Overall a pretty good experience. Food: The chicken was crispy and definitely double or triple fried as good kfc is supposed to be. Tried both flavors, preferred the spicy. Parmesan fries were flavorful. Service: Could be improved a bit. I counted over 10 people on the floor, and they seemed to lack coordination. I have been waiting for this place to open up for months. So excited that I caught the soft opening this week. Korean fried chicken has been subpar In Houston so far except for Tore ore in HMart. I ordered the wings and the strips half and half (half spicy half soy ginger). The menu stated that the wings were made to order so it could take 30 mins to get your order however even with a full restaurant, our orders came out pretty quick. First few bites were awesome. Perfect crisp, nice flavor...then the heat hits. Holy moly the "spicy" is spicy (I'm talking Thai gourmet 3-4 peppers spicy) My coworker can usually do spicy pretty well but he was crying. Even my husband who eats extra spicy crawfish at crawfish cafe needed milk and he's lactose intolerant! Thank goodness for the pickled radish to help tone down the heat. I only managed 4 wings and had to stop. Soy ginger flavor was awesome though. The fries were also great. Bonchon has a terrific fryer. Advice to the establishment higher ups: offer different levels of spiciness so you don't lose patrons who can't handle the only intensity of spiciness u currently offer and u'll have better luck keeping folks coming back (i.e. Dallas) I'm sure there r many ppl like me that like spicy but also like to feel our lips at the end of the meal read more

Love me some Korean fried chicken wings. I was so happy to find out they opened a Bonchon in the Houston area (Katy). This rating is mainly for the food. I mainly order the half and half wings. WARNING: The hot is really spicy! Expect to wait 10-12 mins for your food. A bit overpriced but still worth it. Very clean restaurant with a small bar on the side. First time we went to Bonchon, it was in Chicago and was really good. So when we found out they had a location in Katy, we had to try it. This used to be one of my favorite spot, but it's changed a lot. The bulldak is no longer spicy, comes with hardly any of their spicy sauce, and the rice cakes have changed. They are now using sliced rice cakes and they come out way too tough to eat. read more

I was super excited when I saw Bonchon was coming to Katy, but wasn't blown away. For the wings, the spicy is SPICY and overwhelms your tastebuds. The soy garlic is pretty good, but not the best sauce I've had (I personally like Hoodadak wayyy better). The seasoned fries are good...but they're fries. I was excited to try the tteokbokki (rice cakes with spicy sauce) but it was WAY too spicy. For some reason, the spice level is just way too high to be enjoyable (and I like spicy foods). Overall, a bit disappointing. Opt for Hooddadak instead. read more

Went with a couple of friends to have lunch. Had the following: *The $31.99 Large with 15 wings and 8 drumsticks: Half and Half (that's half Spicy and half Soy Garlic) really good. Crispy yet moist in the inside. The spicy definitely has a kick though so be careful! Only weird thing was the sizing of the chicken *The Salmon Avocado ball - Amazing!! Really liked it. There's cucumbers, bite sized chunks of avocado, salmon and crab meat. All topped with spicy mayo and unagi eel sauce. Topped with crispy panko. All my friends enjoyed this. *Spicy rice cakes - we didn't really enjoy this as much as we were quite full. But I didn't really like the mozzarella cheese on top. *Fries - not very crispy. Kinda mushy so was okay. *Daikon - comes with the meals. Not a big fan of it. But my friends usually like it but thought this was one chopped really big and thick. We ordered the medium combo with has large drumsticks and wings, for the sauce we ordered half half which is their spicy and their garlic soy. Order came out within 10 minutes unlike dak and bop who usually takes 30 minutes. It wasn't bad at all... the taste was good but was missing something. It was crispy and a bit hard, I'm thinking it was partially fried beforehand and upon ordering it gets refried and drenched in sauce so therefore some parts of the ckn was hard and dry. The place could be kept up a little better, or maybe we came after the lunch rush... the floor was pretty dirty with a lot of trash laying around. I love this place the first visit with my friend and noticed something different and I booked the karaoke room for 2 hours, but the reservation fee per hour was so expensive, we though, is only $30.00 but it turns $40.00, but the food is good the Soju is good. I have been wanting to try the Soju for a long time, but no flavor of the Korean store when I bough it. This Soju 101 places was so good and has a different flavor. We have fun singing. The wings are similar to your Wingstop/BWW but more juicy with a nice crispy skin. Flavor was good for both with the spicy being my choice. Had an impromptu date night here thanks to seeing Korean Fried Chicken on Food Network earlier in the day. We waited at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes and no one came by. Everyone was busy. We decided to just sit at the bar since we could see that all the tables were full. The bartender was so kind and helpful. We ordered the chicken, half spicy and half soy garlic. The spicy chicken is actually quite...SPICY, lol. I really liked it though. Could only eat two pieces because they were big...and spicy. I found the soy garlic chicken to be a little too sweet for my taste but it contrasts well with the spicy. We also ordered the fried rice and seasoned fries. This place definitely needs improvement. I've had Bonchon before when I was in NYC and I thought it was the bomb so when I heard it was coming to Katy, I was really excited. When I first went to New York, I was 22 years old and naive. Since then, I've tried many other places that serve Korean fried chicken but I always had Bonchon in the back of my mind. We ordered the combo #2, half and half, chicken katsu, along with a side of regular fries. We were seated in a two top right in front of the kitchen, which we were completely fine with..no big deal. But our experience there wasn't as great as we hoped it would be. First off, the place is still brand new and the staff is still learning but I didn't see a single manager there out on the floor managing. I was seated facing the kitchen doors so I saw the servers going in and out of that kitchen. All the servers looked super confused right as they walked through those doors trying to drop off food to the tables. Our server (forgive me, I can't remember his name) was very talkative and super friendly and also awkward at times. Apparently, our table number was switched with another table who also ordered the same thing we did so a lot of our food that we ordered first actually went to that other table instead. -_____- We also heard the servers talking and confusing one another in the back and people were also dropping glasses and plates everywhere..it was pretty bad/awkward to watch. As I'm scanning the place, I also noticed a couple of other tables who were just as frustrated..if not worse. Food took almost 30-45 min. to come out with no explanation. Everything was just a mess there and we were really disappointed because that was not how I remembered Bonchon in New York to be. We probably wouldn't go back again but hey, who knows? read more

