    Two pieces from Bojangles
    Bruce K.

I made it this far and parked only to find that the dining room remains closed. Covid or staffing issues, I suppose. Back into the car, I placed my order at the drive through and picked it up from a polite lady. I'm not eating fried chicken in my car, so it took me a bit to find an appropriate stop with some fresh air. When I unwrapped it, the order was correct with two properly cooked pieces of chicken, double cole slaw and a biscuit that I tore up and tossed for the birds. Hooray for keto diet. Overall, a pleasant and inexpensive meal. [Review 15534 overall, 1038 of 2021, number 1343 in Virginia.]

Awesome staff, they made the food fresh without is asking and I could tell the food on display has been out for a while. If you visit, the potato rounds and sweet tea are a MUST!

Never have I ever - until a trip down south where chicken joints are about as common as the white strips on a highway. I had heard about these, eaten at Raisin Canes, Zaxbys, etc - so we decided to stop. It was a good welcome to the south in terms of food - though the place was very underwhelming when it came to cleanliness. The woman who helped us was very friendly but again the place seemed very worn down and aged inside. Like it had been open for 15years as a __________ then quickly turned into a Bojangles. Anyone follow me? We ordered a couple of meals and drinks - both 3pc meals which came with a side. I went with fries and tried the Mac and cheese as well, and we also ordered some of the berry biscuits as I was informed it was the best part. The chicken was good, the signature sauce was very good to me- and the Mac and cheese was mediocre. The biscuits weren't as hot as we would have liked by the time we got to them but they were still good. Overall I thought the place was good and OK.

No Cajun spicy. Mac and cheese. Dark meat. Cole slaw. Fries. Dirty rice. Grilled chicken bites. All good. Seriously, you can't go wrong with Bojangles as your fast-food road food choice. I just wish they have Cajun spicy. They only have the Cajun mild at this location. ::sigh::

Freezing cold inside this not very clean air conditioned restaurant. Service was slow--guess they were busy with big orders with it being Fathers Day. There weren't many people at the restaurant. Felt bad for the man waiting 20 minutes for a box of chicken. Our food was good--supremes, biscuits, grilled chicken salad. And as always the iced tea is legendary.

DISGUSTING!!!!! the lady took my money then touch my fries with her bare hands and made all the food with her bare hands when I asked her to put gloves on she threw the food in the trash aggressively and got an attitude. AVIOD this cesspool at all costs.

    Biscuit and gravy

I asked for extra seasoning on my fries when I ordered in the drive through. I had to go back inside and ask for them to be correct and they put the fries in the container and shook two shakes of seasoning on top. Which, first of all is nothing and second of all only gets the top 3 fries sticking out. Not only that but they didn't even make the biscuits and gravy correctly. They broke it apart incorrectly.

Raw Chicken. Contacted customer service as we were drive on 81. No response! Need I say more!! 9/3/2018 visit at around 2pm.

Raw chicken alert!!!! Driving down 81 and stopped for a a meal to go. Contacted customer service and no response. This occurred on 9/3/2018 at around 2pm. I would guess if my thigh was raw and cold the whole batch was raw. I unfortunately ate a leg before the I got to the thigh. Currently dealing with GI issues and headaches as a result. The interior has lots of hints to music (art and decor) which I like but I'm not sure how it ties into the Downtown Grub name. The cashier gave us time to review the menu (on the wall). We ordered cheesesteak eggrolls and a two hot dog plate with fries. We wanted to get different toppings on the dogs but that was going to be difficult with their new POS system. We offered to just get the same thing but we were told that they'd get it and she wrote down our topping choices. After paying we were told it would be 20-30 minutes. That was longer than we were hoping dinner would take but I know kitchens can be tough. Our food comes out and the server says "I don't think those hot dog toppings are right." And, lo and behold, she was right. I'm not sure I've ever seen a server bring food to the table knowing that it's not what was ordered. She offered to fix it but after 20 min, we were just ready to eat. The hot dogs themselves were ok. Chili had good flavor. The first bite of the fries was great. They were really well seasoned...was what we thought. But they quickly became super salty. The cheesesteak eggrolls seemed to be just chopped steak eggrolls. They were massive but I didn't taste any cheese in the mix. I also wish they were crispy. For us, after a long wait, the meal just let us down.

