This place is just the best. I've been in the group fitness classes for a month now and it's been so much fun. The people in the class have been going for YEARS and they are all so fun and energetic. Lisa (who runs the classes) is such a chill yet motivating coach. She's funny with jokes, plays good music and helps with your form too. The classes realllly get a tough workout in in the best way possible. Response times were a little lag at first, but the IG DM never fails and I got a response right away, email took just a few extra days! If I wasn't moving away, I would keep going here for years - and I am absolutely looking for a similar workout in my next city - can't say better things about this place! read more

I have never been a fan of a big gym or going to the gym at all, but this gym is really awesome. Not only do they have plans for classes, but they offer meal plans and can assist with making clean-eating a lifestyle! They offer everything you need to switch up your fitness routine to make it fresh and new to your body. From TRX and kettlebells to spin and boxing. No matter your preference, you will see results. The trainers are the best! They want to see you be your best at all times. The accountability they give me is what I need! If it were up to me to make up a gym schedule and workout, I would never do it. The simple text checking to see how my body feels after a workout or to see if I'd be interested in taking a new class, is what I need to stay on top of this fitness journey. I've always "liked" weight training more than cardio. However, Lisa has made me a fan of spin over the past year! I started working out with Lisa in October of last year. My mom and I were looking for a personal trainer who would work with both of us at the same time but tailor the workouts to our individual skill levels. We found Lisa and I'm so glad we did! Rae is - by far - the best boxing coach in the bay. I was a classpass member for a long time and have tried so many places to find good instructors. Rae keeps the workouts fun, challenging, small and well rounded. Prior to taking any of these classes, I was always trying to find the next best thing to get stronger but never had any luck. Boxing with Rae changed that for me and now I am hooked. If you are interested in boxing, or just getting in better shape, look no further. This review is for spin classes! I tried spin class with Lisa previously when she had a space in jack London. Her classes are so much fun that I had to follow her to their new space in Piedmont. I have been to her Saturday and Thursday spin classes. They are such a blast. You will walk out sweaty and full of endorphins from an amazing workout. With spin class it's truly all about the teacher and Lisa is one of the best. She incorporates stretching, push-ups , crunches and planking to help switch up the class routine. I've tried other spin classes before at 24 hour but they never motivated me like they do here! The music is up beat and fun, she incorporates the latest tracks. read more

