Not a fan of their chaats which is why this place was recommended in the first place. Went for the first time, parking here can be difficult as the lot for this strip mall is not large, but this place is pretty large inside. There's a lot going on inside, they sell prepackaged goods, snacks, and sweets, and then also serve as a restaurant. My friend ordered the dahi puri and I ordered sev puri. You have to understand that Sev Puri is my standard order at every chaat serving restaurant, so I'm well aware of how it should look. Typically it's served on crispy flat, thin puri's. Then there's chickpeas, chutneys, cilantro, sev, and spices. You mix it all, and crunch the puri's with your utensils to make a bite. It's my fave and it doesn't have yogurt which I try to limit. This place- served it to look almost like pani puri- large puri's that are bubbled up as opposed to the thin flat ones, and filled with chickpeas. It a diff eating experience and changes the mix of the variety of ingredients in your mouth. I think the only reason they served this was is for efficiency- this way you can make every chaat's base look the same, whether it be meethi (sweet) puri, dahi puri, pani puri, or in this instance sev puri. I'm about to start getting emotional writing this review because Ive been coming to Bombay Sweets for ages and it really has stayed the best Indian food I have ever had in my entire life like ever since I moved out of Houston it has been a constant struggle trying to find ANYTHING that compares and I only get to have Bombay Sweets once a year or less now. I'm not even kidding you Ive tried sooooo many other places in Houston, NYC, various other cities, and even most recently a trip to INDIA itself and NOTHING came close. I'm dead serious. I have to talk about the two stars of the show that drive my passion for Bombay Sweets: the Saag Paneer and the Garlic Naan. Starting with the Saag, this quite literally tastes like a dish produced on another planet. It is unbelievable and it shocks me every single time I come here and eat it. The flavor is unmatched, it is so deeply layered and you can really taste the spinach alongside the spices and chili, but there is just something extra in here that I cannot explain that pushes this into otherworldly territory. The paneer just completely melts in your mouth and I literally cannot leave the restaurant without ordering 2 days worth of it to-go. There is not a single place that has even come close to the level of flavor provided here and the fact that it has stayed consistent for so long is just really impressive. Now the Naan here is also the best I have ever had, I mean do I need to even say anything just LOOK AT THE PHOTO. WOW. It's huge, the outer edges are thick and fluffy, the inside is thin and crisp, and the toppings here really set this to the next level. I would say that I could come here and just order 4 naans as my meal but there's absolutely no way I'm coming to Bombay Sweets and not ordering the Saag Paneer but yes this Naan is that good. I swear it needs to win some awards or something. The other dishes are good too, this time we also ordered the Paneer Makhani and Baingan Bharta which both were stellar, plus some Pani Puri for the appetizer which was refreshing. Shout out one more time for the Saag Paneer and Garlic Naan because I'm not exaggerating when I say that every other Indian restaurant I go to all I can think about is whether this will be up to par with Bombay Sweets or not. read more

I'm writing to share some feedback as a longtime customer who has been coming to your establishment for nearly 20 years. On my most recent visit, I politely asked about what seemed to be a decline in food quality. Unfortunately, the response I received felt dismissive and rude, which was surprising and disappointing--especially given how long my family and I have been regular customers. I had expected a more courteous and thoughtful reply. I've also noticed that while the restaurant has clearly been updated and refreshed visually, the restrooms remain in very poor condition. For a business that appears to be doing well and receives a lot of traffic, this is puzzling and detracts from the overall experience. I'm sharing this because I've always valued this place and would like to continue supporting it, but these issues--both in customer service and basic upkeep--make that difficult. read more

This review at Bombay Sweet is based on my recent experience when I ordered sweet's takeout. It didn't start well with parking situation. Then, the person helped me gave me wrong item. The employees behind the counter didn't seem to be bothered. Maybe because I don't look like their kind. Very unwelcoming. Comparing this restaurant with Raja Sweets, Bombay Sweets has more desserts and standard priced deli food. All items were labeled clearly. However, employee who helped me kept asking what I wanted. Didn't care much for the food there, the Indian red sweet chilli chutney was full of red food color which was just disgusting.

