I like this restaurant mainly for the atmosphere and its nice decor but for me, the food is just okay. I have tried Bang bang shrimp, Tuna sashimi, fried Codfish n chips, seasonal salad. My favorite one was the Bang bang shrimp, it was hearty and filling even though the portion size is small. I wasn't impressed by the rest. The codfish had a heavy batter and it seemed like the oil they used to fry it was overused and smelled a bit burned. They offer a complimentary fresh baked bread with seasoned olive oil and Iove that gest. The service was great, the food came really quick considering the fact that the restaurant was packed that especial night. Came here for lunch with some coworkers. The restaurant food quality is consistent with other BFG locations that I have been to. I had the BF house salad with salmon for lunch. I requested that the salmon to be cooked medium and it was cooked to medium. Perfectly seasoned and with the dressing on the side, I controlled how much I wanted. Bonefish Grill is always such treat. This restaurant is a great place for date night or a birthday dinner. Most recently, I visited Bonefish on a Saturday about 3:00 PM. On Saturdays apparently they have a brunch menu and then at 2:00 switch over to their dinner menu. I ordered the cod with a side of potatoes and jasmine rice. It came out in about 10-15 minutes. The food was hot and very filling. It tasted great paired with an icy cold coke. I also ordered ceviche on the side. I was not really a fan of Bonefish's take on ceviche. It had very large chunks of carrots in it which was a turn off. The tortilla chips that came with it on the side were really good though. Service was wonderful! I will be back the next time I have a seafood craving. Especially because I did not get my fix of Bang Bang Shrimp this time around. The Bang Bang Shrimp never disappoints. read more

Came on a weekday night and it was rather busy, but within 5 minutes I was seated. My waitress gave me the drink specials to look over while I waited for the rest of my party to show up. I ordered the white sangria and it was delicious, on the sweeter side (my personal favorite). Once everyone arrived I ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer and it was AMAZING (as always). Love how tender the shrimp are and the flavor of the spicy sauce on the shrimp. PS- this appetizer is so large that you can share, but I did not and it ended up being my meal because I was so full afterwards. Oh and the bread that they bring out is so good! Crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside, the herbs and olive oil are also a great dipping side to accompany the bread. Unfortunately our time at the Bonefish Grill today was less than satisfactory. Liza, our waitress could have been a bit more helpful, but when we expressed that our sirloin and shrimp (2 dishes) were over cooked her response was "I'm sorry". She did not offer to have them re made or if we wanted a new dish. To be fair, our bang bang shrimp was fantastic, our daughter's Mac n cheese and fries were good and she was satisfied. But when you're paying almost $30 for a lunch entree you would expect to have a waitress be a little more concerned on how your meal turns out. She never checked to see if we needed another round of drinks. And when my husband did complain about his food being overcooked at the end since he didn't eat it and she didn't seem to care, her reason was "well you didn't ask for anything else." While a manager was standing there and clearly didn't care either. The meal was taken off, and when she told us that it was she expressed it with a real snarky face. The fact a manager didn't come over to check on us really gets me. When a customer has to complain about a dish, a manager is the one who should be handling the situation. read more

Three stars for service. The bartender was great. Kept our bottomless mimosas full ($10 at brunch on sundays with the purchase of an entree). My only issue was with the food. I ordered a brunch burger medium and it came out tougher than a hockey puck (not once, but twice). I ended up eat half of my wife's meal because I couldn't even chew the burger. This most recent weekend my fiancé and I decided to go on a little dinner date and so we ended up at Bonefish. They were able to seat us immediately which was great considering it was a Friday night. We started of real strong. The host at the front was friendly and seemed actually happy to be there. The server, I literally do not have words for how amazing the server was. She was knowledgeable had great recommendations and was always kind and friendly. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as the appetizer and boy do I wish we would have just gone home after that. The shrimp was delicious and we split it between the two of us. Even as a shared appetizer we were both almost full. Honestly the bowl was stuffed with shrimp. And they were warm and light and buttery. Just truly top notch. Then we got our entrees. I am a basic so I got the fish and chips and my fiancé got Kate's North Atlantic haddock. My fish was delicious but unfortunately it was mostly breading. The breading was just so much and it was so greasy. My fiancé's experience wasn't much better her fish was bland and she got 2 sides. The mashed potatoes which tasted great but they must have been sitting because they were Luke warm at best. I had an excellent experience at this Bonefish location while in Gainesville visiting for a UF graduation. I stopped by with my family on a Friday night at the request of my dad who has been watching his weight and was looking for a seafood option in town. There is heavy