The chicken is good . I like that they have a sweet/spicy and soy/garlic flavor . Unlike some other KFC joints they don't stick to that one flavor. The wait time is about 30min. Great service and great staff. Get the spicy chicken. So good! The server I had was very kind and courteous and she made sure I had everything I needed and even checked up on our table during our meal. I had the bibimbap as well and it was very good. We decided to try BonChon since we love Boom Boom Chicken in Rutherford and what a disappointment. What was supposed to be a 30min wait turned into an hour and a half wait! Boy was I upset!!!! We ordered a large order of the soy garlic chicken and it was beyond salty. Totally not worth the wait. In my opinion Boom Boom chicken is the same concept but you get more for your money and the chicken is cooked just right. I will not be going back to BonChon when I can easily satisfy my craving a town over. read more

First of all, the reviewers rating this 1 star because they had to wait longer then what they were told on the soft opening night need to grow up. It was their first night and they got slammed as soon as they opened, I know because I was there a few minutes after 4pm on their soft opening (they opened at 4 that day) and there was already a line of people and phone orders coming in. So cut them some slack! Yes, I was told 20-30 minutes and ended up waiting over an hour. I understand, because I know what it is like to be working in a kitchen when a pile of tickets comes in, and because this chicken takes 25+ minutes to make anyway, it's very understandable how they got backed up so quick. The food: I have eaten at every BonChon in NJ, and this was just as good as Northvale, Leonia, and Fort Lee. The only thing I feel needs some adjusting is the amount of sauce they actually brush on the chicken, they went kind of light on the sauce. Other than that, the chicken was crispy and spicy and delicious. The pickled radish was very pleasant. They have a full menu so I am looking forward to trying the takoyaki and all the other dishes. I was advised to order ahead by at least 30 minutes, and glad I did. When I arrived 30 minutes later, my food was ready. The staff are all friendly and accommodating, the place is clean, and the food is as delicious as any Bonchon establishment. What I do love about this location is that it has a wider selection of food than other Bonchons I have been to in New Jersey, which is a nice plus! A lot of people complain about the long wait, which is understandable, but since they are just starting out, I'm sure they'll get the place running more smoothly in no time. read more

It's alright. The chicken was slightly over cooked and undered seasoned the soy garlic and spocey were both quite bland and underwhelming for the price quite disappointing we will not be back. The service was slow the slogan is perfection takes time but it wasn't long enough. The counter staff was un friendly and robotic. Went for the first time last night, before seeing a show at Nutley Little Theatre. The place has no ambience really. Kind of like eating in a fish bowl. But the food was great! We had Spicy Chicken Tacos, beef Japche and chicken biminbop. So very tasty and just the right amount of spice for us. They give you ample portions too. We got the tacos as an appetizer but they were so big and a meal In themselves. We brought a lot of food home and are looking forward to the leftovers. If you were raised on fried chicken, are familiar with Southern cooking, or African-American like me (all of the above) save your money and skip this overpriced and overly sweet fried chicken. Fried chicken is a savory dish, not sweet. It only takes about 5 ingredients to make some really good chicken. I'm embarrassed to admit I paid $11 for 10 wing halves that weren't even organic. I typically visit the Union location since I've relocated back to Jersey however this evening Nutley was more convenient since I was on that side of town and boy was I disappointed!! The chicken wasn't as flavorful and the fried rice tasted really sweet. $37 worth of disappointment, I will never go back to this location again. I love Bonchon! I tried it for the first time just a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked. I had the 1/2 spicy and 1/2 soy garlic potstickers and they were delicious. Very crispy and not too oily. I like spicy food, and these spicy potstickers were extremely spicy. The next time I got the lunch special of soy garlic wings and fries. Very good as well. I only wish there was a way to have it a little-med spicy, not melt your taste buds spicy. Overall, I like it alot. Everything is made to order which is a huge plus for me, but it also means it's not going to be ready very quickly, so I recommend calling ahead of time. Th food is delicious but everyone complains about the service since they take their time prepping the food but a sign is posted in the restaurant. I ordered some wings & sliders which were excellent with some parmesan fries that were few and rare sitting in this oversized box. The fries were good but they were very cheap with the portions, I actually felt ripped off. I received no sauce or radish with my order but the girl at the counter was pleasant. Garlic, soy fried chicken very good, bimbibop ok. Will go back for fried chicken, think that garlic soy is the key, the plain fried a bit boring. Garlic fries not bad. I got to try this a few weeks ago from my friend's recommendation. Their Parmesan Garlic fries is a must have....dare I say, addicting. I just wish it was a bigger portion. Their chicken was pretty good. I love to get both spicy and soy garlic. I was a bit bummed on their House Fried Rice. It was a bit on the mushy side. I like it more when the rice kernels are more loose. The interior looks nice with a TV to watch while waiting for your take out order. read more

