So we ordered our food. My sweet boneless wings hardly had any sauce on them, I asked for more sauce. I was told "no because it's a company sauce so they give it out" WTH are you kidding me. Was way over fried and dry and to not have more sauce is rediculous! Won't be coming back! At least this time we received the appetizer before the meal. I'm writing this during our meal... They were able to take my food and re-toss it in more sweet sauce... Still won't be back. Still over cooked and it's empty on a Friday night so..... read more

This place was NOT the bonchon I know and love. I have tried bonchon on the east coast and even the left overs are something to dream about. I was so excited to hear Houston would get a bonchon. The chicken was oily and favor less, the service was terrible. Our waiter ignored us for the half first of our meal and rushed us out for the second half. There are way better places to eat Korean fried chicken in Houston, don't waste your time with this place. read more

Flavorful and bright food, catering more to great tastes than health as most dishes or parts of it visit the fryer. Lunch menu was pulled Dec 23, I'm guessing so they could take advantage of the increased traffic with holiday shoppers. read more

We will NEVER come back again! We love to give NEGATIVE rating if we could. We're only reviewing the service as WE NeVER GOT OUR FOOD! We ordered salmon ball and 20 wings half and half and French fries, our server warned us that the chicken will be about 20-25 mins and asked if its ok if we get the other dishes before the chicken. After 45 minutes of ordering and given multiples excuses from our waiter, we never got our food. We finally had enough when three other tables that were seated AFTER us get their orders of fried chicken before us. We asked our waiter where's our food and got some lame excuse about how they ordered drumsticks. We ordered wings! When in the world does drumstick cook faster than wings??!!??! read more

We came in, they were a little busy so I guess I understand why no staff was paying attention to us. We waited to be seated...when someone was finally took us to be seated, he saw a customer he knows and talked to him first. Then his phone rang so he answered the call (I guess he forgot that he was suppose to take us to a table). After his call, he talked to the customer again so we stepped out and left. read more

The food is good, but service is lacking. If you are eating in the restaurant, be prepared to wait for your food. The kitchen is always behind. If you order take out, add 10 minutes to their estimate. Then be prepared to wait quite a while to check out. They only use one computer to close take out orders. If they start on the wrong computer, they need management help to change. We waited 10 minutes while the manager talked to the server checking us out today because she started on the wrong computer and couldn't fix her mistake. read more

This is base on our to go order. Chicken wings are great however the chicken nuggets were so burnt they were inedible. When I called to let them know the manager was unavailable but my phone number was written down with a promise of a call. Needless to say no call was made. For the price of the food we expected at least edible food :( stick with the wings guys! read more

I crave this chicken. The wings and drumsticks have a nice crispy coating under the sauce. The sweeter sauce is my favorite, but the spicy sauce is great too. The fries are ultra-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Everything comes out hot and fresh. We just started going here and have probably eaten here five times. The staff has been friendly and helpful each time - no issues. This is now our go-to place if we want wings. We will definitely be back. read more

Mannnn... this place isn't what it was when it first opened. Everything was great but it all went downhill. I mean it was ok but not all that nawmsayn???? read more

Don't go to this place. It's awful!!!!! Management is poor. Chicken sucks!!!!! They only buy this brand name, not making good food!!! When they mess up your food, they don't EVEN give some discount. They just simply say WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!! Never go to this place again!!!! read more

Have ordered from them several times. The food is always delicious. They've made mistakes on a couple of orders. Last night they left off a coleslaw and also the plastic utensils I requested. I called the restaurant and other leaving a note that the item was missing they offered no solution. I was told to pick up the side next time I went to the restaurant. I'm still still not going into small restaurants with close seating. I'm giving five stars but probably should give four. Sometimes the food I'd piping hot but last night was hot, but just cool enough for the French fries to not be crisp. Reheated them today in air fryer and they were better than last night. Wasn't the best last night. Also the cups of coleslaw and radish were completely not full and the rice portion was smaller than when I ordered the same dish last week. Kim here containers were simply. I'll leave at five stars but that's because it's been fantastic before. Last nite was good but not the greatest for me. Mt husband and son in law really love the drumsticks. read more

This is no Korean chicken, definitely! American food Fried wing is dry and tasteless. The popcorn chicken is burned and chewy. Pricy food with less option. This is first visit， and it doesn't worth second try. read more

Our first time trying Bonchon, definitely won't be our last. Food had great flavor and was perfectly crispy. Ethan's recommendations were spot on, great service, highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

