The food was decent, the Bibimbap wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't the worst either. The Chicken Katsu is HUGE, so much food. Those season fries are pretty great! The service was subpar but it could be because it was lunch (No rush at all), but the two servers were busy cleaning instead of keeping eyes on the customers. read more

Went on my lunch break to try it out. Spent 90% of my time waiting... Finally got my food which was just okay - definitely not worth the price... I only had maybe 10 min left to eat so I asked for a to go box. The lady brought me a tiny box so u was able to fit my chicken, but not my fries. I asked for another one for my fries she said okay and took them. I thought maybe she was going to box it for me. Nope. She threw them away and returned with an empty box. I asked what I would do with the box since She just took my food away. She looked so confused and had to ask if she really did and if she did what she threw away. I did get new fries so that was one redeeming factor, but definitely not an experience I would want again. It was worth a try, but will not be returning. read more

I've passed this place several times over the last couple of months and we finally decided to try it. Gotta say I'm glad we did. The ambiance of the place is cute and cozy with the red booths and the black paint with the white and red writings and pictures on the wall. So now to the good stuff....THE FOOD. Of course I had the fried chicken but I did the combo with half spicy and half soy&garlic. Maaaaannnnnn, let me tell that spicy is nothing to play with lol. It had me sweating with the FIRST bite! But I could NOT put it down. I'll definitely be back for some more chicken and I would like to try some other things on the menu. Oh and I had the SOJU flight. If you never had Korean vodka, I suggest you try the SOJU flight. You get to pick 3 flavors of the vodka to try. I had the Apple, strawberry and lychee flight. I give them all 5 stars. All in all, I know I'll be back to enjoy more food and more drinks. read more

Had such a bad experience at Bonchon last night with some friends. The food was good, but they had NO steamed rice available. We ordered at about 715 and waited til 830 for rice. I don't understand why no one told us there wasn't any rice available or why we had to wait for a full batch of rice to be cooked just for 6 orders of rice. I also don't understand why a Korean restaurant didn't have any rice ready?? We kept asking our waiter Gabe about time and ETA for rice and he hustled (and I mean HUSTLED) to make sure we were ok. I honestly felt so bad for the kid because he obviously felt bad and saw that our meal was ruined. The manager however (Victor) was TERRIBLE. He only came to apologize because we asked to speak with him. He never came up to us to check up on us, and he didn't even offer to compensate our meal because we waited for so long. We complained several times but when we looked to see where he was- he was standing at the bar hanging out with his other coworkers. Our waiter Gabe was doing so much to make sure we were ok. To put that cherry on top, the rice was undercooked and a tad crunchy. TBH, it was the least of our worries. Tldr: not coming back here. Not til Victor is talked to about his management priorities and maybe Gabe becomes the new manager (jk) read more

I've been here a couple of times now. I will give it a 3 because I can see potential. At the beginning, service was slow and hectic. You could tell there was no organization on who had what tables. At times our server would go missing and we would have to ask for someone else. We were excited to eat bonchon bc we had it in Boston for sometime. FLAVOR is on point, BUT the few times I've ordered the drumsticks, it was not cooked all the way. Still saw pink closer to the bone. Not a big fan of the appetizers as everytime we've ordered them, something is wrong (either we never get it or potstickers were frozen still in the middle). What I'd like to see is that we get more Daikon with the chicken and that the slaw is also included like they do in the locations up north. read more

