All I've heard about was how good DJ's Drive In was since we moved here. Food is great and many if their items are made in-house, such as their honey butter, mac & cheese, and some other items. We got our order exactly the way we ordered it and it is the first time in my life the meat was hot and the onion and tomato was ice cold. Excellently done! Abby was our car hop and she was running the show and bussing orders like it was not a big deal. She was super friendly and exact on our orders. Such a nice thing to see someone with an eye for detail running the orders as she was. There is a purity to Floyd that you cannot find in any place bombarded by the franchise machines and Floyd has it with DJ's Diner. Comfort food in a comfortable environment. This was our first time visiting. We are from out of the area, and what we had read did not prepare us for the take-out/curbside ordering. We walked in thinking there was a dining area -- our bad on that. The young lady who took our order did well, and we took one of three picnic tables outside. We ordered "Debra" (in wrap rather than sub) and small peach milkshake for me, Italian sub and small peach (monthly feature) milkshake for her. Mixed reviews on the milkshake -- I thought it was OK, she thought it didn't taste much like peach. I thought it was a good shake, but also weak on the peach flavor. We are "senior citizens" and were a little surprised a small shake was $5.75 + outrageous tax. My wrap was OK, very fresh veggies in it, plenty of sauce and other ingredients, including the grilled chicken, but I found it still boring. She was very disappointed in what she asked for as a hot Italian sub. Warmed in a microwave and now soggy? That's how it seemed. Very light on meat, two thin pieces each of two meats. Really boring. Again, good veggies. She thought mine was better than hers. We also waited at least 35-40 minutes for the food. They were slammed with business and were scrambling the best they could. Service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and very tasty. Ambiance, well it is a drive in. So for what it is, I'd say it was good. I had their version of a patty melt. Was good and a bit messy- which is also good. The fried mushrooms were pretty standard. Husband had a cheeseburger and was pleased. The chili dog with slaw was really tasty. I stopped by for a quick bite on my way back to Roanoke today. I've wanted to stop here for the longest time every time I see it, but I've always been reluctant because I (sadly) wasn't entirely sure how they treated the curbside aspect. I've been to burger joints that claim to offer curbside service but you have to go to the window to order, or honk your horn, or whatever... What an irrational concern on my part. Haha! Anyway, that concern faded away as soon as I pulled up. I don't think I had even gotten my car into park yet when a gentleman (I believe Mike, after seeing all the Yelp comments) was at my window and ready to take my order. Super fast and friendly service! I ordered a cheeseburger and an order of crinkle fries to eat on the way home, and I was not disappointed. The fries were still hot, and the burger reminded me of what Wendy's USED to taste like--which may sound like an insult to some, but it's intended as a compliment. I enjoyed it. Kind of reminded me of an early childhood memory. Thanks for the great service and meal. I'll be back on my next trip through town and maybe I'll be more adventurous next time! read more

A great place to stop on a beautiful spring day! The server was very pleasant, and worked hard. I had the cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger came out exactly as requested (onion, tomato, pickles, ketchup) on a nice soft bun. The crinkle fries where exactly as I remember from the drug store counter in Raleigh, nice memory. The bag came with the exact mix of condiments I would want for fries and a burger. Including the right amount of napkins! It's not a farm to table type place, but it is a terrific version of what it is meant to be. My only complaint is that you have do a tip in cash, which I suspect leaves the help underpaid. So if you go, remember to give the staff dollar bills and not just loose change - they deserve better! read more

Had to enjoy this local staple while in Floyd. (Not many dining establishments are open on every night or lunch of the week.) The waiter was very friendly and was able to offer where to do some biking on the BRP. Apparently, much of Floyd regularly visits here many nights a week. Never been served my food in a car before that didn't come from a drive through. read more

Whenever we visit our daughter in Radford, we stay in Floyd. We have been here a few times, and enjoyed every visit. This little restaurant is a hidden gem. Eating here feels a little bit like time traveling; a visit to the best part of years past. The service is friendly and prompt. Nothing makes you feel more comfortable than service with a smile. The food is standard fast food fare with the addition of some dinner platters. The burgers and fries were great. Everyone in the family found something to enjoy. One vehicle was there when I pulled-in. I waited a couple minutes, no big deal. Two more vehicles show up after me and get served before me. So I left disgruntled, whether for reason of favoritism or cluelessness, I will never support this local mediocre place again. Visited twice in the past week. It's a drive in and they normally only have one or two girls working the whole place inside and outside so service can sometimes be a little slow. However the waitresses are super nice and very patient. The first time this week I went there I ordered a chicken sandwich onion rings and a banana split and the second time I ordered a hot dog onion rings and a banana split! All was good especially the onion rings but most of all the banana split! Best I ever tasted and its massive! Definitely going back again! read more

I ordered the country fried steak dinner for my husband and myself online. I got a baked potato, he got Mac and cheese, and we both got a side salad with ranch. I also ordered a large lemonade. The online ordering was incredibly easy to use. I pulled up and they immediately brought my order out to my car. Everything here was spectacular and we got A LOT of food for our money. The food always good and the young lady that took our order was so very nice and helpful their French frys are very good .I have one thing to complain about the Hamburgers have anyways been very good but the last to times they where very dry I don't know what happen if there's a new cook or what but please return the Hamburgers back to the way they was don't press the juice out of them .They also have wonderful salads Grill chicken salad with homemade ranch dressing my favorite. read more