It really is hard to write a review about Bonchon right now, or any Korean style fried chicken joint in the Houston area for that matter. Coming from the Philippines, there are Bonchon locations everywhere. Over there, they did Korean fried chicken right. It was flavorful, but that extra extra extra crispy texture is what made it like nothing I've ever had. After Bonchon finally opening up in Houston (Katy), I couldn't stop thinking about finally getting that first crispy, crunchy bite of chicken. I ordered the wing and drumstick combo with half soy garlic and half spicy sauce. When my order finally came up, the flavor was there, but that crunch was lacking. Now it still was very crispy, and for some Houstonians who haven't tried Bonchon before, it may very well have been the crispiest fried chicken they've had. For me though, the crispiness wasn't up to par. The flavor was there though, except the spicy was just a bit too spicy (and that's coming from someone who LOVES spicy). They did however adjust the recipe a little, so the spicy chicken wasn't as spicy, and that made it a lot more enjoyable for me. That has been an ongoing occurrence with this restaurant. The recipe constantly changes, or the way they actually fry the chicken changes, making it more crispy every time. I'm sure as they keep going, they'll find the perfect frying technique that offers that perfect crispiness I've been missing. I did try a few other items as well. The pot stickers and the Tteokboki(?) are great, and I do recommend trying them. So obviously from reading this review, you can tell that I actually frequent this place quite often, or at least often enough to know that the recipe and cooking techniques are constantly changing. And it is that very "attitude" this restaurant has that keeps me coming back. They are always looking for ways to improve in order to not only satisfy, but please each and every customer. From the management to the wait staff to the cooks..they gear everything to make customers happy. Another example of this I noticed with the manager. Anyone who lives in Houston knows that the past few months have given us CRAZY amounts of rain. There were many times I saw the manager outside with an umbrella walking to cars and making sure families don't get wet. Let me get to the actual physical restaurant before I miss it. It is always clean, despite the number of people going in and out. The actual space isn't huge, so tables and chairs are arranged a little more on the "cozy" side for maximum capacity. This gives it more of a cafeteria or fast-food chain feel than other restaurants, but I did not mind this at all because this is exactly how it was in the Philippines. The outdoor patio area is nice though. Albeit a little lacking on the aesthetic side, the tables are spread spaciously, and there are even small tables with couches to lounge around in. Now last but definitely not least, let me get to the wait staff. Nothing against the food, but they are truly what keeps me coming back. I am pretty sure I've met and have been served by every single one of them, and they are all wonderful. They're very friendly and serve to please, but what waiter isn't supposed to do that? What makes them different is just how cool they are. They actually "hang out" with you, as much as they're allowed to, and they really do make you feel like you're a part of their group. They just seem like good people to kick it with even when they're not working. They joke around with you and really do just make sure you're having a great time. So overall, I give Bonchon Katy 5 stars. The food (specifically the chicken that Bonchon is known for), especially after expecting so much from the Bonchon chain, I give maybe a 3/5, but the people who go above and beyond to give excellent customer service is what makes me give this establishment a 5. Also, with the way they are constantly trying to improve and perfect recipes, I'm sure the quality of their chicken will be excellent as well. read more

The chicken is great.....and I would suggest the bibimbop. The chicken is very crispy and fried very well. My daughters enjoy the soy garlic chicken. read more

Well first the hours posted are wrong. They don't open till noon(12) on Sunday not 11. We have gone four times and never been able to eat because there was always something wrong. Food is "good" not at all great. Price is RIDICULOUS. Way over priced. Good portion sizes but by no means worth what they charged. We eat out a lot and I know of a ton of other restaurants that are better for the price or less expensive. I wouldn't visit again. If everything was priced about 3 or 4 bucks cheaper a plate I would consider coming back. read more

I'm a poor excuse for a Korean. This stuff is so spicy. We always order the bul ddak (spelling?). It's a twist on a traditional red pepper paste rice cake dish. This version includes rice, an assortment of veggies (broccoli and long blockish carrots), and fiery chicken. Do not eat this if you have a weak stomach and have to go to work early the next day. Save it for the weekend. We've also tried the fried chicken (Meh), fries (bomb!), and fried rice (a-okay). The husband, encouraged by a server one time, had a lychee martini. Sweet and strong, he says. The service itself is mostly lacking. The first visit we waited over 10 minutes before a server came. The next two were on point, almost annoying actually as they continued to jump in our conversations... random. The last time I visited, the server disappeared after he brought the food out and I had to hail another server for refills since my mouth was on fire. Lackluster service aside, I would still encourage folks to check it out. Just ask for more than a cup of water beforehand in preparation. read more

