Came here after check in to the nearby hotel for a late dinner. We got an appetizer plate with huge mozzarella stick, wings, and breakfast sandwiches. We also got some doughnut holes that were delicious. The huge mozzarella stick had good cheese pull. The fried food was good, and it was crunch. Overall it was good meal to have for a late time snack. I felt bad for the waitress because she was the only One at the front and it got busy. She had to take phone call orders and the in dining patrons. The service was a little slow becuase of that. Denny is affordable and good place to stop for a night time meal. read more

I've been to multiple Dennys across the nation. This one is letting the side down. I arrived at a not busy time with more workers than customers yet the hostess had wandered off long enough for there to be 4 others in line ahead of me - including one guy who brought his takeout chicken back complaining there was no chicken. I ordered bourbon bacon sirloin as pictured in the menu, with an additional $3.19 salad. The lettuce on the salad was brown-edged and limp and tasted not great. I asked the waitress if I could get a fresh made salad and she explained that that was what the lettuce looked like in the bag they opened that day. All salads look like that, she said. The sirloin came with fresh raw mushrooms on top. Aren't they supposed to be cooked? Nope, evidently corporate made the interesting culinary choice to perch raw mushrooms on a steak. Why am I skeptical of that? I ordered a rare, very rare steak, it came medium well and encrusted with old gunk from the grill. It was Not fond - it was nasty tasting scraped up black bits that should have been cleaned off the grill before the steak was put on. The broccoli was cold - not "oh it's not hot" cold - it was cold to the touch. The mashed potatoes were missing the gravy and were barely warm. I won't be back. read more

Talk about PISS POOR SERVICE from the host/cashier who can't take a order right. On up to the cook who can't cook something as simple as pancakes. The pancakes was half done. It was like eating goddamn batter right out of the bowl. The presentation was sloppy and half assed. Absolutely sucks !! It was all Unprofessional AF, unappetizing AF, and the presentation was unappealing AF. Came in for our usual steak and eggs road trip feast and they did not disappoint! Quentin was our server and he was a delight and he great suggestions! I had steak, eggs and seasoned fries. Everything was hot and fresh and the fries were plenty and the steak was cooked just like I ordered! We had the Cinnabon pancakes to share and they were delish! They had a cinnamon crunch on the top and were topped with a sweet cheesecake filing. Will definitely be back when driving through! read more

We stopped by while staying in a nearby town with no food options. We were seated right away, had a very attentive and pleasant server and enjoyed our pasta and chicken Alfredo. #34-2021 haven't been here in about a year last time was when covid was just about to change the world in ways that never has before. there's two Denny's located within 5 mi of each other both in Flying J truck stops I've always favored this one here at Ft Chiswell. I came in about dinner time and noticed it was pretty slammed they had offered me a seat at the counter I didn't really want it I wanted a booth so I had to wait about 20 minutes for one but it was okay their Wi-Fi is good and strong I was able to occupy myself. time I was seated I was greeted by my waitress Melissa who came out and took my drink order promptly while I peruse the menu. like many Flying J Denny's this is pretty much the same located inside the pilot / Flying J. it was nice and clean in here however they did mention they were running some short staff they lost a few people a couple of no shows how much you can do about it. I said it's fine I'm a patient person I'm not worried about it. I'm decided to try their new fried fish platter. My first choice wasn't quite available it was missing a few options that they did not have in stock. so I opted for the fried Pollock said nice and crispy fillets. had a diet Coke food came out was very hot I was quite impressed. fried fish is really really good nice crunchy batter the Pollock's tasted really good she brought me tartar sauce I had the french fries no salt and the side of broccoli and added the Parmesan sauce. that wasn't as good as I thought it would be I'd probably stick with straight broccoli next time or just some melted cheese. all in all I was very satisfied I'm upping my star from last time last year because they did a really good job giving the fact that they were very short staffed some of the managers had to come in and do some of the cooking but they kept everything going and I didn't mind the extra 20 minutes to get seated or the little longer duration for my food to come out it was all fine the main thing was it tasted good the place was clean keep up the good work. read more

Keep your eyes peeled towards the back where they make ur food. I noticed a bigger white guy scratching his head and putting his hands on my bun to spread something on it, then he goes back to scratching his head. Never washed his hands. When I got my food 25 minutes later (wasn't busy at all) it was cold. Only reason they brought my food to me was because I was asking for a refund. Waste of time and money. When on the road, this restaurant chain provides a good meal. The service at this location is top notch. Everyone is friendly, accommodating as well as being attentive to customers. Everything I ordered was great. Today I had the hamburger steak, corn, spring mix salad, and garlic bread. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs. The corn was exceptionally good, like shoe peg with a slight sweet taste. Yummy. My husband was pleased with the spaghetti. All in all very pleased with this location. Restaurant was connected to a truck stop. Service was fine. Scrambled eggs were flat and over salted, bacon was undercooked and they did not have butter for the only good thing. the 9 grain pancakes. The margarine was mush and overly salted. You'd expect at least name brand products at a national food chain. Will never eat at a Dennys again. read more

Located inside the flying j truck stop, this is a nice Denny's. I'm not sure what to say because it has the same menu options that any Denny's will have anywhere in the US. What this location did have that maybe others don't, is the very friendly and great server that we had. She really helped get the orders and quickly, so the kids were happy oh, and we ate quickly. I shall and should be judged for this. My reasoning was clouded by a long day of driving to the middle of nowhere, where few options exist. I was hungry and I needed sleep and in that weird moment of confusion I decided that since I haven't eaten at a blue collar restaurant in a while, my reviews can't possibly be as well rounded as they could be, if I just ate here. Sounds weird now but it sounded strong enough for me to go there. Suprisingly, it was ok. I ordered the appetizer sampler with mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers and onion rings and they were all ok and freshly made. I also ordered the pot roast and it wasn't as terrible as I expected. My expectations were as low as they could possibly be. Service was weird because the server couldn't have cared less about her job and let's face it, no Denny's in the world could possibly be 5 stars so 3 it is. It's in a Flying J truck stop (I didn't get any Jimmy Haslam memorabilia however), right off I-77, easy enough to get to, it's also co-located with a Wendy's, a truckstop, and gas station. Probably the worst cheeseburger I have ever had. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger because I though it was one of the value menu items on the board at the entrance of the restaurant. Service was very quick but that is the only highlight. I ordered my cheeseburger plain. For those of you not familiar with the term plain, it means only bacon, cheese and meat in this instance. Evidently that term is not understood by the kitchen. When my burger came out it had lettuce, tomato and pickles on it. I absolutely despise pickles!!! In addition to that mess there was so much grease on there that it took away any flavor the meat or the bacon had. Basically I got a double grease burger with slimy tasteless cheese. Yum!!!! With fries and a drink, my order came to $13.41 before tip. That is absolutely ridiculous for the food that was presented to me! I wasn't a huge fan of Denny's before but now I will never eat there again. What a waste of money!! The only positive was the service. I stopped at this location one night coming back from a trip, while staying at the Hampton Inn down the street from it, and had breakfast late at night at the Dennys and it was decent breakfast food. It took about 5-10 minutes for us to even get service. I had to go to the bar to ask for a server.
