After watching the Rebs play we came to get dinner at Bonefish Grill in Gainesville before our drive back to Tampa. Service: It was okay, we walked in and were told there were so many people coming in that the wait would be super long unless we had made a reservation. We were about to leave and I quickly looked on open table and found a resy available for 10 pm which I booked. Turned back around and told the manager/host I now had a reservation. They were packed but there were plenty of tables open, we didn't see the 200 other people come in that were booked. Maybe the manger embellished his statement? Who knows but we got seated a little early before our "reservation". Honestly weird that he wouldn't just put us in for a slot that was open but nevertheless I got points on the OT app so it worked. The waitress was lovely! Ambiance is causal dining. We came in jerseys and shorts and fit right in. It's a college town. Let's get into it! Bang bang shrimp - Always as an app! So good! Shaved Brussel Sprout salad is amazing! Oysters Rockefeller - Always hit or miss here. My wife and I visit bonefish Grill three days ago and we really enjoyed the appetizer the bang bang shrimp my wife had the mahi-mahi I had the grouper with crab cakes we really enjoyed both of our meals. We had so much to eat that we had to get to go box for later to bring home with us. We will be visiting there again soon. read more

We are locals and usually enjoy our visits to Bonefish. However, tonight was different. We noticed lots of open seating, unusual for a Friday night, and were given a Father's Day menu with food on it. What? We had to ask for another menu and they did get one. The martini was "OK", calamari the worst we have had, mainly breading. The waiter stated 3 times they were brining the bread, but never did. The entrees... we had the Lobster Ravioli and full shrimp salad and side Mac & cheese.... These were a 10/10. It just felt off tonight and disappointing with the start of service. Not sure what has happened, but hopefully they can take constructive criticism and make some positive changes. Today me and my husband celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary- and with no real plans for the day, we decided to pop into bonefish for a few drinks and a couple appetisers at the bar. I had never been to a bonefish before and was so happy we went there today! Our server -Hannah- went above and beyond to make the experience wonderful. She had great attention to detail and offered many helpful suggestions on what choices to make. She also makes some amazing cocktails. We tried several different signature cocktails and martini's- all made to perfection! A decent restaurant, although we had to wait quite a long time for our order, and the food was fairly tasty. The only thing we did not like was the clear hint from the staff that it was time for us to leave. There were not many people that day, and about an hour before closing they opened all the windows, it became very cold inside, and on top of that they started cleaning the restaurant and mopping the floor around our table, which was clearly a sign for us to go. It is insanity how bad this location has gotten. We literally can't go in and get decent service, and the food is kind of what it used to be. Then I order from uber eats and they send me shrimp that must have been sitting for hours! It's so dry that it's borderline dehydrated. Are you guys having issues with making food fresh? FYI the servers and bartenders will sit down in a common area to eat. Not so bad if they are on break. We LOVE Bonefish- this particular location was mediocre. We were seated in the bar - never again - service was subpar. Our servers name was Rhiannon and she was quite unenergetic. Wine and coke were brought to the table with no waters. Appetizer was brought out by a gentleman who noticed there was no bread on the table which he remedied. The butter for the lobster was brought out by another person who I asked for a glass of water. Dinner was very slow in coming out and it was barely warm. Hubby ordered twin lobster tails which he said were hot and tasty. He also ordered a side of the mac and cheese - this looked like it had been sitting as the top was congealed. I had the Dynamite Salmon special - as stated it was not hot - just warm. The broccoli tasted strange. It was left on the plate. Bonefish is one of those restaurants that confuses the heck out of me. I can never figure out what kind of restaurant I'm in. On one side there is a sports bar vibe and the other is a fine dining vibe. Waiters dress like it is a nice restaurant, but I'm drawing with crayons on the table watching a sports game that's on across the hall. Aside from the confusion, my food was great. I got a filet mignon with rice and asparagus. The filet and rice were top notch. I was only given 4 pieces of asparagus which I thought was a bit odd. The workers were very nice, but the food take very long to come out. This was especially surprising because we ordered our food ahead of time (before getting there). Was so very excited to go as a local guest of friends. Lol they are often afraid that i am a secret " lay" food person. I am sorry to say i would not go back. As for service it was really slow in comparison if wait