Not impressed! Food was ok, service needs much improvements. Waitress was not attentive, she forgot to bring our food. A couple at the next table got one dish served; her date never did get his food. We repeatedly asked for plates and napkins, no napkin was provided. The waitress is young and inexperienced. We don't mind coming back for chicken wings, but I will have to bring my own napkins. read more

Wow ! This has by far got to be one of the best wings that I have ever had. Their unique marination and deep frying technique is to perfection. The ambience is amazing too and can easily be a place to bring your family or just hang out with friends/coworkers. Stylish bar and some nice fusion drinks too !! The staff is very accommodating and the best part is that restaurant has few dishes that also cater towards the vegetarians. Definitely worth your money. You will walk out satisfied and planning your next visit. read more

My wife is Korean and we used to live in Seoul so we are very familiar with Bonchon. Therefore, we had to try it out. We went on a Sunday night and did not even make it to our table. Perhaps we were unlucky, but our experience says the management team at this location has no idea how to run a restaurant. Many of the common mistakes you see on shows like Restaurant Impossible were in ample evidence. First, we walked in and were greeted by... nobody. There was a host desk but no human. We stood by the host desk and nobody came over. Restaurant was full and busy, there was one other group of people waiting. A guy who looked like the owner or manager came over to the host desk, never looked at me and then walked away. Another woman did the same. Manager came back, said something to the other group waiting about their table almost being ready and never looked at me. I finally said, "so are you taking names or what?" at which point he took down my name and said it would be a short wait. This was a good 5 minutes after arriving. We sat down and watched as one waitress audibly complained about how busy the restaurant was and looked lost. Another wandered around, talked with tables, expressed confusion over who was sitting where. The manager was all over the place, two more groups came in behind us and went through the same deal of standing around and looking mystified that nobody was greeting them. After 10-15 minutes of sitting and watching, the manager came over and said it would be about 10 minutes. We decided to leave as we could see from our time there that the waiting for a table would be just the beginning of waiting. We saw plenty of tables looking frustrated waiting for food, we did not see a lot of food arriving. We saw zero tables leave in the time we were there (we were in the restaurant 20 minutes or so, to see no tables finished and out the door over that long a period of time is a bad sign). We finally got up and left and went to another Korean fried chicken restaurant place in the area where we were greeted immediately, seated quickly, treated well with good food. It's a shame as Bonchon is a good franchise, but if the management at this location can't get their act together soon, I can't see it surviving. Hopefully the team at the Pearland location, when it opens, will be a lot better. read more

Came in at 8:30 to order food. They close at 9pm. They seemed nice. Food was great until I woke up the next feeling like shat. It's only the late afternoon and it's been my 9th trip to bathroom. Not just me, but all of my friends got sick. I believe they got us back by undercooking the chicken because we came in too close to their closing time. Will not come back again. And to make matters worse, my ass is on fire because of that korean hot sauce. read more

This place is amazing! We sat at the bar and Dom took the best care of us. We will definitely be back.

u either get super spicy or not. nothing in between. The wings are decent size and it is crunchy. the spicy taste mostly like burnt paprika. it is a fusion korean restaurant but it taste nothing like korean to me. we ordered the bibibap but didn't get the egg on top, and halfway through dinner , waitress realized she forgot the daikon radish. and they ran out of kimchi long time ago. read more

Sweet Three Nail Lounge on Fry Road just north of Mason Road in Katy is AWESOME! The staff welcome you when you come in the door, offer you something to drink, and make you comfortable until your appointment time. When it is your turn, your service is performed in a professional manner. The owner, Kristina, is an artist, painting intricate designs on your nails. Kristina also offers "theme" appointments, such as Valentine's Day, a wedding anniversary, or birthday parties for young girls. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend Kristina and Sweet Three Nail Lounge. read more

I have been so excited to try this place out. Drove out of the way to come in to order some take out. The place was busy and noisy. When I asked the person at the front to order some food to go he said, "oh no we don't have food to go now, we might not have it to go for a while." I was very put off by the response. I felt like I was a bother to him because I wasn't dining in. I simply wanted to order some food to take home for my family to try. Won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Moving from Virginia, Bonchon chicken was one of the things I missed the most. I was so excited when they announced their opening and I have been their regular customer since. Their wings never disappoint, especially with the spicy sauce. Minus one star because of the customer service. One time I was sitting at the table, the whole time the waiter never bothered to ask if I wanted to order a drink first while waiting for my friends. The manager is very professional and courteous though. When the waitress took our order wrong, he was kind enough to come apologize, brought us the one we wanted and gave us a togo box for the other one. If you are a fan of Korean chicken wings, I highly recommend this place! read more