Always a satisfying lunch, and a very tempting variety of sweets laid out. Mattar paneer with roti this time. I miss the buffet they used to have, but everything is still good. If they have any fresh lemon pickle available that's well worth picking up. Addendum: the mattar paneer is really really good. Among the best I've ever had including in India. read more

I never liked this place because of the quality of the food they used to provide in the past. I returned to this restaurant after 5 years just to give it a chance. We decided to purchase Khoya from this place to make desserts at home. We specifically mentioned that we want khoya without any added sugar. I bought the khoya from them and later realized that its sweet. And it was not just sweet but sweet to a point where you can feel that its khoya in sugar. I've been coming here since I was a wee boy. We'd sometimes come after Sunday School and eat some delicious, vegetarian food. It has a very casual, open layout. You go and order at the counter while you browse the fresh Indian snacks and sweets. The quantity of food they give you is AMAZING! ~$9 for easily 2 meals worth. I used to come here often prior to the pandemic, back in the day I remember paying 50 cents for each samosa and the price was given up front even posted as an individual item. I went back yesterday for a large order of samosas and never actually received a price per item. Price is not announced. Anyways, I was charged roughly 2.5 usd per each samosa and ordered 24 ( total was 60usd). Food is delicious, but I have a bad impression with the price not being announced, and more than double what it was in years past. Inflation may account for some of it, but not double or quadruple the price. Now, I am not so happy about coming here. It is a bit overpriced for vegetarian food in my honest opinion. read more

This is a vegetarian buffet restaurant where I use to come several times a year. However, the quality of food has gone down and today is my first visit in 2019. The price was $7.99 last year and it's at $8.99. They label the food in non English, so you have to ask or just guess. I saw a dish named Locky and asked what it is. First lady said she doesn't know, second lady said squash. Then first lady said potatoes. Hmm, so what is it? Food are oily, like very oily. I had a little bit of a few dishes like spinach paneer and chickpeas. Unsure what the rest are. They also have these two bright yellow dessert which are super sweet. I'm not a fan! They also had a sweets section in their store which was filled with amazing choices which tasted out of this world! I have been coming to this establishment for right around a decade, and they have never once disappointed me. Bombay Sweets creates a family-friendly environment and always serves food relatively quickly. Today, I came in for a Samosa Chaat. To my surprise I noticed my food wasn't here after 7-8 minutes which is generally not the case. After I went up to the front, a man wearing a turban was very upset with himself when he realized that they had completely forgotten my order. Thereafter, he prepared my food within 2 minutes and even added extra ingredients to compensate. This was clearly an honest mistake, and something that I wouldn't hold against them. Best place for Indian sweets and Chats in the whole of Houston. Go to place in Hilcroft for sweets & Chats. Used to love their buffet before covid. Unfortunately, they closed their daily buffet. The only minus point is for not providing enough golgappa pani for the golgappe/pani puri plate. The pani is insufficient if you want to fill all the puri's to their capacity. Have to always order extra pani paying $3. Would be great if they increase the quantity of the pani puri water. read more

TRY THEIR CHAAT! Came across this place when I was on my Indian grocery shopping run! Reminded me of the Bombay sweets back home in Tamil Nadu and I had to go in. The food just caught my eyes and I could not decide on what to order. Everything looked good and the prices were just right! I got some fresh jalebis to start with and they definitely did not disappoint. I know a good jalebi when I see one and they had good ones but they were a bit toooo sweet for me. I decided on their paneer paratha, dahi poori, paneer dosa and pani Puri! I highly recommend their chaat to get the feel of Indian street food. The paneer paratha was a bit dry and had very less filling. The paneer dosa was also good but nothing extraordinary. I would definitely visit this place again. I've also been here early morning like 10ish to get tea and paneer pakora for a bunch of friends traveling to houston from different states. This specific post also reviews the Aloo Kulcha I had for breakfast. They serve it will chana, curd, pickled onions and other pickles. It's super filling and I wasn't able to finish the whole thing.