Blessedly, that is more than off-set by.......the quality and taste!! It seemed that everyone was up on the buffet angle, and it definitely seems the way to go. I was caught off guard when my friend walked up the stairs to the house because from initial appearance, I wouldn't have thought this was the restaurant! Upon walking in, the host greeted us and told us his name was Dan and that he was the owner of the restaurant! It was really cool to see that the owner is truly passionate about his restaurant and will show up to put in the work, even during the later hours. In terms of the food, I went with the Hungry Hokie which was a mashed potato bowl with with bits of meatloaf and chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese. It also came with a biscuit or cornbread, I opted in with the cornbread. The food was absolutely hearty and had pretty good flavor! The one wish that I had was that it came in a bigger portion as it didn't fully fill me up. If I was in town again, I'd definitely consider going back to try the other items on the menu!

Going back to this restaurant after the great honor that I had received from Yelp, made me recall the first time that I dined here. I invite you that after reading this review, you go back and read that one, and view my photographs accompanying it, because it's one of which I am most proud of, and an experience that I will never forget and forever cherish. I arrived at the restaurant on time at five o'clock sharp and as I waited for them to open I had an opportunity to meet and chat with a couple who had been loyal customers of this restaurant for years since it first opened. They, as well as I, were aware of the beautiful location of the restaurant on one of the most exclusive neighborhoods of Roanoke. As soon as the doors opened, I allowed them to enter first and then when the host came back she gave me a warm and friendly greeting, welcoming me back, and took me to an ideal table, where I had a perfect view of the entire restaurant, from their open kitchen, to their bar, to the entire dining room and entrance, allowing me to capture in photographs the real feel of the ambiance of this cozy, yet elegant, upscale Southern, New-American restaurant known for its scratch-made dishes using locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients, including house-cured meats and pickled vegetables, as well as very creative cocktails. Shortly after I was seated, my delightful server Caroline arrived, and after a warm greeting took my order. To drink I order their Strawberry Fields Forever Mocktail. As appetizer I ordered a half dozen Oysters together with their famous Oyster Wraps. And as my main entrée, the Painted Hills Filet, cooked medium-rare. All the staff seemed so happy to see me and the manager came by to say hello and congratulate me for my outstanding Yelp accomplishment of 2025. My excellent server made sure that my order was well-paced, came by at the appropriate times to fill my glass with water and see if all was to my liking. Everything tasted amazingly delicious. Starting from the unique taste of my creative mocktail, to my flavorful appetizer, to my exquisite Filet main entrée that was so tender and cooked just right. The chefs in this fine dining restaurant are amazing and the quality of their meats is top notch. For dessert I had one of my favorite desserts, since I first had it there, their Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta. This dessert is absolutely mouthwatering. What an extraordinary dining experience I once again had there. Fine dining at its best. For those very special occasions, I highly recommend this restaurant. Or you can always make any day special, by dining there.

The atmosphere/design is very unique and offers great talking points for the table. You can look around and always find something new you haven't seen before. For food, I got the French dip, my husband got the fried catfish, and mom got the smash burger. Food was EXCELLENT. The au jus from the French dip was not overly salty as I've had in the past, and it was the perfect amount for the sandwich. Not like other places that will either give you a big tub of au jus or ever a small saucer cup. After lunch, we walked around as they have a shopping area inside with soaps, handmade pottery/kitchenware, and local vendor products such as hatch chile cream cheese and pickled vegetables. Price was very favorable too and didn't seem to be overly priced where the business/vendor up charges significantly to make a huge profit. Definitely worth stopping by even if you only have time for Togo coffee, a snack, of just to shop around!