I've been working out with Lisa for many years now, since she was in JLS. She is an incredible trainer and motivator. Her circuits are creative and she always has new approaches. I primarily do her bootcamp and spin classes. She's an incredibly positive woman who carefully tracks her client's progress and knows when to push you further. I was involved in a car accident 4 years ago which resulted in myslef having a spinal cord injury. Prior to meeting and working with Lisa I was able to walk but I would tire out easily. I was having a hard time working out and I was gaining weight and my therapist told me for me to walk better that I need to lose weight and gain muscle and my stamina will increase. I called many places to see if they had any adaptive cross fit trainers that could help me get stronger and I was denied and told no by everyone. When I called Lisa at fit evolution she was more than eager to help she sat down with me and we created a plan to help me walk better and fully get rid of the wheelchair that I'm currently in. Being in a wheelchair and working out with others it's an uneasy feeling because people think that you are unaproachable. Lisa and the staff at Fit Evolution made me feel compfortable since day one which I consider Lisa, the staff, and the others working out my extended buff family.. also the facility is in a great location with restaurants all around to get an after workout meal. check this place out you won't regret it. What an amazing fitness haven! The trainers at this gym are just truly wonderful humans. Going through the process of changing habits, lifestyles, and getting fit can be overwhelming and intimidating. I have gone on a rollercoaster of different methods, gyms, classes, etc. and choosing Fit Evolution is by far the best route I've gone. There is absolutely no judgment in this gym, from the trainers or the clients. I don't know about you, but I'm not a fan of large membership gyms. They're too crowded! I prefer private gyms - Fit Evolution, specifically. The environment is safe and it just feels like I'm a part of a family/community. They offer a variety of classes throughout the week (I.e. Spin, Kettle bells, Butts n Guts, Fit Camp etc.), as well as small group training sessions. When I found out I was pregnant last year, I promised myself that I would still stay active. I immediately reached out to Lisa Baugh and she did a phenomenal job customizing my workouts for my changing body. She designed my sessions to gently challenge me and prepare me for what would be the hardest, most strenuous thing I have ever done - child birth. In hindsight, my pregnancy, labor and delivery went fairly smoothly and I firmly believe it was due in large part to making fitness my priority. Fast forward to 4 months postpartum, I am now back in the gym working on the bounce-back. With Lisa's guidance, support and encouragement, I know I'll get there in no time. If you're looking for a home gym where the trainers are supportive, knowledgeable and committed to seeing their clients reach their health and fitness goals, look no further. I've been to this gym on and off for about 3 years now. After having a child becoming slim again is really hard. I've had such an amazing push from all of the trainers here. I am completely comfortable letting my fat hanging out and not feeling insecure. They have amazing meal plan you can choose to go with which helps a lot if you are a busy parent. All the exercise that they make you do are different each time so it doesn't feel like a set up routine. So I really loved my experience here even though it was only three classes! I've been dealing with chronic health issues that have kept me out of the gym, but when I did venture in, Lisa was so kind and helpful in making me feel comfortable in a gym setting. The classes in the AM are small with folks of all different levels of experience. Even though Lisa was busy helping everyone do things at their own level, she was always really attentive and there to help you. Everyone was so encouraging and I felt like I was pushed to do more but always within what I could handle. There was such a great variety in the different types of exercises and equipment available that I had no worries about being bored or not finding something I would like. PREGNANT LADIES! After I got pregnant I was freaked out about being fat AF and at 5 1/2 months couldn't run anymore. It took some searching around to find a trainer that knew the limitations of keeping me & baby safe but would still kick my ass. Most trainers were either too worried & soft or just didn't know enough about the pregnant body. Lisa Baugh at Fit Evolution was it - I couldn't recommend her more highly. She was supportive but not too soft and helped me in my 3rd trimester until I was about 36 weeks. I look forward to returning a few weeks after I deliver this baby. Working out in pregnancy doesn't have as great of a visual impact because the muscles just don't recover like usual; the baby sucks us dry. But I know when I return to the gym I will get it back that much quicker because of my prenatal exercising. And when I felt lazy I reminded myself that studies report that exercise helps fetal brain development (who would want a dumb baby?). Lastly, I loved the Fit Evolution environment. It really felt like a slice of the Oakland community that I know and adore - diverse, positive and supportive. read more

A superb gym! I'm amazed by how comfortable I feel here. Everyone is close-knit and supportive of each other, and really want you to get the best workout that you possibly can. I used to go to this gym, for about a year and a half. Recently stopped for a few reasons. The ONLY reason I started going to this gym was for the boxing program which Rae was the coach/trainer. I had gone to other spots but they, Rae is the best coach I've had thus far. Sadly, the gym owner cut classes and kept taking my money without any notice. After being made aware that in February Monday's were cut now after 4/26 Thursday's, leaving 1! Class a week?! I asked for my membership to be cancelled May 1 cause $99 a month is a joke. The owner said yes, "I definitely will" on 4/28 which didn't happen!!!!! Still no notice. It's disturbing and sad to me for several reasons and the biggest being I stated why I didn't want to be a member any longer and then was easily dismissed with "sorry for your experience." The gyms cleanliness was extremely lacking (bathroom missing toilet paper, towels, blood on a seat... floors in the gym). I had a bag fall off the rack onto me due to equipment not being maintained after I was around for the conversation of supposed upgrade/improvements. Plus I was going to a 6:30 class which was always late. Stopped cause my time is valuable too. I would like my money back for my experienceS. read more

This gym has amazing trainers and small group sessions that are super inventive and challenging. Lisa and Darrell will figure out what drives you and create a space for it...The classes (which I usually avoid at other gyms) are different from the norm, I mean, I got hooked on spin. Yes, spin. Who wouldn't, with Jonathan picking just the right mix to keep you going and interested. I find myself almost dancing on the bike and just when I think I can't take any more, I'm exhausted, a really amazing and unexpected song will come on and give me more energy. There's also yoga that'll whup you and active recovery (stretching) that will make you sweat (weird, right?) and work parts you didn't know you had. read more

