So I ordered from this place the following; Order of spicy chicken Side of fries Corn I wasn't impressed with the spicy chicken, it was dry like taken out from fridge and cooked. No glaze or anything, I almost choked on it. They need to work on the fries, tasted a little bit of oil on the fries, nothing to brag about. Lastly the corn , I give it a 6.5 out of 10, it was ok . I am surprised about the reviews here. I came here for the first time and it was clean and nice inside. The service was very good and they give a 5% discount when using cash. This is across one the first Bonchons that opened up in the US. I ordered the spicy Korean chicken sandwich and fries which was made fresh so there is a little wait and I ordered the Korean donuts. Everything was really good! The chicken was fried nicely and had good flavor plus a good amount of cold slaw and was not soggy. They use good quality white chicken and i like the bread they use... like a brioche bun. Bonchon was my first experience with Korean fried chicken almost ~10 years ago; I'm surprised I haven't written a review for this location. Even a decade later, I still get occasional mad cravings for bonchon from time to time. The flavor and quality have mostly stayed consistent over the years and I've never had any major problems with the food or service. The chicken has a unique crispy exterior that's always distinguished itself from other Korean chicken spots. The sauce is extremely flavorful which is really good, but I find it hard to eat it just by itself (I usually have it with rice which balances out the saltiness). The introduction of the lunch special a few years ago was nice as well. My go-to order is either the soy garlic wings or strips with rice. Their fries used be steak fries which I loved, but at some point, they switched over to regular fries which are just okay. Overall, definitely worth a try for any Korean chicken lover. read more

There's an older Asian lady who gives zero fucks about what you actually want enough to pay attention to you order so just keep that in mind and you should be fine. After a particularly bad experience at a different Bonchon location at Harvard Square in Boston, visiting another Bonchon again wasn't very high on my bucket list. I've always known this location in Fort Lee was near me, but didn't bother to try it until I got a promo code from Seamless to use today. I ordered a small (12 piece) signature fried boneless wings, as I usually prefer boneless over bone-in wings. I really only eat bone-in wings if they are my only option. Imagine my disappointment after getting home and realizing that they gave me bone-in wings instead of what I had ordered. Since it would take me at least 25 minutes round-trip to walk there and back again, I decided not to go back to fix my order. I was originally going to write a review on the boneless wings, but this review will have to be about their bone-in wings instead. After the initial disappointment, I was disappointed again at the fact that there is very little meat on each wing. When you bite in, it is mostly just the fried batter. I did like that the wings were extremely crispy though, which is something that beats most takeout places. They have holes in the box so that the steam can escape, which keeps the chicken from getting soggy. However, after finishing this meal, I just felt like it was very greasy since all I was eating was basically the crisp. I also noticed when picking up my order that they have another sauce option called Sweet Crunch that was not on the menu on Seamless' website. I feel like every business owner should have the responsibility of ensuring their menus are always up-to-date so that the customer can order anything that is offered by the restaurant. I definitely would have picked that sauce over the one I got if I had known it was an option. Lastly, I personally think that the chicken is a little overpriced for what you get. With such little meat, the small size should not be worth $12. I probably would not pay for that again if I don't have a promo code to use. I feel like there are many other better Korean fried chicken places on the opposite side of Fort Lee that are not only more fairly priced, but have more meat on each wing. This place is my everyday luncheon place, and I occasionally take out for dinner. Although the size of meat is a lot smaller than one at KFC, I would say that it is another genre of fried chicken. They cook meat and tossed the sauce right before handing out to you. If you love the unique soy based sauce and juicy meat, this place is the one you should come. They always warn you 20 minutes of cooking time, but the strips I ordered for lunch only took about 12. The rice had a good bite and the pickled radish was a nice palate cleanser. Service - 4/5. What in the world happened to this place in Fort Lee? Moved here a couple years ago, and so happy to have a Bon Chon so close (used to frequent the one in the Hells Kitchen and Times Square area when I still lived in Manhattan). We usually order a half and half (soy garlic and sweet heat) chicken strips and french fries. They must be using a different supplier for the chicken because it USED to be crispy and delicious but the last time I went it was a completely different and AWFUL chicken. It wasn't crispy. The sauce was only half on the chicken, so I guess they are skimping on the sauce now too. And the chicken strip sizes tasted as if it was cooked days ago in very old oil. It also reminded me of the terrible chicken strips that are made in KFC down the street. Definitely not my idea of good korean fried chicken at all. They