construction going on in the next parking lot over and I think that had a lot to do with the low wait time. Don't let that deter you...this is an excellent location to dine! We were given a 5-10 minute wait time and were seated very quickly. FOOD: Delicious. This was probably the best meal I have ever had at any Bonefish location. When you seek seafood you don't always think of chain restaurants, but Bonefish is the exception. We started off with our favorite Bang Bang Shrimp which never disappoint. I had the Tilapia Imperial (a nice portion of tilapia stuffed with shrimp, scallops & crabmeat topped with lemon caper butter). OMG I died and went to heaven. Perfectly cooked and plenty of every ingredient. I ordered broccoli and spinach on the side and they were equally tasty. My dad had the grilled atlantic salmon which was also perfect and my sister enjoyed the Crab Crusted Alaskan Cod. There were plenty of leftovers. DRINKS: My sister and I tried the Patron's Perfect Cucumber Margarita which was indeed perfect. Super refreshing and delightful. They had many good selections on tap and the mixed drinks were made well. Can't really complain here. SERVICE: Awesome! Such a polite and professional staff. Our waiter Dave (David T) was very helpful and very accurate. He was informative and got our orders correct without fail. The hostesses were friendly and genuine. I don't know what the heck was going on in Bonefish today, but this was a first. I had been waiting for 30 minutes and hadn't received water or a menu and brunch was about to be over. I was furious, and asked for the manager. The manager came over and everything changed. I gave the manager an earful. I told him how disappointed I was, how this has never happened before, and I'd like to know what's going on. I indicated that I was a regular and that I couldn't believe what was happening. It was busy, yes, but it has been a heck of a lot busier with efficient service. I buy gift cards for my friends and family to come here, and I don't buy them for service like this. What I didn't say was, "This is one of my favorite restuarants in town please don't tell me it's spiraling." The manager told me that it didn't matter if I was a regular or a first timer this was unacceptable and that he would be happy to take care of me from here on out. Well, I received great service after speaking with the manager. I ordered the Oscar's Omelet which was crab, asparagus and soft cheese, and Creme Brulee french toast, and it was absolutely incredible. I know what the problem was. There needs to be more training and development. All the staff members need to be observant (team-minded) as to what is going on in the restuarant especially the ones who are not as busy at the moment. Finally went to brunch (I have to admit I am a sucker for a BOGO coupon, LOL!) I have been for dinner a couple of times, which was always great. However, I think this might be my new favorite brunch place for one reason, not only do the have endless mimosas for $10 BUT if you want to just have the bubbly and NO juice you are allowed to do that. I have to say, I greatly appreciate the fact that our server made me aware of this option because it was the deciding factor in my decision to even order the mimosas. I also tired and loved the passion fruit mimosa. SO when it comes to the food, excellent as usual. I had the blacked cod tacos with a side of cheese grits. Very yummy tacos and you get 3, which is awesome because most places only give you two. It was odd that they just placed the cheese on top of the grits and I had to mix it in myself, but not really a big deal, it tasted great and had a thick consistency that I prefer. My hubby got the Big Bang Shrimp Benedict with a side of bacon and he highly enjoyed it. I was also very pleased that they serve the complimentary bread and pesto oil with brunch. My tip, go earlier. We went in around 10:45 or 11 and were seated immediately, but by the time we left around noon the place was packed. I like to see a full restaurant because it means the food is high quality and more than likely they have many repeat customers. Obviously, this place isn't the cheapest in town (easily $25 to $30 per person minimum), but that is how it goes for this type of cuisine. Happy Fathers Day! Dad and I dropped by since we had never been. It was a great experience. For as busy as they were, we still go seated right away, and we didn't have any type of extended wait from when we ordered to receiving our food. The staff was super friendly, and no one appeared rushed or flustered with the crowd. It was also very clean despite the constant flow of people . The food was flavorful and delicious. We started with the calamari, which was flash fried with red peppers. Talk about damn good food. The Bang Bang Shrimp Eggs Benedict is hella spicy, but so flavorful I finished every bite. My mouth was on fire. Be warned, when they say spicy, they MEAN it. Definitely interested in coming back because the other menu items sounded awesome. While in Gainesville we quickly found that there aren't many original and privately owned restaurants in this area, 99% of the dining options are chain restaurants, so we decided to stop in Bonefish Grill, which is is pretty good for a chain restaurant, professional service, a nice list of specialty cocktails and a great menu that includes a large selection of small plates to share. The food is excellent, everything is prepared fresh, quality is consistent which is key as to why Bonefish grill is such a great restaurant. This location has a large dining room, a large bar and bar tables/lounge area. We like to seat at the bar, and all of the