About a year ago, I decided I was ready to up my fitness level. Fortunately I had met Lisa Baugh and Darrell Jones while they were moving into the current location of Fit Evolution. Working with Lisa has been absolutely life-changing. I started out seeing her twice a week, but recently increased that to three times a week. Lisa keeps my workouts new, very challenging, and always fun. I love her creativity. She works you really hard, but you feel great afterward. Lisa is strong and assertive without being pushy, as well as extremely motivating. She is so devoted to getting the best out of me and all her clients. And I've been amazed at the results! I look better, my muscles are more defined, I'm stronger and fitter, but most importantly, I have incredible confidence. I know that once I get through my workouts with Lisa, I've done the hardest thing I'm going to face all day. Finding Fit Evolution has been just great. I was referred to personal trainer Isaac (Zeek) who could probably give you results but is very inconsistent and has lots of excuses. He doesn't show up as scheduled nor answer your phone calls. He's a bit of a con so if you come across him ask for another trainer. He'll reel you in by talking about being a GOD fearing man yet takes advantage of people. This is a long post because I really love this place so bear with me. It's worth the read. Love this gym! Everyone is incredibly welcoming (even though it looks intimidating!). The trainers and staff here are so gracious and they care so much about your personal health and well being and the people who come here for training and classes...they're like the best people ever! Everyone is so supportive of each other! I work with Tiffany TrainEm as my personal trainer and this girl has changed my life. I'm so much more confident with weights now and when I go to the gym on my own, I'm not nervous about using free weights or bars because I know what I'm doing. From day 1 with Tiffany, I was skeptical about seeing results because I just didn't know how it could be possible but she kept encouraging me and would give me very specific work outs that would help my body develop and here I am 3 months later able to take on more weights, squats, lunges, sit ups, everything you can think of. I've lost inches on my thighs (like what?! I didn't even know that was possible), arms, and my back is sculpting out beautifully. More importantly, I finally am on the way of getting the butt I've always wanted. :) If you're looking for a trainer who will work with you, both on a physical, emotional, and mental level, Tiffany is it. She's so relatable and makes work out fun even when they're not. I dreaded coming to my training sessions with her the first month because they were so hard but she puts so much faith in you. She'll text you a reminder day of training to pump you up, then when you show up, she has this crazy amount of energy to get you excited BUT she always always checks in on how you're feeling to gauge where you are emotionally and mentally. After a kick ass work out, she'll cool down with you and just get to know you as a person. Honestly, can't say enough great things about her! Classes: I've taken a few classes here and they have all been super fun and a great work out. The cycling class with Lisa is amazing so if you're hesitant about trying it, do it. It's worth it! I've also attended the Butts and Guts classes with Tiffany (and still do). If you're a beginner like me, Friday classes are more doable but if you're advanced or just looking for a challenge, her Saturday class will give you that OOMPH and extra burn. Her routines are slightly different for both classes but it really doesn't matter which class you choose to attend because Tiffany will tailor workouts to you. TLDR: I would highly recommend Fit Evolution for personal training and classes! This isn't your typical "let's have fun working out even if you're not really getting that intense work out you paid for;" it's more of a "you will have fun because it's just fun here, but you're also going to leave this place sweating and wanting more because you're walking away feeling like a warrior." read more

I absolutely love my experience thus far with my trainer, Darrell. He is attentive, supportive and great at listening and understanding what I want to achieve. Its been a long time since I've worked out like this and although I have my struggles, Darrell and his team make it easy to keep coming back. He pushes me and encourages me to better. I feel stronger each week. My boxing coach, Rey, is hella cool and awesome. I didn't know what I was in for when I took her class but its one of the best workouts every. Between the two of them and me being consistent (work in progress), I know that I will eventually achieve my goals. The gym is clean and offers everything anyone needs to get fit. This gym is awesome! At first I was a bit apprehensive about taking a fitness class because I knew I was gonna be with a group which adds a bit of extra pressure. I haven't worked out for years and I felt super out of shape and I was worried I was not going to be able to keep up. But I am happy to report that I had a great time and felt more energized after taking the boxing class. I love the small atmosphere and direct attention I got! Lisa was super patient and understanding- she gave me room to breathe while still pushing me to do my very best. She never made me feel uncomfortable about being out of shape. I went to Fit Evolution for the first time last night and LOVED it! Great interior feel, interesting architecture, open space, super clean and well maintained, everyone is very friendly there, lots of people getting themselves in shape, and the trainers REALLY care about how you're doing. The trainer who led the class I was in, Nick, is really knowledgeable about fitness, gave very clear instructions about exercise so we got the most out of the moves and also stayed injury free, and he clearly cares that everyone is getting the most out of the time and the exercise we did. Fit Evolution has lots of great classes, and I think I'm going to try the boxing classes to add to my spin and stretching workouts.
