Most of the food I got was amazing! However, i had the same exact issue tonight as I did in my previous review. I ordered vegetable potstickers. Received MEAT potstickers. They are two separate options on the menu. After calling, the guy said they don't even have vegetable potstickers and only sell beef ones?? I'm not sure why they would have vegetable on there and able to order if they don't even sell it. Some people don't eat meat or can't for various reasons, so advertising something as veggie and giving meat is extremely harmful. read more

Had to hot wings,the pork belly and the glass noodles, it was a terrific experience, The only thing I didn't like about it was the buns on my pork bellies were a little bit yeasty, but other than that well composed, The coleslaw there is on point, and the french fries there are delicious. Excellent wings and great service. I recently had another 20 wings here and they were exactly what you would expect from Bonchon. No wonder everyone praises their wings. I think I had 15 wings last night by myself. Crunchy, sweet, spicy, savory, I mean everything you expect from their wings. Their management and responsiveness to customers reviews is also one like other. They really are about clients opinion... so no wonder their wings are delicious. Moved to South Riding a few months ago and it was one of the greatest thing knowing there is a Bonchon 5min away. I've been a huge fan of their fairfax location. I've eaten here 6 times now, 5 pick ups and 1 dinein. Crispy batter with juicy meat inside regardless of the wing size. Soy sauce was always delicious and spicy sauce hot but addictive! Full Disclosure: 1st generation infantile, early transplant Korean-American emigre here.  I was invited here traveling business travel by an old friend whose taste in food is quite reliable.  Very interesting take on "Korean barbeque". It is an American-esque Korean fast-food inspired Barbecue joint that comes with the trappings like pickled vegetable side dishes including kimchi (though their cabbage kimchi is more a creamy spicy slaw), sauce glazed meats that are at times fried and not grilled, and no table grills in sight.  No "banchan" (I assume the namesake of the establishment) side dishes either. I am a spice fanatic whom enjoys a healthy sweat with my victuals and decided to order half spicy and half garlic teriyaki-type fried chicken tenders as a lunch special. I earned sweat from the spicy tenders that had a sweet and enjoyable taste accompanying the spicy with a healthy crunch to the breading that contrasted the fresh juiciness of the chicken flesh.  The same texture but a dulled sweetness meandered among a savory sensation with the garlic. My companion and I washed our dishes down with some nameless big brand craft beer and enjoyed the hour heartily as we chatted on the trials of life. Lily Ann was the server on my receipt and made us feel welcome, well-attended, and without want. I ordered for pick up with large size wing and drum stick combo. Last week when I order for pick up I realized they gave me 1/3 of new fresh fried and 2/3 of refried. That was little disappointed. So, this time when I ordered I asked the owner to please give me fresh cooked. But, when I got back home, of course after my kids ate a little bit, I found out everything, all the wings and drumsticks were refried. So, everything was very oily on the outside and the meat was so dry and over cooked, the soy source was also way too much because they redid everything. It made everything too salty and the look of the food was really bad. You could tell what had happened just by looking at the wings and drumsticks. I was so upset and still I am, this is not only $10 or $20 we talking about. This combo cost $35.99!!!! Really???!!!! I called them and they said sorry but sorry doesn't change ANY! Pick Up customers should be treated the same as dine in customers. Please take care to make sure all customers get good food, don't continue to disappoint! read more

