GREAT find, just a few miles off of I-81, but darn worth the short hop over along the way. Mom and Pop (and Grandma) business with home raised bison. Nice menu in-house, also order / take-out with good take home bulk stock both in the refrigerator and the freezer. read more

Buffalo & More - Meat Shops Near Me - Riner, Virginia

I drive 2 hours to go to this restaurant in the small town of Riner. It's close to Christiansburg and VA Tech. Each day there are home cooked sides along with a selection of buffalo entrees. I love the burgers! Today I got the low carb double buffalo burger with fresh mushrooms and home cooked fries!! Save room for dessert because these homemade pies and cakes. Today we had the mandarin pie. Oh my!!!!! It's creamy and light and delicious. Reminds me of my grandma's pie. The service is one of a kind. The sweetest people you will ever meet and they feel like family. we had another great visit. read more

Food excellent, interesting. Comfortable surroundings, good service. Definitely home cooking, not mass-produced. Going back!

Amazing place near VT. They do an amazing job with Buffalo (of course) and they have other items as well. The desert was so good that I ended up leaving something behind after experiencing how good it was. They were expecting me when I returned and were able to return it to me. Very friendly staff and I will be back next time that I am in town. read more

Yelp led me and my husband to this little gem when on our way home from a trip to see my parents in NC. It's a little over 4 miles off 81 and well worth the short detour. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak from the regular menu and the black & blue burger from the specials menu. We also split a side of the "buffalo ear" fries with cilantro lime dipping sauce, which was delicious and the slightly zippy. It was all incredible! We're not normally huge dessert eaters, but after reading the rave reviews, we decided to grab a slice of coconut custard pie to go. The portion was generous, and the pie was perfect for us. The sweetness was subtle. My husband said that while he wouldn't typically have gone for a coconut custard, this "was a delight!" All of this and extremely sweet and friendly people running the restaurant to boot! We will absolutely be back. read more

There food had no taste. Everything me and my husband ordered toasted plain. For the money I don't recommend it at all

Finally got around to eating here after years of hearing about it. This place is awesome! Calm, homey atmosphere, friendly staff, cold canned drinks and tea. Brisket was a touch dry, but flavorful, according to the person with me. I got the double bison burger and seasoned fries and it was not only giant, but unbelievably juicy and flavorful. You can really taste the meat. The fries are hand cut and seasoned well and fried perfectly. I have a big appetite, but I could barely finish my food! Will absolutely be back to try the homemade desserts. read more

I was told I HAD to try the buffalo burger, so that's what I did. It was not bad, but quite honestly I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this buffalo burger and a regular burger. I also tried the coconut custard pie, it looks like all their desserts are homemade which is great, but the pie I had did just taste a little old. It was a casual joint, clearly loved by the locals & the staff here was very friendly. read more

I had the small bowl of bison chili ($3.29) which was quite good. If you want a piece of cornbread it is an extra 99 cents, but is very good. Be aware that the chili is fairly spicy hot and the small serving is in a small dish -- the size that the side orders are served in. You can also order chopped onions, jalapeños, shredded cheese and sour cream to go along with your chili. I am not sure if there is a charge for those or not. Many of the bison menu items sounded like they may be good. The owner raises the bison, and the meat served comes from her herd. I don't know if you can buy the bison meat there and take it home to cook for yourself or not. I got a large serving of the chili to go and they were very thoughtful and added a small package of ice to keep it chilled for the 3 1/2 hour drive home. I look forward to stopping by there and trying more things the next time I am down that way. They are near Christiansburg, VA, only about 4-5 miles off I-81, exit 114, State Route 8, south to Riner. read more

Always Good and always tasty! Try some American legacy meat and be surprised. Nice mellow taste and little sweeter than beef. Burgers great and even the burrito! read more

When we visited it was dine out only, and all dishes were disposable. Options were the smallish porch with a mishmash of furniture or nosh in your car. Definitely no ambience. The porch looks out over a gas station parking lot and busy Riner Road. We could overlook that as we were excited to try the buffalo based on the previous rave reviews. We had the Low Carb Platter with ¼ lb buffalo burger topped with cheese, onions and mushrooms. The toppings tasted great but the buffalo burger was thin, bland and had very little meaty flavor. Well, boo - this was supposed to be the highlight! The side of fries and salad were typical. For us, not worth a repeat visit. read more

