First time at Bold Berkeley! The class was challenging, but in a good way! Good burn that lasted through the 50 minute class session. My instructor Courtney was helpful and corrected my form as we went along. However, I find that the studio is quite small compared to others. There is not much walkway to get to the cubbies to put down your personal stuff. I had to either walk in between the reformers or shuffle next to the wall. Majority of folks placed their items along the window wall though! The area under my reformer was also dirty with dust and hair, but maybe it was just mine. Lastly, there is metered street parking where Bold is and 2-hour residential parking a block or two away from the studio, as mentioned in the FAQs page! I was worried it would be busy in Berkeley but luckily I found parking and walked over in 2-3 mins. After my workout, there are plenty of cafes and shops along the street, so I grabbed myself a post-workout meal! Bold is in a convenient location which I quite like :)

I took a Black Girl Mega class with Morgan and this was an excellent studio and instructor. The space is clean and well maintained which is very important to me. There are lockers for storing your personal items which is a plus. The megaformers are close together but not unreasonably so. As for the workout, it was very challenging. The There was a lot of muscle shaking in a good way! Morgan assured us this was normal. Finding parking wasn't too bad but be advised it's mainly street parking. I'd imagine ease of parking would depend on the day and time due to its location. Bold is a good option in Berkeley for a great way to have a fun but challenging workout. I enjoyed the introduction to the Lagree method and I'll absolutely be back.

The best ClassPass find! If you want to join the pilates hype, this is the place to be! I love the location of this place, it's great to take a morning class and walk around rockridge after. This place will have you shaking and I love the music they play to get you through your workout.

Max, the owner, was quick to respond to my online inquiry and was able to set me up with two trainers- Mikkie and John. He took time to chat with me about my goals. Shout out to Max for his excellent communication and thought processes for connecting you with particular trainers. John - within seconds, I immediately felt comfortable with John. He always lays out the groundwork for you so you know what to expect. His warmups always get me motivated for what's to come. I love that he is so encouraging and always keeps me on my counts during reps. John is extremely personable, and I truly enjoy our conversations. Mikkie- she has refined my squat game like no other and has pushed me to lift more than I ever expected to. She pushes me in the best way and always gives me opportunities to excel. I truly enjoy her style of training. As a mother of two young children, working out at Powerform has been transformative, to say the least. This has been my time out of the day for myself both mentally and physically. After many years of aimless workouts, I finally feel like I know how to spend my time to get the results I want. I feel stronger than ever, and that is thanks to the wonderful staff at Powerform. Highly recommend!

The facilities are always clean and there are plenty of machines and weights for all (leg workout devices are a little sparse). Maybe not state of the art and new, but it's excellent value. But omg I am too old for the misleading and covert sales attempts First of all, if having you hold a little machine with metal handles was a legit way to measure your physical fitness or cardio strength or lean muscle vs fat, I think on many decades of doctor visits I would have encountered it! This felt like 100 percent an attempt to leverage people's trust in technology and fear of the wellness industries standards too make me buy more services from this gym. Did I mention I'm too old to have a young man and his machine tell me about my body and health goals? They told me when I joined i would get a free personal training session that would tell me how to use machines ( i expressed repeatedly that i don't need help with goal setting, good on that, thanks!) Instead the supposed personal training session was an elaborate sales pitch. Did I mention I'm too old? The trainer had me do some exercises and I guess evaluated something but to get any details on how to use the machines, which I stated many many times was my only reason for the session , I was invited to give up more of my money and time. Luckily, I'm old, so all I wasted was about 3o minutes instead of also spending extra money or having random people with pseudo scientific machines and full in the blank worksheets make me doubt myself and my body. I'll keep coming bc working out feels good and makes me feel healthy but I'm aware I'm walking into an attempted scam every time I enter.

I have been dancing since I could walk and have studied many forms of dance, martial arts and fitness. Kendra was one of my first teachers in the East Bay, and I continue to seek out her expertise to this day. Kendra has an amazing knowledge of anatomy, which lends to her keen eye for alignment and attention to detail. She is able to tailor her approach to your individual needs because of her studies in anatomy, kinesiology and dance. I believe her ability to discover exactly what is going awry in one's movement and figuring out how to 'fix' it is due to her solid base in science and years of personal movement application to herself and to her students. She is personable and easy to connect with which makes the time fly by when you are working with her-leaving you wondering how you were able to get so much knowledge while having fun, and perhaps sore the following day. I have taken thousands of dance classes in my life, I have trained with many personal trainers, I am also well versed in anatomy and the ways of movement, and yet, I find Kendra has a specific skill for helping others reach their goals that is rarely matched by others.