So happy to have Bon Chon so close to home. Dining options in South Riding can be sparse so this is a welcome addition. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We decided to sit at the bar. Service was great. Drinks were offered right away and food came surprisingly quick after ordering. My husband ordered a Stella on tap and was pleased that the beer was good and cold. My waters were kept filled thankfully - it was a hot day and I was quite thirsty. We looked over the menu and to be honest were somewhat surprised at the variety of foods offered. We had come for the wings, but decided to try the Shrimp Sumai as well. Our server recommended getting them fried which was on point as they were delicious. I loved the mustard drizzle and thought it complemented the dumpling very well. The chicken (we got 1/2 soy garlic and 1/2 hot) was so crisp and not too heavy with sauce - just enough to lend flavor to the wings. The wings were meaty and bigger than I have been served elsewhere. I love the pickled radish served along to take the heat off the hot wings. My husband also got an order of fries - a huge plate of seasoned fries cooked just right. We couldn't finish and planned to take our leftovers home with us, but left them sitting on the bar. Our server was kind enough to follow us out to bring us our forgotten food (she caught us in front of the Verizon shop). I'm a big wings fanatic - I like them hot, crispy and flavorful. It's hard to impress me when it comes to wings; but this branch exceeded my expectations. This new location is sleek, their food was delicious, and their service was on point. I've visited many bonchon branches around the DMV area. There are two dilemmas when going for wings. You either have to wait for 35+mins for hot crispy wings or you're quickly served with cold wings that have been sitting in the kitchen for god-knows-for-how-long. We were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted kindly by their staff, and were served hot crispy chicken wings that just came out of the fryer not too long after we ordered them. So yummy! They have their frying-serving time and system down for sure. They're also great for take outs - but you know what's better? Eating your favorite crispy hot chicken wings right there as they're served. This location has a chill atmosphere that isn't too loud or too flat. The restaurant also seems pretty new. Their space is clean, spacious, and sleek making it perfect for large gatherings. (Their tall ceilings also make the ambiance - not too loud. You can actually have real conversations). I rarely write any reviews but I'm writing this in hopes that they read this. Let me start by saying my family and I love Bonchon. Their food is always consistent and good. My review is mainly about my experience at Bonchon the other day. I came in for a take out order of medium soy garlic tenders. I also asked for a lot of spicy Mayo and was willing to pay for it. The man who took our order asked me what I use the spicy Mayo for and I said we dip our tenders in it. He proceeded to tell me I shouldn't do that and that it will ruin the flavor. And that their chicken is more expensive than Popeyes because of the marinade. He constantly shamed me from that point on. The crazy thing is that he said well some people use ranch and then gave me some wasabi ranch for free. But yet I can't or shouldn't use the spicy Mayo that I paid for! Anyways, like I said, I truly hope they read this review and learn from this. Please learn to leave your unsolicited opinions to yourself especially if they are critical and unwarranted. read more

The soft opening went really well in my opinion. They will be getting alcohol on board this week and adding pick up and delivery. The chicken is awesome. I like the drumsticks the best, because they had the crunchiest coating. But the strips are easier to chow. I also tried the takoyaki - yum. I really wanted to give this establishment a 5 star rating but I cannot. I ordered half spicy half garlic soy chicken wings. Them alone I would rate in the 4 to 5 range. My wife had bulgogi fried rice which she didn't care for but I would have rated a 3 of 5. I also ordered a bulgogi meal. The beef was a little dry for me. 3/5 Which was disappointing as I haven't had good bulgogi in quite some time now. My wife says she won't go back but I may give them a second chance to see if they were just having an off night as the chicken wings were great. read more

Wow does service and environment have everything to do with the overall experience! I had gone to a different location here in VA, and it was so disappointing. I still wanted to give the franchise a try because I've heard nothing but great things about Bonchon. This location is very clean inside. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food was freshly cooked. Their chicken is most definitely worth the hype if you're into fried chicken. The Korean flavors really work! I also tried their tteokbokki - delicious. It was our first time trying bonchon in this location since they opened. I ordered spicy wings, salmon avocado ball, and side of seasoned fries. Salmon avocado ball was kind of salty, but everything else was perfect! They have plenty of choices other than chicken, so don't worry if you don't like chicken. The service was great too. Our server asked us how's the food, need anything, and refilled our drinks right away. There were alot of people walking in to place an order for take out, but they do not have delivery service. I used to go to BobChon a lot. Hadn't gone in a while cause there wasn't any close to me and I found one near me after craving it today. I go in to order and the lady at the register can barely speak English making it difficult to order. I order a medium wing and she says it's will be 15-20mins. So as anyone would, I sat down n played around on my phone. Come to realize I was sitting there for over 40mins. I go to the register and she's like oh you haven't got your food yet? I was like no, but it's been over 40mins. Couple mins later my food comes out. She brings my food n not even an apology for waiting more than double the quoted time. Not a single ounce of remorse or empathy n that's what bothered me most. Might be the last time I go to this location, even though it's close by, I coulda driven out of my way somewhere else n got my food quicker. Hopefully management takes a look into the stores service. Also I had another customer there said he was there for 45mins n he was a food delivery driver(grub hub, door dash) n said this isn't the first time this location had been slow like this. read more