I love this place and their new location across the street is so bright and cheery and includes a mercantile area! The food is delicious. The homemade desserts are awesome. Yelp, can you please stop linking to their old website though? It's out of date but can't seem to be deleted. Check their facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/buffaloandmore) for up to date info that includes the 4040 Riner Road address and current menu. read more

Stopped to try this place out. Good was good but not really special, especially considering the prices. I got the Buffalo Burger and Onion Rings. Great service. read more

First, it's a hole-in-the-wall joint. I don't mean this in a bad way at all. Maybe "down home" would be a better term. The food was really great. I had the buffalo burger with mac and cheese. The burger was great (I'm getting a double burger next time). The desert menu was huge and all homemade. And delicious. Others in our group were really satisfied. We drove some distance to get here, so it was worth the drive. read more

Yelp and their website says they are open Tuesday and Wednesday but they are not. We drove 1/2 hour to get here and they were closed.

Great Buffalo burgers with side of Buffalo ears. The best. Friendly service. Stop and try it. You'll love it.

So lucky that this is right here in Riner. The food is fantastic and the service is great. Highly recommend the chili, the bison burgers, and the fries-- and we've never ordered anything that wasn't delicious. Make sure to save room for dessert because it is phenomenal. Because they also run the farm, they aren't always ready to open exactly on time for lunch but hang around on the porch and visit a few minutes-- they'll open up soon and the food is well worth the wait!! read more

I discovered the Riner gem during my student teaching at Auburn Elementary down the road. My cohort and I would grab a bite on our way back to Radtown. This buffalo spot is so great, I honestly don't know how to write a review to do the food justice. I believe the fresh buffalo meat, most everything is made with, comes from a local bison farm. Everything from the burger to the Mac and Cheese is so on point. Locals frequent this establishment, confirming it's legitimacy in the community. Best buffalo for the buck as well! read more

Buffalo & More - Cheeseburger. Collared Greens. Mac and Cheese. - Meat Shops Near Me - Riner, Virginia

We were visiting from San Francisco Bay Area and were on our way to pick up our dog (who had needed emergency care from the VA Tech Vet School - awesome place BTW). We saw the signs for this Buffalo place and debated about grabbing a sandwich. As we pulled up, it didn't make much of an impression - looks pretty nondescript. But then we went in: Super service - very friendly people with great stories about the place. The owner raises the buffalo herself. I ordered the steak sandwich - I love steak sandwiches so I am pretty picky about them. This was hands-down the BEST steak sandwich I have ever eaten. My husband got the burger and loved it - but he admitted he would absolutely order my steak sandwich next time. I am hoping we will get back to southwest VA soon - I will SO be back!! Kudos on fab food and fab service!! read more

Love love love this place. The burgers are amazing and I love getting the ground bison to take home.

Service is friendly and the burgers are good. They have more than bison, but why? Bison is low-fat and tastes great in a burger. The meat is all locally raised, which I like. You can also buy some meat for your freezer, but it's not cheap. The service was very friendly. read more

If you like country cooking', Buffalo and More is the place to be. Also, Buffalo and More has the best cornbread I've ever tasted(Sorry Grandma). Don't let the look of the establishment fool you. This is one of the best surprises in the New River Valley. Once you get inside, you understand how much passion the owner has for her local raised bison, and it shows through her cooking. There are also homemade baked goods, cheeses, and local raised cuts of bison for purchase. read more

A real country gem. The drive to buffalo & more is scenic & delightful. The food even more so. The pork BBQ was absolutely divine. My favorite thing however is that they use exclusively humanely treated local meat to make their delicious home style meals. They have their own herds of buffalo. It is a modest restaurant with humble decor but the staff & owner clearly have passion for their food as well as incredible talent. The food more than makes up for the antiquated decor. I would recommend this southern home cooking to absolutely anyone who loves to eat good food. read more