Ever since visiting Korea, I have a terrible weak spot for Korean fried chicken. It simply does not compare to American chicken. My boyfriend and I have visited several times in the past few months and while service can be hit or miss, the chicken never is. We enjoy the soy garlic chicken combo and it is always delicious. That being said, I was disappointed the first time we dined to find out the only white meat served with soy garlic is in the form of chicken strips (which were hardly satisfying, they were very dry and tough). I'm not a huge fan of drumsticks themselves but Bonchon makes them well enough I won't complain that I'm not eating breast meat. Overall, the chicken is crispy, has great flavor, and tastes authentic enough for my Korean boyfriend to cure any feelings of homesickness. With regards to the other dishes served at Bonchon, some of them look very appetizing but the prices are just too high to even venture to try them. Bulgogi, one of my particular favorites, is way overpriced at $16, when you could normally enjoy this dish at many Korean restaurants for half the price. Even though I also feel the fries are slightly too high, they are decent and a must while you are waiting for your chicken to cook. So, go for the chicken! It is good! You might have to wait, but it is worth it. Would I recommend other dishes? Not so much. read more

Hey! It's actually not that bad. I thought it was going to be a pricy overrated place like dok and bap but it was affordable and decent. came here on a Friday around 1. They were not busy and we were seated immediately and our waitress took care of our drink order while we looked through the menu. We ordered the lunch size small Combo wings (8) , half spicy half soy garlic for $8. Lunch portion smothered fries for $2.50 and the salmon ball. Our fries came out first and it was hot and delicious and well seasoned. Our wings came out next, piping hot, crunchy, and delicious. We didn't like how big the chicken was, maybe because we were expecting bdub/wing stop size chicken wings, but these wings were huge! We would've preferred the smaller wings. The salmon ball came out last and that was my favorite. Probably because of the no carbs part so I wouldn't have such a big food coma afterwards and the salmon wasn't over cooked so it wasn't dry. All in all, I like this place and will return! read more

Bonchon Katy - Chicken Wings Near Me - Katy, Texas

You know a place is going to be good when the line is out the door and the wait time is long. Bonchon is just such a place. This new location has only been open for a few days and they haven't even had their grand opening. However, they rock! The food is picture perfect and taste just as great! When the menu said "drums" I thought they were talking about wome itty-bitty drummettes. NO! They are FULL SIZE DRUMSTICKS! Friggin' huge! The wings are just as big! I knew I couldn't eat all of them so I went with a traditional Korean dish called Japchae. It's glass noodles with red peppera, carrots, spinach, mushrooms, and thinly sliced marinated beef stir fried with sesame oil with their signature Bonchon Soy Garlic Sauce. OMG! Sooooooo good! I had a side of Kimchi(fermented cabbage) and a bottle of Soju to wash it down. Bonchon looks like a regular fastfood place but it serves up the best food! I hope they open a location in Dallas soon! I bet they would be just as busy as this location and be super popular! Totally worth the hour drive! read more

A friend brought me here, and I was immediately impressed. When I looked at the menu, I had that realization that I wanted to return several more times so that I could try everything on the menu. I had a hard time choosing what to order. I've now been twice, and plan to return often. The chicken is incredible and a real staple. The rice portions are huge, I had the French fries today and they were perfect. I brought some foodie friends, and they were impressed. This place offers something in Sugar Land that others cant. Fried chicken, excellent rice/stir fries, in an authentic way, with some modern atmosphere. Get here! read more

Bon Chon is good. I didn't try anything else but the shu mai. And it was not good at all. Steamed mushy. By its ok. We were there for the Bon chon. Let's talk about the service. Our waiter tried his best. I mean it's a soft opening I get it there is gonna be some issues. Most of the servers were all over the place. Flustered and not composed. The hostesses need personalities quick. Wake up drink some coffee something. You're in customer service. Make it count. The owner was polite and took the shu Mai off our bill. He was very apologetic. My advice for him would be to invest in a floor manager to hire and train his staff. The flow and energy needs to be more cohesive. Spend the money and time on that and it will pay off. Some owners are just that jut owners and are not leaders and managers. Just hire the right people and invest in training and it will benefit the business. I will come back just order Bon chon and a beer . I hope they get it together soon. Bad service can shut a business down fast. read more