staff to customer. The first thing i do after being seated is go to the restroom wash my hands n check out the cleanliness of the restroom. The times I have been to this restaurant I always get seated quickly even on busy nights and staff is extremely nice. One night got there kind of close to the restaurants closing but they were still extremely nice and attentive, and they even gave us a free extra desert. One of our waiters, can't remember his name, but he was extremely nice and entertaining. I also really like their fish and chips. The food always comes out hot and fresh. Horrible experience! Two plates of salmon came out nearly raw. The " roasted potatoes" were boiled not roasted and were hard as rocks. The green beans tasted like fish. Cocktails were delivered after our meal. Our waiter apologized and said that the cooks and managers were trainees and the second bartender had called in sick. A terrible meal for 3 was $150! We of course had to order the Bang Bang Shrimp, which are a Bonefish Grill classic. You can never go wrong this these. We also ordered the Baja scallop and shrimp scampi linguini, the grilled shrimp and vegetable pasta, and the pumpkin lava cake. The pasta dishes came in large portions and had a good amount of seafood. They boasted great flavors with rich and creamy sauces. The pumpkin lava cake melted in your mouth with added whipped cream and vanilla ice cream on the side. This is, thus far the worst Bonefish Grill I've ever been to. What's wrong with it? Oh, where do I begin? Well, they treat a single person like they don't even exist. Or like they're a burden...which believe it or not is preferable since at least then I exist. The food is getting less and less flavorful. If they keep it up it's not going to have any flavor at all. Or maybe they only do that to single guests. I wouldn't know about that. The music in the kitchen is louder than the music in the dining room. 3.75 stars:) Hours are 11 AM till 9 PM Sunday; Monday thru Thursday 11 AM till 10 PM, & 11 AM till 11 PM Friday & Saturday. There are three separate menus-- Lunch, Dinner, & Bar. I hadn't stopped in in probably a decade. When this location first opened, my then husband and I went relatively often because the food was excellent. Over the years it began to decline, but today it reminded me of the quality restaurant it once was (w/ some minor exceptions). The diverse, two-sided lunch menu offers a good array of food; everyone in your party should be able to find something of interest-- see menu pic. Menu prices appeared slightly higher than average for similar foods, & $3.29 for unsweatened iced tea was unacceptable, especially when the only available To Go cups were small in size. With that said, the warm ciabatta bread w/ dipping oil (brought to each table) was EXCELLENT. Our three entrees ranged from satisfactory to excellent. The $16.50 Bang Bang Tacos were EXCELLENT. The Baja Shrimp & Scallops Linguine @ $18.90 was VERY GOOD. And the 7 oz Sirloin w/ Crab Cake @ $24.50 was GOOD-- see pic. (It may have been very good had it been served @ a warmer temperature. Additionally, the plating was horrible.) The Imperial (seafood) Dip @ $11.50 was warm & DELICIOUS, & the accompanying housemade tortilla chips were PERFECT. The Premium Side of Bacon Mac & Cheese ($3 upcharge) was VERY GOOD & very cheesy. However, I sent the cup of Corn Chowder w/ Lump Crab back; at $4.90, it was SO SALTY that not one of us could eat it. Our service by Audrey F. was PERFECT. The restaurant appeared SPOTLESS. We made an Easter reservation 6 days in advance, but it wasn't necessary; upon our arrival & departure there were available tables. The dining room hosts new padded (& bulkier) chairs; movement between tables can be a little difficult. There's a gorgeous bar in one room. Sparkling, white, rose', chardonnay, merlot, cabernet, reds, pinot noir, & sauvignon blanc are the available wines. Additionally, there are three Draft beers & eight bottled beers. Five hand-crafted cocktails & five Signature Martinis are also offered. And last, but definitely not least, is a Signature Red Sangria & a Signature White Sangria-- each $7.50. Should you stop in w/ elderly relatives, you may need to accompany them to the restrooms; the wooden door was so thick and heavy that even I encountered difficulty w/ it. There's outdoor dining & curbside pickup. Delivery is available via Doordash & Uber Eats. I normally love Bonefish! This location has ruined it for me unfortunately. The service is poor and the cocktails are horrible. Whoever is working behind the bar cannot make even simple mixed drinks. Not really impressed with my brunch experience here. The "bottomless brunch" thing is actually a bit deceptive. Cocktails are bottomless if you have servers who are paying attention. Unfortunately, we did not have that experience and had to practically chase down servers to get refills. Also, bottomless only refers to the drinks. I was expecting a "prix fix" menu with all-you-can-eat options (as I've had with other "bottomless" brunches), but the food here is actually a la carte . My Chilean sea bass was ok. It looked great, but it didn't "wow" me in terms of taste. It was a bit bland, actually. I was grateful for the side of delicious lemon butter, which I put on both