This is a hole in the wall to say the least. Don't go expecting any type of ambiance! But do go so see a very unique menu that predominantly features locally raised buffalo and bison (although I did see some boxes that may indicate that they need to supplement their supply of local buffalo from time to time). I believe the owners of the restaurant also own the buffalo ranch that is 15 miles away. The restaurant is very small and seems to do a fair amount of to go business as well as sales of meat - we came home with 2 lbs of ground buffalo, a pound of Italian buffalo sausage and a buffalo roast! Note the pricing on the beef is not inexpensive - think grass fed prices at whole foods. This is not a Sysco restaurant that opens a box or bottle and serves, it is obvious they they make their sides and dressing in house not to mention the fantastic selection of homemade desserts. They also use quality ingredients - there are freezers and coolers tucked away all over the restaurant and I could see the good quality provolone and roasted garlic in one of the refrigerators. I had the low carb platter -a buffalo burger topped with provolone and sautéed mushrooms and onions and a salad with real baby lettuce (not the iceberg junk) carrots and cucumbers. I had the house made banana dressing - I asked if it was sweet and the waitress said it was a spicy vinegarette - I'm guessing it was suppose to be banana pepper?... Anyhow, it wasn't spicy or sweet and really didn't not have much flavor but I still give them credit for making their own dressings! I would totally order this again. My husband had the mushroom burger and son had a burrito that were both good. My husbands Cowboy beans were especially good. Worth a side trip for the unique menu! read more

This is a gem you must visit if you're in the Christiansburg area. My husband and I were out-of-towners in search of a local place for dinner. I love bison meat...and this place was simple, yet satisfying! The burgers are small, but packed with flavor. The desserts were a big plus...homemade and delicious! I had the peanut butter and chocolate chip pie. Mmmmm! The staff was great and very accommodating to these out-of-towners. read more

This place is awsome! Great food and friendly staff, I had the Buffalo Steak sub and wow!, it was great! My wife had the bratworst and she loved it. All in all I would say you have to check this place out! Will be back soon! read more

Throughly enjoyed our low carb meal of mushroom burgers. They had the best fried pickles I have ever had! Service was good and fast.

Visiting Virginia this Southern California girl was feeling adventurous for something a little different than what I find back home. I was a little hesitant walking into roadside location as it has a bit of a rustic feel... The minute we walked in southern hospitality was prevalent and impressive, greeted first on the porch by one of the ladies working there and inside by the lovely owner herself, classic southern charm and warmth... Looking over them menu I ordered the bison burger and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad reminded me of my mother-in-law's recipe (she was a Virginia native) and it was good, but I sampled my son's macaroni and cheese and it was even better (also reminding me of my mother-in-law's classic southern cooking...) but honestly I could've had any side dish and it would've paled in comparison to the main event... That bison burger was the best burger I've ever eaten in my life... I would abandon California's In and Out forever for this bison burger... My mouth has never been so happy!! The only negative thing I can say is that I only ordered one... I was already grieving the end of my most amazing burger so I decided to try to find comfort in dessert... And just when I thought my palate could never be impressed again I had the best piece of peach cobbler ever... Warm and a la mode, thank you very much... The phrase "just like mom makes" is perfect as all the desserts are made by the owner's mother... And her hands must be blessed by God. I'm really sad we found this little gem on our last day in Virginia because if I'd known I'd have eaten here every day. If you're ever in the area, do not miss out!! read more

Holy cow, or should I say holy buffalo...what a place! I don't think Guy Fieri and the crew from DDD have visited here, but this is exactly the caliber of restaurant that would be on a show like that! Can't say enough good things about buffalo & more. My parents live in Riner and go to B&M at least 3-4 times a week. Today I had the fried pickles with homemade jalapeño sauce and then a fresh salad with homemade banana dressing. Topped it off with homemade chocolate chip pie. The food is superb as always but most important Carla and Connie are such nice hosts. They are attentive and always look after their guests with compassion and patience. All the food is homemade!! Last week they made lobster bisque that was amazing. This is so much more than your local burger joint. Check it out. read more