Talk about unbelievable!.....and not in a good way. My boyfriend I got to restaurant first excited for the fried chicken. We were sat about five minutes of arriving, and as we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. We thought a great start not knowing what was to come. We saw the busser working his butt off as we looked at the busy room. What we also noticed was a lot of tables looking confused. Our waiter came over took our order after a good 10 minutes, which we understood. Our group arrived after 5 minutes of getting our drinks. Our waiter came over and said he would be back. 15 minutes later our waiter disappeared, and a new person took our full order. Drinks came but easily disappeared as it was somewhat hot in the restaurant. We waited another 15 for appetizers. At this point no one refilled half of our drinks, gave us 5 plates, and 4 chopsticks(mind you their was six of us), and to confuse us more it was a different waiter. So about 50-60 minutes have gone by since we had ordered our food, and no one has checked on us( refill drinks, bring us that extra plate, and still not enough utensils). Not until the busser, the one guy who seems to know what he was doing came. We told him what happened, and before he could act the manager who was dressed like he was coming from a cruise ship called him over to drop what we needed so he could flip tables. Now we were getting mad. We were wishing food would come out, but now it was time to think of other options. My boyfriend and I were embarrassed, because we took my sister's in-laws from out of town, and then this happens. My brother-in-law went to go talk to the manager only to be told we were to blame that we didn't try hard enough to get refill on drinks. I was dumbfounded, and then he changes to that their fryer guy never showed up for second shift. Hey I get it! It sucks when staff doesn't show up, but it's the manager(s) on duty to resolve the issue. I only saw the manger micro manage the busser, and not really help (refill waters, deliver food, apologize at tables for wait times, etc). So we left with no drinks, no chicken, and only disappointment. I really hope they can figure this out, but until then I won't be taking anyone with me if I ever try it again. read more

(Scroll to end for READERS SUMMARY) Absolute bust. My girlfriend and I heavily anticipated the opening of Bonchon for several weeks but ultimately, we were both let down. I can't help but feel like a manager is at fault for hiring what appeared to be a very green staff. We weren't even seated promptly and I believe there were maybe six or seven people in there. Empty. Our waitress was very skiddish and condescending through our entire meal. It started off badly with tea that came out and tasted awful. Bland, room temperature and zero ice cubes. I had it replaced with a Coke. We ordered their "Half & Half" wings which is a mixture of regular wings with their signature sauces and their signature spicy wings. The regular wings, they're tasty, no doubt. But the spicy wings? I like, and can handle spicy food but these are insanely spicy. They were not enjoyable. I want flavor with a slight kick. Not a kick to the face, stomach and ass with snot pouring out of my nose while my taste buds are left in shambles... Anyway, neither my girlfriend or myself were enjoying the spicy wings so, I spoke up. "These wings.... these are just insanely spicy... I can't enjoy these at all... my girlfriend loves Korean wings and she is even having a tough time with this..." My complaint/plea was met with the following words. "Would you like a cup of ranch?" Not really. What I would like is another batch of wings. Or possibly have the bill adjusted? Maybe you could take those wings away because we're not enjoying them, and offer us something entirely different? Anything besides, a bandaid which in this case, was ranch dressing. Again I said, "Well, my girlfriend frequents Korean cuisine and she can't handle these, either." To which the waitress responded, "Well, I'm half Korean and it IS spicy. You're just not used to it." I'm feeling angry by this point. I start eavesdropping as my waitress addresses other tables and other waitresses do the same. I continue to hear, "Oh, it's a soft opening." "It's just a soft opening." Why? Because your place of business is failing and providing awful service, that is the generic excuse? I heard "soft opening" 10+ times when dealing with errors, confrontation, dislike and bad service. Don't open your business if you're not ready to provide the proper experience. Period. The couple dining behind us asked for silverware, which Bonchon apparently, doesn't provide. Ignorant. Don't assume everyone is cultured enough to use chopsticks and don't make a customer feel ashamed or stupid because they're not familiar with using them. As soon as the couple received their food, they immediately asked for to-go boxes and bailed. You could hear the dissatisfaction in their voices and see it in their mannerisms. "Is everything alright?" - Waitress "Yep. I guess." - Me My voice/body language should say enough but she just walks off, apathetic as can be. Manager doesn't bother to come around to the six or seven people dining in this establishment to see how things are going. This place is brand new yet, it feels bleak. It's depressing and uninviting. The staff really helps to drive this point home too, unfortunately. And, be ready for someone to jam some tunes from behind the bar. Loudly and obnoxiously. We had ordered a second dish in addition to the wings that was absolutely atrocious as well. I've forgotten the name but it's really not important. It was a ton of chicken and rice and cost $15+ which is asinine. This place needs to leave their NYC prices at home. This is Katy, TX. People are not keen on paying $15+ for chicken and rice. Very cheap products. When it was all said and done, my girlfriend and I were extremely unhappy, most of our food still on the plate, no desire to seek a to-go box and the check read $35 and some change. BEFORE TIP. Unacceptable. We will never go back to this place and it bummed us both out, severely. They're several competitors around town who offer great service and quality food at a much healthier price. Soft Opening? Yeah well, I'll softly open the door on my way out of Bonchon, forever. READERS SUMMARY Terrible staff. Where to sit? Who knows. Cold, uninviting atmosphere. Pathetic tasting/looking glass of tea. Misleading "minimalist" menu. Wings so spicy you would rather die than eat one more. Complaints about food gets you a side of ranch to "cover it up." Rap music blasting from a boom box behind the bar. Condescending remarks. Ridiculously expensive prices. $16 + (rice, chicken... really?) No pen when given receipt. "It's a soft opening." "It's a soft opening." read more