the fish and the accompanying vegetables. That really saved the meal. Just finished eating at Bonefish Grill, Gainesville. The establishment is big, and lit. It sort of takes the stress of life off your shoulders before you even hit your dinimg table. The menu is massive and there is a specials menu. I always ask the wait staff for their favorites and they are eager to share their recommendations. I had the Imperial cod and my husband had the bourbon salmon. Delicious. Followed by aHUGE piece of Key Lime CAKE.. FANTASTIC Followed by tbe key lime cake for dessert. Bonefish has all the tools necessary to make it a favorite chain for many! Great date night vibes and wait staff dressed like chefs give a classy feel. However while some areas impressed others just felt like they were average and even poor. The star of the show is the Bang Bang Shrimp. Seriously tasty sauce and great chew to the shrimp. I would come back for that but our other appetizers were clearly the forgotten middle child. Calamari, Seared Ahi tuna presentation was great but taste was nothing exciting. Our fish tacos were also great on presentation but taste wise was pretty average. I wasn't mad at it was the best way I could describe it. All in all this is a chain that does a great job presenting itself as more than what it is. For some the food may be enough to keep you coming as it wasn't bad! For us we had a waitress that never bothered checking up on us when we received our food. And the front door staff that I was saying goodbye, and l thank you as we were leaving and they all ignored and gave me a wonderfully awkward exit. I didn't get this sweet girls name but whoever worked Togos on Friday April 4th you were amazing! Right when we pulled in she was there checking us in and had the bill ready. We had a discount and she applied it for us. She was very attentive and on it. She was very fast as well!! One of the most mediocre meals I've ever had. I stopped in following an afternoon of "industrial" shopping (Lowes, Home Depot). Hungry and ready for something tasty. Since it was early I ordered the 3 course special. First, I ordered a drink. It was 4:45, maybe three full tables in my section, very few in the bar. The server finally brought a glass of water and said the bar was swamped. Hmmm. 20 minutes later the "manager" brought my drink. Dinner was an over cooked small piece of mahi mahi, disguised in greasy chimichurri. Bread was "not ready". By now, this is after 5 PM on a Saturday (game day, they should have been well prepared). Salad and bread arrived before the cocktail. When meal was finally delivered, I ordered a second cocktail, which didn't arrive until dessert. I used to love to go to Bonefish. This was one of the first times is soooo long that my friend and I went out on the town to enjoy what was once our favorite pastime; eating wonderful food with a couple cocktails at a stylish establishment at the bar; relaxed environment a plus. The barkeep was very friendly and was attentive; took the time to answer all my questions and even made it where I could get exactly what I wanted to eat on (crab cakes and scallops; only had one of those with steak as an option). But she happily created me a not too much extra in price to get that combo with sides. My friend and I were so excited for what was to come that we had to of course enjoy my free birthday bang bang shrimp the restaurant kindly had sent me and with those delicious morsels accompanied by my really refreshing martinis (I chose a lemon drop to start and a pomegranate mango martini for main course) - the drinks were almost too good! I had to pace myself. But in my opinion that means it was made to perfection. Both friend and I enjoyed our meals but like any experience there is always room for improvement... 1st. Please Bonefish, I really want to not go blind and be able to see my food in front of me. The lights were so dim it was a bit painful. 2nd. Although not necessarily bad; I mean i definitely drank it, but the espresso martini should not taste like you poured two shots of espresso into a brown sugar rimmed glass; did you forget my Kailua? Went to the Gainsville Florida Bonefish very sad to report the place was filthy dirty. They literally have a black film on their floors which is build up from not keeping the floors properly cleaned. The restroom was worse then a truck stop. Men's restroom had plastic bag over urinal. The bar area was just filthy dirty. We have always enjoyed Bonefish all over and never have we encountered such a filthy place. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Very disappointed. read more

I like this restaurant mainly for the atmosphere and its nice decor but for me, the food is just okay. I have tried Bang bang shrimp, Tuna sashimi, fried Codfish n chips, seasonal salad. My favorite one was the Bang bang shrimp, it was hearty and filling even though the portion size is small. I wasn't impressed by the rest. The codfish had a heavy batter and it seemed like the oil they used to fry it was overused and smelled a bit burned. They offer a complimentary fresh baked bread with seasoned olive oil and Iove that gest. The service was great, the food came really quick considering the fact that the restaurant was packed that especial night.