bartenders are friendly and attentive. I love the variety of the small plates on the new Bar menu, the Rockefeller are delicious with a beautiful presentation as the oysters are placed on a bowl of rock salt, the pork Dim Sum Style Slider Buns are delicious and the Ocean Trust Tropic Heat Martini specialty cocktail (vodka house-infused with pineapples, freshly muddled mango, lemon juice + a thin slice of jalapeño) is by far my favorite plus if you order it they donate $1 for each drink to an Ocean Trust foundation, It thought that was very cool. Nice Tuesday menu that includes salad, bread, entree and dessert. I had the pecan crusted trout that was moist and crunchy. This was a whole fish that I couldn't finish. I've had cocktails and martini's at the bar that can hold their own against some of the swankiest bars in Tampa, Jax, or Miami too. I've got my menu favorites, but I'm not going to say what they are so it doesn't influence your decision. Go wild. Do something different. Order something you wouldn't normally order. I think you'll be in for a very scrumptious surprise. If you have dietary restrictions or are trying to be health conscious the chef will prepare your fish/seafood/sides as you wish. Don't be afraid to ask. Make reservations for Thurs, Fri, Sat night. It can be busy. Parking is getting better with the new redesigned lot. Restrooms are good. There's some nice big cushy furniture out front on the porch for you to hang out on for a few minutes if you didn't make a reservation. read more

Bonefish is a place that doesn't exceed my expectations, but it also doesn't completely fail. This is my second experience with Bonefish and I wasn't very impressed. The first time I went for a birthday and was shocked at the customer service. Vegan Thumb's Down I have several close friends and we go out to eat weekly taking turns picking which spot. Most of us like Bonefish Grill, personally I never have been impressed with any of their offerings although to be fair stick to their fish it is adequate compared to their beef, pork or chicken dishes. I preferred the far superior locally owned and operated Gainesville, FL restaurant, NW Grille (5115 NW 39th Avenue) for this sort of fare until I decided because of health concerns to adopt a plant based anti-inflammatory diet. The few times we have dined at Bonefish since the diet change, I have found no dish on their menu save a straight up salad I can order that isn't either loaded with or tainted by animal foods. I am inspired to report speaking to the waiter and then the manager about my dilemma they could come up with no good suggestions. It seemed to me their pasta dish without the protein (salmon, shrimp or chicken) with a commensurate dip in price could be nice ignoring the "creamy cajun sauce" which strictly speaking probably had dairy ingredients. I left the discount up to the manager, who reduced the price of the meal by one dollar! One of my companions had the same dish (plus the chicken), Italian, she was as unimpressed as I with the lack luster overcooked pasta, limp vegetables and insipid sauce. Portion size wasn't large for either of us, she didn't finish her meal, I was still hungry. The manager didn't return to check on my satisfaction level which frankly is well below one widget. Went to Bonefish after a Yelp event for some drinks and appetizers. Although it was crowded we were able to get a seat at the long tables in the bar area. A few minutes later 2 spots opened up at the end of the bar. We opted to switch since the NCAA Basketball tournament was playing on the large TVs behind the bar. We had fun chatting with the three bartenders (Noah, Kevin and Erin). They made a variety of mixed drinks to order and were cheerful to guests. They served our Bang,bang shrimp and Ahi Tina. Both were fresh and delicious. We wrapped up with the doughnut dessert that comes with a chocolate and Carmel sauces (yum). This is normally one of my favorite places to eat. My review is for last night 8-12 was totally nuts! Poor service, uncooked cod, sitting without drinks or being able to place a food order, having to move tables bc children were shaking salt on me, other tables complaining, (they had our same server) AND finally a mgr Darius was seen hiding behind a column by the host stand grinning and eavesdropping as we ate. When I noticed him he came to the table to introduce himself. I do think I know why he was so amused. I had fairly immediate food poisoning when I got home. He didn't take the uncooked untouched cod off our bill. 2 Mgr's 2 waitresses, and the host all trying to work on restoring some normalcy to the night. My brussel sprout appetizer which I normally love was dry and burnt. I ordered a tuna poke bowl it was disappointing and unlikely totally fresh. The top pieces were but they slid some older fish under the pile. It seemed like everyone was new including the kitchen staff. We were not the only table experiencing this. The people behind us walked out complaining about their night. So I asked how was your meal the man said it was the worst exp he ever had here. I tend to agree. I don't know what happened here but please tighten your reigns. If I hadn't had so many other good experiences here last night was the kind of night where you wouldn't eat there again. Our waiter, Frank (love that guy, highly recommend this guy to serve your meal), was extremely hospitable and was also pretty patient with our party of six. Bless his heart. The appetizers were pretty good, but I'd say the imperial dip is the best appetizer on the menu. The scallop, shrimp and cheese blend are so rich altogether and it's savory. Also, their drinks?