also used to give a pretty good size container of pickled radishes as a complimentary side dish, but they have now made them very small (ramiken size). Why did you change the recipe and type of chicken? Honestly, it was inedible. Please return to your old recipe and chicken supplier. Solid 3.5 Chicken is good, juicy inside and semi crispy outside. Home for 1/2 soy 1/2 spicy combo. Not spicy at all, need to go back to the original Recipe with a kick. There a very sweet servers there, and I really understand they can get busy, but need to improve on their system or don't take orders. Super bowl is not a new event and they should plan accordingly. U orders 3 days before Super Bowl and still had to wait for my order. There were about 15 people at the same time and literally 1 person at the register. I heard him say many times to people their orders were not in the system. If you know it's one of the most busy times of the year it's important to plan for the rush on Sunday. They seem to be overwhelmed and I genuinely felt bad for them. I do think they need help, any other time you pick up the service is consistently good and the curbside pick up does work. From the second I walked in, she had tons of attitude and because we had to wait 15-20 mins, I saw this exact same nasty attitude w everyone including customers on phone calls. If I recorded her interactions with people including myself, you would be shocked. We made a big order of close to $200 and let them know 2 days ahead of time and still order wasn't ready on time. Love my chicken but there is ZERO reason why this woman is so nasty and chicken score of 4-5 but staff score if 0. I was driving through NJ and was in the mood for my favorite chicken. Driving to Flushing (and paying an extra toll) was not feasible at the moment so I searched for a BonChon in Fort Lee. Success. It was Sunday evening, so I did not have trouble parking in front. At initial glance, I wondered if this place belonged here. It's next to the Fort Lee Pizzeria and the brick and mortar business consisted of a small room with a limited menu. $12 for medium, $20 for large with the same spicy or soy garlic flavors and french fries. You receive the complimentary daikon but you don't get a 'cole slaw-like' salad. There are 5 tables, one unisex restroom and a plasma tv with Korean programming. No alcohol is served here! The storefront is clean but I feel like it's a BonChon Express (doesn't Taco Bell and Pizza Hut do this?) I appreciated the courteous English speaking staff. I waited 25 minutes for 2 large orders. This was fine. They only accept Visa and MasterCard (no AMEX). When I got home, S and I chomped away. I noticed that the product was a little dry. All BonChon franchises, like superheroes, are not created equal. Just because I see the Bat signal, does not mean I expect Batman to show up. I might get stuck with Bat Chick or Boy Blunder. Ordered half and half large box (drumsticks and wings; two flavors: soy sauce garlic and hot/spicy). A large box is $21.40 plus tax. It comes with a side of pickled radish cubes, which provides nice, cooling contrast to the spicy flavored chicken. If you want to have the pickled radish, make sure you ask for it (it seems like they aren't giving it to everyone, unless you ask for it). Compared to other similar Korean fried chicken franchises (Mad for Chicken & Boom Boom Chicken), I do think Bon Chon has a better frying technique, in that their chicken has the biggest air pocket between the crispy skin and moist chicken meat. The double fry method helps eliminate the layer of fat found in between the skin and meat and keeps the exterior quite crisp. They do use less sauce, which helps keep the crisp, but just enough to provide food flavor and messy, sticky fingers. We called ahead so we can just pick it up when we got there. I highly suggest calling ahead though to save on time (chicken is fried to order, so be patient). They have expanded their menu to include various dumplings and chicken strips. There is metered street parking here (1 quarter per 30 min). Inside, there are 6 tables inside, so you can eat there as well. read more

Bon Chon Chicken serves Korean style fried chicken that is amazingly good. They have a number of location in the tri-state area and some over on the west coast (CA). I ate at the Bon Chon on Lemoine Ave and found the service to be exceptionally good. The staff speaks both English and Korean and are very friendly. The restaurant as amble amount of seating. Parking in front of the store is limited, but if you circle around you should be able to find a spot in no more than 1o min. Furthermore, there is a parking lot around the corner that is free for shoppers (limited to 2 hours). Both the spicy (contains vitamins A & C) and soy garlic are very crispy, juicy and not very greasy. According to Bon Chon, they use a proprietary sauce that stays on the chicken and not on your fingers, which is totally true. The soy garlic is exceptionally sweet and the spicy is very spicy compared to their competition (Boom Boom &Kyedong). You can choose from a number of combination: wings drumsticks, soy garlic, spicy, or a mixture of both. An order of large goes for $20 and the medium is $12 (tax included). As of Oct 2008, theLeonia location no longer provides a free soda with each order, not sure about other Bon Chon locations. Do remember to pre-order 20 minutes prior to pick-up or dinning because the chicken made to order and will take sometime to prepare. I had a medium drumstick and wings with a mixture of both spicy and soy garlic, which also came with a cup of Korean daikon radish.
