-15 minutes we were there. She never so much as glanced at us. We could see the bartender and another server chatting behind the bar. We waited. And waited. And waited. No one ever acknowledged us, much less came to get our drink/food order. We were immediately greeted once we stepped foot in the restaurant. The front house staff were pleasant and bubbly. Their great energy had me all set for a great dining experience. You can choose to dine on the bar side which includes bar seating and seating in high tops around the bar. There are several TV's on this side as well. There's an other side for more intimate dining. On the day we dined, we decided to dine on the bar seating side because of the TV's didn't want to miss any football game action. So let's eat...on this visit we had the following: Original and Peach Mimosas Crispy cod sliders and Wagyu beef sliders Kim Crawford Chardonnay Calamari and Crispy Au Gratin Bites Fried Oysters Big Bang Shrimp topped Eggs Benedict with a side of toast and syrup (Brunch meal only) Mahi Mahi and Tilapia topped Oscar Style (crab meat and asparagus) Pumpkin Creme Brûlée Espresso Martini I did not try these items: calamari, fried oysters or the big bang shrimp eggs Benedict but my babe did and he loved everything! Some of my favorites: both mimosas, wagyu beef sliders, and the mahi mahi. Now my surprising favorites - Pumpkin Creme Brûlée and the Espresso Martini. OMG - just thinking about these two makes we want to return to the restaurant sooner than later. I don't usually have room for dessert, but some how I finished all of my Pumpkin Creme Brûlée... like it went down so smooth I had almost forgot about my belly being full just a few minutes ago. I have always enjoyed some Bang-Bang Shrimp. I visited with my son and we had a great time. Renee was our server and she was amazing!! So warm and friendly. She made our experience delightful. I do not think I have ever had any issues or concerns at this location but now when I arrive I will ask for Renee's section. Oh, by the way, our food was perfect as well. We ordered several shareables and the Bang-Bang Shrimp, Mussels and Tuna roll were delicious. I thought we were done and then Renee started describing the desserts and when she told us about the Molten-lava Carrot Cake we had to try that too. OMG it was amazing!!!!