This place is really awesome! I grew up in Hawaii and Korean food is a staple there and infused in the local diet. If you are looking for authentic Korean food, this is not the place, but nonetheless, the food here is awesome! I did not get the fried chicken, because I wanted Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised that they make their own Kim Chee, and it was really good. Very fresh tasting. We also ordered fried rice, bulgogi, and fried noodles. We ate family style, and OMG! The taste is on point! You simply must try it. The only drawback is it took a while for our food to come out. Not terribly long, but long enough to notice. However, if they are cooking fresh to order, which is the way it tastes, then I will happily wait. Plus the food is so good, it was worth it. Since Bonchon opened up in the shopping plaza literally across the street from my house, Ive been clammoring my roommates to join me on a meal here. It ended up being with a bunch of friends over for the weekend instead, weeeeks later. It was a little late, but our server was incredibly nice and it was still packed to the brim. The interior is friendly and open, even if a little shadowy every time Ive been. Ive eaten Bonchon before, and I know the chicken is great. The skin is among the crispiest Ive ever had, and they arent kidding when they say something is spicy. Bonchon makes great Korean-American food, and so this time around since it was a full-on feast I was looking to try something out of my comfort zone. The first thing we got was the edemame, which was the same as everywhere else. I was interested in their fried calimari, and the dipping sauce with it was wonderful, and a great way to cool your mouth after one of the spicier bites. There were fried dough balls with octopus ordered as well, and though it tasted very smooth and nice, there was barely any actual octopus in there. The dumplings were delicious - though they simply reuse the same they use on the chicken. Its dumplings in Bonchon sauce, whats not to like? The boys also ordered some fries, but they sat mostly untouched because everything else was so good. Thats to be expected I guess. And finally, i ordered my outside-my-comfort-zone option - the tteokbokki. It was listed under 2 flames on the menu and it shows -it was smothered in the fiery gochujang - a red chili paste with a hint of sweetness. The meal was texturally chewy, with wonderful sheets of fish cakes, and a cylinder of rice with the texture of squid and tofu. It tasted good, but it was very strange to my white self, not to mention I kept having to pause because of how spicy it was. There were also noodles underneath all that chewy stuff, and to top it off mozarella, of all things. Cheese and Asian food? Ehhh i dont know, but it matched the chewy texture well enough. Order it or the buldak if youre feeling adventurous, but the fried chicken is still where its at, lets be honest with ourselves. Ill be visiting Bonchon more in the future for sure, and Im glad i got a wide sampling of their menu on this occassion. read more

Had a great meal at Bonchon with the family last night. Some might not be aware that they have a substantial menu of Korean dishes apart from the wonderful fried chicken. We got: Chicken wings with soy/garlic Garlic fries Pot stickers with soy/garlic Pork buns (pork belly) Japchae Bulgogi All were successful dishes. This place is very solid. And the food comes out pretty quickly. I'm not sure who started the rumors about 35-minute waits after you order but we've never seen it. I've been there a few times now. The place had a rough start but it is an amazing place to eat at now. I've tried the chicken, bulgogi sliders, and the fried rice so far. All three are great choices. The chicken wings are crispy and juicy. There's a plentiful amount of sauce on it so it is full of flavor. The sliders are also juicy but they're just not filling enough. There are a few choices of meat with the fried rice but I chose the seafood. It was a great choice and the price was reasonable. The service was the best part. The manager was friendly and attentive to our needs. The servers came to check up on us on a good basis. Our waters were always full even though we finished our glasses every 10 minutes. The chicken came out a little longer than expected but the server was nice enough to let us know ahead of time. The chicken is made by the order so that's why it can take a bit of time. This is definitely a good place to eat in South Riding. I think there is a greater variety of food than other Bon Chon locations. read more

The best thing that I can say is the wait staff were very nice and pleasant, although I waited about 10 minutes after finishing my meal before anyone paid attention to me. I was trying to make eye contact but didn't otherwise draw attention. Both the Takoyaki appetizer and the sesame ginger salmon were substantial but lacking anything to distinguish themselves. We were excited to check this place out given the high reviews. Service was decent, but the food was a big letdown. I know this is a chain, but in the mood for chicken, we decided to give this place a shot. We ordered wings, seasoned fries, bulgogi and potstickers. Now, one would think that we would be asked how the food should be brought out; we weren't and assumed the apps would come out first, followed by the lone main dish with the side of fries. Nope! The fries came out almost immediately: what are we supposed to eat them with; not a standalone item. Then the potstickers came out. Quite a long time after that, the wings and the bulgogi. My coworker does not eat spicy foods, so we went with the soy wings. The wings were cooked perfectly, but lacked any flavor whatsoever. If there was any sauce on them, must have been fried off. The bulgogi had no taste; just cooked flavorless strips of meat; accompanied by white rice. We ate most of the food, since we were not planning to go anywhere else and the menu is very limited in terms of ordering something else. We chalked it up to a one time visit adventure. Then we got the bill and realized, not only did we not enjoy the meal, but the tab for two; including two fountain drinks was almost $100.