3 stars, more for service and accommodation than for the food. Soooo no more Katy bonchon for me. :( Now if you wanna try out Bon Chon, insist that they make a brand new batch for you and be liberal with the sauce, here's why: I was very excited at the prospect of Bon Chon opening in town because I've been dreaming about the best Korean fried chicken I had at Bon Chon in VA. Boy was I disappointed! Had a medium order of drums, half half (garlic and hot sauces). Also kim chi fried rice- they do not have this on the menu but was willing to mix in my side order of kim chi into the rice in the kitchen- yes! The rice came out first, it was ok, a bit mushy for my taste and the kim chi was under-seasoned so didn't add much to the rice but my friend liked it. The guy who brought the rice out was very excited, wanted us to try it out and let him know how it tastes because they've not made it before. We invited him to taste it with us which he did! I was surprised that he took us up on our offer but it was cute because he was very natural and genuinely curious. The chicken came out shortly thereafter. First bite? A huge disappointment because the temperature was barely warm, no double fried crunch, and the sauce did not fully coat the drum so it was rather bland. The hot sauce is better than the garlic sauce. The waitress came by and we told her the drums weren't hot at all and we asked for extra sauce on the side. She was like ok and sorry we can't give you any extra sauce- the wings are how we serve them. Ok! We told her she forgot the pickled radish. She brought it out- very cool (great on temperature), but the cut was big, under-seasoned, and not pickled long enough so there's a bit of that raw radish smell. Luckily someone else came by (manager or owner?) and asked how things were. I commented that the wings were lukewarm. He said he'll take care of it. Our new wings came out, hotter but not piping hot (he swung by our table thereafter and asked if the wings were piping hot). Hmmm...their wings are definitely not cooked to order. Still not crunchy and under-sauced. Still not impressed. :( read more

I tried this place for lunch. They have a lunch menu with specials Monday through Friday. The prices were reasonable. I had a combination of chicken wings and drumsticks. They were very good! Wings and legs were rather large and cooked to perfection. I prefer my wings extra crispy and that's the way they came out. A good crispy crust on the outside and juicy on the inside. I saw someone else having a bowl and that also look delicious. May try that on my next visit. read more

This place sucks. If you want to be completely underwhelmed and disappointed, then this is your place. Don't wast your money on this place cause it wont be around long. read more