Waited an hour and a half. Never received two of the four sides we ordered, nor the chicken. Waiter all but disappeared. Never received one of the six plates we needed. Never received two of the six sets of chopsticks we needed. My fiancé's mother waited 30 minutes for the staff to realize they forgot to get her a glass of water, only to have them come back in another 30 minutes and realize it again. My sister's boyfriend never got a refill on his water. When we decided to leave (for obvious reasons), the manager tried to blame my fiancé for not telling the manager that there were issues--he'd been standing near our table for at least 30 minutes of the 90 or so that we were there. read more

Am I addicted yet? Since my first visit, I've frequented this place with my brother and our friend AT LEAST once a week. Now we walk in slapping high fives, pretty much knowing the whole crew and cracking jokes with them. "Bonchon" means "hometown" in Korean. When I hear "hometown", I think of a place where everybody is welcome; picture an extended family or a close knit large group of friends. That's what I feel when I walk in. The manager is constantly walking around, making sure all his guests are satisfied. On one stormy Houston night, he was outside, fervently waiting, umbrella in hand to escort his guests to the door. I can go on and speak so highly of the wait staff, but I've digressed. I must continue to the real content of this review: their food - specifically their KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN! Look at the wall close to the patio exit; notice all the cities worldwide that have become addicted. Bonchon is huge in Asia. I've lived in the Philippines for a good number of years, and when Bonchon arrived in the Philippines, it became an instant hit! They are known for their Korean flavored twice fried crack- I mean chicken. After leaving the Philippines, I salivate just remembering the meals I've savored. Having been previously blessed with the twice fried goodness Bonchon offers, my expectations were high. I've talked to one of the managers, and being a frequent guest, I can tell that they are still perfecting their chicken. Not that it is a bad thing, it just means that means that they strive to create the best that they can offer. First time wasn't as crispy as I expected, however each succeeding visit, it got crispier. Sometimes the spiciness level of spicy varies. I like mine quite hot. The flavors, though are there; just the way I remembered. Fried chicken wings with a light glaze of sweet soy garlic or a more aggressive spicy taste. I suggest you get a combination of both. One of the waiters encouraged me to get the chicken katsu. "How can I order anything other than their specialty?" But I acquiesced. Stick to their wings as your main course. As far as sides go, I've tried their pot stickers and the tteokbokki. Both very good. So to sum it up, the the food was very very good, but not as I remembered it. Same goes for certain branches of Bonchon that I've visited in the Philippines; each store isn't exactly the same. However, they are constantly perfecting their recipe. I wouldn't be surprised if they do reach the classic Bonchon recipe very soon. The wait staff is amazing. Makes you feel at home and always very attentive to your needs. There's a reason why I keep coming back! read more

The chicken is the best thing here yet. Too bad the sides aren't good not even the fries are good. Management and service definitely needs to be worked on. Food was brought out at random times and they forgot part of my order. I will come back just for the chicken nothing else. read more

We were so excited to try out Bonchon in Katy because everywhere else (LA, DC, etc) blew my mind. What a disappointment. I would have hoped that the food would make up for the lackluster service but it brought the franchise's name to shame. The soy garlic wings lacked the crunch that Bonchon is known for. More specifically, the wings were not twice fried and lacked adequate volume (not enough meat). The only redeeming factor was the flavor of the soy garlic and the seasoned fries. We hope to return in a few months when the restaurant improves the service and the food. read more

I was so excited when iheard this place was coming to Houston! I have friends in NY who always talked about how good it was and after coming back from Korea I was craving some authentic chicken. On a Monday around 3:30pm not to crowded but had more than 5 customers. Immediately we were seated and told that she wasn't or server but our server would assist us soon.... 10 min go by and hostess comes back asking what we would like to drink and again reminded us she wasn't our server. I noticed a server and he said he'd be right with us. 5 more min pass and another guy comes and takes our orders (we still had not recieved our waters) Finally we get our drinks and shortly after our appetizers and chicken. The dumplings were a bit to crunchy for my liking, but the chicken was delicious! (we ordered the half and half on both the appetizers and the chicken) I love spicy and felt the chicken had just enough kick. I will be back to try the soju- hopefully when I return the service will be a bit faster. read more