My family and I literally live less than 5 mins away from this plaza and we love Bonchon! One of the awesome servers even recognized us! The service is outstanding. Literally, they are so upbeat and just ready to cater to their clients! I haven't gone during dinner yet, but lunch time hasn't been too hectic so I haven't endured the horrendous wait. We usually just order the wings and fries. One time I tried the broken glass noodle dish, and wasn't too impressed for the price. I would gladly return for the chicken. My only disappointment from this establishment is that I recently came thirty minutes after opening. We sat down, ordered, I got up to use the restroom, returned and checked one email to look up to see our food was served. That was ridiculously fast. One of our chickens looked like it was reheated so we tried that piece and another one only to find out the meat was dry and warm. It wasn't hot as if it just finished cooking. We mentioned it to the waiter, he insisted it was just cooked by happily redid our order. I was so relieved he did that because again, they have amazing service! Wings are delicious. I went during their soft opening awhile back and I will say, yes, the wait was horrendous. They ran out of items that they shouldn't have- like the chicken. So they had to marinade a new batch which takes awhile. Do I fault them? No because they didn't realize how inundated they were going to get. That's a great sign that people want to try them out. Bad for service? Sure but keep in mind, it was their soft opening- a time where they figure out what works and what doesn't. I waited over an hour for my food at the time- thank goodness for the bar LOL. Once I did receive my wings, I was pretty content with what was put in front of me. We had a great experience here! Was nervous when other people said it was loud, had bad service and bland food. My family and I stopped by at lunch on a Saturday. It was very pleasant--not loud at all. Our server was great and let us know his recommendations from the menu. Took advantage of a road trip to from Austin to Houston to stop in at the new, highly-anticipated Katy Bonchon. The fried chicken is scrumptious, as you would expect, although it could have been fried a tad longer - some of the skin was still rubbery and thick. We got half spicy and half soy garlic. We like spicy food but the spicy was a bit too much for our tastes. Next time we will do a plate of soy garlic. We got a medium combo order, and we were surprised at how much food it was. The sides were not so great. The bibimbap was not very good - the stone bowl wasn't hot enough to crisp the rice, and the amount of chicken (which was an upcharge) was minimal. And it had an unexpected amount of mushrooms, which isn't traditional and which was not ideal for our group of non-mushroom-lovers. We also got the japchae - it was basically a small plate of stir fried noodles with veggies and beef. Nothing special, and not worth $13.95. I was really looking forward to Bonchon's opening. I came in on Saturday of their soft opening during lunch and there was about a 15 minute wait. We ordered a medium combo (wings + drumsticks) with half and half (soy garlic + spicy) and an order of the Parmesan fries. Wings: crispy but not as crispy as Dak & Bop is. Really enjoyed the soy garlic flavor and spicy isn't really that spicy (maybe that's because I can handle spicy??) all the wings were pretty decent size and around the same size as well. Fries: did not like the texture. Reminds me of spicy fries. Would have enjoyed them better if they weren't rough. Overall, the service still needs to be worked on. It seems that they haven't fully trained their staff but I accepted how it was since they just opened. Wings are good, but kind of overpriced. (In my opinion) will probably come back however.