The food here was a disappointment. Ordered spicy and soy garlic and my wings came out in 3 minutes. It takes 13 minutes to make regular wings and Bon chon is suppose to be double fried. How did my wings come out in 3 minutes?! My wings were COLD and when the food came out, I had to ask 3 times for silverware. My wings came out BEFORE my octopus ball appetizer. The server even admit that they make a huge batch of wings for the "rush" during the day and that we got wings from that rush. Our wings were small and they were miscut wings. You could see the bone hanging out. If I'm paying $1.20 per wing I expect it to be edible and at least GOOD. The server knew that we were disappointed so he came back to check on us literally every 3 minutes. The sauce for soy garlic was bland and spicy was just a sweet spicy sauce. Nothing special. The manager came out to apologize for the miscut wings and said that it wasn't their usual wing shipment size....then why serve it to customers?! Don't half ass my meal and expect me to come back. read more

07/06/17 was my 4th or 5th time here. I was eating with three more friends. We all ordered the same things from the lunch menu. 8 wingS 1/2 & 1/2. Three of us received our order and approximately 15 min. later the last order arrived. She cut into her wing and it wasn't cooked all the way, it was still red inside. She cut into a 2nd wing and the same thing. We finally got the server's attention and made her aware of the problem. She put in another and it took forever. Have you had every kind of chicken wing possible? If you haven't eaten at Bonchon I can assure you, you have not...and this is stated by a native Buffalonian who has had the experience of eating at Frank and Teresa;s since the early 1970's. Regardless of your wing history, Bonchon wings are an experience that should not be missed. Aside from the unique fusion (all Wings are accompanied by pickled radish in place of traditional celery and ranch dip-a positively delectable complement to the unique flavor of the wings) the limited topping options are by no means a limitation to the deliciousness of these wings. There are only two options Soy Garlic and Spicy however neither is a disappointment. All the wings are fried to perfection and either topping (typically the servers will recommend a balance of each in your order) is excellent, chocked full of extremes in flavors (garlic, soy, korean pepper, onion etc.) that are particularly well balanced sufficiently to evoke a response from every taste center for a pleasant experience, The size of the wings are remarkably generous, the service is quite pleasant, efficient and if you are a Bonchon novice, quite instructional. They will typically offer a sample of each flavor which I would encourage you to try however the spicy option is my favorite and regardless of your timidity I would encourage you to at least try once. There is a full bar, local (regional) draft beer options and a number of unique mixed drinks including a soju-Hite bomb. Well worth the experience. read more

Review from Saturday, August 13, 2016 Our experience here was pretty awful. We went at 3:45 in the afternoon and were seated quickly, however no one acknowledged us for at least 10 minutes. We had a party of 6- 2 adults and 4 kids. When I took my daughter to the bathroom, someone had literally pooped on the floor. It was stepped in and dried all over the bathroom. Upon leaving the bathroom, we finally had someone ask if we had been helped. We ordered waters and potstickers to start with. And then ordered a 20 pc. Strip and seasoned fries. The potstickers took around 10-15 minutes- no big deal. Then, we sat. And we waited. And waited. Nothing. No apologies from our waiter- in fact, our waiter disappeared. We had to ask for more water. At 4:30 (45 minutes later, if you're keeping track) I asked another waitress if she could find out what was going on with our food. She went and checked and said there were still a few orders ahead of us. Seriously?! We then asked for our check as we had somewhere to go. Our waiter then came and told us he needed a manager to get the check for us. He then went back into the kitchen and proceeded to bring out 2 more orders for other tables. Finally at 4:50 we just left $10 on the table and left- we still had not received a check. The potstickers were delicious, so it was very disappointing to not get our actual meal. Looking out at the restaurant, almost all of the tables had lots of waters and no food. I heard waiters walking up to tables asking "have you been helped?" There seemed to be no organization to this restaurant. No table assignments. We saw our waiter in the kitchen chopping lemons. Overall, a huge disappointment and lots of hungry customers. read more