Many of the reviews for this Bonchon are negative due to the slow service and extended wait times they've had to deal with. Unlike those reviews, I've never had to deal with that. The wings at Bonchon are double fried so the breading on the outside of the chicken is extra crispy. The soy garlic wings are my favorite and the spicy wings aren't far behind. The wings are very hearty and the small combo order (9 total) is enough to satisfy your appetite. I'm giving 4 stars because I personally think it's a bit pricy and think they'd do better if they lowered their prices slightly. read more

The wait was about 30 minutes for a rather large order of their KFC. Personally I don't mind if that means it's done right (which it was) ! We ordered half garlic soy and half hot and both were wonderful; the breading was light and crisp and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. Personally I preferred the Korean hot! The lady working there was nice and asked us if we'd like anything extra to go along with our order. We also ordered fries which were good but wish they were a bit crispy! I'm a big fan of this Bon Chon. They had a rocky start in their opening weeks but as they got the hang of things, the staff really hit their stride. They have pretty cashiers, especially the one with glasses. :-) Cooks really spend time preparing the food, and their chicken wings are the bomb! I appreciate that orders always come out fresh. I had my first taste of Bon Chon last night and boy am I a happy camper! We phoned in our order - large combo (15 wings & 8 drums), sauce choice of half & half. We were told it would be ready in 30 minutes and just as we were pulling up, they called to let us know our order was ready. The staff was helpful and cheery, the store was well lit and very clean, and the timing was spot on. The wings were excellent and the drums were too (mmmmm - crispy skin!). I love love love the Soy Garlic. Now don't get me wrong, the Spicy pieces were also delicious, but I was completely won over by Soy Garlic. Maybe the kinks have been worked out or maybe it was a lucky Tuesday, but we didn't experience any of the issues mentioned by other reviewers. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items and indulging in some more Soy Garlic wings on my next visit - which needs to be very soon!!! read more

Was hesitant to try the place because of negative reviews. But the wait time wasn't an issue. They now phone you when your order is ready! (Which they did 10 mins. after I placed the order.) Got combo chicken--the spicy was just hot enough; the soy garlic very tasty. Both were juicy. The bulgogi was tender and flavorful, and the japchae was delicious. A side of kimchi was as fiery as it's supposed to be. The bulgogi came with rice and there was a free cup of pickled daikon radish. Definitely going back. read more

Was very excited when I found this place! Then I read the reviews and was not sure what to expect. Tonight I called ahead to place my order for pick up. The girl who picked up the phone was very friendly. I ordered 20 wings, half and half. She told me it would take 30-35 min to prepare but she would call me when it was ready to pick up. I expected it to take much longer based on the reviews but she called me exactly 35 min later! The wings were delicious and worth the time needed to prepare. I will be going back for sure. read more

I was very excited that BonChon opened up a location in Nutley because usually I would have to go into the city but not any more! The place is modern, clean, overall very nice to sit and enjoy your food. The cashier greeted me and was very nice. I ordered drumsticks and fries but the cashier said they were backed up so it would take about 35 minutes. It ended up coming out a little bit earlier but it was very delicious and so worth the wait!
